Hey guys,
I'm sure most of you are wondering like I am, is Samsung going to officially roll out JB for our device? I mean the international P6800.
I wish to have it too, but I think it won't be so soon..
Not for a looooong time imo, but CM10 is working a treat on my SGS2 and that took Codeworkx practically no time to port, so I'd imagine someone as smart as locerra is already looking at it, alas that person is not me. Even without butter, it's very smooth.

we got faster news here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1395828
we are installing it already
this in change is good news for SGS i9000 and it variants, as the NS i9020 is very similar to our phone
update Koush already made it available to flash via CWR for i9020
This is great news - the ICS ports on the SGS are pretty damn good already, with this we should have some nice improvements.
AND Android 4.0.3 was released today... http://www.xda-developers.com/android/android-4-0-3-announced/
I really want to see an improvement in the current ROMs for Galaxy S. This will really help !
haha! wow! now this is something that really gets me excited
if anyone is interested to see a preview:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPAF2Rsdm1I
It's in spanish (i think). But who cares, all we want to see is how it works anyway, right?
From what i was able to observe in that video it seems smooth, but i would have definitely treated it a bit harsher just to see when it starts lagging/if it all xD
Google is releasing the SDK out to developers today for JellyBean. That is good news for the Dev Community.
I'm nervous about the new graphics and rendering system upgrades.
This may affect our portability with certain closed source drivers.
I'm having second thoughts about this phone. If I want to go through the slow upgrades again. GS2 doesn't have official ICS yet and JB is out.

Yes it does, it got its official release a few weeks ago
I think he means for sprint. We still don't have an official update on sprint.
I am nervous and freaking out about JB since we don't have it yet (so what if it hasn't rolled out yet).
Knowing Samsung it will be like 12 years before it ever comes out and worse than that Sprint will still be charging us $10 a month for premium data even after they roll out LTE.
I'm freaking out over this"

Here is a Android 4.1 Jelly Bean SDK Image System Dump
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736529
EDIT: and 4.1is available thru SDK manager for download
If tmobile does officially release Jellybean don't expect for it to show up soon. it took 7 months!!!! for ICS to be rolled out on the GS2.
And just as soon as I get a phone with ICS, its not obsolete. Awesome... maybe JB will hit the SGS3 by next summer.
Well lets just hope that the Devs will be able to make some magic happen for our devices using the new "Project Butter" they are implementing in JB.
Idk I'm reconsidering maybe returning and waiting for the next nexus. Google will roll out with the update in mid July and the gnex will receive it via OTA. It just sucks how carriers take such a long time to make sure their bloat works. At&t and Tmobile just barely had ICS roll out on GS2 and I don't think sprint has even been upgraded officially yet.

Obsolete because it doesn't have JB? ha ha! I knew this was coming.
I almost started a "I'm pissed I don't have JB" thread when I read about it last night......ROFL!
(I'm not mocking you MadFlava specifically)....no disrespect intended. I just think it's funny. Seems like this happens with each release and every phone I've had.
Debating wether to port it or not :|

Did anyone took a note of the PDK(platform development kit) for device manufacturers? It is supped to speed up os upgraded by oems. Hoping it will improve the fragmentation situation.

There is no new phone that Google is revealing. Jellybean will only be on the nexus s, galaxy nexus and nexus 7 tablet. I have high hopes that developers will be able to get a working CM version of jellybean on this sgs3
It's almost certain that their will be custom roms of the latest Android OS long before CDMA Nexus' get it. Not to mention the new Nexus will have underwhelming specs. I say hold on to your S3.
Looking forward to a CyanogenMod 9.1 (or would that be 10?)
Considering how new this phone is and the inevitable huge developer support once everyone gets their phones I'm not too worried about not having this for long.
Besides... I am perfectly happy with ICS. I haven't found a need or an issue that would make me irritated by not having something in JB. That's technology and software for you. There is always something right around the corner that is better.
Be happy with what you have, always seeking the newest greatest thing will drive you crazy and/or broke.

Yeah i know their is no new phone. I was meant as just holding out till a new nexus rolls out maybe in Nov. Don't get me wrong the GS3 is a beast device! and i am confident our devs will port jellybean way before.

I think a complete port of ICS would be usefull before start porting JB. some features of JB as the new keyboard and google now should be rather easy to implement into ICS, too, while others like vsync and tripple buffering will be way more work to do.
Jellybean won't have flash also it doesn't come out in 2 months. If you want it then pre order the nexus 7 a really damn cheap tablet which is quad core with jellybean with 1 month exclusivity.

It has been years since GB has been launched but still CM7 port is in progress. You got your answer.
Yeah, I totally agree. It would be probably better to finish ICS first and then start to port JB. I think, that JB isnt necessary because it doesnt have many new features and it would take a long time until it would be a fully usable ROM.

I tried Jelly Bean on the Nexus and I thought it was a huge improvement over-all, enough for me to wanting to get the Nexus if it wasn't for the S3 purchase I recently made. The Siri like thing also works so much better than the Samsung's stupid S-Voice which hardly works.
The performance is hugely noticeable too.

Thanks for putting up this thread .....
P.S :
please hit THANKS if my info thread of JB was helpfull
So it has come 2 this.. we dont even have ics 100percent working and already JB released. My question is. Projects like paranoid android.. will it continue 2 build on cm9 ics or andon all the hard work and move 2 JB? Even cm9? Its so close 2 perfect.. what now? Do they abandon or is there a way 2 keep building but on JB instead of ICS?
Can't wait for JB roms
I know my thirst quencher is here now...
Desperately waiting for any JB custom rom for NOTE.....
Hugs to developers who work so hard for people like me who can only install
I guess once jb goes to aosp expect alphas on cm10 to start flowing
If I am correct it was much much harder porting cm7 to cm9 than what cm9 to cm10 will be
It will be like cm6 to cm 7 port

I'm not ROM developer by any means, but surely the OTA Nexus JB ROM can be modified correctly to work for the Note?
Dont get me wrong MOD but you should have closed this thread and kept all three u mentioned open...ppl tend to reply in the same thread wher they get the info....just a suggestion...
am I the only one to notice that Jelly Bean looks alot like cm9 Paranoid android phone mode?

I personally dont see any similarity at all....care to point them out? ??
I'm not an expert on this, the galaxy note is my first android, so I may be wrong. but I say this because, the navigation bar, notification drawer look very similar to PA phone mode. the gallery looks very similar, yes JB has more features, its just it looks similar. basically i see that the ui in PA phone mode does not differ much with JB's ui.
the video i watched that shows JB is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXarFwqfdqc
and this picture looks similar to it cm9 as a whole.

on another note, I'm not putting down JB, I really really like it, would love to get my hands on it. also nexus 7 looks top notch and at £159 it'll be a bargain.
Ics is such a train wreck on this phone that its probably better to start over. And screw touch wiz

After just receiving ICS for our beloved notes what chances are that samsung will do it again with JB?
To me it looks like Galaxy Note 2 is must have
I don't see any reason that Samsung couldn't get it out by the end of this year if not sooner.
Samsung has G2 in its cards right now.....and it has recently released ICS....so JB will not be arriving Atleast till Next year....thats for sure...and its not fair to demand too....cut them some slack...even they are humans...

But they shouldn't have taken so long to release ICS, and when they did it had pretty big flaws.
P.S I find your use of ellipses disturbing.
If they took time it might be for a reason. And they have to test it a million times before releasing.so obviously they have tried there best and will be working on a fix right now.running such a huge company in this era is not childs play.they have products in every possible electronic fields.
Samsung have an entire department on smartphones and tablets, Samsung Mobile. They are working on a fix, but it should have been tested for before release.
I tried to create a hybrid of CM9 and the JB leak for the GNex. But I was unable to because of some lame error in TWRP...
I constantly get something like this:
Code:
FAILED TO FLASH: /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 0)
I tried flashing from internal and external sd's. Anyone got any clue?
Hi guys,
Anyone had the ota update yet on the UK?

Nope but eagerly waiting for it. Haven't really used my tab due to its rubbish performance so far. But you most likely will cure cancer by the time samsung release the update.
Eagerly waiting for GT-P7510... to be honest I not keen on the official update, just because I not a fan of TouchWiz... but new touchwiz might be a surprise who knows - if it ever makes it to our devices..
I just hope that the update/drivers for camera, etc gets through to the community somehow and we should be in for a Jelly Bean treat. Can't believe Samsung will get around to that any time this year!
also looking forward to the kernel sources being released. should make the ICS experience even smoother!
