Searching for a working apk whatsapp on the net, i found that the only way to have it working properly was to have your tablet rooted and use titanium backup to backup it on the device from another smartphone, but...
In a spanish forum i found a working "asus App Backup" of whatsapp, so who whant it without root the tablet can try this (it worked for me)
1) Install whatsapp from Their site or just from Attached files but don't open it yet, just install it
2) Download the Backup file (Attached File: Whatsapp.rar wich contains Whatsapp.abu the backup file for asus App Backup) and move it with the stock file manager in /Asus/App_Backup (if u havent a Asus/App_backup directory is becouse u havent open App Backup for the first time yet)
3)Use Asus App backup and backup Whatsapp with the abu file
4) Open Whatsapp and it will request for a tel. number (make sure to have a sim number that is not already used on a whatsapp account (they must be two different whatsapp account)
5) follow the instruction to activate it and enjoy
What spanish forum ?
Great, why can't it work on the same sim though?

How do I backup whatsapp with the .abu file?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
You need to put the. Abu file in this directory with The stock file manager: /asus/app_backup
Then open stock "asus" app backup and restore whatsapp from here selecting the Abu file

You need to extract the. Abu file from the rar archive before put it in the /asus /app_backup directory
So put the. Abu file instead of the rar in the directory of your Image
Then open App backup and restore whatsapp from there

Upgrading Whatsapp
Can you guys Confirm that upgrading the app from whatsapp . com / android doesn't block it?
Thanks!
What you need is TO upgrade your version of whatsapp downloading it from their site?
This case you have to backup your whatsapp with asus app backup then disinstall whatsapp download the new version from their site then restore it from app backup.
Ps: in using atm a modded version of whatsapp i found this forum that give the possibility to set the size of everything like size of message or headers to make a more suitable version for a tablet
Name is: whatsappPLUS just search here

You should have backed up market. Then uninstall, reboot phone, use file expert or whatever root access file manager you have and move the new vending.apk to system/app. Once in system/app change the permissions to what's in the screen shot in fist post. Then again reboot phone and then open market.

XDA should not be choice to host such unsolicited advise.

Do not discuss warez. I dont care what personal feelings are over it, its against the rules, full stop. Using the excuse i just want to try it first is a poor one, use your brain and use the user reviews to make a informed decision.

I've seen a few threads asking if it is posible to get this working on a rooted S3 so thought I'd share how I got it running. This appears to ONLY work with Barclays apps!
Software Needed:
ES File Explorer (free from Play Store)
Barclays Mobile Banking / Pingit (also free from the Play Store)
Steps:
1: Open ES Explorer options and make sure you enable 'Up to Root' & 'Root Explorer'.
2: Navigate to '/system/xbin/' and long press on 'SU' and select 'Hide' from the menu.
NOTE: if you update the SuperSU binary, you will need to do step 2 again!
That's it! No more messing around. You don't need to touch anything else before or after you open the app like temp unroot/hide root. I dont know if Barclays can solve that with an update so I don't plan on updating the app. I'm not a coder and don't know a lot about the technical details of Android so if you run in to problems I can only TRY to help you.
Thanks.

I have no idea why I have an SU file in the xbin folder and you don't. Sorry. I'm no expert at this, I was just playing around and Barclays then worked.
I'm curious to find out if this method has worked for any other apps though.
And I'd like to know what has created the su file. Hmmmmm. Unless the Barclays app creates it somehow and references that for its root check.

Im in the same boat. But fair play for giving it a go. Respect for getting it to work for barclays.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Just to add to this, i've got mine working but i did it slightly differently. Whenever i disabled the GET_TASKS control, i couldn't launch the barclays app at all. It would just hang at a black screen. So i couldn't do it that way. Try this to see if it works for you too. I'm using Omega v11.1, so don't know if that will make a difference or not.
1) Download Barclays Mobile Banking App and install
2) Download Root App Delete and install
3) Open Root App Delete, Go to SysApp tab, find Super SU and select Disable
After this point, i was able to open the banking app and link my account. It's currently working fine without issue for me
Hide my root works great on an Aussie banking app. Just hide su binary & su app then use the app. Once done restore both and that's it. And it does it in just a few seconds.

Yep. Found out it works as well if I just hide su app. That way I'm still rooted and all rooted apps still work. Can even leave it that way until an app that needs root gets updated. Then I need to unhide and grant it root access then can hide again.
I tried that even when I was using the Desire HD. I tried hiding and renaming su but it was always uneffective for me although I was reading people had good look with it.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Hide My Root doesn't work with the Barclays app
If you open ES then go to the options, scroll to the bottom and tick 'Root Explorer'. Have another look in the xbin folder and the su file should be there.

I had the galaxy nexus before this phone, and there was a mod that changed a couple of pngs around to show "4g" instead of "h". I didn't see any here for the stock rom. I tried renaming the png's but that didn't work. (probably because its still odexed, but I dont know how a custom nav bar worked then)
Thanks!
You should be able to do this with framework changes as CyanogenMod added the H+ logo to the build.
As for 4G, I prefer to see U (UMTS aka 3G) or H or H+ as how it was, none of this stupid "xG" crap. I guess they have all been beaten to death now and I just rather it with the single letter. G to E to U to H to H+

It's easy guys. Use root browser and copy systemui.apk from system/app to your download folder. Plug in your phone to your PC and use winrar to open the apk. With any PNG that says signal h, rename or delete it to another thing and rename the PNG that says signal 4g to h. Close winrar and put the new APK on your phone again. Open root browser again and go to system/app again. replace the systemui.APK with the one you edited and reboot your phone.
Don't forgot to press the thanks button if I helped.
