I had the galaxy nexus before this phone, and there was a mod that changed a couple of pngs around to show "4g" instead of "h". I didn't see any here for the stock rom. I tried renaming the png's but that didn't work. (probably because its still odexed, but I dont know how a custom nav bar worked then)
Thanks!
You should be able to do this with framework changes as CyanogenMod added the H+ logo to the build.
As for 4G, I prefer to see U (UMTS aka 3G) or H or H+ as how it was, none of this stupid "xG" crap. I guess they have all been beaten to death now and I just rather it with the single letter. G to E to U to H to H+
You mean like this?

I just did some editing on the png files. I'm stock rooted only. I might be able to assist a few if you could send the systemui.apk so I can mod it to appear like that. Even with the quick settings it would show 4g

Thanks, but I already knew how to do that I was just talking about the icon.
And to everyone else - thanks! That is exactly what I wanted, but couldn't figure out how to do. What I ended up doing is just taking the pngs from the CM10.1 build and transferring it to stock. (I dont know why I didn't do that before):good:

Would you mind doing it for CM 10.1?
It's easy guys. Use root browser and copy systemui.apk from system/app to your download folder. Plug in your phone to your PC and use winrar to open the apk. With any PNG that says signal h, rename or delete it to another thing and rename the PNG that says signal 4g to h. Close winrar and put the new APK on your phone again. Open root browser again and go to system/app again. replace the systemui.APK with the one you edited and reboot your phone.
Don't forgot to press the thanks button if I helped.

That wouldn't work since doing factory reset on stock recovery doesn't modify system partition. What he can do however is just grab a gallery app from one of us and placing it on system/app and fixing the permission then reboot.

Have this exact problem.
Cause (I believe):
Using this I manually upped video quality:

Can't use OTA update to upgrade from 4.2.1 so flashed using the full image under section C from the ultimate nexus 4 root guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018179
Installed superuser, root explorer, recovery is flashed to clockworkmod and is working.
I can access only front end camera only. Back end camera does not even appear to switch in camera app. (only accessible by lockscreen widget, no app in system drawer)
googlegallery.apk and odex has incorrect permissions.
Changed to: rwxr--r-- on both.
Rebooted, this has not resolved the fault.
Any further assistance would be super appreciated.
any ideas guys? I believe this is a software issue and not a hardware fault. As if it was a hardware fault the camera app in the app drawer would still appear.

Hello,
Kindly note that This MOD is for Odexed Stock Roms Only! So Backup your current SystemUI.apk & SystemUI.odex before you proceed.
Download new attached Fixed zip file and flash through custom recovery (TWRP Or CWM).
KOT49E 4.4.1 Version
KOT49H 4.4.2 Version
Flash-able zip should normally be enough but if it sill doesn't work, try to enable battery % using this free app

That is my mistake on the size. But it still did not work correctly after I moved it. Could it have something to do with I'm on odex?

Try to re download the file, it's not downloaded properly.

Once downloaded it is only 345 bytes. I guarantee this will not work.

Try to use a different browser to download, actual file size should be 1.34 MB

I was trying to download via Tapatalk app. When I use other browsers I get 404 Not Found. Guessing just a bad upload. It happens.

It's in system/priv-app but make sure you back up in case it breaks.

It should be working, have you tried it yourself? others and myself have it working, make sure the file downloaded is not corrupt, proper permissions are set and obviously you are using stock 4.4.1 Odexed Rom.

Well it's not a bad upload, use a different browser or download on your PC and you will find the file intact. I tried to download it myself now and it downloaded fine.
