I love it first off...I have issues as all do with first releases...but all the issues on other devices have always been eradicated with the great devs on the forum.
I'm sensing that because this is still percieved as a novelty device (and it very well might die as a Samsung new category device...primarily due to its fusion/compromise of tablet and phone...not ever satisfying either) ....because of that fact I fear developers just wont spend the time creating the great roms/kernels as the Evo's and GS2's have enjoyed.
Hope I'm wrong.
Have 9 days left to possibly return or sell. My Epic Touch just kick its ass in general speed (I'm still stunned at the extent that this is the case).
Anyway, that's the general fear...wanted to get it out there and off the chest!
thanks
Dell Streak was a fairly unstable device with very little exposure, so it's adoption was much less. Samsung on the other hand is going out of it's way to advertise Galaxy Note, I am even starting to see TV ads when the device hasn't hit the market yet. Plus Note has a lot of similarity with Galaxy S2 in terms of internals, so it enjoys quite a lot of already established research and development. I mean we had a root and a custom recovery literally within the same week of its release.
I know of a few talented devs getting the device soon.
Dell Streak was a poorly advertised device. But a really good one.
Galaxy note on the other hand is a close relative of SGSII. so easier in terms of development.

It probably won't get the same dev attention as say the nexus one or galaxy nexus, but personally I'm not too bothered about that. The note is a bit of a niche device. The Samsung apps specific to the Note look like they're pretty good already, and I believe Samsung are releasing APIs for the s-pen soon, and on the horizon is ICS with pen APIs built in.
From what I can see though, there's a lot more anticipation about the Note than for example the Galaxy Tab 7", which was also a niche phone + tablet hybrid. I expect a lot more dev love for this than there was for the Tab.

And to be fair, the GTab7 did/does see enough dev support to make it worthwhile.
I'd expect the Note to be more popular than the GTab7 because:
a) It's superior in almost every regard to the Galaxy Nexus (IMO)
b) It will get official ICS at some point

When the Dell Streak was launched nearly all smart phones were small, but the trend is now away from small phones. Samsung believes that most people would prefer to carry a Note than carry a large tablet plus small phone and I think they are right. Most people will be very happy with the Note, even if there is no development in forums, because it is such a great phone.
Encouraging responses!
It seems I've taken a 3 year back step in Device responsiveness, tho.
Interesting because one of the final selling moments was review statement such as this:
From Engadget:
" Performance and battery life
The Galaxy Note may slot squarely in between a phone and a tablet in terms of physical dimensions, but when it comes to performance we're happy to report it leans much closer to the latter than the former -- in many cases surpassing even that class of devices. We ran it through the gamut of typical benchmarks and found nearly everything predictably out-pacing this device's Galaxy S II predecessor.
In quadrant this husky phone threw down a 3,998, compared to the GS II's 3,200. Linpack single and multi found 64.30 and 95.66 MFLOPS, compared to 55 and 81. Nenamark 1 and 2 resulted in 57.67 and 32.8, it hit 51.77 at Neocore and ran through SunSpider in 2,902ms. These are very, very good scores, out-classing the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in most cases and really raising the smartphone bar.

Quadrant 3,998 3,200 1,769

Note has a lot of crap running in its background, even then it manages to be on par or beat the Galaxy S2. Plus I believe it's software isn't properly optimized for that resolution. Time will fix these. Hardware wise, the Note is miles better than the Galaxy Nexus. Pure AOSP Android 4 should be absolutely faultless on the Note.

I agree, I didn't see anything particularly exceptional with the Galaxy Nexus, at least at the hardware level. Which is a pity, as it was going to be the natural replacement for my ageing but still brilliant Nexus One... The lack of an SD slot and no obvious availability here in the UK of the 32GB version was the final nail in the coffin. The Note is actually pretty powerful from a hardware perspective. I'm sure ICS will run extremely well on it. Coupled with confirmation that 64GB sd cards work fine in it, makes it a pretty powerful and capacious device .
There is root and I am a TouchWiz keeper, battery lasts longer than GS2, regular apps run, getting ICS - I guess I wouldn't be needing dev support.
Edited: And I am not super hungry for ICS at version 4.0, I can wait until 4.0.4 when ICS is finally super stable.
i'm just waiting for Cyanogenmod to make it's way over ... it IS coming, right...?

Coming from the Dell Streak 5 myself, I know EXACTLY how you feel. I flashed as many ROMs as were available -- all TWO OF THEM!!
Amazingly, my son STILL USES my HD2 because it never gets OLD--he can change to a new ROM almost DAILY. There has to be about 82 million ROMs for that thing!
Now that I just picked up the SGN on Friday, I too am hoping the SGN will get that kind of love!!

No love for Dell Streak
I completely understand how you feel, coming from the streak.
I got the streak in Oct last year, because 2.x was "coming soon". Gave up and did it myself in December. I'm still on 2.2.2, which is super stable for me.
I've looked at the SGS2, but that 4.3" screen is just too hard to get use to.
If someone in the states would offer the Note, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I'm not sure I want to get one from overseas...just yet. Bought several items from HK, but, nothing almost a grand in price.
...and I'm OK with that

Well, the Tab 7 had lots of rommers basically modifying stock with some UI tweaks, and Technomancer doing a proper job with CM7. Nowhere near the likes of something like the Nexus One where lots of real development took place.
I can see lots of development of the Note in comparison, especially once Samsung drop the source. Even more activity once it moves to ICS. I think there are reasonably long legs in this device for devs to come on board.
I am concerned as well. Actually, this is the only reason why I have still not purchased the Galaxy Note.
Are there any good developers who have already promised to support this phone?

Now that the Note is coming to AT$T in a couple weeks, I've been doing some pretty serious window shopping. But, there's also the desire in the back of my head for the ever illusive S3. From those that have had the opportunity to use the Note, would you recommend the upgraded Note being released on the 19th or hold out S3 (with it's specs still in the rumor mill)?
My biggest draw to the Note is the fact that you can easily take notes right on it which is a plus for the office. One of my only worries is portability. Summers coming soon and the thought of carrying around a paperback novel (granted its only 40 pages thick) makes me nervous.
Please help sell me one way or another.

Ok first of all let me tell you that the phone is not an issue carrying around unless you are a fashion concious person. The phone will fit into major pockets except skinny jeans or any tight fitting clothing but if you carry a bag out then it won't be an issue. Any ways I think you should wait to buy the phone unless your in need of a new one quick. If not wait till the s3 comes out and see if you like it then great get that or else get the note and since you waited the note probably dropped in price
As for my opinions on the note, first I think the specs are fabulous, its pretty good enough for a phone in the year 2012 and I think it's gonna rock the boat when ics comes out. Before I bought the phone I did a specs comparison to the iPad 2 ( you know since this phone is targeted as a tablet phone and best tablet is iPad in my opinion) and the note turns out is more superior to the iPad 2 and at that moment I decided the note is my phone. Overall its a more than decent phone only thing is you might need to buy a memory card if your thinking like videos and music and games, I just bought a 16 gig card off Amazon for like I think less than 20 bucks (its original) and while I couldn't transfer my apps to the sd card I did move all my videos photos and music to the sd card freeing a few gigs.
Any ways it comes down to the owner's needs, I wanted a tablet and phone and then I saw someone showing of his phone at the subway taking pictures and stuff then I asked him and found out about the note, let me say this is not a replacement of a tablet, its an alternative so there is a difference
With that I appologise for the long post and wish you have the most awesomest time and love your phone which ever one you get

The at&t Galaxy Note isnt a Galaxy Note. Its just a big skyrocket spec wise. Expect heavy choppiness and lag due to the weak snapdragon SoC.
I got my Intl Note about 3 months ago back when there was no news of the S3. I recommend waiting for the S3.
The S3 is most likely gonna feature the new 1.5ghz Exynos or a quad core Exynos.
Once the quad core phones come out you're gonna regret buying a dual core phone.

I don't get this obsession with people wanting faster and faster processor, I mean I remeber a time when I was about 10 years old people would buy phones based on their looks or price and now every one just wants specs even if the phones are ugly. I'm not implying the phones now a days are ugly but I'm just saying what's up with wanting a faster processor I mean its just 0.1 more than the note how much faster is it gonna be. I think the current speed on the note is fabulous and I think this phone is perfect if I had one complain it would be the lack of space and the keyboard SUCKS. Other than that its an awesome phone

The shift from single-core to dual-core is probably much larger than from dual-core to quad-core. This is because Android in general isn't even properly optimized for dual-core let alone quad-core. You'd probably need to wait for "Jellybean" again to get proper optimized changes that takes advantage of a quad-core SoC. What happens then? You're paying a premium price for the first "quad-core" phone that isn't even properly utilized until the next ANdroid update comes.
Never buy into bleeding tech, always get it around the 50 ~ 70% cycle mark. That's where you get the best longevity, utility, and price to performance ratio. =)
If you really like the idea of note taking, there's really no reason not to get a note.. Make a prototype out of cardboard if you want to check portability. It's bout twice a thick as cardboard.
Big screen, stylus - that's what you want. What would you trade that for, in the s3?

I'm going to guess that the S3 is going to have a 4.65" display as well or at most 4.7". They're not going to cannibalize the Note for no apparent reason. On that grounds alone if screen size matters, it's pointless to wait for the S3. If anything, wait for the Note 2 in October.

As i think people and correct me if i am wrong, but the quadcores will not be quadcores but 2x dualcores on different speeds so you will have max battery from it with a improved speed. Lets say 2x500 and 2x1500(2000) the 2 high end cores will fire if they needed.

All of the things a smart phone is used for is improved by a larger screen except portability, so the largest screen that is comfortably mobile is best. The Note is narrow enough to fit almost any pocket but is uncomfortable in trousers/jeans pockets and an alternative such as a deep shirt pocket or jacket pockets is needed. If you can live with that then get the Note for it will give you the best experience.

I think it's silly to suggest waiting nine months for the purpose of buying something with longevity. That's nearly half of a phone's lifecycle assuming you get a new phone every two years. This phone isn't even out in the US yet!
My advice: go buy your Note and enjoy it. There's no sense in waiting for a product that hasn't been announced, and something better is always around the corner. The best we can do is try to get something that's future-proof and enjoy it, and since the Note is one of the highest-end phones available today and Samsung has announced ICS for the it by the end of Q1, I think it's a smart choice.
Quick question, will the unlocked version of the gnote work on att's lte network?

Thanks for everyones insight. I'm gonna go with the Note for a multitude of reasons. The quetion for about 39 seconds was n7000 or the I717. Exynos or snapdragon.....
Survey says......
I787. Sorry to burst some bubbles, but a 1.5 dual core snapdragon is not going to be noticeably inferior to the exynos. Plus, the snapdragons are compatible with the LTE network unlike the exynos chipset which gives the major advantage to the I787 in network speed.

If you watch/use flash content you absolutely need the power. My Note SMOKES my Transformer tablet with flash. The Note is silky smooth with no freezing while flash on the Transformer is a jerky freezing mess.

I really urge you to reconsider. You're basically buying a big Skyrocket if you get that. Even if the speed difference is negligible to you, dev support will be way lower for a Snapdragon chip.

Go read reviews from people who traded their OG SGSII's for Skyrockets.
I personally went to go check out the skyrocket on release day and there was so much lag compared to the OG SGSII model.
But, the snapdragon barely keeps the skyrocket running, the note is a lot bigger, so it requires more processor power, something that the snapdragon can't give

I agree partially with this statement. I have both the Note and Skyrocket now and had the SGS2 as well.
In terms of day to day speed SGS2 > Skyrocket > Note
The Note isn't slow, but imagine the difference in pixels it's pushing. I can't imagine the ATT Note on that snapdragon (which in all reality is not that bad, just not an exynos)
I actually was lucky enough to be in the right spot at he right time today and place the AT&T Note in my hands. Was at my local company store today dropping off a freshly rooted and cleaned SGS2 to an aquatintance there and joking asked if he has a store unit yet. To my surprise he said "Yup" and walked over to a corporate guy who was there on business who happened to be carrying one.
Contrary to speculations...even in it's stock and bloated form, it was VERY responsive. I noticed next to no lag and can only imagine what the thing can do when overclocked. Every web page I went to, opened pretty much at desktop speeds and jumping from app to app was fluid and seemless.
Now am I gonna be listening to Pandora, watching Netflix, tethering 4 devices and setting up a Webex? Probably not. I actually have to work while at work and my daughter gets my home time. PDF's, business uses, and making calls.... that about sums it up these days.
I ordered it mostly just because jellybean looks so awesome i had to have it. But now that the benchmarks have been released along with the full specs, im actually now somewhat convinced it is inferior to my ics running n7000, or at the least equal. I ran the gl 2.1 benchmark that anandtech ran and my stock (not overclocked ) note actually scored higher in all 4 benchmarks than the "12 core" tegra 3. So besides battery life and jellybean, im pretty meh at this point. Anyone else have similar feelings? Or am i really missing something?

For the price point; the Nexus 7 is a nice investment. The specs are solid. If you have disposable income it's hard not to throw $200 at the 7 and at the very least make it a part of your coffee table.
I'm in the boat that I will upgrade my Note to the Note 2 as no doubt the spec leap will be much bigger than the Nexus 7.
Dude the price is low for that 7"
So it worth it x2 each dollar, if you r looking an upgrade just wait the note 2 or other device
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I'm with you in debating on it OP.
I've yet to put an order in as the Note 2 looks rather promising, however watching media on the 7" display would be lovely, and Tegra 3 aught to have enough power to handle S/W decoding of 10bit 720p, but I've also read that the S3 seems to handle it fine, and if the Note 2 will be a 'larger S3' then I might as well save the money and wait.
It's a tough decision, since it's realistically the best 7" tablet to come out yet.

What is the point of buying it if you are basing that decision on purely benchmarks and OS version?
Are you actually going to make use of the extra screen space compared to the note?
If yes buy it, if not dont, simple
The Nexus 7" looks amazing for the price. The only downside is the lack of SD card slot.
I'm not sure if they left it out for cost reasons or to avoid annoying the other manufacturers.
I won't personally be getting one as I'm holding off buying a tablet until Win 8. You just know someone will bring out a device that dual boots in to win8 and android.
About a month ago I bought a Galaxy Tab 2 (7") for my Fiance as she wanted something like a kindle but that did a bit more. 16 Gb was £200 if the Nexus Tab has been out for £150 with better spec and newer OS I would have thought that was a great buy if you want a 7" tab.
I dont get this comparing tabs and phones. Its like comparing apples and oranges. Both fruits but not the same thing.

Except that the galaxy note is a phablet, a hybrid device. Thus the issue here.
To the person who said I only used benchmarks, not exactly. I was just saying that the 1.4ghz dualcore exynos with mali400 seems to still be a top dog and even beats/equals the "12core" tegra 3. Pretty impressive.
I do know the nexus 7 is a great device for $200. It doesn't have everything a galaxy note has like mhl, 5ghz wifi or sdslot but in terms of raw performance, screen resolution the $249 version is equal to my 16gb GT-N7000. No doubt it is an impressive device for the price. I found a deal on mine at Jr.com for $222 shipped 16GB version but that pre-order quickly sold out.
Even still I hesitate. It will probably only be a couple of months before the devs make a good port of jellybean for our note. Having a pure google device however does appeal to me. I'm still torn. Luckily it wont ship for another 10 days so I have all that time to decide.

That is the Galaxy Nexus phone, not the Nexus 7 tablet. Personally, the Galaxy Note eliminates the need of a tablet for me.
It's 7 inches. Not even 2 full inches of difference between the Note and Nexus. And you can put the Note in your pocket and take it everywhere with you. And since Nexus 7 does not use full tablet UI - it's basically "a bigger note" ( exaggeration for purpose of the thread ).
It all depends on your needs though. I really prefer to have just 1 device that i can carry everywhere, always. Tablets, even 7" are not that mobile despite all the marketing.
If its any help i currently take my note with me everywherr daily. I use my Galaxy Tab 10.1 for browsing, gaming and watching movies (in bed). I use the Galaxy Tab 2 for reading and general messing about.
I admit 1 person doesnt need all 3 in their life but I do prefer web browsing at home on either of the tabs as I find it better with the bigger screens and the same for reading and movie watching whilst at home.

There won't be any tablet ui in jellybean, it's gonna be universal like the galaxy nexus looks. Jellybean fully merges the tablet and phone ui together 100%. Any tablet that will support jellybean will look like the nexus 7 ui, no more tablet look.

That's not true. In another thread I read someone has already hacked the Nexus 7 to give it a tablet ui.

The Note is also a phone and has 3G... and 2 good cameras.
The Nexus 7 is a nice tablet (low end price with good specs) but it cant be the only device to take, a good companion to a phone maybe.
Stability
The biggest factor for me. I just didn't know that Android tablet can be this stable until used Galaxy Note 10.1. By choosing Android Ecosystem over the iOS ecosystem, I was always under the impression we are giving up the stability. Galaxy Note 10.1 is even more stable than my iPad 2. I have had only a single crush on stock browser for the entire week of use. At this point, I am even doubting the event. May be I had accidentally clicked close button.
Speed
Very fast device. Transformer Infinity when its at maximum speed I believe matches the Galaxy Note, but galaxy note constantly at its speed.
Sustainability (Battery Life)
Amazing is all I can say on this regard. This system can get me 10 hours easily with constant browsing, video play, and even with some gaming. Infinity only gave me 5-6 hours at maximum without dock. If I played game, it can be as short as 3-4 hours. This was unfortunately not acceptable for me. Some may argue but with "dock". My take on this was it is nice to have dock sometimes, but I got tablet because of its portability. I don't want to carry around extra pound every where I go. Otherwise, I would simply carry my macbook air around.
S-pen
Honestly, I don't really use this feature but if I had this when I was in school, this would have been ideal. I even purchased HP Windows Tablet with premium price of ~$2000 when I was at school. The battery life was suboptimal and could not really use it for whole day of lecture. But since Samsung is making this is its unique selling feature, this made it to my third S.
Screen
Unfortunately, this is the weakness. Not bad screen but if you have used HD screen it is noticeable difference. And this is not some random feature that most don't care. This is everyday use, always on feature so lack of this point is making Galaxy Note always a tough decision to call "the best android tablet."
I'll take the GNote screen any day, if it means I can have this amazing tablet that just works. No issues or crashes - it just works. I didn't know how bad my ThinkPad Tablet was until I got this tab.
The display is nice. Its just not 1920*1280 or whatever.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Agree 100% with you... Moved from TF700 to SGN10.1 just for 4S...
HD display is definitely lovely and like I said I miss it. But stability once you experience is equal or even more important factor. I cannot take a note, bring up reference etc. at work and suddenly my application crushes and start over. But yes. I truly miss HD display and that is why I am still checking infinity forum to see if stability is improved.
In theory, infinity still has potential. Assuming their I/O issue is not truly bounded by flash drive i.e. hardware level, if it gets fixed by software and who knows whatever else samsung is doing correctly, and ASUS applies that Infinity can have both HD and stability. Whereas, Galaxy Note 10.1 is essentially near perfect system of its own if we excluded HD screen BUT it is never fixable.
Again very tough choice. But if infinity does not get the stability, I don't think I can go back to it as again I cannot use system that crushes randomly every other hour especially after experiencing the stability of Galaxy Note.
By the way for the defence of Infinity, I again say that infinity's browsing speed can be as fast as that of Galaxy Note. I did end up doing some build.prop tweak before returning mine Infinity, but with that I compared side by side with infinity and galaxy note visiting exact same site at the same time of clicking. Sometimes, infinity actually loaded faster BUT infinity could not sustain the speed as time goes by; whereas, galaxy note is always at that speed. So again stability and perhaps reliability on galaxy note, which seems to match that of iOS, which for apple fans the main selling point of their device.
Please stay on topic guys.
Thread cleaned.

Speed wise, how does it compare to Nexus 10 ?
Which variant is faster Exynos or S800?

I had a Nexus 10 and liked it a lot. I now have the Note 10.1 1014 Wifi (exynos) and it is a better tablet all the way around. Speed wise it feels much faster. The battery life is at least 50% better. The screen seems a bit better. It is smaller and lighter than the Nexus 10 also. Performance wise Snapdragon versus Exynos, the Exynos is slightly faster CPU wise and the Snapdragon is slightly faster GPU wise. The LTE snapdragon model is not officially available in the states yet. The camera is way better and the S pen is not just a gimmick. The New Note 10.1 is the most useful tablet day to day that I have owned and I have owned a ton of them.

+1 to everything he said. This tablet is way better than the current nexus 10. The nexus 10 never got to be properly optimized and felt much more sluggish and buggy. I can give many details if you want, but I bet you won't be disappointed with the upgrade.

I would like to know your opinion on the screens...as far as I know, nexus 10 came with a rgb subpixel arrangement, while Note came with a somehow strange rg bw arrangement. Supposedly one shouldn't be able to see the difference since the pixel density is so high, but I can and do see the tiny jagged dots, and it's not a very nice feeling though...that's why I wanna know how it compares to nexus 10. Thank you!

The screen is noticeably better on the note. The nexus has pale colors in comparison, and while in the note they might feel a little bit over emphasized and warm the screen is nicer to watch, specially at higher levels of brightness. Regarding definition and pixels... the note might appear sharper bit it's probably due to the colors and not for the density or anything similar. I bet you cannot tell the difference resolution/subpixel wise but the final feeling is that the note offers a far superior screen IMHO.
I have both and have had the Nexus 10 since April this year and I manually updated it to kitkat. My note 10.1 is running the latest mk1.
The Note is a lot more powerful on paper but the nexus10 is definitely more responsive. It really is samsungs touchwiz that's slowing down the note. However, the note destroys the nexus 10 on all benchmarks (if it matters anyway).
Screen sharpness I would say is the same. However, I prefer the colours on the note 10 as the nexus 10 feels underwhelming.
Both have stereo speakers and the nexus 10 has the edge because of its placement. But the note 10 isnt bad, it is actually loud I dont mind the speakers facing sideways.
I bought the note 10 because I need the stylus. I bring my note 10 to work everyday and use the stylus all the time. If I didnt need the stylus then I would be sticking with my nexus 10.

I agree with everything you said except with the responsiveness. I'm not saying you are wrong it laying, but in my experience, I almost have the same configuration right now that I had in the Nexus: Same launcher, same keyboard, same apps. I'm using it exactly the same way I used to use my Nexus, and I can tell you I've never had in my hands a tablet that responsive. It is far more responsive than my Note II as well. I tried the Nexus 10 with all the stick operating system except KitKat, Cyanogenmod, Paranoid Android and Revolt. 4.3 helped but the Nexus had been never at the level of the Note. This is just my experience, and I've seen a lot of divergence I'm the comments of people so I cannot tell you exactly what makes the difference.
By the way, I forgot to mention I bought the Nexus 10 the first week it came out, so maybe they did a running change in the hardware that improved performance in more modern models.

Im comparing it stock vs stock. No 3rd party launchers.
For ME, the nexus 10 "feels" faster, smoother and more responsive. Even if I know that the note 10 has a lot more power. The nexus 10 has come a long way with updates, and google have mostly polished the experience (it still stutters occasionally, but not as much as my note 10). I just hope samsung will continue optimizing this tablet and polish things out.

One of the apps in which I feel the difference the most is Chrome. Apart from the launcher, Chrome has been always sluggish to me on the Nexus 10. It works flawlessly in the Note.
The apps open much faster on the Note as well. And it moves between apps faster.
I definitely find the Note superior to the Nexus and I'm not trying to open a discussion up. This is just my mileage in case somebody find it helpful. Your mileage can vary of course.

So I went to Bestbuy to try the table out.
I've left being very disappointed with its responsiveness. They had Exynos model runnings 4.3 android. The tablet was dead slow due to touchwiz.
Chrome was extremely slow opening new tabs and in navigation through web sites.
Samsung should really kill the touch wiz or produce Google Edition for every of its devices to run a stock android.

Are you sure it was completely updated? Mine doesn't perform as the ones on bestbuy. Have into account that's a display model.
Anyways, not trying to convince you. You can stick with the Nexus 10. I cannot be happier having gotten rid of it, but if it works fine for you, why would you replace it?
I find it strange people complain about the lag in the new Note. I have the Note 10.1 2014 edition LTE version with Snapdragon and Chrome browser flies with it. It is a lot smoother than my old Note 10.1 ever was when browsing the web. I haven't encountered much lag elsewhere either. The home screen transitions were not silky smooth before I removed the widgets that were on the homescreens by default, but after that I really have no complaints there either.
Also the Note specific features are really well made this time in my opinion. Especially the new clipboard app is excellent with the pen (very quick to just cut and paste stuff with the pen while browsing the web or reading pdf magazines etc).

I think it's the best tablet out there by a long far, and in fact, the only one that has satisfied me since the very first moment. Thus, I cannot agree more with you.
The nexus 10 took more than six months to solve the problem with the GPU driver. The little flaws in this thing have been solved within weeks.

I don't know. I didn't try to update it via Check updates.
Maybe it was bloated with apps, 'cause still it's a demo version. But it was slow.
I had a lot of Samsung phones, Galaxy S2, S3, S4, S4 GE. I know the difference between Android with touchwiz and without it.
I hoped that a faster CPU can run touchwiz smoother, but there is no magic. Nexus 10 on latest 4.4 runs smoother.
Maybe I should try Snapdragon 800 version. Nexus 5 is uber fast on it.

The Nexus 5 is pushing far fewer pixels and bare bones Android so it should be uber fast. Anything running AOSP should be super fast. Again I had the Nexus 10 and now have the Exynos version of the Note 2014. I got rid of the Nexus 10 the week before I bought the Note. The Note blows the Nexus 10 out of the water even with the bloat of Touchwiz. The most important difference though is the battery life. The Note has almost double the battery life of the Nexus 10 with my usage. I do use the Note a lot more than the Nexus just because of the S pen for work. I would not trust a demo unit in a store and there are many reviews on the web for the Note 2014.
