Restoring old tablet data to new one - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, not total noob but never something I had to think about or try.. I will be having to get a replacement for my n7 sadly since there's a weird screen discoloration (even while screen is off? :S) so what I'm wondering is, when a new one comes, can I do a nandroid of my current one, root my new one, and restore that nandroid onto the new one ? Or are there problems that arise? Thanks!

Ind/loaded the app from my posted link.deleted my market app and installed this. Something might be wrong on your end.
Backup backup backup. Then make backups of the backup.to be safe.
go into your manage apps and uninstalling market updates. That worked for me when I tried that new market.

Nandroid Backup

Noob question. Where is the backup stored? In case I want to delete it later?

I'm using the touch screen recovery, not the clockwork one

That's nice. That is still where they're stored. I use 4EXT touch recovery and that's where my backups all go.
The dev did this for ease of use. It makes switching back and forth between them fairly painless when all files are stored in the same place, don't you think?
Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?

Thanks I found it. That is kinda weird to put it there. I guess it's convenient if you ever switched to clockworkmod

I read a thread that someone successfully did it. I think they used wugs toolkit but I could be mistaken.

Awesome thanks... something to do while hurricane Sandy's outside..

The 32gb is identical to every other n7 except for the memory. No reason it shouldn't work.

yeah the same with the sgs3 had the 16 then got the 32 same method.

Yes I was able to root mine right away using the Nexus 7 Toolkit found in the Android Development Forum. Easy Peasy. Option 8 in the kit does it all for you: unlock, root, busybox, etc.

My 8g n7 crapped the bed last night.

My daughter was playing mine craft on it last night when it made white noises (the noise old TV's makes when its on a snow channel) screen went black with random snow flashing on the black screen. I reboot it and the Google splash screen pops up then snow again. I ordered it on opening day and never unlocked it or rooted it (no need IMO). Only device I haven't felt the need to put custom roms or kernels on.... just my opinion.
Has anyone else ever had this happen and who do I contact, obviously Google but what area?

I hope everyone knows what white snow noise is. I may be getting to old lol

I've had this 2 times in the month I have the device. I dont think you should worry that much.

Photoshop Touch apk

When I flashed into CM10 on my GNote, I forgot to backup Photoshop. Would someone be so kind as to make a Titanium Backup and shoot me the APK?
I don't think this is allowed... seeing as how PS touch is a paid app. You can always reflash stock and backup the APK from there.

I was trying to avoid that to save time and energy. I bought the device and therefore the app. I can see not wanting to post it live here for piracy reasons, but a pm with a drive link would be nice.
