Hello all,
I recently upgraded my 8525 to the new rom provided by att/cingular (actually it is provided through htc's website, I found the link through cingular) I have some questions and was wondering if anyone can help.
The rom update doesn't give you wm6, it is still 5. It does enable the push to talk feature, and rebrands the phone as att instead of cingular. It also enables "cingular video," which is a streaming video service through att/cingular.
Now with the newer rom there is a horribly loud start up sound. It sounds like an airplane is taking off! Every time I soft reset the phone it plays this loud sound, even if my phone is on silent or on flight mode. This sound was not there before I upgraded the rom. I went into the folder where the sound is stored and tried to delete it, it will not let me. When I right click on it, the delete option is grayed out! The file is just a windows media sound, it is stored under the windows folder, and is named "3G_Up." I even tried to do it through the phone explorer on active sync, still won't let me delete it.
I am wondering if anyone knows a way to delete the file or somehow disable the start up sound. I have looked at all settings and don’t see any for start up sound.
I am also wondering this: I assume flashing a cooked rom will eliminate the cingular startup sound. If I flash a cooked rom onto my phone, will I be able to use the “push to talk” and the “cingular video?” Neither of these worked with the original rom. The “cingular video” is just a bookmark, and I tried sending a link from my phone with newer rom to an 8525 with the older rom, and it would not load. On 8525's with older roms when you push the push to talk button, it says "the ptt service is not yet available on your device."
I am assuming I have to choose between a cooked rom with no cingular video and ptt, or just live with the start up sound. If anyone knows any other way, I would just be thrilled
Thanks,
Jon

Hello from Italy.
I successfully succeeded to install my first ROM on my Polaris at the end of the 2008 for the first time. I’m at the beginner level in this business.
It was PDAVIET 1.60.08.27 and up to now I was happy with it.
Since then I decided several time to update it again, but to be honest it didn’t gave me a reason to do it – it worked flawlessly until last week…. when….well.. I decided to try the famous TF3D and the 3D drivers on my machine.
I read carefully and did all the steps needed, but after the installation the TF3D refused to work at all. There was a message “Tap on the screen to activate TF3D” and after that noting happened. So, finally I gave up and uninstalled them both.
After this intervention I found one strange thing left as a mark of my useless efforts – I don’t have any possibility to change the Incoming calls melody and what is more there is no sound at all during the incoming call. Everything else that uses sound is working though – alarm, reminder, Mp3, etc.
Due to my ignorance maybe I did something stupid and my question is:
Is there any possibility the sound during the incoming calls to be restored without reinstalling the ROM? Some tweak into registry maybe??
If no, what would be your proposal for the replacement of that ROM – any new version that is using TF3D and 3D drivers? If i have to reinstall the ROM at least I want to do it with some of the lates versions. I tried to enter the PDAVIET webpage, but due to my poor Vietnamese I couldn’t cope with the registration at all. Any clue for that?
I’m just a regular user who values your work much. I find this website as one of the really important in my Favorites.
Regards,
KOKO
TF3D doesn't work properly due to shortcomings with the 3d drivers, so apart from a couple of early test roms from itje and PhamQuang there are no new ones.
.
If you're looking for a new rom, there are plenty to choose from on the first page of this forum. Personally, I'd recommend you take a look at the topic regarding TranMinhMan's WM 6.5 rom. It's the one I use and I reckon it's fast and pretty cool. If you want to stay with a WM 6.1 rom, then chavonbravo's VI suite is also really good.
I suggest you read up in the topics for each rom on what they have and don't have, as well as any problems people have had. That way you can make a good choice that suits your needs. Also be mindful of the recommended radio versions for different roms. These will be detailed in the posts within the topics.
NEW UPDATE ON MY OLD THREAD
Hello again.
It's been a while since my last question here in the forum.
I followed the recommendation of “cr1960” and installed completely new ROM on my machine - 3LIT3 VIII ROM Suite.
Everything went good, but surprisingly the same bug appeared again.
When you are in "Sounds and Notification" menu the system doesn't allow you to change the existing melody neither to choose from the ring types. Whatever you choose it return back to the default set type and tone. In support of that I got lost completely the sound during the incoming call - now I have to rely on feeling the vibrations only, no matter that the ring volume is set on its highest level.
It is awkward because it happened for the second time.
Is there anything that can be modified in the registries in order to fix the problem?
Thanks,
Cerrone
Please do hard reset after flashing
Hi cerrrone,
Kindly flash back to original shipped ROM, and don't forget procedure during and after flashing i.e removed sd card & do one hard reset after flashing. You can see the results.
Good luck
You can read & download the latest Pda Viet 6.5 built 23007 through this post but it not stable. Everybody waiting for Pcarvalho ROM coming out tomorrow.
I am not sure to tweak the registery but maybe you can try Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3.0.0 by Julien Schapman
Thanks a lot Nik Ahmad.
What I did yesterday is to re-flash the device with the same 3LIT3 VIII ROM and everything is OK now. What I noticed though is that when I tried to set the Manilla 2d with a different skin, chosen from the forum I got the same lost of incoming calls sound. It is happening if the skin file is a *.cab type and led to re-re-flashing again If you use the *.zip type there are no problems at all.
Anyway, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the final result now is satisfying to me.
Thanks for the help guys.
Cerrone.
Hello,
I have been working on a new audioswitch app to replace troca2 and audioswitch.
I have started to make a new app called audioswitch v2 but soon ran out of time... and xiexin1008 got the project and had made and new experimental app.
Today, I had some free time, and made other app with a "switchclass" that deal with all the ril stuff(based on my first class that is on the Xiexin project), so others can improve and use it even as a dll in c#(u have to build it as a dll first)
I called it "simple audioswitch".
How it works: run the program and "put it on the background"
volume "up and down" switch the audio.
volume "down and up" close the app.
if an incomming call shows up, the audio will be routed back.
I have tested it only in my p3301. so I do not know if it works or not in other phones.
Once more the license:
It is free code, free binaries, and all work derived from it.
use at your own risk and I am not responsible for nothing...
Support on the forum.
-------------------------------------------------------
about the various methods of switch the audio...
mostly uses drivers messages.
u can find very useful information about it at www.teksoftco.com, even a audio driver wrapper that spy at audio messages.
by this time it is not for me, too busy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
will open sorce of this app so others can inprove it.
Thanks to Xiexin, I will not post his work now, will wait for his email.
Thanks Dan-Marius to all the feedback.
Thanks.
Hop u like. sorry for the messy code(is an one hour work).
@MarceloFB
The ideea of listeninng RIL for incomming calls is a very good one! Congratulation, you did a great job. Yes, a really great one.
The simpleAudioSwitch.cab file is attached.
Guys, it works very fine.
Thank you Marcelo!
I tried this program and I like using hardware keys pattern to change audio. I like the most that I don't have to change the way buttons worked before. this is the best solution I saw till now.
But there's is still a problem. It seems all programs of this sort use same procedure to route audio. But when audio is routed in my phone it seems it doesn't come from internal speaker. Or maybe not exclusively from internal speaker.
Sound still can be heard from external speaker but quieter.
So I can say now that we have good user interface but routing mechanism needs to be improved.
I have HTC Touch Cruise with 3LIT3 FULL ROM

The "routing mechanism" is using RIL lib, by now thre is no other "easy avaliable" way to rout the audio.
Try changing the radio or the entire rom of your phone, I have tested in touch cruise this method and works fine, but with the stock rom.
can you please tell me which ROM, radio and protocol version have you tried it with, so I can try the same and compare with this one I have?

I think the latest official ROM.
Great app.
Just started using it on my HTC Touch HD with Dutty ROM v3.3. It seems as though Up & Up switches the audio for me (not up and down). Down and Up exits the app.
what is the basic use of this prog...
Also, earphone is silent when the phone is on vibrate (and probably when it's on silent too although I haven't tested it).
Any way of fixing this?

can be the volume or the ril mutting the audio. If the problem is the first is easy to solve, if it is the the second it wont be... just programming...
Request
Hi,
I still use the old version with mortscript to control the program and I love it .
I have a request for this new version.
1 - Can we decide which key controls the audio switching ? ( Since I have a Fuze and I have a PTT button which I never use )
2 - also is it possible to add the bluetooth handfree to audio switch options as well ? sometime when I'm driving I love to use my voip or skype over 3G using my bluetooth handfree .
Sincerely
Thunder
Will there be a new version, which is working with Skype 3.0 mobile beta?
I am having problems trying to get this to work with my Benq e72 phone running Windows Mobile 5.
I am trying to use it at the same time as Ageet Agephone mobile 2.76.
http://www.ageet.com/us/products-agephone-mobile.htm
It seems like Agephone mobile 2.76 takes over controls of the volume up and down button. When I push the up and down volume control button it just wants to change the volume and not switch the speaker/earpiece - I can't get Audioswitch to work. [Maybe I am not doing something simple properly?] But at least it installs correctly.
So then I try AudioRoute http://www.teksoftco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1995
Unfortunately this won't install properly - it says something like:
installation file is not intended for this device

I have tried modifying the cab file like it says here on the teksoftco forum:
I'm also a creator of WinMo apps (www.saman-cz.com), so I know that recreating cab is just a piece of cake.
But OK. To modify cabinet get WinCE Cab Manager (trial is good enough), open cab, go menu Cabinet->Properties, Operating System tab, set minimum version to 5.0 and maximum to 9.9, hit Ok, then File->Save
Just another result from my tests:
After restarting phone I tried rerouting once more and the microphone worked well. Weird but nice

but it still didn't install properly.
Has anyone any suggestion where I go from here?

I don't understand controling. Too hard.
"up and down" can't switch the audio.
"down and up" can't close the app.
"down, up and up" switch the audio.
"down, up, up, and down" close the app.
"up, down, and down" close the app.

So many ppl saying that HD is slow when compared IPhone. No. HD is faster than IPhone even it has double resolution.
First, watch my video. (I have recorded it with a bad webcam, so its not so smooth sometimes and blurry, sorry for that).
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xbn1vm_my-touch-hd-running-lots-of-apps-sa_tech
You can see I am running these apps at the same time;
- MSN Live Messenger (connected)
- Facebook App (connected)
- Opera Mini (via JBed)
- MySpace (Connected)
- SongLoader (Downloading 1 song)
- MediaPlayer (Playing 192Kbps MP3 File, It has some glitches since I cant adjust buffer)
- PocketPlayer (Playing 128Kbps through Wi-Fi, full buffered, so no glitches in sound, smooth)
- CorePlayer (Playing 320x240 25FPS MP4 file with 44100hz 2channel sound WITHOUT SLOWDOWN)
* There is active background services like G-Trigger, GPSModDriver.
* Manila is still smooth while running all those applications at the same time.
Conclusion: HD is maybe twice or more faster than IPhone when you configure your windows well. I dont know why ppl choosing winmo 6.5.. I tried it with every custom ROM, manila was freezing while listening to simple MP3..
If you like it, here is my configration:
- HTC Touch HD without any overclock installed Topix 3.1.2 (WinMo 6.1).
- Installed Neos drivers V3 first, then Xperia X2 Drivers on it. And Graphics Booster 1.2.
- I am using custom priority management (Using SpeedBooster). Most important thing is this. Since speedbooster is not free, you can use sktools (I didnt try it, but heard that it can do priority management).
- Manila.exe and gwes.exe %80 priority. Other apps %60 (Players, browsers, etc.). You can set jbed.exe (Java emulator) %80 too for smoother experience, since it's pausing any running threads when you minimized it. And you must adjust players buffer sizes as much as possible (when you use manila or other %80 prioritied application, your ppc can't process mp3 as fast as playing, in this case it plays from buffer. If you keep doing things in manila, sound will stop when buffered part is played.). So you must adjust these things for yourself, depending on your needings.
Thanks to kwbr for this nice and smooth rom.
This is not for noobs, if you dont know what are you doing, then please dont. You may get your ppc unstable/freeze.

I would appreciate it if you could place the links of the used appz, rom and tools.
so people can be sure they're downloading/ installing the correct links and the updated ones.
I wanted to ask you one more question, how long does your battery last ?
because i have to charge my phone every night even if i didn't use it a lot!
(i almost forgot to say that my HD has a standby time of 32 hours is that normal ?)
THAANK YOU!

Of course, I would attach files when I back (I am in another country right now, so I can't access my PC). But I am sure that you can find them by searching forum
"neos2007 driverpack 3"
"gfx booster 1.2"
"teksoft speedbooster 2.0.010" (not free)
and, already given xperia x2 drivers.
About battery, since I use topix wm 6.1, it lasts longer (like about 2, 2.5 days). And those programs or drivers didn't affected the battery life so much, it's almost the same.

I love your fast reply you're really my hero!!
I'll try searching, but im still waiting for the links

i think youre still using the Topix 3.1.2 rom?
and which radio /rom version do you have
Thanks for your useful advices, mr barisahmet:
I have installed "NeoS2007_Driverpack_3.cab", reboot after installation, then have installed "X2 Video Driver.cab" and after the required reboot my HD freezees on the boot screen. I have do a reset and dont boot, then remove the battery, and also dont boot. Now I have a beautiful "Blackstone paperweight".
Have you forgot any steep? Well, to late for me.

I havent experienced that before since I used always that combination with every rom. You maybe using stock rom? No I explained all steps. I will edit post as "not for noobs", sorry for late edit.
Though drivers and/or radio is not important part. I get almost same results with original drivers and radio. Important part is, well adjusted priorities.

Yes, fastest rom ever is Topix 3.1.2. And my radio version is .17 .
Yes, I have Hard SPL 1.56 installed with the 1.56 stock ROM decert and 1.17.25.09 radio. Now I have flashed with a custom 6.50 ROM.
Anyway, I don't know how you call "not for noobs" a procedure that consist on install some cabs. I have do many tricks with my phones since my first Qtek 8080 on 2004, including flashing, registry tricks, etc... and I never have freezed a machine before.
I think that if someone follow your steps and freezes the machine, you have forgot some previous requeriment previously included in the customization of your ROM. You must recommend this procedure only for people with your same ROM or identify what is the previous steep necessary and include the steps to do it manually.
At last, sorry for my english. ;-)

Topix 3.1.2 is a custom ROM.
my little friend, have you tried putting it in boot loader mode, try this, pull the battery out, put back in again, hold both vol up and vol down in at same time then whilst you hold them down hit the power button on the top
you should see a multicoloured screen
now, on your PC go to whoever released your phone and download an "official" ROM for it.
plug your HD in to your PC
your PC might try and install something at this point, let it do it!
now run the official ROM you downloaded and it should install.
next id suggest you install Hard SPL which you will find in the WIKI then try the whole thing again .
your paper weight should no longer be a paper weight

ok now I'm scared!
what is the way of doing it ?
what do i have to do first, could someone give a step by step guide?
Does anyone have the correct links?
and could someone give us a step by step guide?

ok first things first, you need a new ROM incase the one you downloaded is corrupted.
then turn off the device
pull your battery out and put it back in again. holding down the power button will have the same effect but the battery out will make sure its off
step 2
hold down the volume up AND the volume down button on the side
whilst holding down the two volume buttons push the power button once
this mode is called bootloader mood, it will allow you to install a new ROM without the need to boot the HD up in to windows
Step 3
plug in the HD to your computer
allow it to install anything that might pop up on your PC screen.
your PC will look as normal, your HD will be multicoloured with writing on it
now try and install the new ROM as you normally would
its dead easy, and unless your HD is buggered it should get it working again, if it doesnt you wont be any worse off than before!

hello guys
Cool that you made such a video, so everybody can see that our Blackstone isn't a slow device.
In my Oppinion Blackstone "could" be faster than a non-customized-LEO.
The problem is HTC and Microsoft don't provide a good Hardware-Driver support, so the blackstone can't run on his maximum Level.
We can see this in such small things like the TF3D 2.5 Landscape Album View.
3D-Games are no Problem for our device if they are well configured by the programer, but we can't slide smooth through a list of 10 MP3-Albums with an small 3D-Effect
That's all because of bad configuration and a bad hardware support.
Why is there a so big community supporting Android drivers, when we should have a good WM-System at first?
greets
cuz we dont have WM drivers, what we have are a bunch of files collected and made to work with one another to give some form of speed improvment but unless someone releases the full driver and code or re writes the OS to use GL we are buggered. moan to Qualcomm and HTC

%80 is, just one step previous than %100. Where %100 is last step.
I think drivers are almost okay. Problem is coding style in some applications. Some apps has very smooth interface with eye-candy graphics, while some apps are slow with a simple UI. But of course, its hard to adapt those applications to many device variants. Iphone has no such variants like those devices. And windows must have better dynamic priority management, like the app you see on screen must have higher priority than foreground apps. In this way we set static priority to an application and it may be kinda unstable. But at least we can see what our device can do.

Why are there no options for editing the in call volume , media volume and ringtone separately as in android??? Help will be appreciated ... Thanks
