Hello from Italy.
I successfully succeeded to install my first ROM on my Polaris at the end of the 2008 for the first time. I’m at the beginner level in this business.
It was PDAVIET 1.60.08.27 and up to now I was happy with it.
Since then I decided several time to update it again, but to be honest it didn’t gave me a reason to do it – it worked flawlessly until last week…. when….well.. I decided to try the famous TF3D and the 3D drivers on my machine.
I read carefully and did all the steps needed, but after the installation the TF3D refused to work at all. There was a message “Tap on the screen to activate TF3D” and after that noting happened. So, finally I gave up and uninstalled them both.
After this intervention I found one strange thing left as a mark of my useless efforts – I don’t have any possibility to change the Incoming calls melody and what is more there is no sound at all during the incoming call. Everything else that uses sound is working though – alarm, reminder, Mp3, etc.
Due to my ignorance maybe I did something stupid and my question is:
Is there any possibility the sound during the incoming calls to be restored without reinstalling the ROM? Some tweak into registry maybe??
If no, what would be your proposal for the replacement of that ROM – any new version that is using TF3D and 3D drivers? If i have to reinstall the ROM at least I want to do it with some of the lates versions. I tried to enter the PDAVIET webpage, but due to my poor Vietnamese I couldn’t cope with the registration at all. Any clue for that?
I’m just a regular user who values your work much. I find this website as one of the really important in my Favorites.
Regards,
KOKO
TF3D doesn't work properly due to shortcomings with the 3d drivers, so apart from a couple of early test roms from itje and PhamQuang there are no new ones.
.
If you're looking for a new rom, there are plenty to choose from on the first page of this forum. Personally, I'd recommend you take a look at the topic regarding TranMinhMan's WM 6.5 rom. It's the one I use and I reckon it's fast and pretty cool. If you want to stay with a WM 6.1 rom, then chavonbravo's VI suite is also really good.
I suggest you read up in the topics for each rom on what they have and don't have, as well as any problems people have had. That way you can make a good choice that suits your needs. Also be mindful of the recommended radio versions for different roms. These will be detailed in the posts within the topics.
NEW UPDATE ON MY OLD THREAD
Hello again.
It's been a while since my last question here in the forum.
I followed the recommendation of “cr1960” and installed completely new ROM on my machine - 3LIT3 VIII ROM Suite.
Everything went good, but surprisingly the same bug appeared again.
When you are in "Sounds and Notification" menu the system doesn't allow you to change the existing melody neither to choose from the ring types. Whatever you choose it return back to the default set type and tone. In support of that I got lost completely the sound during the incoming call - now I have to rely on feeling the vibrations only, no matter that the ring volume is set on its highest level.
It is awkward because it happened for the second time.
Is there anything that can be modified in the registries in order to fix the problem?
Thanks,
Cerrone
Please do hard reset after flashing
Hi cerrrone,
Kindly flash back to original shipped ROM, and don't forget procedure during and after flashing i.e removed sd card & do one hard reset after flashing. You can see the results.
Good luck
You can read & download the latest Pda Viet 6.5 built 23007 through this post but it not stable. Everybody waiting for Pcarvalho ROM coming out tomorrow.
I am not sure to tweak the registery but maybe you can try Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3.0.0 by Julien Schapman
Thanks a lot Nik Ahmad.
What I did yesterday is to re-flash the device with the same 3LIT3 VIII ROM and everything is OK now. What I noticed though is that when I tried to set the Manilla 2d with a different skin, chosen from the forum I got the same lost of incoming calls sound. It is happening if the skin file is a *.cab type and led to re-re-flashing again If you use the *.zip type there are no problems at all.
Anyway, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the final result now is satisfying to me.
Thanks for the help guys.
Cerrone.

Well I did 2 hard resets to see if Manilla2D was the problem and i'm using just that and the stock sprint 6.1 ROM and all of a sudden im having a couple annoying problems and wondering if there is any fixes to them.
- When I click on a Text Message from the main screen and it brings up the threaded texting, when im using XT9 and I start typing it will type as if im holding down the letters like if I press the "as" button "?" will come up, and for me to type normal i have to go to Start>Programs>Messaging, which is really annoying lol.
- Another one is im using the TouchFlo2D Dialer, if i switch to keypad from call status the whole phone freezes up and i have to soft reset
- everytime i restart my touch i get a startkey.exe error and i just hit dont send and start up touchflo.
- last problem/bug that i can remember is that my phone is really really slow and i have nothing on it except manilla2d.
these are the steps i did to install manilla 2D idk if it will help solve my problem:
copied the "EMPTY" biotouch.exe and 3 other files I got from XDA and put them in the "Windows" folder, then used resco registry editor and disabled the cube, then installed all the cabs for Manilla2D to my "Device" not storage card, (it asked me to soft reset after some of them, but i didnt since i was going to soft reset after i finished installing them all.) then soft reseted and manilla2d works just is really laggy =(
any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you in advance =D
I had the same problem with my phone running extremely slow whenever i tried installing manila 2d on my phone through the cab installs. I flashed to a custom rom with manila 2d built in it and the problems went away. It runs extremely smooth now.
ive never flashed my phone and only way i would do it if i had someone walk me through it as im doing it=\
How did you get the 6.1 ROM? You would flash it the same way as you did that one.
i just installed it from the htc site or whatever, but for custom roms dont you have to do all that unlocking and what not?

It's not terribly hard - in fact, the unlocking process is very similar to how you flashed the official ROM update.
Just use COKE's unlocker (just an app like the flasher) and install any custom ROM you want
this slowness has happened to me with a custom rom, i think its manilla.
it was very wierd, overall the entire OS was mega slow and un-usable as the OP said
I found what works best for me is piecing everything. I took everything from Update 19 except M2D-Beta-x.xx(Update19).cab. I installed M2D-Beta-x.xx(Update 15).cab (anything after made my device slow). I installed the latest version of Opera.
(sorry for the dots I'm just looking at them on my phonenand it's not showing all of the titles on some.)
First I ran:
HTC.home.v2.1.1005.722.directory.and.......... .cab
So From 19:
Enchasement..outlook.and.picture...... .cab
Audio Manager_2.0_1819.2129.cab
FSP, DShow, WMP, Youtube, Video Fixes.cab
Album_2.0_1818.3829.4.cab
Task_Manager_2.1 34837.5.cab
GoogleMaps_compressed.cab
HTC_Opera9.5.2392_www.cab(This is not from 19 Found it in another thread)
YouTubeQVGA1_5_1819_1531.and.mhubVO.cab
From Update 15:
M2D-Beta-0.08(Update 15).cab
Good Extras:
digital clock
Ringtone_plugin_1.00.080416.2.cab
Volume_control.cab

Great manilla2d rom
Hey guys.
If your looking for a good, fast, stable rom with manilla29 PLEASE flash this rom..............
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432487
NFSFAN has spent lots of time on this and is by far THE BEST manilla2d rom there is out there. He is constantly update bugs and getting the fixes out as soon as possible. This is the closest thing you can get to the diamond/touch pro without buying one. Any questions please feel free to ask BUT READ ALL DIRECTIONS ON FLASHING IF YOU HAVE NOT YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to second that.
I used to have the stock Bell 3.09.666.10 ROM, with (my last incarnation) update 21. To get all the parts of M2D running (yuotube etc) you have to install alot of patches and tweaks.
My theory has always been, if you have to add too many parts to get something to work, maybe you should start over. Google "Beech 1900D" to see how this applies to aircraft!! A custom ROM with everyhting cooked in oem style runs much better than a Frankenstien special.
It is fun trying to get everything to work though.
When I first added M2D to my device it was extremely slow. After playing around for a while I found that the page pool played a huge roll in the speed of the rom. My page pool is set at 24 and I have no problems at all. I have had no problems with NFSFAN's roms. I believe the PP is already set to 24. Hope this helps.
Hi all,
Newbie here
EX iPhone 3g user now HD user
I would like to ask, is it possible to change the People Tab on the HD to one like on the Touch Pro2 as an example.
I would prefer to have squares of faces than the flip faces that there are now.
all the best...
Any help is appreciated.
chill.
If I understand you correctly, you are referring to the difference in Contact tabs between Manila 2.1 (also known as HTC's TouchFlo 3D), and Manila 2.5 (known as HTC Sense), which will come out on the new HTC devices such as the Leo (also known as the Touch HD2).
As far as I know, the only way to use the new interface is to flash a ROM that has Manila 2.5.
I currently use Dutty's Leo R6 with WM6.5 and Manila 2.5. I really like it.
You can find it here. You'll have to register to be able to download it.
BTW - Welcome to the forum!!!!!!
Thanks Chris Cross,
This is what I am looking for.
Hope I have explained it right.
Not sure what Manilla 2.1 or 2.5 are, but thanks.
If I was to install the Dutty rom, would I loose any features ? Could I return to Original rom if I needed ?
Sorry for too many questions..
chill....
Yes, that is a picture of Manila 2.5.
Okay, I'll explain what Manila is.
Windows Mobile phones have a generic windows interface. HTC came up with their own layout and called it Manila. The more common name was TouchFlo. First was TouchFlo 2D, then came TouchFlo 3D, and now the new one is called HTC Sense (I guess they wanted to change the name now. ). In terms of your phone, you will see that the name Manila is still used (for example in registry settings etc.).
So, when you start your phone, it automatically goes into the Manila layout from HTC. In other words, the whole concept of having the slider at the bottom which takes you to the different tabs (and each of their sub-menus) etc.. is the Manila interface. Other Windows Mobile phones that are not from HTC don't have that (unless they have tried to copy the concept).
So, Manila version 2.1 (=TouchFlo 3D) had a Contacts tab with the little slider on the right, to switch between contacts (or you could flip through them too). Now, Manila 2.5 (which ships with the new HTC phones) changed that layout to look like what you are referring to - i.e. the big square pictures. You see 9 right away, and if you flip up, then 6 more appear for a total of 15. That is just one of the layout changes that are new in Manila 2.5. You will also see a new change in the Home tab, where below the clock, you now have Quick Links. They also look like squares and you can link them to a contact or a program for quick access directly from the home tab. Like I said, there are several new changes like that in Manila 2.5
I'll leave it at that for now. I need to stop for a second, but I'll come back to this same post and give you some info on flashing a new rom.
EDIT: see post below for info on flashing roms

Flashing a new rom means that you will completely erase the entire drive on the phone and you will install a brand new system. So... yes, you will lose everything that is in the internal storage (but not in the SD card).
You can go back to the rom your phone came with (referred to as a "stock" rom). To do that, you would have to flash (= install) the stock rom, and once again, you would lose everything you have at that point and you would end up with your phone as it came out of the box.
There is also backup software you can buy to backup all your programs, files etc.. in case you ever flash the stock rom again and you want things the way they are today. As far as I know, you cannot (or at least - should not) use that backup file on a rom other than the one that was installed when the backup file was created.
I have had my HD for 11 months. I flashed a new rom for the first time about 2 weeks after buying my HD. I think it is totally worth it. There are a lot of rom cooks out there that do a great job at making solid, stable roms. Dutty is definitely among the most well known and respected for the quality of work he does. He tries to keep his roms as close to stock as possible, but he makes changes that improve the speed and overall user-friendliness of the rom.
You do have to keep in mind, that if you flash a new rom with Manila 2.5 and Windows Mobile 6.5, some things might not work 100% right away because those are new releases. Dutty is constantly updating his rom to fix any known issues. Whenever an update is made, you flash that updated rom - and once again it means you lose your settings. But, the benefits of having a nicer rom outweigh the cons of having to set up your phone as you like it again. Eventually, the rom becomes really stable and you can go months without needing to flash anything.
If you are interested in flashing Dutty's new rom, let me know and I can give you links that explain how to do that.
All sounds very interesting. I'll chew on this a little.
Its not like I am unhappy with the HD, but just the People tab is a little frustrating to use.
I'll have a good look over at the roms section, and if I do give it a shot, I'll be knocking
I have flashed a HTC Touch before. A bit scary doing it, but went OK in the end.
The phone was freezing up, and was out of warrenty, so nowt to lose.
If its a similar process, then not to scary after all.
thanks
chill......
Yeah, it's the same thing. It's not too scary, but you just have to make sure you read about how to do it the first time, so that you don't make big mistakes. Technically, you could turn your phone into a brick (i.e. permanently dead), but that's really only if you somehow cut power to the phone during the process (e.g. if you unplug the cord or start with a low battery). If you just follow the steps - you'll be fine, and it will take about 10 minutes of actual flashing time. Once you have done it, you realize it is no big deal.
Check out the ROM threads - especially this tutorial!!! Depending on what type of ROM you have right now, you might need to do extra steps before flashing a newer version ROM. It is all explained in that tutorial. And Dutty's latest Leo R6 ROM can be found here. You can follow any developments or bug reports and fixes etc. regarding Dutty's Leo ROM in this thread.
Also, you might want to look and see if your stock ROM is available for download (in case you later want to go back to it - but I doubt you will). You can also go back to other stock ROMs if you want.
Just ask if you have questions.
Thanks a lot.
I've only been here 5 minutes and all this help. Nice place here.
There are Lots of Roms, so would need to chose carefully. I have been trying SPB Mobile Shell, which is quite nice. Not a full replacement rom, but a nice touch.
Thanks again, I will read on.

Since I've never used one, I am not too familiar with freeware for it. But, I did find this website. Their program "Avatar" might be what you are looking for. The author also has a thread for Avatar on XDA Forums. It definitely seems worth the try.
Thanks again Chris Cross,
I will try them today, cheers for the link.

Ok so i just bought my new HD2 Just arrived last week, And Yah its freezing like most are, I have heard numerous fixes to this I guess flashing Roms or installing apps. I dont know if this thread is in the right category, but can someone help me fix the phone so it doesnt freeze everyday when i use texts and run smoother overall? I dont know how to flash roms or tweak any of these replies can someone help me please? I tried Custom window home tabs app but it got rid of the home screen so i took it out.. please someone help me .... i have yahoo, aim and msn messenger email or just reply on here ? thanks guys
try HR-hard reset.
1.turn your phone off
2.press and hold volume up&down buttons same time and turn your phone on
it will reset and restore it to the factory settings
This should help
I was in the same position 4 months ago... it's a steep learning curve!
In no particular order:
1. Get your phone and PC hooked up with activesync.
2. Learn how '.cab' files work - you basically just transfer them to your phone (I use activesync) and run them to install various things.
3. Get Resco Registry - this is a registry explorer which I find very intuitive and useful for changing registry values.
4. Have a look around this site, notably the tweaks threads, and see what you like.
5. When you are comfortable with the handset, look into upgrading your ROM. I started on Vodafone 1.43 ROM, but have since upgraded to Vodafone 1.66 ROM. It is very easy to upgrade to official ROMs (at least it was for Vodafone) - I image the manufacturers will give you a step-by-step guide.
6. Get Cookie's Home Tab!
Can you tell what ROM/Radio/Manila version you are currently on?
(Go to settings/about phone/software information)

I don't know where you got the idea that most phones are freezing, because if that was the issue this phone would not be nearly as popular as it is.
* If you got the phone from your provider go to them.
* Try a hard reset, make no changes (tweaks, software installs) and see if the problem is gone. If so then something you did is causing the problem.
* Find a stable ROM in the development forum and learn to flash, it's very easy.
Hi all.
First time in this part of the forums, so please excuse if it will sound like noob.
I've searched and couldn't find it so decided to post it...
I have a Touch HD Blackstone phone, I'm trying to cook myself a very small and quick ROM for it, as I do not need most of the apps you get with the other ROMs. When I cook plain ROM then virtual buttons (green, home, back and red) on it doesn't work. When I use one of the ROMs you get with the kitchen these work but got a lot of other apps.
Can someone tell me which module/ext package is responsible for handling these buttons? I really do not fancy trying them all 1 by 1, there is quite a few over there and cooking + flashing isn't the quickest thing to do.
Thanks in advance,
Yeramihi
Just be sure to include:
- ButtonSetting (i use version 3_16_0_0)
- TouchFlo (I use version 3_0_19142028)
and every thing will be OK

Thanks for reply.
Well, I have deliberately excluded TouchFlo from my ROM. But following your advice I Cooked empty ROM with just TouchFlo and ButtonSettings. Unfortunately On my phone it causes lots of problems. On same screens (regardles of app or menu itself) it takes over a second for the phone to register and acknowledge taps. And it always happens on the phone keypad.I can dial first two numbers but after that I need to hold my finger/stylus on the screen for at least second to be able to tap next number. Or any other key on the screen in a fact. I've managed to put this down to TouchFlo...
For some reason this happens only with SYS starting from 25xxx (more finger friendly version). I wouldn't mind using old one if I could only get some stock release of it from which I could start my work. Most of the old ones I could find are either fully modified (and I would like to start from square one) or links are expired.
So next question will be: can someone provide me with stock ROM for TouchHD version 21xxx please?
SiemensLover - Thanks for your advice - turned out to be exactly what I was looking, although it gives me another problem :/
Cheers
to solve the screen tap delay, be sure to have the following entry in ur registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE\Touch\Filter]
"MinimumTapTime"=dword:00000000
It will solve ur problem!

Hello
I've flashed the WP7 ROM for HTC HD2 which YukiXDA has posted in the developer section. Seems to run fine and the ability to send over cab-files to the phone just like official updates is amazing!
But I've got one little problem. Already searched the forum and posted in the ROM thread itself, but nobody seems to know the answer. Well, the point is that the volume is way too loud. After installing the ROM it starts with a volume of 15/30 which should be the average sound.. and it's horribly loud =/ I've seen that there's a cab which should fix it called "DEV_VOLUME_LOW.cab" - but I can't find it anywhere. Also tried google.. no luck
Maybe YukiXDA has removed the file by accident.. so can anyone tell me where I can get this cab-file?
Thanks in advance,
experience7
Okay.. after searching for a long time I found out that the file is called
DEV_VOLUME_LOW_LEO.cab
and I also found it on a chinese site
- experience7
Does it work? What is your experience with it?
Thanks
Well, the thing is that I'm now using Pdaimatejam's ROM and it's awesome! The WP7 Cab Sender threw out an error while I was trying to update to v8779 so I changed - and I guess this ROM fits me better It's also like a stock ROM (no custom designs, no limitations), it's updateable through Zune and via .cab-files, and it's fully unlocked (With ROM by xboxmod and YukiXDA you have to use WP7 Root Tools to set some apps as 'Trusted' - and even then some of them don't work [Like the Digital Power app]).
- experience7
too loud? turn down the volume. besides, the cab in.question is still on yuki's ftp site. besides, there is volume driver setting in leo advanced of which you have installed.
and pdaj's rom is not zune updateable...never was.
It's not just like turning down the volume. All sounds were noisy even if the volume level was 5/30. They were much too loud and distorted. Well, but just forget the app - i use pdaimatejam's ROM now. But anyway: I can't find it in the FTP repository. I can only find the .cab to set back to default (and noisy) volume: DEV_VOLUME_LOW_LEO_REMOVE.cab - I was looking for the DEV_VOLUME_LOW_LEO.cab which isn't there I guess. So I googled it and found it on a chinese site and.. it worked just fine.
Thanks for the information about the driver in LEO advanced. Didn't know about it.
Oh, OK. But the last thing I need are updates via Zune They're damn slow (everytime the whole system gets backed up; ...) and sometimes they just don't work. I had a problem updating Yuki-xboxmod ROM...
Anyway, just forget about this thread because the problem is pretty much solved.
