Looking for stable rom that has a thread with updated links. - Droid 2 General

Hi all
I just got my D2 rooted and installed LiquidSmooth-ICS, however it is not as stable as I hoped. I am searching for the most stable rom for the D2 that can be used for full functional daily use, I think CM7 might be that rom. I have read the CM7 thread but all the links are no longer supported. I am kind of at a stand still right now and would appreciate any help in getting my phone on the right rom. Thanks in advance.

I'm using LiquidICS which I think is different than LiquidSmooth. It seems pretty stable. I use an HTC Rezound as my main phone so I don't use the D2 too often but I haven't had any issues so far. I had to download it from droidforums though

Sorry, yes, they are one in the same rom. I meant LiquidICS.

I don't know why you're having issues 'cause I haven't had any with mine but here's a link to different ROMS.
Droid 2 ROMS
If you go back to CM7 it will be GB not ICS though.

Liberty
Just my 2 cents, but I ran Liberty on my Droid 2. Lean and fast...but most importantly, stable Unfortunately, the Droid 2 is kinda crappy to begin with, but the Liberty ROM seemed to get the most out of the device.
Hope you found something that worked well. As a sidenote, I ran CM7 on my Nook Color for quite some time, and I found it to be fairly good too.

What are the problems you are experiencing?
Just curious because I was looking for a good stable from to try on both my Dads and my D2....neither one is our everyday phone....thanks friends for any info

I have been running LiquidIcs for the past 2weeks. Don't have any problems thus far, has never crashed and I find it very stable, battery life good and fast and slim.

Looking to switch back to Sense

I have been using CyanogenMod for a while now, but I want to give Sense another try. I have a couple quick questions.
- Are there any Sense ROMs that are a fairly decent balance of fast and stable? I can deal with the occasional force close if the ROM is significantly faster than another, but I'd say stability is more of a priority to me.
- I don't particularly like the Sense People and Calendar apps (I've found they're a bit slower than the AOSP apps). Can I just install the AOSP versions without major stability issues? If yes, would the Sense dialer still be able to pull from the AOSP Contacts app?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I omitted one thing. I'd say that stability is the most important aspect, followed by battery life. I know battery life is mostly determined by the kernel. Can anyone recommend a good Sense kernel as well?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I would try WarmZ 2.2 or Incredibly Re-Engineered both of those are sense 2.0 and are stable and fast. I liked both. But it's up to you!
Kernel wise, the kernels they come with worked great for me.
SkyRaider 3.5 w/Lou's #8 - slick....
4.0 is due out very soon.
Nils business z with ziggys latest bfs wo havs kernel is very stable with xcellent battery

Z ROMs are nice, and quick, but there's been a spattering of reports on phantom calls and reboots. Hence, I would not say they are fully stable and dependable. There are also some quirks when using some apps (e.g. swype keyboard).
In my experience, you need to stick with 100% incredible framework if you value stability and reliability. I am a huge fan of both IncROM and Magnolia. They are both very fast in my book, and everything works out of the box, so to speak. When SR 4 hits in a few days it may be great as well.
To your question about contacts...
No, you cannot simply install AOSP versions onto a Sense ROM. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I've never had any issues with swype on z roms or had any random reboots or phantom calls (I'm not even sure exactly what that refers to). I've usually used the warm z nightlies. Guess it just depends on the phone/rom.

Okay, I have tried Incredibly Reengineered and IncROM. Are there any good ROMs that have more of a stock Sense look to them? I dont like all the transparency and custom colors and etc..

yeah, the issue I'm referring to is more of an annoyance. You know, how the Sense copy/paste functions cover up the Swype word choices when you double-click a word to correct it? It's the little things....Still, I am very torn between Z-ROMs and Inc ROMs because I do like many other things about the Z.

SkyRaider 3.5, and then 4.0 when it is released (you can look at image previews of 4.0 through ROM manager if you wish).

Oh ok, I never ran into that but I see what you mean. I think after we get the ota update things will be a lot smoother in regards to some of the z rom issues. Assuming we get an updated sense that is..

I use Swype. I also ask annoyed by that issue with the cut and paste option blocking the word choice/edit on MIUI. I assumed it was part of Gingerbread. Not so?
Edit- pls excuse my blunder. Of course Warm Z is not GB so that answers my question. Then again MIUI is AOSP and also has that.

My strong recommendation would be Magnolia. Options are superb.. battery is splendid... and the developer entertains personal requests.
Best stable and aesthetically pleasing rom for me.
warm z 2.2 nightly 4/14 is amazing. ziggys new kernel is in it and my phone has never been so smooth and snappy while on a sense rom. sense 2.0 is also a plus

Okay, I'll give Warm Z a shot. I'm using SkyRaider, and while I like the ROM, the battery life is very poor compared to what I was used to with CM7. I'm looking at under two hours of 3g browsing on a charge.
Tried both Chad's kernel as well as Lou's 8, and found similar results.

That's gotta be some kind of mistake. I've had the best battery life on Skyraider. I usually can get near 18 hours or more...

Anyone flash Shuji 2.5 or Liberty X3 RC?

Just wonder if anyone has flashed either of these two Roms? They were just released over the weekend. I know battery life will be great on both. Just wondering what type of customization's they have before I flash. As well of any known bugs that either may have. Thanks fellas.
Going to flash Liberty 3 soon and will report back.

Yea I'm running Liberty 0.9 right now and I'm wondering which new one to flash. I already get great battery life on Liberty and love the ROM, but Shuji is definitely appealing for me to try.

How is Shuji 2.5? What type of customization's and battery life??
Battery life was extremely great! Seemed to have the best battery of any ROM I've tried yet. There wasn't much to customize really, which is a disappointment. Kinda boring. I ended up just flashing the newest Liberty X3 and I love it. It has an ICS feel to it. Very smooth and framework is very similar to ICS. Hoping they come out with some new themes for Liberty soon.
I've flashed Shuji, but I would suggest Vortex if speed, stability, and battery life are what you're looking for. I have flashed many other roms, and so far Vortex eclipses them all. just my 2 cents

Ok cool thanks for the info. Thats what I was wondering. The developer just released Vortex 2.9 so I'll definitely be flashing this one.
Currently running LibertyX 3 coming from CM7.1 and I must say that this rom has the best battery life I have ever gotten coming from older versions of liberty, cm7, and so on. It is also pretty fast when navigation home screens and apps. I have not tried Shuji yet but what would that rom offer that I don't already get from LX3?
Huge fan of Liberty, ran 0.9 until CM7 became a bit more stable. Unfortunately, CM7's battery life is just too much of a hit to keep running it. Just flashed LibertyX3, and it's great! Seems much smoother than 0.9 and battery life so far is great. Heavy usage for 3 hours (restoring everything from backups) and still had 75% battery left.
Anybody flash shuiji or VorteX? I plan on flashing those in boot manager just to mess around.
I'll chime in with Liberty as well - been running it for about a week now. Best battery life I've had on any ROM so far. I know it's just a RC and some people are having issues, but I have not had any problems at all. Works great flashed over to Cricket as well, no issues with MMS or anything.
I have had liberty.9 gb and the sugui gb Im running cm7 nightlys for gb I prefer this the most 100s of themes, fonts, and all round good,I would also buy tomorrow tools great to have I bought it

Neutrino vs Darkside

I know its all personnel preference. But what rom is better. I'm looking for that happy medium for smooth performance with GREAT battery life. I am already running cm7 bat whatever its its alright. I have no need for webtop. HDMI mirrioring would be cool of it was landscape and was stable. And wireless hot spot and working gps is a must. Just wanting to flash something new and stick with it tired of dashing different things and having to set up my phone again any help will greatly be appreciated

I've noticed 15-18% better battery on Darkside than that on cm7 and I used to get great battery on that one so go figure
Plus, all works here pretty smoothly.

If your looking for speed go with Neutrino. Honestly its by far the fastest rom I have ever used. Battery is great, and the creator is very helpful with any problems you have.
Highly recommended!!
I have yet to be disappointed with darkside was playing around with miui for awhile. probably go to that once development is further along but back to darkside for now

Love it so far
right now on 4.4 lite version.
Although with all the cool stuff added on to the newer version it seems just a bit slower to me then back when i was on 2.xxx versions, but they are worth it.
still much better then anything stock though. (maybe it's just me, maybe it's not slower, or maybe it's just my phone, I don't know...)
big thanks to Nottach for such a great work and his time!

Hi all,
i use both, jumping from Neutrino to DarkSide & vice-versa via Nand-BackUp (and trying also others).
Neutrino is so smooth, fast and battery +/- the same as DarkSide.
Anyway i've found the DarkSide surprisingly similar about performance. Then mind that if you like to use WebTop or LapDock ROMs based on CM7 as Neutrino haven't these features.
I like Neutrino but it is more like pre-beta stage to me. It takes too much tweaking to get it to act normal. Currently on darkside 2.8 using landscape hdmi support

I always keep coming back to DarkSide 4.2 Lite
It's been pretty stable, fast and has all the bells and whistles I need (specially Webtop and Fingerprint Scanner).
I'm hoping that some day I could stick with MIUI once it matures enough, I'm willing to let go my Webtop as long as I can use HDMI Landscape Mirror with my Lapdock.
Miui alpha 3. Best battery life on my atrix out of any custom rom. Only thing is, porn doesn't load from the browser, and games have to be played on silent.
Besides that it's gold.

The Darkside, the best based motoblur. Neutrino, the best ROM. Neutrino is smooth, CM7 based with MIUI camera.
Just flashed neutrino 1.4 some time back. I think the battery is draining rather fast. But i'll let it stick for another week before I go back to Darkside. Motoblur still has a lot of my contacts which won't show up when I install any of the cm7 based roms .
Between Darkside and cm7 I feel Darkside had rather significantly battery life. However, the customizability of cm7 may be worth the sacrifice. To each his own, pick your favorite.

Hi I have been running neutrino 1.4s ee for week prior to that cm 7.1. I think neutrino has been quicker generally but it is very stripped down so by the time you have added things back to it think it then seems to have slowed up a bit. Boot is very quick, but my GPS doesn't work. I think they're trying to fix in next update. Quite a few fc's too. Tempted to try darkside soon though.
Edit. And I just had my first random reboot! But for some reason I prefer it to cm...

I like cm7.
I have been using YACK (Yet Another CM7 Kang) for a while and loved the speed of it. Before that, CM7. I believe you stick with a CM7 based rom and your good. You can still enjoy HDMI features also.
Perfect. Thank you. You have a link our URL for yack?

I am unsure if I am allowed to post a link here, so I will explain how to get to it. Its on RootzWiki site, in the DroidX Development section. It is not in its own sub-category, I believe its on the second page. You should have no problems finding it.

I also would recommend MIUI, regardless.
MIUI is probably the most full featured stable rom for the Droid X.

MIUI is nice, but I prefer the speed and stability of CM7. I always seem to have weird issues with MIUI, mainly bluetooth problems.
I installed YACK on my wife's x based of the recommendation. I found a couple of things annoying but might be a problem with many roms.
The button lights are either always on or always off. I would like them to come on with the screen back-light.
The notification LEDs don't work. I've tried to set them up in the KANG settings but so far haven't had any luck.
And last but not least my wife is on my ass about not having the "Droid" sound. (I can't win!)
MUIU for customization, CM7 is very sleek & stable. I like l
Liberty the best as all stock functions still work, very stable and seems to be the fastest of them.

Most stable ROM for daily use

In my opinion, CM7!
Very stable and very good battery life!

Pretty much any Gingerbread rom you install is going to be stable.
The dev's have worked a long time with it and the main difference is features now, not stability
I would say any rom based on cm7. I would recommend topsmarts gb rom also. Been using it for a couple of days and it's noticeably quicker than stock cm7 and has better battery life

To tell you the truth, my external sd card is only used for Nandroids. I have a backup of all the most recent ROMs. If i know I will need things not available on CM10, I just reboot into TWRP2 recovery and swap ROMs.

Most stable rom is CM7. I wouldn't do any of that modded CM7 stuff just regular old CM7 from http://get.cm. CM7 runs great, gets the best benchmarks, run the smoothest, gets the best battery life, and is completely stable. I haven't even had one crash on any app yet and I've been running and installing the latest nightlies for 2 weeks now. I love CM10 but for me I just got tired of the glitches/horrible battery life/overheating/no video camera/stability problems.
