Hey guys, I have an x2 so I'm new to this forum but I want to flash a ROM on my wifes Droid x (used to be my Droid x). What's the best ROM currently (with working camcorder cause that's a big deal apparently)? Thanks everyone!

I like cm7.
I have been using YACK (Yet Another CM7 Kang) for a while and loved the speed of it. Before that, CM7. I believe you stick with a CM7 based rom and your good. You can still enjoy HDMI features also.
Perfect. Thank you. You have a link our URL for yack?

I am unsure if I am allowed to post a link here, so I will explain how to get to it. Its on RootzWiki site, in the DroidX Development section. It is not in its own sub-category, I believe its on the second page. You should have no problems finding it.

If she is new to android i would suggest Miui due to its user friendliness and its customizability.

I also would recommend MIUI, regardless.
MIUI is probably the most full featured stable rom for the Droid X.

MIUI is nice, but I prefer the speed and stability of CM7. I always seem to have weird issues with MIUI, mainly bluetooth problems.
I installed YACK on my wife's x based of the recommendation. I found a couple of things annoying but might be a problem with many roms.
The button lights are either always on or always off. I would like them to come on with the screen back-light.
The notification LEDs don't work. I've tried to set them up in the KANG settings but so far haven't had any luck.
And last but not least my wife is on my ass about not having the "Droid" sound. (I can't win!)
MUIU for customization, CM7 is very sleek & stable. I like l
Liberty the best as all stock functions still work, very stable and seems to be the fastest of them.

So I have been using the End of days rom but it seems to have many lags such as gps, wireless tethering... Does anybody anybody know of a fully working rom that is fast, and stable??? It can be customized as well... But my main essentials are: 4G, Wireless tethering, and GPS
Try CM7.

Is CM7 a full working rom... Isn't there issues with the GPS??
If u have the GPS problem its an easy fix.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Koni's Elite 3 is fully functional. There's Nothing that doesn't work. And it's fast. It's been my daily since it was released last month
MikFroyo works flawlessly.
I have been using Deck's Rom which is a stock gingerbread/cyanogen mod which i love a few quirks but none of the main features.
if gingerbread isn't a big issue id say try out some non sense froyo roms (i use launcher pro mostly anyways) and they always seem snappy.
always the usuals like myns, fresh, and miks sense roms.
Trying out virus' sense 3.0 rom for the past few days and its worth the bugs for me...
hope it helps if anything just try one
I'm currently on Deck's 1.0. It's a 2.3.3 based rom and haven't had any problems with it thus far.
I was previously on Mikfroyo 4.62, which is an odexed 2.2 based rom that runs real smooth. It's pretty fast compared to a lot of the roms out, everything works on it and you can find many mods and themes for it to customize it.
As someone else stated, CM7's latest stable, 7.0.3.1, has also worked without any problems. Personally, I didn't have any issues with the GPS as others have stated, but there is also a quick fix for it if you do come across it.
Calkulin's Evio 2 v1.8
stable, fast as hell, battery saver, love it!!!
Didnt even read the OP lol but just posting based on the title. If you dont live in a 4G area, I highly recommend MIUI as its buttery smooth and beautiful, if 4G is a must, I recommend a version of the leaked gingerbread evo rom unless you have the brightness bug.
I would have to not recommend miui... its not 100% yet. While amazing, i would wait a couple weeks. pretty much any 2.2 rom is a good bet.
Thanks to all but the gps fix is not easy... I dont understand the msl reader thing... Also, I will look into the deck rom! But I definitely need the gps, 4g and wireless tethering work

I don't understand how the OP says he's looking for a ROM with no bugs, and there are posts that say "Rom x is great, except for a few bugs...."
Hey HipKat... Do you know of any stable, fast, smooth rom? With a working gps, wireless tether, and 4g...
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo. GPS, 4g, and the built in hotspot works. It's FroYo and the older Sense, but everything works.
Vaelpak is another good everything works rom.
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
Mikfroyo is also a good fully working choice.

Koni's Elite Series III FTW! Absolutely no problems. I love this ROM
I've been looking but where can I get MikFroyo roms from? I saw somewhere where there is a main site...

wondering which miui Rom works best on the dhd . Thanx
You could try SCI-MIUI-1.9.16-1.1 great rom

thanx guys ,
i just flashed the SCI-MIUI-1.9.16-1.1 to start with, lets see how it goes.
tried another MIUI rom before but non of the above and call recording or calls thru the speaker would not work.
thanx again
I'm using Freshly Squeezed too.

Freshly Sqeezed FTW. MrGaraks does wonders! miss MIUI! lol...
I tried a 1.7.15 official MIUI and seemed a bit laggish. I like MIUI style but i want a perfectly smooth rom, i hate lags
Suggestions? Sci-MIUI or Freshly Squeezed?
there are no major diffference between all of the dhd miui roms here. the differences are only optical and/or minor optimizations/customizations.
regarding lags and battery time it basically does not matter which miui custom rom you are using.
as far as i know no one of the miui cursom rom devs here is really changing anything on the original miui. or changes are only additional scripts for tweaking some parameters or including a customiuzation mod or a different kernel.
there is far less magic than many users might think.
mr.garaks freshly squeezed miui is a very good rom. the best about this rom is mr.garak himself because he is very fast at helping.
i cannt talk about rd miui (sorry if it is wrong, not sure about the name) by dekky as i didn't tested it. but judging from his changelist he also didn't changed much significant. so his rom should also work very good..
though, some of the tweaks one of us applies to his rom could make trouble for some users or sometimes it is simply a coincidence. try them out and where you feel most comfortable that you should keep. there is no real best miui rom.
I'm on newest official with supercharger and kernelizer and oc.. INCREDIBLE SPEED i just had to bold it
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using Tapatalk
I personally use the official released from "MIUIAndroid.com". That way I have a better idea of what's been done to my ROM, and I know that random tweaks haven't been done.
For issues regarding lag. I use LordModUE Kernel. Whether or not it actually makes a difference or if it's just the placebo effect I do not know. But I know that I enjoy the experience more with LordModUE.
Just my 2 cents.

@Arktihx : i fully understand you. that's one of the reasons why i started doing my own miui rom
i have a quite detailed change over stock list. and if this is not enough i am willing to pinpoint the changes. i think this should every dev do.
I know its all personnel preference. But what rom is better. I'm looking for that happy medium for smooth performance with GREAT battery life. I am already running cm7 bat whatever its its alright. I have no need for webtop. HDMI mirrioring would be cool of it was landscape and was stable. And wireless hot spot and working gps is a must. Just wanting to flash something new and stick with it tired of dashing different things and having to set up my phone again any help will greatly be appreciated

I've noticed 15-18% better battery on Darkside than that on cm7 and I used to get great battery on that one so go figure
Plus, all works here pretty smoothly.
Here's a shot of what I'm talkin about

If your looking for speed go with Neutrino. Honestly its by far the fastest rom I have ever used. Battery is great, and the creator is very helpful with any problems you have.
Highly recommended!!
I have yet to be disappointed with darkside was playing around with miui for awhile. probably go to that once development is further along but back to darkside for now

I've bin on DarkSide since version 2.0
Love it so far
right now on 4.4 lite version.
Although with all the cool stuff added on to the newer version it seems just a bit slower to me then back when i was on 2.xxx versions, but they are worth it.
still much better then anything stock though. (maybe it's just me, maybe it's not slower, or maybe it's just my phone, I don't know...)
big thanks to Nottach for such a great work and his time!

Hi all,
i use both, jumping from Neutrino to DarkSide & vice-versa via Nand-BackUp (and trying also others).
Neutrino is so smooth, fast and battery +/- the same as DarkSide.
Anyway i've found the DarkSide surprisingly similar about performance. Then mind that if you like to use WebTop or LapDock ROMs based on CM7 as Neutrino haven't these features.
I like Neutrino but it is more like pre-beta stage to me. It takes too much tweaking to get it to act normal. Currently on darkside 2.8 using landscape hdmi support
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I always keep coming back to DarkSide 4.2 Lite
It's been pretty stable, fast and has all the bells and whistles I need (specially Webtop and Fingerprint Scanner).
I'm hoping that some day I could stick with MIUI once it matures enough, I'm willing to let go my Webtop as long as I can use HDMI Landscape Mirror with my Lapdock.
Miui alpha 3. Best battery life on my atrix out of any custom rom. Only thing is, porn doesn't load from the browser, and games have to be played on silent.
Besides that it's gold.

The Darkside, the best based motoblur. Neutrino, the best ROM. Neutrino is smooth, CM7 based with MIUI camera.
Just flashed neutrino 1.4 some time back. I think the battery is draining rather fast. But i'll let it stick for another week before I go back to Darkside. Motoblur still has a lot of my contacts which won't show up when I install any of the cm7 based roms .
Between Darkside and cm7 I feel Darkside had rather significantly battery life. However, the customizability of cm7 may be worth the sacrifice. To each his own, pick your favorite.

Porn on the phone is just not the same. But I hate the silence on my Siri clone apps.
Running MIUI Alpha
Hi I have been running neutrino 1.4s ee for week prior to that cm 7.1. I think neutrino has been quicker generally but it is very stripped down so by the time you have added things back to it think it then seems to have slowed up a bit. Boot is very quick, but my GPS doesn't work. I think they're trying to fix in next update. Quite a few fc's too. Tempted to try darkside soon though.
Edit. And I just had my first random reboot! But for some reason I prefer it to cm...

I'm a fan of the D2G MIUI port for the D2. Far, far more stable than stock GB, and much easier to customize.
Port?
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium
It was originally developed on the Droid 2 Global by aceoyame and a few others I think, and then adapted/ported over to work for the D2 by aceoyame as well.
Are you sure? I'm pretty sure its the other way around.

I use a standard Gingerbread 2.3.3. In my opinion, it is more stable thаn cm7
Actually the newest builds of cm7 are more stable than stock.

Been using Galnet MIUI 2.2.10 for close to a month I believe. Very, very stable and lots of cool little tweaks. ICS framework. 60% or so battery left at the end of every day.
Apex is a right choice for Droid 2.
tried CM7 and liquid smooth... liquid smooth seems to be the most stable and snappiest. CM7 was always buggy and lagged a lot, especially when unlocking the screen.
Well I just put the newest ics build on and the camera works. So that is the best rom for droid 2 now.

I to, had been using Galnet MIUI for a while and loved it. Recently moved to the MIUI ICS 2012.3.12 build. Was a little hard to get used to having no app drawer ( MIUI puts all apps on home pages ). After I moved to my present one, I installed the Alt Drawer, found here at XDA. At least I have an app drawer if I ever need one, lol.
I like the MIUI because it gives you a lot of governors to try and has the CPU tweaks, all in the Boot Menu. You should give it a try.

A lot of times I still use Launcher Pro on MIUI. I get the stability and options of MIUI with a snappy stock app drawer and lots more customization options. The only things that I don't like about the default MIUI launcher is that it doesn't have the drawer and the ability to change the number of rows and such, but as it's simply a launcher you can just change the default.

Hi all
I just got my D2 rooted and installed LiquidSmooth-ICS, however it is not as stable as I hoped. I am searching for the most stable rom for the D2 that can be used for full functional daily use, I think CM7 might be that rom. I have read the CM7 thread but all the links are no longer supported. I am kind of at a stand still right now and would appreciate any help in getting my phone on the right rom. Thanks in advance.
I'm using LiquidICS which I think is different than LiquidSmooth. It seems pretty stable. I use an HTC Rezound as my main phone so I don't use the D2 too often but I haven't had any issues so far. I had to download it from droidforums though

I don't know why you're having issues 'cause I haven't had any with mine but here's a link to different ROMS.

If you go back to CM7 it will be GB not ICS though.
Liberty
Just my 2 cents, but I ran Liberty on my Droid 2. Lean and fast...but most importantly, stable Unfortunately, the Droid 2 is kinda crappy to begin with, but the Liberty ROM seemed to get the most out of the device.
Hope you found something that worked well. As a sidenote, I ran CM7 on my Nook Color for quite some time, and I found it to be fairly good too.
What are the problems you are experiencing?
Just curious because I was looking for a good stable from to try on both my Dads and my D2....neither one is our everyday phone....thanks friends for any info
