I never had anything against apple or steve jobs UNTIL this problem showed up. The issue with the iphone 4 just justified everybody's assumptions about steve jobs and his fan boys. I lost any respect i had for jobs when he made the stupid decision to ignore the antenna issue...
He should have just given everybody free bumpers, that would have been the cheapest and most viable solution...Now he's screwed

just move that gap to the bottom of the phone on futur models? I mean who puts there fingers on the bottom of the phone when making a call or even the top for that matter. The top might even be a better choice. Also isnt the antena a bad thing to be touching most things I read say not to have the antena to close to your face.
And lastly with a case its no longer the thinest smart phone.
Wait one more. How can we call this phone a smart phone with such a stupid flaw, im not even sure we can call it a phone, maybe a mini ipad since it dont make calls lol.

Apple doesn't really care about the problem on current phones. They will have it fixed on the 4g version. Same reason they didn't put a higher res camera on the back and the front. Just more reason for fanboys to upgrade again. Then the 4GS will have the video over 4G instead of wifi only and again another upgrade. Its perfect strategy for apple. Its always worked for them in the past. Why change now??

That's what I am afraid of too. Germany sucks, thats why they allowed the ban.
Hope there will be a solution for both, changing something in design. Like placing the display 1mm deeper then yet.

You can still purchase the Galaxy Tab (all variants) in Germany. Only Samsung is forbidden to import it. All other companies still can. I just purchased the 10.1 (P7500) in Germany.

Actually it's more than just the shape of tablet. Samsung completely ripped off charger and cable design from Apple. Their latest Series laptop (forgot the number) resemble the MacBook Pro. Ports position etc.
So I wouldn't say it's unfair. Samsung just got to wake up and design something different. Even charger design is copied. Kinda disgusted.
Am not an Apple supporter but trying to be neutral here. Love my Tab anytime over iPad.

Regarding your LG. It's different design no comparison. Don't just look at the surface, it's more than just the device but other hardeare within.

Apple has it wrong on the GTap 10.1
Actually I agree with most that the GTab 10.1 is different then the iPad 2. The screen is a diferent Rez, the processor is a Tegra 2, the casing is completely different - Plastic. The speakers are stereo over mono, the charger while it looks similar is actually wired much diferent. It is unlikely you would be able to plug it into your iPhone or vice versa. The built in cameras are different, and most of all it is android and not iOS.
I'm sorry Apple but I think you have this one wrong. I actually have an iPhone 4, and am happy with it, but I can see myself going android all the way the next time around after all the sueing Apple has been doing.

I haven't heard anyone bought an ipad and got home and it was a gtab.

It's not that I don't like iPhones (i do prefer Androids) but its the fact that Apple is suing everyone that makes me hate them so much.
I like competition in the mobile market. It's good for consumers. Companies competing = cheaper devices for consumers.
As much as I would like everyone in the world to have an Android... I need someone to make fun of for owning a device that cannot compete with Android.
Android will take over the mobile market in the next decade or two if Apple doesn't quickly pull something innovative out of their asses.

Man I read that article last night and was laughing the entire way. Title fits whats in the article too. Samsung is putting on their rape gloves.

They want a 2.4% share of every product Apple sells (I think I read going rate was more like .4 or something like that).
Yesterday they asked for an ungodly amount fee for licensing their patents and Apple said No!
Gonna be a nasty court case that will change everything down the lines probably.

I was very disappointed to read the verdict - sad day for Samsung and their users. My question is - if Apple gets the judge to invoke the injunction does that mean that our rooted phones will also have to strip out the offending routines? Just makes me hate the zealots even more. Wonder how many of the members of the jury and judge had iphones? Does that mean that Apple cannot have any part of Project Butter?? Love my JB and the fact that my 2 year old phone is still cutting edge!!
On a different note, you mentioned that you are using FFC. I have installed one, but so far have not been able to fire it up. Is there any zip file with the i9000 FFC files on it? Would really like to know if mine is working.

All I want to see is Google doing something. I want google to sneak some patents over to the OEM's and help em out a bit.

Stock AOSP is not the problem, its mostly over Samsung's Touchwiz UI. Having familiar icons etc.

The fact of the matter is nobody bought a sgs1 or any other Sammy products thinking it was apple products.
When you go to the big box stores apple products are usually merchandised in another area than most other OEM's.
Apple just has their panties in a wad because Sammy is actually selling more smart phones than them and their products are comparable, better IMO, to theirs.
Its not Sammy's fault that apple has only released like six smart phones. They put out products to appeal to everyone, not just an elite group of pretentious asses.

I just saw the most incredible interview involving a Mercedes Benz executive talking candidly about his disgust with how Apple has been acting lately in court about the whole smartphone ordeal. I wish I could find it to share in full but I came accross it while channel surfing. In a nutshell, he said "We at Mercedes own over 80,000 patents worldwide including the rights to the first self-propel
led 4 wheeled vehicle, or as we all would call it today, the 'CAR'. We could take every car manufacturer in the world to court with legitemate claims that they copied our idea and force them put out 3 or 2 or 5 wheeled vehicles etc. Do we? Of course not! We exist today as we do because we bring the absolute best we can build to the market year after year. When he's asked if they're worried about the constant attempts to copy them as Apple claims Samsung and Google did, he just smiles and says "let them try, that's what has kept us at the top of our craft for over 100 years. Why would we stop now?" -Absolutely brilliant! That's how a real innovative company acts. Mercedes for president!

According to USA Today, Samsung lost the vast majority of the substantial patent violation issues in the CA suit with damages of over $1B awarded to Crapple.
Unfortunately, it looks like Samsung is in pretty deep poo just about now. It won't affect OG Epic users, as we are using EOL hardware. But for those of us considering upgrades it might have some impact. I'm thinking long and hard about buying an SGS3 or any other Sammy product right now. They are going to be a mess for at least a year while all of this patent stuff gets worked out.
Anyone else have thoughts on what kind of impact this might have?

I just want to get a Samsung Captive Glide, switch to Net10/Straight Talk, and call it a day. I have no idea what this means as far as downloading or updating apps or updating the system specs or whatever. But that's all I want until the NEXT powerful Android with a keyboard comes out.
Right now I just have the Epic 4G, and when I get $500 I'll get the Captivate Glide. I hope by then nothing hinky happens when I try to activate then unlock it.

The only effect it will have will be Apple's attempt to go after companies like Motorola & HTC. Pinch-to-Zoom is on every android device, I think and they will most likely use this victory to add fuel to their nuke android campaign.
There will be a lot of change to the android software and a lot of change android phone designs that are rectangular.
And last F*** Apple.

As bad as this could be for Samsung, look at it this way, they could come up with something more innovative than apple ever will. Maybe Samsung will be the first manufacturer to use mini-projectors in mobile devices and follow through with those plans. (And patent designs before release)

Well Samsung has been attacking apple for a while on purpose. Look at the adapter module for their chargers looks just like the iPhone Version. And the phone icon looks just like the iOS version. That's about it.No reason to sue its all about advancing technology. I think apple is just trying to get rid of competition. I love Samsung, I love iOS. How much different can a phone icon look and still be recognized as a phone icon? Was apple the first company ever to make something rectangular with rounded edges? Were they the first to make a user interface with squares? How can they patent this stuff and sue over it? Its the most generic stuff. Ridiculous. And they sued their largest partner, who makes about 90% of the components in the iPhone/iPad. Apple seems to be done innovating. They take features from Android and then try to make them sound revolutionary. Then, they sue the companies actually innovating and make their products delayed or taken off shelves. The iPhone 1 was revolutionary and really made the smartphone market the way it is today (everyone has one, not just geeks or business people). But they haven't done anything since then. They've made the camera better, screen a bit better, and changed processor.

Crapple is just scared because theyre riding this iphone garbage train as long as they can. Samsung will surely slam a future product in their faces. Lets face it, without steve jobs, the innovation is over for them.

Samsung made 3.45 Billion in a quarter of 2012. Do you really think they can't handle a 1 billion dollar advertisement? This didn't kill them.

It seems to have pissed off alot of folks who used to like Apple and their stale, monotonous product line. I have three cohorts who converted to Android and Windows phones as a result of this lawsuit crap. And I can't wait till they announce the iPhone 5 and everyone sees what a big "nothing" it is. The iSheep are gonna look like kids who wake up Christmas morning to find a stocking full of coal...

Dont be silly. The iSheeple will look at that piece of coal and harp on how shiny a diamond they have. ROFL!

While it sucks they did lose, I do hope it doesn't result in a takedown of major phones. Samsung has been releasing some interesting stuff, and I really do want to hold out on getting a new one 'till they come out with a new slider. I can't imagine what I'd choose if Samsung's development was hindered because of this stupid ordeal.
