I just rooted my MB526 2.3.6 build 4.5.1-134_DFP-139 using Doomlord's tool, and it works great
Now I'd like to install 720p video camera recording patch, but do I need to install custom bootloaders, recovery, ROMs or anything else?
Sorry but I'm new to root
EDIT: I installed CM10, but the patch does not work

I flashed the 2.3.6 TIM Brasil im my device, and they told me in a blog that i could not change to any custom rom anymore, so i thinked it would be a good idea to ask before trying... To install this rom(ms2ginger) i can use only the droid2bootstrap to recover the zip file or i need to follow the downgrade tutorial before?
(Sorry for my poor english...)
Edit:i flashed the ms2 ginger without using the tezet downgrade sbf and it worked! But camera preview is not working! It takes photos but i cannot see the preview... i must reflash the rom again and flash the downgraded sbf?

Edit: Since i flashed a full 2.3.6 rom does this mean that i will not have 720p recording in the ms2ginger?

Actually, as long as you don't update to Vivo 2.3.6 or the Personal 2.3.6 (argentinian carrier), you can go back to Froyo and install any custom rom you want, there's a tutorial in the Android Development section. Sorry I can't help you with ms2ginger, I haven't used it yet.
And why do you say that you'll not have 720p recording? I'm pretty sure it works.
720p is only working on official roms and argen2stone and ms2ginger coz this 2 roms are based on official roms, debloated and deblurred,

I already have seem the downgrade tutorial but i wanted to know if i need to downgrade before flashing ms2ginger since it is based on the stock roms but i will try to flash it and see what happens.
PS:i had asked about the camera because in his post walter79 said: "* via greenbreadmod 2.0 and if you never flashed a Android 2.3.6 full sbf" and I got a litlle confused... so thank you by the answer .

Hello,
I have installed CM7 for Defy(not plus) in my cellphone perfectly.
So then, I found the CM7 Defy+ nightlys and I'm trying to install it. But when I install the ROM on it and reboot, it stays in the initial logo forever.
Could you help me?
Best regards.
please help
Try another rom, like MUIU or any other rom and see if the start loop is overcome.
Did you wipe the memory after?
If you want to instal defy+ nighties, you first have to flash the gingerbread kernel. (CM9kernel.zip)
So now flash the stock ROM and start again. You probably downgraded to instal three normal defy nightly do you have to flash a defy+ ROM with the same bl nr. After that root instal 2nt... and flash the defy+ nightly (and wipe). If you want to be able to switch, you will have to flash the downgrade sbf again and flash the CM9 kernel. Then you can switch with just flashing the kernel and ROM (sbf wipe)

Do cm7 nightly have these fixes? I'm running nightly now and camera seems ok, but I don't know yet about the battery.
Hello,
I want to know if anybody knows a way to install custom roms on a rooted Droid 2 (2.3.4) with the latest bootloader. I've been trying, but I'm facing an annoying little problem. In order to root my Droid 2 with the latest bootloader, I needed to used the patched 2.3.4 firmware. Whenever I try to install a custom rom through CWM, I get an error telling me that the installation has failed. It says right before the error that I need to make sure I have the OTA update and not the leaked version. I can't get the OTA though because I'll be unable to root that one.
So, does anyone know a work around for installing a custom rom on a non OTA firmware? Any tips, suggestion, apps, links....just anything would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
CJKurow
Update:
I found a solution that I felt was risky, but I took the chance and it worked

official cm7 is the only rom that has a kernel check
removing it is not that risky
edit: other gb roms should install fine

yes a root method, was found
only one 2.3.4, that i know of 621
& cm7 is based on 2.3.3/ 4.5.601
that's why kernel doesn't match

Hello dear Community,
I'm using CM for quiete a while now and read many posts in different forums, but unfortunately I still couldn't find a satisfactory explanation which "systems" are running on my Defy+.
More specifically:
I installed a BL7 stock ROM update after I bought my Defy+. Then I waited some weeks until there was a way to root this via a CN Rooted SBF and installed CM9/10.
I now want to know if there is still data associated to that stock ROM left on my Defy+, or whether it was all overwritten by the CM10 ROM
Might any remains of the CN stock ROM be responsible for problems with connectivity / Should I install everything again with the EU Rooted SBF?
I feel puzzled about all the layers of systems on the Defy... theres a SBF, firmware, kernel, 2ndInit, 2ndBoot, CM, ...
How do these all these depend/contain/build up on each other? (i.e. does CM10 with 2ndboot contain its own kernel/firmware?)
I hope you understood my questions
Thank you in advance.
Components of stock rom should have nothing to do with the connectivity problem.
Just think of it this way, sbfs to you are irrelevant because you're on bl7. Basically, cm10 wipes system(stock Rom), and you wipe the data and cache, so there's nothing really left(except for the stock kernel). The exploit we use to run custom kernel bypasses the stock kernel and uses kexec to load another kernel on top of it.
2ndinit is what we use to run custom recovery and control the initialization of the custom roms by use of modules, such as to enable overclocking.
2ndboot basically uses kexec and loads the custom kernel(as in cm10 and the in development cm10.1).

Hi
I had a Motorola Defy mb525.
Bricked the phone while trying to install CM9
Got it alive somehow by Flashing it with .sbf
Now my phone shows as mb526 and I was able to root it again.
System Version - 45.0.231.mb526.AsiaRetail.en.03
Version - 2.3.6
Kernel - 2.6.32.9-ge281b6e [email protected] #1
The problem now is I am not able to flash any of the Custom ROM's.
Tried CM10, Cm9 and also the latest kitkat
Downloaded different ones for each ROM's.
I get the message when i try to update from SDcard "Signature verification failed"
If someone could help me in Upgrading to JellyBean or Kitkat

For KitKat you need to flash an updated recovery. Check the thread.
