Google Now - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

Is there a way to get Google Now to work on s3 without having to install cm10?

Just follow this thread and you'll be good to go:

make sure you're rooted though

Google Now for ICS w/ Voice!

Just incase you didn't know, voice support for Google Now is available on ROOTED ICS ROMs.
There is a catch: It isn't the Official Jelly Bean Voice Search, so no offline capability, not as fast or accurate but it works!
Check it out here:

Note: I did not create this or anything. Just spreading the word.
awesome, can't wait to try
Cool, I might give it a try once I root my phone. Glad to see progress though on this.
I'm on CM10 so I'm using that but if you are still on a TW ROM then please let me know if this works.

ics on galaxy tab sch 1800

Hi all
I am trying to install ICS on my Verizon original Galaxy Tab. I have rooted it. and it's running galaxy cubed. (actually a friend did this so i don't know exactly what he did) we found several different roms for ICS but none worked.
Does anyone have any idea? or know how to do this?
oops
oh yeah i have cmw 2 running. i think i need a newer version of this. any idea where i can find that? i am really new at this! thanks for any help
Good to see more users on here with sch-i800. I have 2 of them one i put cm9.1 and the other is having some issues which i am trying to resolve. You can get cm9.1 stable you can get it from http://get.cm. The Verizon tab it the p1c also download the gapps from http://goo.im/gapps. you will need these 2 files to get things working properly with ics on your verizon galaxy tab. You need CMW 5 or better to flash it. i suggest following this guide to get to cm9 http://geekniggle.blogspot.com/2011/12/loading-ice-cream-sandwich-on-verizon.html
if you have any futher questions please feel free to ask.
thanks
Thanks! I have ICS up and running and love it so far. However the TV out doesnt recognize the cable any more. Do you know a way to resolve this or is it the bug i have to deal with?
thanks again for your help!
ok.. So I am asking... lol
Let me start off by saying I am extremely new to this whole process, but I do have a SCH-I800 and I would like to see about updating it. and I noticed on the post you had a link to an blog posting on a guide to do this, but that link doesn't seem to work. Any chance I could get that link from you? I am not sure what all the abbreviations are listed below (CMW5, p1c, etc). Does this "guide" also tell you what you need to download to make this work?
Thanks for helping a Newbie out...
I have had the tab since May 2011 and have ran every Rom imaginable. I never could get the video out to work on any cyanogenmod roms. I am back to running 2.3.4 rooted since it seems to run smoother and everything works.

Has anyone been able to put the AOSP Browser on 4.2?

I keep trying but I keep getting app not installed. And I already checked the unknown sources box.
Here: the hack is for Nexus 7

What I dont know is if you have to be rooted or not (I am so I dont know)
I am rooted. Just tried this but it didn't work. All I want is a good flash browser. Plus it's definitely faster than chrome.
It did work for me,
Download the 4.2 Apk browser from the Q&A section of Nexus 10 forum..
And follow all the steps correctly from the previous link..

[Q] do i need gapps in this case?

Forgive me if this is somewhere else. I've searched fairly thoroughly and can't seem to find my answer. I just flashed cyanogenmod, first time, and when the phone was going through setup it linked to my gmail account and loaded all of my apps. Does this remove the need to install gapps? All the icons seem to be present and are functional.

Some roms have GApps embedded in them by developers only .. if it linked to ur google account than u have flashed one such rom ... so no need of flashing GApps
thank you

[ROM][UBL] Mahdi 2.7 - Self-compiled Unofficial build.

Hi guys, as you've seen on dev thread, the development for Mahdi ROM for our SP seemed like stopped at 2.6 version. Not sure if the dev is still continuing to develop for it(2.7 version has been out for awhile on other devices). So while I was a bit impatient, I took the chance to learn how to self-compile from source. And it turned out it's almost the same as the procedure in CM wiki.
If any of you are interested on my build and willing to try it also, I'll upload it later when I get home(EDIT:uploaded). Been testing it since last night and it seems fine overall. The charging though seems like a bit slower than CM, I hope it's only because it is my first charge.
Version 2.7 is awesome, you can tap the heads-up for the app to float from an existing app(ala Hover/floating notification of PA).
I won't post it in Dev section as I'm not a dev and take this as it is, no support will be coming from me, lol. Maybe some other users can help each other out if there are issues.

WARNING:
The navigation bar(back-Home-recent) will be laggy when you have another HOME launcher installed, make sure you only have one home launcher installed at any given time. You can also try the "freeze" function in Titanium Backup. And if you want to freeze or uninstall Google Now launcher, you should do it for the two apks, the google now launcher itself and the Google Search apk. I personally use Nova launcher and I just freezed Trebuchet, Google Search and Google Now.

@neXus PRIME for some build queries I threw at him last week, thanks mate
EDIT: I just received a messagefrom the dev himself @alivanov79 and I think he's still going to continue to support his ROM here after his vacation, nice to know. For the mean time, enjoy this build if ever you installed it.
