Firstly,i would like to apologise for making another thread with the same topic if there's any.I've searched the forums and most of the threads seem to be 'Dead'.
Last week,my phone had something strange going on.When it's at sleep mode,it automatically lights up.I picked it up and i see this thing called the 'Navi-Panel'.The screen was in landscape mode. The only thing that i can access was the phone.I managed to exit the Navi-Panel through the task manager but the problem's still there,my phone and my SMS are in landscape. Also, the phone calls that i make and received are always on loudspeaker mode.I also cannot connect the phone to the computer via the USB. I've tried various ways to fix the phone such as hard reset and rom flashing but it's still the same.I'm currently on the Stock rom version 1.66.707.1(76641) WWE. Can someone post a solution for my problems?
It happened to me twice when a tiny drop of water dropped on the micro usb slot, creating a temporary short circuit.
Make sure the slot is clean, (no conductor material inside).
It may be a small chance, but it is still a chance...
I have the same problem
My phone got wet last night due to rain. And the Navi panel kept coming up. So I set the option for Navi panel not to have an automatic launch. Thats fine now, but I got another problem to sort through. When ever I pick up a call the speaker is automatically turned ON. Its embarrassing now. I am just hoping its temporary..
If anyone has an idea on how to turn off the automatic speaker on call pick up, pls let me know.. Thanks in advance.
Whats more is: I cant connect to the Activesync now. The phone is charging well though.
I can probably live with that since I can connect through Blue Tooth. Hoever, if someone has any idea on how to turn off the "Auto external Speaker mode", pls let me know .. any registry key ... or any other means.
Thanks in advance.
This happened to me a few months back now on a wet evening, assuming the phone must have got wet through my pocket. Tried everything to fix it, left it to dry out for 24 hours near radiator with the battery out to no avail. But then flashed a new ROM and it started working. (Had to flash the same ROM three times till it started working. Every ROM since has been fine)
Hope this helps.
Thanks .. That gives me a hope. Could you pls tell me what ROM you flashed.. may be its something to do with that specific ROM..
Activesync died...
Thanks all of you who contributed to the forum. My HD2's activesync stopped working yesterday... and main challenge was to put shipped ROM and send it to the repair...
There is only one thing that I could not explain... When OS is up and running (regardless whether it is cooked or shipped) there is no active sync can be established (only charge function is working). However, when phone is in boot loader (RGB screen) I could connect it thru USB and install ROM from computer...

Thanks for trying to help XAH, but this was the first thing in my troubleshooting process. Usually it helps when you plug in the phone, computer acknowledges it, but pop in warning sign that USB device is not recognized. In my case there was no reaction (on multiple computers) - like nothing is plugged in... Will see what repairer says... I'll post an update as soon as I'll hear from them.
got my HD2 from repair centre
I've got my HD2 back from repair centre... and it works fine... most bizzar part is paper say that nothing was done...
a friend of me hat this problem some time ago. it disappeared after about 1 or 2 weeks iirc.
Same problem for me, but i've changed 5 diferent rom's and nothing...i will try the airdryer now
When I picked it up it would only boot to a screen with a triangle with an exclamation mark in it and it says Software Update Failed! Please try again. He said he was trying to load Android but didn't know what he was doing and every time he pulls the battery that's as far as it gets. I figured for $20 maybe I can get it into bootloader and do something with it. I got it home and did a battery pull, put it back in and held the power button and volume down and nothing. Now it won't even turn on at all. When I picked it up he did a battery pull and turned it on to the Software Failed screen but now nothing. I've left the battery out for an hour, had it plugged in to 2 different wall chargers and every USB port on my computer and nothing. I even stripped a USB cable and held the wires to the + - terminals on the battery for 15 minutes and nothing. I'm hoping the battery is just shot or not taking any charge and a new one might at least get me to the bootloader.
I suggest you make a Gold Card to flash it with. This is like the one almost assured flash of Windows Mobile to your HD2. a Gold Card will force a flash sometimes. If you do not know what a Gold Card is just Google Gold Card for HTC HD2.
If you can flash Windows Mobile back to the HD2 you can then try Android again on it if you want.

Because at the moment it's a $20 paperweight. Black screen, no charging light, won't even go to the software failed screen. I don't know anyone else with another HD2 I can use to check the battery or to use to charge it if it is dead. If worse comes to worse I'll send it off to HTC.

I read the tutorial a couple times and I'm guessing the phone would have to have power to do this. This puppy is dead at the moment. For all I know it was Raptured during the night.
check the battery pins carefully for bent pins, and also, just to check, when you did the bare usb cable charging, you put neg to neg, live to live, right?(black to - red to +, , + being the outer one)
Id probably try a phone shop, see if they'l let you put a battery in for a few seconds, just to confirm if its the battery that has died, and if theyre really nice maybe theyl let you try your battery in their hd2.
If it IS the battery and you get it working, its dead simple, no goldcard or anything like that needed,, , the exclamation screen you got is from flashing an incorrect (wrong carrier/region) stock rom via sd card whilst hspl was installed, (its been removed now, by the start of teh sd card flash, thats why it gave rom update fail) and simply entering bootloader and reflashing using a rom correct for your serial will fix that.
(or indeed entering bootloader, applying hspl then flashing your chosen cooked rom and radio, , , or radio and magldr, whatever you want to do. Its a scary screen the exclamation one, but its one of the easiest to get past)
Yeah a phone shop is probably a good idea. There's a T-Mobile pretty close. I had an HD2 I sold last year that I had put some different ROMs on and Android so I figured if this one was stuck at the software failed screen it would be a pretty easy fix. I used it in the Yucatan for the GSM signal plus it doubles as a pretty good camera and bought this one because I'm going back. But reading the threads about it just being dead and not booting to anything makes me think it might be trashed. If it is I'm only out $20. If it's to pricey for HTC to fix it there are a couple on craigslist cheap with broken LCD's. Might try piecing 2 together.
unfortunately looks like you've bricked the unit, you can actually resurect it by using JTAG software/hardware http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XroEPU4qyuM

That's what I was thinking. But I didn't do it, all I did was pull the battery. If it is it's only $20
Its not the famous tmous radio brick, unless you didnt mention something you did in your first post.
the only way it gets that kind of brick is flashing a radio from a regular HD2, the fact that the flash failed (exclamation screen) and you say you didnt try to flash anything else would point to a different problem. If the radio HAD flashed, the phone wouldnt have booted even to the excl screen.
You see, when you flash a stock rom via sd card, if hspl is installed it will allow the flash to start, but step 1 is first changing the spl(removing hspl) then the phone restarts into the new spl, and flashing continues. But because hspl is no longer there, cid checks fail and the flashing stops, so no radio gets flashed, so no radio brick.
radio bricks happen when you flash a non tmous stock rom via Goldcard or via usb whilst hspl is installed, because over USB, hspl is NOT removed at step 1 so the flashing is allowed to continue, the radio gets flashed, the phone dies.

You see the problem is I don't know what this guy did to it. All he said was he tried to load Android. When I picked it up in would power on and stop at the Software Failed screen. After I pulled the battery it does absolutely nothing.

exactly, which is why im suspecting battery/battery pins/power issue, because it DID come on for you, meaning it isnt a radio brick, and the pins are very easily bent when the battery is pulled, one slight twist to the angle of rotation and the casing on the battery around the flat connectors catches the pins on the way up and out.
If he was installing android, he most likely installed magldr, which prevents teh battery from charging when the phone is off, hence me wanting to double check you were doing the USB bare wire charger correctly, because a totally dead battery won't charge in the phone, if magldr is there. And so, back to testing if its teh battery, thats what you need to confirm before you can move on,,,,, is the battery alive but flat? ten seconds with a known good battery, or a HD2 running winmo (can charge when off with winmo installed) will answer it for you.
Yes I made sure it was hooked up correctly. I held the wires on the terminals for what I thought would be long enough. Maybe the battery is junk? Thanks for the pointers though. I do appreciate the help.
In my first post last night I took it you were having a issue with getting a ROM to flash. I see now your issue is not this so I do apologize.
Samsamuel has givin you some great advice. Have you tried connecting your wall charger to the HD2 and then power it on? This is how I would get my HD2 to boot back up so I could charge if I accidentally let the battery drain all the way down and I was using MAGLDR. (Not a problem anymore thanks to cLK)
Now seeing as you do not have a ROM to boot into this will not charge your battery but just maybe prove the HD2 is not dead. I agree with Samamuel about it not being bricked, I think you just have battery/power issues right now, namely the lack of power.
Go to this thread that just sprung up last Tuesday in the HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A and General forum. Read the first post as it gives a method of charging your battery when dead using MAGLDR. I have not personally tested this cause I no longer use MAGLDR. I can not promise you it works but it is worth a shot. Let us know if this worked for you and post in the thread I linked as well if it works. That thread needs a confirmation post.
I tried 2 different wall chargers and just tried to tip in the thread you suggested. Nothing. Even tried a PowerMat for 3 hours.

I just unbricked my HD2 from the white screen with no logo. I spent the whole day reading hunderts of post about the white screen- bricked HD2 - the solution was to change the mainboard (at least the official service did that) and the people mostly sold the phone as bricked, its maybe also an production problem with HD2 because it's caracteristic and usual for it.
I think the Radio ROM is the problem and that it's a hardware error caused by overheating(i will report if the problems occurs again but i think it works now).
How it began(STORY):
I went on a trip and used google maps and route66 with GPS/WIFI all the time. My OS was Android Nand ICS and it wasn't too hot. The first problems started with random white screen occurrences trought the day as i was using google maps so i took out the battery and restarted, it worket but soon after the white screen occurred again. The white screen occurrences became more often and at the end there was only the white screen. (people reported the the phone somtimes worked when they recharded the battery and left it alone for a few days, after that they flashed the new rom )
I used the ICS rom for a few months with no problems(same reported from other users).
One theory(i read it on the forum) that the ICS is constantly overheating the HD2 + route66 mabe it bricked because of it.
So there is no other way, it has to be an hardware problem but the good news is it can some kind of be fixed (because i think it caused an radio mailfunction) !
SOLUTION:
So this is the way how i solved it:
- I downloaded an old version of the stock HD2 WM rom(i found somewhere that it can fix the problem) so with radio.
- I extracted the .exe file with WinRAR(or 7z, winzp...) and renamed the RUU_Signed.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh
- I copied LEOIMG.nbh to my SD Card (they said it should max 4GB, and has to be FAT32)
- I entred the HSPL with Volume down + Power and it found the rom on the SD card i pressed Power to install it and it FAILED !!!!
- I was depresed again :|
- I keept reading and may owners had the same problem, someone suggested that the update worked for him after he left the phone in a bag in the fridge. I had no fridge in the hostel (and no SD card writer only the ROM on my SD card) so i tried it again AND IT WORKED !!!
After that i got a HTC screen that didn't boot. I flashed HSPL3 (also from the second try, flashing from HD2 tools(HSPL2) didn't work) and installed official WM from the HTC HD2 support and i think i will use it from now on (or WM7) .
After i did it once it didnt work(flashing from SD card) so i used this method:
- Entered the SPL/HSPL
- Flashed HSPL4 sometimes it does not work but you have to keep trying
- Task29
- Updated a stock WM6.5 from the PC !! (from the SD card didnt work(
- works
PS: If you see only the white screen when you turn it on you need to wait few days to get to the HTC seceen so a hardware error. Maybe try to put the battery and simcard out of the phone or put it in a plastic bag in a fridge ... maybe it will accelerate the process
So my theory:
- The overheading caused a hardware error that damaged the Radio ROM and the software(but how?).
- It's a producttion problem(may owners with the same problem)
- It mostly occurrs to android users - and mostly ICS
- As an engineer i have no idea why it works now but i like it
Ok i got a white screen with Windows Mobile 6.5 after few days (with android/W7 imidiently).
The problem occured when i was cooking almost 40 celsius.
Maybe the solution can be to put some cooling paste on the radio or similar thing

Hi, can u say which old WM version u used ? I dont have bricked hd2 but instead of this my lcd doesnt show anything in first stages of boot, i mean i cant see tricolor screen (but can get into this with buttons), cant see magldr or clk, cant see cwm or anything until android (hyperdroid) boots up. Then it works perfect. Of course even if I cant see anything it works fine in background, even more, i can go into cwm and by pressing buttons do everything but... cant see the menus (luckily got help on xda and i know menu structure). Anyway, I spoke to guy in mobile service point, who said that some time ago he had the same situation, his hd2 got exactly the same weird problem and he solved it my installing some old WM roms. Unfortunately it was long time ago and he didnt remembered versions. But he said it happened to him after playing with some 3rd party camera software and for him it was like lcd locked itself in specific resolution. I'm more than happy to try your solution if u can provide WM version u used, as i already tried few and... nothing. Thx
I used the newest version of WM 6.5 3.14 / 2.15.50.14 it worked for days(i have not used the phone but it was on without simcard). Afther few days i inserted the SIM card inside the phone and then after few minutes maybe half an hour the white screen appeard again
Now i will try the 1.66.405.2 version with 2.06.51.7 radio hope it works with the sim card or i will have a bad MP3 player
Problem still open
The phone works for days when i leave it in my room and don't use it (need to test it with a sim card).
But when i take it out in my pocket it just turns of and can't be turned on. I take the battery out and put it in and the famouse white screen appears and i can't flash it anymore (i can eneter the bootloader - voldown+power) but when i try to update the rom it hangs and restarts.
Had the same problem few times and the white screen disapears after a while(few days), the HTC logo appears and i can flash the phone again.
I have a feeling the phone is "more alive" when i use WM 6.5 old version (on android and WP7 the white screen appears after few minutes but i am not sure).
Next time(when the white screen goes away) i will try to flash WM6.5 and leave it with the simcard for a few days. If it does't go into white screen then it's a contact problem on the hardware (and it's triggered when i walk)
i tried to put it into the fridge but it did not work
i tried latest wm rom but it doesnt work, i can hear sound when its loaded but nothing on screen, pressing power off it just keeps black and then lights up display .... thats it. Weird but with android on board i works fine after boot sequence, just have to press power off 4times. Tried to load WM from SD card but for some reason I cant do it properly (heard thats only way to get rid of HSPL and have clean install), phone just hangs, maybe some error but my display is not showing anything at this point Starting installer from PC gives loads up WM rom succesfully, but as I mentioned before, screen just lights up, music is playing and ..... nothing. Maybe You can try this way ?
If not, you could try following :
using mtty do some task 2a and task29 then reinstall
or
try find someone who could plug JTAG into it and wipe everything
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XroEPU4qyuM
Mine is proably hardware, but why its fine on android and not with WM ?
It's definitely a hardware problem. When the whitescreen appears it can't be removed with flashing. i leave the phone for a few days off and than again the mobile phone boots without problems !
The phone works for days when i leave and don't touch it, but as soon as i put it in my pocket and wear it with me for about half an hour the screen gets white againt and the phone does't boot anymore(for days or more).
so definitely it's a circuit or component problem, I will try to fix it with hot air(to refresh the definitely or to break the pohone but i'ts my last solution)
Would a motherboard change help ?

Hi there,
My phone not turning on not without battery and SD not with home and volume+ and power button not with both volumes and power nothing at all not even vibrating when charging I am not sure if it's the battery but it was charged before I rebooted once rebooted it didn't turn back on I am on aurora ics and cwm.
I didn't have any problems with it partitions might of been wiped but I guess this would leave me with access to bootloader or anything or a vibrate on charge at least it happened as I was formatting another device but put the wrong sd on ubuntu so I started to think it might be the battery except it was charged unless it decided to leak all the charge in no time.
Also it doesn't do anything on usb or charge connection no vibrate no led no light buttons no nothing just nothing.
Sounds like my issue...
If in fact you did format the whole 3.69gb partition, then you wiped the phone.
So far, my only recourse has been to attempt a JTAG and install a bootloader.
I'm thinking that maybe I can try some form of "wire trick", like the ones used on the HTC Sensation, but I don't want to blow it up by shorting something unrepairable.
If you find another solution, please reply as it would be helpful to others.

nope i didnt format 3.96 gb it was 3 mb and it was shown as linux cd gadget also it worked afterwards until i rebooted next day then blackness the thing is i cant seem to find a battery to try with so i need to try everything first
The one I have here wouldn't start charging the battery until I force-fed the battery directly. (use a 4-5v charger and directly charge the battery for a couple of minutes).
Mine worked, but I made the mistake of formatting the entire partition (3.69gb), so now the phone does absolutely nothing.

I am a bit confused here so now when you plug it you can do something to it since it's charging? I guess I never did the 3.69 thingy if I am not mistaken..So lemme ask you if I tried the wall outlet for example instead of the USB to tv or laptop would that help to start it? I am thinking of replacing the battery and see what happens that's if I can find it here in Turkey the Turks always into the newest phones so this one is ancient to them to find a battery for...
Mine is in the same state. But I know that in my efforts to get it to start again I accidently wiped the the entire partition. Can't turn it on, can't get a pink screen, not a thing and haven't beenable to find any solution. So I guess all I can do is sit back and check the postings to see if anyone else has the same issue and knows of a way to restore the boot partition.

I'm thinking of trying to run MTTY 1.42 and talk directly with the qualcomm chip to send the boot files myself, but I need to know what I need and where it goes first.
I did this with the HTC Kaiser (AT&T Tilt) with some success.
That was on Windows XP though...not sure if it will run correctly on Win 7.

Hi! XDA communty, I have a problem with my Nokia Lumia 520:
My nokia Lumia 520 was having some software issues, I reinstalled the software with the Windows Phone Recovery Tool, and it worked well, but it started to get issues a couple months later, I realized the place where I work have unstable voltage, and I read on a forum that can make damage on the device, I reinstalled the software again 5 months later and it worked well for a couple months... Last week the problems became worse, the phone turned off because it was off of battery and it didn't started when I tried to turned on, it only vibrated and then nothing, after a lot of attempts by pressing the reset command and root restart command, it turned on, a couple days later my phone suddenly turned off and it was the same, after a lot of attempts trying to turn it on it worked, this monday the phone went out of battery and it didn't started anymore, the phone didn't vibrated when I tried to turn it on or pressing the command buttons, it vibrate only when I connect the device on a computer or a charger, I took my lumia to a technician and he said the memory was bricked and he haven't the device to unbrick it's memory... I saw a tutorial on onewindows(.)es about how to resurrect a lumia with its memory bricked and followed the steps carefully, I connected the phone and windows installed a driver, but the HQUSB_DLOAD never appeared on device manager, so I couldn't install the drivers to try to unbrick it's memory.
Someone else said the main board was damage or the processor was dead.
Please, XDA help me with this problem, I can't buy another phone because of the situation on my country.
PS: sorry for mistakes, I speak spanish.

So using Windows, open up device manager. Then plug in the phone, does anything new appear? Unplug the phone, does anything disappear? You may need to expand some of the [+]. Phone can show up under Ports, USB Interfaces, Human-Interface Devices or other places. If Windows can detect something when plugged, that's good. You may also just have a defective charging port.
Click to collapse
the device manager detects something but doesn't add anything to usb interfaces or the other ones
