Hello XDA.
Here I am listing the apps that cause fast battery drain.
I am just listing the common apps that we use in Gingerbread ROMS
You can freeze them or Delete them or may be replace with alternative apps if available.
If you think that I am giving you wrong information then please take backup of current ROM and just try this.
THIS list is not in ascending or descending order of Battery drainer. Apps here are randomly written
1. DSP manager
2. Email.apk
3. Facebook
4. Facebook messenger
5. Google Maps
6. Google+
7. Google DRIVE
8. News and Weather (Genie Widget)
9. Compass
10. Timescape(and its all extensions)
11. All live Wallpapers etc....
If there is any app that is most common and cause battery drain faster then please post about that.

1st Dsp ?
11. Live wallp ?
Are you ****ing kiddin me ?

Just give it a try. Dsp is a battery drainer app. Dont you believe me .
I know someone will ask this question.
Now do this
Just enable DSP manager. then try to play music for one hour then check battery % dropped .
Just disable DSP manager and reboot and again play music for one hour then check battery % dropped.
Or try to use CPU monitoring app
and see CPU frequency with running
1. DSP+MUSIC player
2. only music player
then tell me what is the difference

I dont say aint a batt drainer , It is like every app that use CPU and Ram , but is stupid to write that is drainning more batt than live wallp.
Send from my X8 runnin' MiniCM9 .
But the truth is that DSP drains battery may be less than Live wallpaper. But we can avoid it by using Apps like Poweramp and Playerpro etc which has built in equalizer
hey its not the sequencing order its just a list. Random list.
For me Dsp doesnt drain batt at all
Uses like 1% cpu and with both apollo is like 6mb usage.
Send from my X8 runnin' MiniCM9 .
Music lovers can compromise with Battery drain caused by DSP. And you are one of them who is ignoring the truth.
Even doxianh said that dsp doesnt affect battery......and you put it 1st on the list.
Sorry but you fail.
Send from my X8 runnin' MiniCM9 .
I believe in experiments and observations . DSP affects battery.
I have found that without dsp manager installed my battery drains about 3-5 mA when in standby
Whereas with dsp manager installed (and not even activated) this jumps to about 12-17 mA.

+100 for this
This happened to my miniCM7 with nAa kernel 13
The battery DRAINED SOOOO FAST, with DSP ON with only 2 songs each song 4 minutes+ , randomly drain up to 2%
except for those one using alfs kernel + the latest GingerDX, a SUPER better battery life than using nAa kernel ROM'S (No Offense just try it yourself) :good:
please note..

My problem is battery drain plus dsp does not work well with smartass in stock kernel..

Yeah, man thanks...I think my battery has full life by overclocking
But...I've got a question...
Also...If I start SetCPU...I change the Max CPU to 748 Mhz
So...on the right side at the top, there is an option which is called: Scaling.
What is the best scaling for Games?
Is there a CUstom Scaling for Games which I can install?

OneLess, don't use Undervolt module with Overclock module, because they can't work together (undervolt take voltage down... when you use overclock, the higher frequency you get, the higher voltage is... so that's the problem)
U can use modified Overclock module from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276580 With this module u can set the frequency even to 800Mhz... u have to try the best frequency
To Overcklock u can use SetCPU
To eliminate lags (but not in 100%) u can use The Best RAM Optimization (aka Juwe script - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14446249&postcount=1) and MDDI Lags fix (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053587)... DualTouch (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1135965) can help in some games, too)
To increase battery life u can use ax8_smartass module (module for overclocked X8's - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159899) and do this:
1)Download "Battery Calibration"
2)Before charging - reboot, xRevorery, wipe battery stats
3)Open "Battery Calibration"
4)Follow the inside instructions
On my X8: In SetCPU there's possiblity to create "profles" ... I have created profile which takes frequency to minimum (122Mhz) with each screen off and set "powersave scaling"... I thinks it helps my battery

You are wrong. They can be used together, but this does not make any sense, because overclock module is already undervolted, and overclock module don't change voltage on higher frequencies

3. I'm seeing only widgets of gdx installation. I installed various app (es advanced task manager) but widget wasn't on list. How can I solve?

Solutions:
1. To disable Camera sounds, go to settings, to Cyanogenmod settings, to sounds. To disable boot sound, open Root Explorer, go to system, to media, and you will see one music file there, delete it and you are done.
2. I think you should activate Screen off profile using SetCPU.
3. Don't move the apps you installed to SD card if you want to use widgets.

Still i can use it for a day or two.
But i charge frequently also!
Thanks to all and particularly to lucastan96. Hi,
I have an annoying issue on the latest Quarx's CM10 (18/03). I have this problem since November I think. When I'm playing music from my SD card on any music app (usually I use Play music or PowerAMP) it stop randomly after some music when screen is off.
I think it happen because of RAM management which kill running app on IDLE to increase battery life. But I tried tweak RAM setting and it didn't change nothing.
I think I'm not the one with this issue. I'll take every idea to try to fix this.
Thank you.
Keep your app in foreground.
And if your player has notification thingy, the atk can't kill that app. I think both apps you mentioned has a notification control, SDL it can't be memory management!
Sent from my MB526 using xda premium
Thank you for your reply.
I can keep the app in foreground but it take approximately 30-45mo of RAM so my phone will become very laggy.
I think you're right when you say it can't kill the app because of the notification. But I think android system kill an other background service which is necessary to the music be played correctly. I'll trying to investigate when I'll have more time.
I have an other app called Deezer (French Spotify service). This app never stop or less frequently. I think it's because it use it own decode system (music file are encrypted on the server or memory card). The app don't use external services to decode music so the app continue playing after hours.
Btw I find strange that I'm the only one to complain about this. I will make a clean install in some day.

Yes in know how to do it. But if I lock music player in memory, it will take about 40mo all the time. My Defy will become very laggy.

Hi Husi10,
I have the same issue as you about music playback.
My problem is the following :
When I'm using Deezer app with CM10 or CM10.1, music playback is frequently laggy (always in the very begenning of the tracks) and sometimes it stops playing in some unknown situations (as you described on this thread).
This issue doesn't occur on CM7.
Did you, as me, notice this playback lags in the begenning of the tracks ?
Did you find a fix or a workaround for this issue on CM10.x since March (date of your post) ?
Thanks
Hi,
Yeah, music playback on Deezer's app is laggy in the beginning of every track. I think there's no workaround because it's a bug with the app itself. It happens also with my tablet (Nexus 10). But playback never stop by itself.
After my post, I did a clean install (wipe data) and also format my SD card. It helped a lot, I never experimented this kind of bug again.

In my experience, music lags issue only occur in CM10.x. Did you already test Deezer on CM7 ?
[EDIT] So, do you think that Deezer is buggy like this only since Android 4.1 ?
On which ROM your Nexus 10 runs ?
My Nexus 10 runs on AOKP (4.2.2). I think it's an issue with Deezer itself, whatever the rom.

Hi,
I'm just (re)testing Deezer on my Defy running Quarx CM10.1 build (2013-06-26).
I've changed I/O scheduler to "cfq" (before my change, it was "sio") and it seems to work better, I don't notice lags at the beginning of each songs for the moment. :fingers-crossed:
Is it the same for you ? Could you test it in order to confirm my potential finding ?
Thanks

After one more day of tests with cfq i/o scheduler, I've noticed that lags at the beginning of a song still occur BUT only after launching Deezer and only with the first song. The next songs playback is smooth.
After a lot of research about that KitKat 4.4.2 bug i found the cause of the problem. The audio glitching bug is because of hotplugging of the cpu cores. A common bug, as someone told at Xperia Z forum section. To fix this, disable mp decision through Trickster MOD (Search for it at Play Store). This should fix it. But this also means your cpu no longer shuts off cores when not needed. But it shouldn't affect your battery usage much... At Trickster MOD the Mp Decision is located at "Specific" tab. You ONLY need root to make it work!!! Tested by me!
You can re-enable MusicFX and Sound Enhancement without problem now
P.S. If you restart your tablet you have to disable Mp Decision again cause it will return to the default value.
For me, it doesn't work

Do you have .FLAC music files in your tablet?? Cause the dropouts/music skipping is caused by KitKat native FLAC decoder... You can try to download the PlayerPro music player from Play Store. After install, go to Settings->Audio->Download DSP pack. Install the pack from Play Store, run the installed application and then follow the simple instructions at the second tab (swipe left). Hope it works!!!!
Thanks man! Now it works perfectly

There are so many custom Roms available meaning it difficult to choose what would fit someone's requirement.
Is there any comparison or benchmarking available?

This ROM has no bugs, it is just a raw zui ROM in Chinese language. So, you will use it for repairing the ROMin this forum which is useful only for English language addition.
Second, you need to open the app you need its notification after every reboot. Be sure it is running in the background by the the note arise when you press clear all symbol. It will say the app can't be cleared because it is locked. Be sure the app does exist in the safe center app as exception for auto starting and associate auto starting, also be sure to allow all notifications from the notification menu.
I have aqua mail ( which i used it as mail app because gmail app is crashing which is the only bug i could find in this rom) and what's up with absolutely no problems.
After trying every zuk z1 rom (literally) in this forum, i found out this is the best rom due to stability, brilliant camera app, and the insane battery life ( yesterday i got 5% drop for 1 h youtube video on wifi with gps and network are on and the display back light on 50%(.
No lag in this ROM, no random reboot, security is crazy ( i was shocked to see that there were some apps were blocked from reading my phone number). I guess i can live without original gmail app and substratum theme engine and dolby atom audio mode vs. gaining 7 h sot battery life, much better camera, and stable stock ROM from lenovo company has OTA update in comparison to other Roms like RR or Lineage .

2. there would be chinese app pre installed..can i flash super su to gain root access and remove system app?
3. i am looking for ROM who can give best network reception as i m facing lots of problem with other ROM for calling ..does this rom has good network reception
Hi, happy to help you.
1. No, will remain same version.
2. Yes you can, i flashed magisk 13.3 without any problem and used a bloatware app remover to remove the stupid Chinese Webbrowser. Other chinese apps can be uninstalled normally.
3. There is no rom gives you better connection than zui, i am getting now a full wifi signal in my bedroom instead of half signal i used to get in RR or AOSP roms.
Cheers

Use xposed with xnotifications module.
Sent from my Lenovo Zuk Z1 using XDA Labs
I think no rom has ability to improve signal. It's a hardware thing not software issue.
However I moved to AOSP extended from nuclear rom and boy I'm happy that my battery is almost giving me 8 hours SOT compared to 3.5 ~ 4 earlier

Nope. Look through the thread of ZUI twrp latest english, i ha dpoated a solution to this long back, after me many have as well.
Tl;dr pull down apps in recents to lock them, disable their battery optimization from settings of the apps u want to get notifs of
The notification issue is very easy to be solved, first, remove the app you want its notifications from battery optimization, and then open it, press home button>recent button>drag down its recent window slightly, you will see a symbol of a lock on the top of the window can be opened and closed by dragging down the recent window, lock the window and the app will never be cleared from recents and will stay awake in the background. I did this to whatsapp and yahoo mail apps and they are notifying me instantly.
Be sure to give the app all permissions, enable all notifications from notification menu, enable auto start and the most important to put it in the white list in the safe center app ( it is a preinstalled app as antivirus, ram manager and security wall together considered to be the main reason for delaying app notifications)

I've tried it but didn't work, sometimes it shows notification but mostly it does not...
I even uninstalled safe center but issue was not solved...
Otherwise rom is the best in everything....

It is working perfectly by me, again, full permissions including auto start, all app notification are enabled, battery save is off for this app, on the white list in the safe center, and finaly locked in the background that when you press clear all button a note will arise telling that the app can't be cleared. This what i did and i am able to see all what's up notifications delivered overnight when i wake up. Sorry bro, this works by me, have you flashed any stange app or xpose mode or....etc. that might affect notifications?
