GDX v21 new installation - XPERIA X8 General

Hi guy,
after a new installation of gdx v21 in my x8 without any problem, I need your help for minor but (imho ) important problems.
1. how can I disable camera and boot sounds?
2. after one day of intense use for obvious configuration, I think to have a good battery life. Could you suggest a good app to improve this feature? I installed advanced task manager but it didn' worked so well like with Froyopro v1.1
3. I'm seeing only widgets of gdx installation. I installed various app (es advanced task manager) but widget wasn't on list. How can I solve?
Thanks a lot for your patience.
Bye

Solutions:
1. To disable Camera sounds, go to settings, to Cyanogenmod settings, to sounds. To disable boot sound, open Root Explorer, go to system, to media, and you will see one music file there, delete it and you are done.
2. I think you should activate Screen off profile using SetCPU.
3. Don't move the apps you installed to SD card if you want to use widgets.

camera shooter disable in cyanogen settings
for better battery life use custom kernel like alfs

Batter life.
Disable Wi-fi,Bluetooth stuff like that.
Set a max and min frq for the CPU
Im like 650 and 122 and there is no problem.
Also App Killer.
Still i can use it for a day or two.
But i charge frequently also!

Thanks to all and particularly to lucastan96. I used all your suggestion and in a single day, I have surely a battery life better than Froyopro (now I'm sure): with more than one hour of calling and one hour of 3g browsing, I still have 55% of battery. And the phone is very very stable. Thanks again for your help.

Always glad to help, Mantaor!

@yaronAD looks like you have tried most of the possibilities
may be try this -> assuming you have kernel compatible for clocking, extract a set cpu_safe mode.zip from set cpu (click menu->safe mode instructions)
and then make sure for both voltage and profile settings you have set on boot then reboot then go to recovery and install zip(safe mode.zip) and then reboot again and check the response time now without touching setcpu after boot.
if this also fails then maybe it's internal , buy a usbjig to flash the counter back and hand it over under warranty
Have you tried flashing to a stock rom? I don't see that in your list.

Definitely not! , cos I don't overclock the phone to max freq , and I use setCPU to try a bigger value on the sleep freq ( 500mhz instead of 200mhz)

still waiting here for the Lightning idea that will end this nightmare

I have the exact same problem!
did you manage to fix it?
EDIT:
Sometimes the screen works, sometimes it is upside down or white. I also noticed when I try to adjust the brightness the screen goes black.
I have tried everything i can think of to fix this and nothing seems to work! it happens on the original firmware so i guess this is a hardware issue =(

[Q] Cyanogenmod lag

Yesterday, I installed Cyanogenmod on my Blade, but I don't like it very much, because in menus or in homescreens I get lag. I have CM 7.1 via ROM Manager installed.
On the internet, forums, I read that CM 7.1 is very smooth. On youtube is great, but on my phone is very laggy.I have no lag in applications, only in menus or homescreens.
There is a confiuration that makes CM work smooth ( without overclock )?
try launcher pro or any other launcher it might solve the problem
and please report hows the battery on cm7.1
i tried Launcher Pro.It reduces lag, but is still laggy. What can i say about battery is that is better than 2.3.5 OS.

hows it compared to stock 2.2
try reducing animations and not using a live wallpaper
CM 7.1 is the best ROM for games and applications so is muuuuch better than 2.2, but 2.2 looks more smoothly than CM (al least for me) .
About Live Wallpaper...i didn't use one.
Use the latest nightly build.
Then tap on settings > cyanogenmod settings >performance, make sure that 'use 16bit transparency' is selected.
You can overclock it too.
I'm afraid about overclocking, but i will try with "16 bit transparency" .Thank you!
It works great! Now, it feels realy smoothy. Thank you!

Overclocking is not something to be afraid of. Just overclock it in smaller steps, try one setting for a while and if everything is ok and you don't experience any random reboots or hangups, you can set it higher. Most blades are able to handle clock frequencies up to ~700. Mine is stable at 691, others at 710 where I start to get reboots when writing messages or browsing the net etc. When testing how much your blade can handle, just remember not to tick the "Set on boot". When you find a setting that is stable, then it's safe to set it at boot also.

Cyanogenmod 9 (Latest) Bugs List & Solutions

OK! After I switched from GingerDX to CM9, I had been thinking of creating this thread like I did with GingerDX!
FYI, this thread is showing the bugs that appeared in CM9 Latest.
I really want to say thank you to Master Paul-xxx for supporting us and developing this ROM!
- Interested to see Paul's work? Download it!!

................................................
BUGS LIST & SOLUTIONS...
...............................................
(X) means confirmed.
(?) means not confirmed.
................................................
:: (Latest) Bugs ::
- Major bugs: FM Radio, Camera, Microphone (Said its fixed but not). (X)
Solution: Change to nAa's MiniCM9 and wait for fixes.
- Video Decoder is partially fixed. (X)
Solution: It can be fixed by installing any video player with its own video decoder, such as Mobo or MX Video Player. It's still a bit laggy and low quality though.
- Wifi is not working. (X)
Solution: Use this A2DP_wifi fix by B.Jay to enable Wifi. Note that some internet connections may cause it to constantly disconnect and connect.
- In-call volume is quite low. (X)
Solution: During a call, click the hard volume button to the highest, and lower the volume one time. It would be much louder than maximum. After some time though, the fix goes off. You need to reboot and do it again.
- Gallery settings is not working. (X)
Solution: Easy, download QuickPic from Play Store. Its 10x better!!
- Some people have problem with momentary screen cuts. (X)
Solution: Try changing the CPU governor to SmartAssV2 and increase the frequency to 729mhz. It may reduce or solve the screen cuts.
- Trebuchet (Default) Launcher is very laggy and heavy. (X)
Solution: Use a custom-edited Trebuchet launcher, such as Apex or Nova Launcher.
- Speakers start to crackle when you set the volume near to the maximum volume. (X)
Solution: Don't set it too high, and reconfigure your settings in Equalizer to almost flat bass and treble.
- Wifi tab keeps sliding back when you try to on" it on Alfs V08. (X)
(GUYS, ITS BEST IF YOU USE THE RECOMMENDED KERNEL, WHICH IS nAa KERNEL!)
Solution:
1. Full wipe, wipe the cache and the dalvik cache.
2. Flash nAa 11, and reflash the ROM.
3. fix dchpcd file in the ROM and connect the wifi to see if it works, if it works then turn off phone.
4. Flash Alfs V08.
5. Don't flash update Vold + Chargemon.zip and don't wipe cache and dalvik cache!
- Selecting reboot to recovery and bootloader in power option doesn't work. (X)
Solution: Download GooManager, it has a reboot to recovery option and many more features too.
- Boot animation's resolution is not right. (X)
Solution: Download the resized boot animation in this thread and follow the instructions there.
OR
Change to any other boot animation of your choice, as long as it is in 320x480 size.
- Phone bootloops frequently.
Solution: Use another version of Gapps.

There's a bug I already mentioned in Paul's thread, and some people confirmed that they have the same (but we got no answer from anyone...):
when you hear music, and you press pause, and then you make a call (the time doesn't matter, even after 2 hours), when you hang up, the previous paused music starts playing by itself.
Thanks, adding it now...

Guys, don ´t know if you have this problem on your x8s, we have it on mini pros - reboot to recovery isn´t working for us. Solution /somewhat twisted but working/: install goo-inside app / http://goo-inside.me/devs/s0updev/gooinsideme /, it´s handy for other things too, but you can also successfully reboot to recovery from it.
sometimes the phone turn to silent mode and sometimes it vibrate without doing anything "always think i got msg or something but i find nothing"

The proximity sensor doesn't work for me. It's annoying especially when I'm making a call and my face accidentally press the mute button.
I also have a problem with the touchscreen when I'm texting. I immediately send the message when I press the first letter.
I'm using Alfs kernel btw.

You have proximity sensor in nAa11? I didn't try nAa11 that much since it feels laggy for me. I just flashed nAa11 at first, then flash Alfs kernel so I can use the wifi

Yes, the screen darkens when I am calling. So, maybe using Alfs, performance will be better, but using nAa, you will get less bugs...

Ok two things I'd like to report about the stated bugs about the song disrupting when locking/unlocking phone, the problem seems to occur seldomly on Alfs v8 and frequently on nAa 11 so i think it's a kernel bug. And for gallery, replace stock gallery with QuickPic app from Play Store 10 times better and has all the same functions as ICS gallery (even the UI looks similar with its latest update ) !...oh and btw, my name is RohinZaraki, not RobinZaraki xD actually laughed my ass off !

background/cached apps

hi guys!
i'm un paranoidandroid 2.0 and i really like it.. snappy and good battery life!
i was wondering if there is a way to lock some apps in memory, backgroud or cached, just to open them faster.. i'm using 3 apps most frequently so it would be awesome to get those apps locked in memory!
till now i've found 2 ways:
1) bulletproof script but i have 2 problems: i'm not sure it's working properly and i can't lock go launcher (the sript doesn't recognize the app name..)
2)lock list in go launcher: does it really work??
any other (maybe better?) ways??
thanks a lot!!
i think my defy is really close to what i'm looking for from a mobile (only issue i won't solve is the ****ty camera i guess..)
I would also like to find this out, preferably without using another app to solve the problem. If it can be done over adb or Terminal Emulator then that'd make my day because then the changes are done at the system level permanently rather than at every boot
Thanks in advance!
Alexis
yep.. it would be awesome!!!
any help??

Must Have Root Apps!

I wanted to start a thread for must have apps for the rooted Note 4. Please feel free to contribute some information and advice on great apps that root users would love. If you have any questions about these apps below, feel free to ask.
My Must Haves consist of:
/System/app mover - Used to convert user apps to system apps
AdAway - Remove those pesky ads from apps and the interwebs
ROM Tolobox - I have the Pro version. Great multi-function tool (Ron installer, App Manager, Root Browser, Apps2SD and more)
SD Maid - I have the Pro version. Has App controls, Corpsefinder, System Cleaner, App Cleaner, Duplicate finder and more
Titanium Backup - Great for backups and restores. I use this a lot when I flash new roms
System App Remover - remove that bloatware that you just don't want
Wanam XPosed - Do I need to explain how awesome this is? This is the best app for root users
XPosed - Framework that will enable you to customize your phone, whether it be minor tweaks or all out customization
Root explorer and viper4android are always the first two apps I install
Ahh yes viper is included in dynamic Rom. So didn't think about it.
Ttorrent... Very important... Lol... (it does not require root, but you need root in order to have it saving file directly to your SD Card...)
when installing Viper4android, which one do we download? The 4.x one?
And also, which CPU do we select from within the app?
Here's what my Ron comes with
I don't use ttorrent. I have an ftp server in my rack.
Mine are
root explorer or es, like both
my backup pro
Titanium backup
clean master
start up manager
Here is my set up
Rom toolbox (great app for editing)
Wake lock detectors
Faux clock
DVFS disabler
Unicorn icon themer (have custom icon pack on TW)
Titanium backup

Maybe that's why my HTC one had terrible battery. The rom came cooked with Viper.
I'm not a big music guy and I think its fine just the way it is. I'll leave it be for now
I've never experienced increased battery drain while using Viper. When setting it up, there are 3 options to choose from. The highest audio quality setting does mention that it may cause battery drain. I always choose the middle option.

I try it out for the bass. It was just alright. It make a little difference on my car stereo. I just crank up the bass in my car.
Viper need some coding if you want to do it for your ROM unless its bake in.
I am not going to miss it, so I will not use Viper.
