I wanted to start a thread for must have apps for the rooted Note 4. Please feel free to contribute some information and advice on great apps that root users would love. If you have any questions about these apps below, feel free to ask.
My Must Haves consist of:
/System/app mover - Used to convert user apps to system apps
AdAway - Remove those pesky ads from apps and the interwebs
ROM Tolobox - I have the Pro version. Great multi-function tool (Ron installer, App Manager, Root Browser, Apps2SD and more)
SD Maid - I have the Pro version. Has App controls, Corpsefinder, System Cleaner, App Cleaner, Duplicate finder and more
Titanium Backup - Great for backups and restores. I use this a lot when I flash new roms
System App Remover - remove that bloatware that you just don't want
Wanam XPosed - Do I need to explain how awesome this is? This is the best app for root users
XPosed - Framework that will enable you to customize your phone, whether it be minor tweaks or all out customization
Root explorer and viper4android are always the first two apps I install
Ahh yes viper is included in dynamic Rom. So didn't think about it.
Ttorrent... Very important... Lol... (it does not require root, but you need root in order to have it saving file directly to your SD Card...)
when installing Viper4android, which one do we download? The 4.x one?
And also, which CPU do we select from within the app?
Here's what my Ron comes with
I don't use ttorrent. I have an ftp server in my rack.
Mine are
root explorer or es, like both
my backup pro
Titanium backup
clean master
start up manager
Here is my set up
Rom toolbox (great app for editing)
Wake lock detectors
Faux clock
DVFS disabler
Unicorn icon themer (have custom icon pack on TW)
Titanium backup

Maybe that's why my HTC one had terrible battery. The rom came cooked with Viper.
I'm not a big music guy and I think its fine just the way it is. I'll leave it be for now
I've never experienced increased battery drain while using Viper. When setting it up, there are 3 options to choose from. The highest audio quality setting does mention that it may cause battery drain. I always choose the middle option.

I try it out for the bass. It was just alright. It make a little difference on my car stereo. I just crank up the bass in my car.
Viper need some coding if you want to do it for your ROM unless its bake in.
I am not going to miss it, so I will not use Viper.

Hi guy,
after a new installation of gdx v21 in my x8 without any problem, I need your help for minor but (imho ) important problems.
1. how can I disable camera and boot sounds?
2. after one day of intense use for obvious configuration, I think to have a good battery life. Could you suggest a good app to improve this feature? I installed advanced task manager but it didn' worked so well like with Froyopro v1.1
3. I'm seeing only widgets of gdx installation. I installed various app (es advanced task manager) but widget wasn't on list. How can I solve?
Thanks a lot for your patience.

Solutions:
1. To disable Camera sounds, go to settings, to Cyanogenmod settings, to sounds. To disable boot sound, open Root Explorer, go to system, to media, and you will see one music file there, delete it and you are done.
2. I think you should activate Screen off profile using SetCPU.
3. Don't move the apps you installed to SD card if you want to use widgets.
Hit the THANKS button if I helped!!

camera shooter disable in cyanogen settings
for better battery life use custom kernel like alfs
Batter life.
Disable Wi-fi,Bluetooth stuff like that.
Set a max and min frq for the CPU
Im like 650 and 122 and there is no problem.
Also App Killer.
Still i can use it for a day or two.
But i charge frequently also!
Thanks to all and particularly to lucastan96. I used all your suggestion and in a single day, I have surely a battery life better than Froyopro (now I'm sure): with more than one hour of calling and one hour of 3g browsing, I still have 55% of battery. And the phone is very very stable. Thanks again for your help.
Always glad to help, Mantaor!

Ok I'm an audiophile musician, as many of you I think
and, though stock audio just works I'm trying to look at audio mods here
I looked in many threads and I can see that ARISE is very well known, supported and loved, but looks like is very customizeable and confusing....
dolby atmos in apps section doesn't work well, it lowers volume and...well, I can't feel any improvement
viper4android should be nice, but I never tried it
now...what are you using? things that work nice and stable, with quality enhancements....don't need thousands of profiles or eq since I'm a big fan of flat sound (the way is meant to be listened)
Thank you for your attention, once we'll have some satisfactory answer I'll make a poll and a general AIO audiophile thread with all working options as referral.
EDIT: ARISE audio system simple guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/r-s-e-sound-systems-auditory-research-t3379709
go to this thread, don't be scared, just search for lastest deuteronomy zip and flash it
you will find a nice app called viper4arise that will let you manage settings separately for every audio output with simple and nice UI
you can also import presets and plugins, but it's secondary.
Im going to tune in on this. Would like to install ARISE on my nexus (comes with Viper4Android) but there are so many versions to choose from, it gets a bit confusing.
Any tips on which ARISE works for our phone on 7.1.1 ?
ARISE is the right answer. It's customizable for true audiophiles but simply flashing it seriously improves audio quality without you having to tweak anything. Seriously. I know there are several zips for ARISE. Just make sure you get the most current stable release (Deuteronomy 2.3.3) and I usually go for the smallest zip file because I don't need all of the extra stuff like Dolby Atmos and whatnot. It comes with a modified version of the Viper4Android app that allows you to tweak settings to your liking. The app, by default, is setup for novices or people that don't need to get too specific with any settings so you can boost bass, enable clarity options, spectrum extension, etc. by toggling the switch next to it. Simple as that.

so. you suggest to flash deuteronomy (lastest) and...just that? what about plugins, the prop editor that comes with hell of documentation...profiles and stuff...none of that?
if you're sure it works, is stable enough, simple and it has graphic (not text editing or changing files on system) settings through an app....I'm going to test it right now....

I never did any of that. I just flashed, booted up, went into the ARISE V4A app and toggled the options I wanted. There was an immediate difference in audio quality. You can toggle the options while playing music and hear the difference.
EDIT: Oh. Make sure to disable MusicFX or whatever that nonsense is. Settings > Apps > Show system apps > MusicFX and disable.

Really depends on what you're playing the music on. I usually enabled Spectrum Extension (0.4 strength) as a lot of my music is 320kbps MP3 and Bass Boost (default settings) for Bluetooth and Headset (3.5mm jack) while enabling "Speaker Optimization" for the speaker. I mainly use the bluetooth audio in my car and while my car stereo isn't that great but I did throw some Kickers in the front doors. Spectrum Extension is awesome, but make sure to disable it if you're listening to any FLAC files.

I really only listen to music through headphones/AUX in the car so I edited some of those to the audiophiles info in the post. I turned on the spectrum extension and will see how I like it since it's all streamed from spotify (no flac).

Why do you disable MusicFX?
And it's necessary on stock too?

Because it interferes with ARISE / V4A. If you're completely stock with no audio mods there's no point to disabling it.

I looked at a G6 on display and I love it. Only thing that troubles me is I can't find the global equalizer and sound settings like the Galaxy S7 has. Is there not a eq that works for everything? That's one thing i hated about my iphone when I had it was listening to pandora or spotify with no eq. flat and boring. I know there's 3rd party Eq's but they're not reliable. For example i put one on my Nexus 7 and now it doesn't work. It shows it's on but it does nothing. the sound sucks. When I had One M7 I had the same problem. the 3rd party EQ apps would only work half the time.
So does the G6 have a global EQ?

Does that require rooting my phone? I don't know how to root the phone and on Verizon the bootloaders are always locked last I heard. I'm not comfortable with rooting plus when Verizon does tech support they connect to the phone remotely and check the settings and I'm afraid they would see the root and void my warranty.
No root, just install musicfx.apk and the EQ settings will show in Google music settings.

I was confused because it says: "In order to install it as a system app, you'll need a root-capable file manager, like ES File Explorer, which is what I use."
It needs root coz you need to install it as a system file. No root yet achieved for g6.

I can't get it to work. I even tried to copy it in the system folder but it said something like I don't have write access. What do I do now for a global eq?

Just install the apk like any other app and thats it, the eq options will appear in spotify, google music, etc... mine is working fine and with eq settings+highfi dac is amazing

Hello again...
Just my two cents...
The musicfx.apk on the link before doesn't work well. You cannot make a custom equalization. But if you use the musicfx.apk from the OP5 thread It will work pretty well...

Hi, i want show the perfect setup for me for my old S6.
First of all, i want to begin with the rom. I am using the Resurrection Remix Oreo Ver 6.1.0. Rooted with Magisk v 16.
I have made a lot of changes in settings like to use the fingerprint immediately after a reboot or i have transfer the clock to the left and many more.
But the most important for me are the Magisk Modules. I am using Youtube Vanced, RR Low InCall Volume Fix, RAM management fixes bt crok, Pixel Experience, Google Face Unlock, Debloater (Terminal Emulator) and Android P DP3 Emojis.
Also, i am using Xposed Modules: Android P-ify, Flat Style Keyboard, ForceDarkModeOreo, I Said OFF!, MinMinGuard, NoOverlayWarning, P Animations and Screenshot Delay Remover - Mod.
I have removed the Messages stock and i have installed Google's Messages, also i have removed the stock Camera and i have download a miniuser123 GCam, removed the Files App and installed Google's Files Go, same with the music app i have installed Music Play. I have also flashed Product Sans font and installed Google's Pixel 2 XL live wallpapers. For icons i am using O8.
I have replaced the volume slider with the Android's P Volume Slider.
Please suggest me other "tweaks" that i can use to make my phone look like a beast.
Thanks for reading my thread.

Hey guys! I've never really used any Magisk modules before and in a lot of development threads I've seen people mentioning ones they use such as Doze and Camera2 API.
Which modules do you guys find useful in your everyday lives?
Moderators: If this belongs in Q&A feel free to move it.
Depends on what you want to use.
Doze for GSM is mostly if you experience a lot of drain from Google Play Services. I personally use Viper4Android 1.7.1 for audioFx, YoutubeVanced, Greenify4Magisk, and APT-X libraries.

As for now, i have viper 1.7.3, it's the latest stable magisk module. I have a simple profile:
Playback gain control: slight
Spectrum extension: 0.5
firequalizer: rock
Convolver: Impulse XHR Soundplus, cross channel: 0
dynamic system: high-end headphone v1, bass 20%
ViperBass: natural 60hz 8dB
ViperClarity: Ozone+ 6.0dB
Auditory: Slight
AnalogX: slight
I recommend you to experiment with different settings, and find the one that is best for you. :good:

Just backup any system apps you plan on removing so if something goes wrong you can just easily reinstall it through titanium backup or you'll probably have to end up reflashing stock ROM and it can be tedious depending on your device (and losing all data mind you)

FYI for some apps you probably don't need to care to make a backup. Apps like Gmail, YouTube, etc (essentially anything you can easily download from Play Store) I usually don't make any backup because I can just download again from Play Store
