Unable to get iCloud email - Galaxy S II General

Hello,
I'm an ex-iPhone 4S owner and now the proud owner of the S2 (I couldn't afford an S3 to be honest). It's a wonderful phone! I'm really happy with it, or at least I was until I tried to hook up to my iCloud email account. It just won't connect!
I tried the settings as per http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864 but no joy... It can't be a problem with the settings as I use these settings on my Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus.
Have any of you lot managed to connect to your iCloud email? If anyone has any sensible suggestions I'd be most grateful
Cheers,
David

Update: Okay, I thought I'd just leave the phone for a while after changing the password and after at least 5 minutes it connected to the account! Why the delay? It's now loading the Inbox and has been doing this for over 5 minutes!!

Actually, does anyone have any recommendations for email clients? I just need to be able managae multiple accounts, imap, the usual...

Aw sh*t... It's still "loading" the email box. Been over half an hour.
I'm mystified as to why it works on my Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus but not this? Maybe it's an ICS thing... I've still got Honeycomb on the Tab.
Help!! :crying:

I cannot reply to messages can but can send and receive fine.
Anyone else have this issue? Messages sit in out box but never sync. New ones go out fine.

I had setup my exchange account and received mails just fine. Had not attempted to SEND until I read your post.
Message went out just fine.
I assume you have selected:
Use secure connection (SSL)
Accept all SSL Certs
When setting up exchange, I initially had issue with the "Domain/Username" setting. Our corp instructions suggest to leave this field NULL. Android has it as a mandatory field. I just populated with "\[email protected]". Worked.
Good luck!
i already have it set up that way
I can send messages no problem, I cannot reply to them.
Otherwise it is working.
Does anyone else have this issue?
Exchange server is 2003 sp2. Boss too cheap to upgrade.

I have this same problem so I switched to Touchdown for Tablets by Nitrodesk. Everything is fine now.

Yes, same here
In the "domain/username" field, input it just as it asks. My xoom and every other android device I've set up for coworkers doesn't care about this field, it defaulted to "/username" and everything worked. My Galaxy tab 10.1 and a coworker's wouldn't reply to email so I set that field to "domain/username" and everything works now.
Anyone figured this out yet? Did the client with the Touchwiz upgrade fix this? I have a Verizon Galaxy Tab so I'm not sure how long it will be until I can even try Touchwiz, especially with the news that Samsung has halted the Touchwiz offering for the time being in general.
My Exchange setup is working perfectly fine on my Galaxy S and I am the IT admin for my server. Like the original poster everything works on the email client for the Galaxy Tab but I cannot reply to emails. I am using Exchange 2003 SP2 as well.

It's funny, I never tried a Reply from my Verizon GTAB 10.1 until I read this thread. Just tried it along with a new message. The new one sent, but the reply did not. I went into settings and checked "Accept all SSL certificates" and the reply sent immediately. But upon a second attempt to verify, alas, the next reply sits in the outbox... waiting.
Edit: Okay, that's weird, it finally sent after a few minutes. Strange that a new message sends immediately, but a reply only sends after a few minutes.

[Q] Changing Displayed Name under Email

Hi
Recently got a galaxy tab 10.1, and has 3.1 installed - no upgrade available yet apparently.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I've missed something glaringly obvious, but I'm reasonably literate with stuff like this. I'm trying to get my email setup, and have tried a number of apps. Until ICS comes out, Ive decided to use the stock email app, the samsung one..
Anyway, I can add multiple accounts, so I've got gmail, hotmail etc. The only problem is gmail (IMAP?) has a change displayed name feature, whereas hotmail (on activesync?) doesn't... So if my email was [email protected], my gmail has a setting to change that to whatever I want, in this instance Mr Bob Smith. However, the hotmail doesn't, and when I send an email, it's from bigbillybob, essentially just the first part of the email address.
I can't believe that this is a bug / intentional, but the setting isn't there under the hotmail account. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this. No luck searching - Otherwise it's a great little device.
This is not the Galaxy Tab 10.1 forums. This is for the original Galaxy Tab.
Please post your question in the correct forum (i.e. the 10.1's dedicated forum) to have your question better answered.

I found a workaround to change the "Your Name" setting in the stock Email app. I posted the details at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31342076.

Weird ActiveSync/Exchange issue.. Any Tips?

We use a galaxy tab 2 here at work with active-sync and exchange etc..
Seems like once every 2 weeks I'll use the native email app from 4.0.4 and the exchange account has been completely removed?
We also had this happen once with our Galaxy 1 tab as well. The exchange email account was completely removed. Like it had never been setup.
Any tips or ideas of why or what happened? I need to explain this to someone but can't think of where to begin why the issue happened and how to resolve it.
The other interesting fact is that we have so many different android devices on the same network without active-sync/exchange issues. These devices rage from 2.3.6 to the latest.... they don't seem to have their exchange accounts removed ever...
Thanks for any tips. I've been scratching my head at this a long time and can't seem to make any progress.

Workarounds (OSX 10.8+ and Android)

Hello again,
I've been asking a lot of questions lately regarding my new Note 3, but up until recently have started to notice things that I am not able to do, in regards to syncing and integrating 4.3 with my OSX environment.
So what I like to try and start, is a thread that people can come to (me) and ask questions about how Android can work with the OSX apps similar to how the iPhone and OSX worked. :cyclops:
My first question is; Am I able to get S Planner to sync directly with iCal and have them push information between the two whenever one may get updated away from the home?
Thanks for any advice - and I'm sure there will be many more to come!
Or not.. ?

A quick warning up front: I've not got my Note 3 yet, so I'm not 100% sure this works with S Planner, but this should work assuming it uses the standard Android sync system and some some weird Samsung-only thing.
That said, on my Nexus 7 I'm using Marten Gajda's CalDAV-Sync to sync with iCloud (I assume that's what your Mac's syncing with) and it works fine if you set server caldav.icloud.com, use SSL and use your Apple ID username and password.
He also does CardDAV-Sync which can sync contacts from iCloud (use server contacts.icloud.com instead).
Not connected with the author, just someone who's been using the apps for several months now without problems. I'd link to the Play Store pages but I don't think I'm allowed to link in my first post
Thanks for that info! I did contact the developer regarding his app but was a bit concerned about the app permission and my login details. I've ended up just basically copying my info over to Google and deleted the info off of iCloud. Next is trying to figure out syncing notes to google keep ?

Hello again,
SInce my last post I have switched to a Nexus 5 and have been loving it ever since.
I had to RMA my current Nexus due to dead pixels and have only just come across how difficult it is to do a 'complete' backup of the device. (Similar to an iPhone) and have yet been able to figure it out.
My Nexus isn't rooted and therefore it seems it might be harder to do.
Do any ex-iPhone users have any suggestions on how they do a complete back up of their Android device?

[Q] Note 3 Email Exchange Issue

My dad just got a note 3 from an iphone 5. This was a huge step for him and he loves the phone. The only problem is his Exchange email folders are not syncing. This is a deal breaker for him and he will go back to iphone if I cant resolve this issue.
Sending and receiving emails works great. The sub folders are the only problem. His folder structure looks something like thins
Inbox
-HR
-Personnel
--person1
--person2
-To Do
Inbox and HR are the only two folders showing up. I have removed and re-added the account too many times to count. I set the sync to 1 month and manually put emails from today in the missing folders. I have tried 3 days sync as well, no luck. I have gone though ever single setting and cant figure this issue out.
Today I downloaded touchdown and folders synced perfectly. Is there something I am missing? Are others having this issue? I haven't found any solutions on Google or Searching this forum.
One last thing, I am one of the admins for the company. No other Android or Samsung users have this issue. We have exchange 2007 and 2010.
Thanks,
MC

It's a known issue. Some stock email apps don't sync all folders. You can use either Touchdown on your Note 3 or buy a Sony Xperia Z1, where the stock email is able to sync all folders. :cyclops:
Unless Samsung updates the Email App, there is no way to fix your problem.
thanks. are there any better alternatives to touchdown. The UI is horrendous. Not a fan of K9 either. But at least they work
K9 seems to have been updated since I last looked at it. Ill give that a shot too. Are all users having this issue. This particular user has an ridiculous amount of email. but I don't think that is the issue here.

REALLY? How?
Do tell me, because I have a friend with a Z1 and is cursing exactly because he cannot exactly that.
And he has a tree of around... 50 tree nodes in his mail, that he needs to MANUALY set to "push" one by one! (exactly like my Galaxy Note 1)
Do you know a better way?
Try k9..not the app store version.. download from the development site
http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/downloads/list
Try 4.800 the 4.801 file is corrupt I think.
Been using this .

I have the same issue
Hi, I got Galaxy bought 3 4G model & we are using Exchange Email Cloud (Office 365). See guys, I was using Galaxy Note 2 with the same email address & account (Nothing changed on the Exchange Configuration) & the stock email with Note 2 working perfectly (Android Version 4.1.2).
As I can see the Note 3 has Android 4.3 & Stock email has an updated version (Lighter GUI). I'm trying to analyse the problem but it seems the problem is from the stock email where Samsung should have an update that can fix this big issue.
BTW, I tried also to configure another account on the same device (Note 3) & the problem still appear.
I have a suggestion guys, what about sending an email to Samsung directly describing the issue. It might help? Am I Right?
Awaiting your feedback.
Stock email app
Same issue here. Very annoying. Been using touchdown for awhile and I love it. Does anyone know whether you can create subfolders of inbox (running exchange) in touchdown?
