Completely Power OFF ThinkPad Tablet using only software (ICS) - Thinkpad Tablet General

Is there a software-only method of powering off the ThinkPad Tablet? My power button works, but it's tricky to get it to power-off instead of merely blanking the screen. I'd like an app or a widget that I can tap (and confirm) to completely turn off the tablet.
On a related note, I'd like the tablet to power-off completely after a certain number of minutes / hours of inactivity. Is there a way to do this?

Galaxy Tab 10.1 Won't Power Up

I took my Tab on vacation (in the Samsung bookcase). I went to power it up and it's completely dead. I have called Samsung and after troubleshooting they have sent me a UPS label for an RMA.
We tried leaving out on the charger for 3 hours but no joy. I then called them back and we then tried a hard reset by holding the power and volume up button but no joy with that either. We even tried the power button and volume down button but that didn't work either. For some reason my Tab that had worked perfectly up until now has died completely.
Before I send this back tomorrow does anyone have went last minute ideas? I'm at a complete loss at the moment.

Thanks I just took a look at the thread. Nothing there useful that I can use to get my Tab working but it does seem that I'm not the only one with the problem.

Possibly turn on the screen by touch?

I'm wondering if there is some kind of mod or app or something that allows you to turn on the screen by touch. With the case I'm using the power button is quite hard to trigger.

This is available for the Galaxy Nexus. I use it and find it quite useful. As far as I know, there isn't a solution for the Nexus 7, yet.

I love touch wake on my SGS, when I get a good N7 I think that is the mod I will want most.

You could fasten a small magnet to your person and use it as your "smart cover".
I haz no sig
Awesome on/off ultimate works on the N7, you just tilt slightly to wake, since the GNex solution requires a module to be added to the kernel.
(both will use battery, the app I mentioned states 5% per day)
Ok thanks" I'll look around
Thanks for this. I can get the "on" option to work, but not the "off". Does it work for you?

Nexus 7 Power?

OK so I have a wierd problem with my nexus. When I turn it off it won't turn back on doesn't matter if there's a USB or not. After a few hours sometimes it works sometimes it still doesn't. This is a huge problem and it stops me from getting into the boot loader. Should I just go to the store and get a new one or is there a fix?

I kinda have the same problem too, sometimes it takes a while to power on. All i do is hold the power button until the google logo shows up. Try that.

[Q] Nexus 4 Power Button Sinking into Housing?

Hello guys,
After awhile of using the phone, I feel the power button sinking more and more into the housing. There is a lot less distance to click from now. From time to time (not often) pressing the power button does not wake the phone but that's rare. Anybody having the same issues? Should I RMA?
The N4's hardware buttons are pretty "thin", if that makes sense. If you're worried, you could try something like Screen Off & Lock (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en) to reduce the number of times you press the power button. I currently have a gesture set up in Apex Launcher to launch Screen Off & Lock, and it works nicely. I imagine you could do similar things with Tasker or GMD GestureControl.
I installed CM 10.1. It has option to wake the screen with the Volume Rocker.

Yeah I've noticed it on mine too.
It was very harder and more out when I got it. It'll probably stop sinking when it reaches a certain point.

Not used it for a while but I'm pretty sure widget locker lets wake the phone with the volume keys.
As someone else said it will stop dining after a certain point. I noticed the same thing on the gnex too

[Q] How to force shutdown/reboot?

So I've gone and done something incredibly dumb. I am running AOSPA 4.3 Paranoid Android 3.99, and I love the Halo capabilities. But I didn't realize that there is a limit to Halo, which I discovered when I opened an SMS through Halo and then tried to open the camera through the SMS app all while running a game.
My device is frozen, and I don't know what to do. Is this considered a soft brick?
The command window prompts aren't working because the device isn't being registered by the computer, even though when I go into Devices and Printers, an LG device is there.
How can I force shutdown this thing? OR even get it to recovery? Are either of these possible, or do I need to wait it out until the battery goes kaputz?
Thanks!
Hold down power button till it powers down. Does this not work in your situation.

Click to collapse
Thanks for the suggestion! Wow, I guess I wasn't holding down the power key long enough? Now I really seem like a noob, which I am. It took some 10 seconds before the screen completely turned off. (Before, the screen had dimmed down but was not off).
Thank you so much!
No problem. Glad it was something simple. Not bricked.
