I have modified my DPI and got Nova launcher installed - but seem unable to get my lockscreen to view in landscape mode, is this possible?
Thanks A
haven't found a way yet, possibly hardcoded.

Wut..
1. Download widget locker.
2. Force landscape.
3. Profit.

If you're interested in having the Nexus 7 homescreen actually rotate, you can download Ultimate Rotation Control.
Once installed, you can choose the option "Forced Auto" and the home screen will rotate.
The only problem with widget locker is that there is no Nav button hiding. And the wallpaper doesn't automatically adjust correctly between portrait and landscape.

Decompile framework-res.apk using apktool, navigate to res/vales/bools.xml and change the false to true on config_EnableLockscreenRotation
That should give you lock screen rotation without an app...
I can make this mod for you, but you will have to upload your framework-res.apk and let give me to,e to do it (probably tomorrow)..

I use the Set Orientation app, in Landscape mode the lock screen stays in landscape.

Hey I tried decompiling, changed the false to true but then failed to recompile, was my first time using apktool so i probably did something wrong but if you could handle it for me i would apreciate it, here's the framework-res.apk

I have never gotten apktool to recompile... idk why. I have the same issue u do. Did u ever get it working? I'd rather not have to run an orientation app
I also use the Set Orientation app, but in Automatic (full) mode.
Works great and it is free.:good:

I did what you said and even recompiled it, but how do i get my new framwork-res into the correct folder? as soon as i do anything to those system folders my nexus 7 just reboots (like try to copy over the old framwork-res). is there a way i can overwrite the old framework-res without having the tablet go crazy and reboot?

Well, we don't have MIUI for our phone, but at least we can now get the lockscreen
From MIUI themselves: http://app.miui.com/index_en.html
EDIT: I am not sure whether if this fits our screen our not. Try it at your own risk (of course, if you do get stuck at the lockscreen, let's pray that you have the back button set to kill the current application unless, of course, you have another workaround).
EDIT2: It looks like the lockscreens do not fit our screen. Not that you shouldn't give it a shot though
Good start, but if you get stuck, reboot, then force stop the app.

i believe that you can enter a safe mode that disables third party apps (as long as you remain in that mode). in safe mode, you can uninstall this app, and once you reboot, everything should be back to normal.
to enter safe mode, hold the menu button during the bootanimation.

Thanks! After I got back in I saw in the settings a tip that you can unlock by pressing back & volume up.
I got it to work fine on my droid x, what I want to know is how to edit downloaded themes or create my own
Thanks Dude
Yeah, MIUI Lockscreen is only for HDPI devices,

check on my thread

I'd like to know if this is possible too.
Set Orientation https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.eyesfree.setorientation
Pull down the notification bar and press the screen with spinning arrows icon, it will change to a padlock once it's pressed.
I have my DPI set to 160 which puts it in tablet mode, and still the lockscreen is only in portrait. I don't want an app that locks the orientation because I'm still about 50/50 on using portrait and landscape.

The Set Orientation app lets you set it to auto, the lockscreen will rotate with the tablet.
This does work. However I use widgetsoid in the notifications drawer, and with screen krien. enabled, I can't adjust brightness. Just and fyi, but figured someone else must use this combo as well. The screen orien. also makes some apps tough to use in landscape, such as songza.

if you have root, add this to your build.prop file in /system/build.prop/ and reboot.. launcher.force_enable_rotation=true

You could also flash a ROM like Paranoid Android which gives you control over what interface each app uses like phone, phablet, and tablet. This is probably not the solution you were looking for, but you did say any way to make the lock screen rotatable.

Thanks for the info, but after some days I have uninstalled the app as it has been the reason for short screen-freezes every x seconds which was kind of annoying.
CM10 supports lock screen rotation.

Ultimate Rotation Control.
I use Ultimate Rotation Control. It rotates everything, including the lockscreen, & has different settings.
Hi, just got a nexus 7 today and disappointed that the default launcher doesn't support landscape ( unless I'm being stupid!! ) so I've had to use apex but it don't seem as smooth as the default launcher .... so is there a ROM close to stock that supports landscape on the home screens? This isn't normally a top priority but this tab Is to go in my car so portrait just don't work, Also having the notification bar at the bottom is a preference but not a top priority, And would be nice to have toggles in the noti bar like in OAKP,
Thanks in advance and for any help
Steve

there a simple build.prop edit to make the homescreen auto rotate, all you do is add this line to your build.prop and reboot.. launcher.force_enable_rotation=true
Nova launcher rotate to landscape and it's smooth and fast. No root or modified is required.
Use this with stock launcher
"Set Orientation" - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.eyesfree.setorientation

Where in the build.prop should I add this? At the bottom of Additional_Build_Properties list or somewhere specific?

Anyone got an idea of how to do this on nexus4? Im new to Android system.
I only want to change the black backgound image when it gets into the app/widget.
Thanks
You can't.
Yes you can but it's not an easy task.
You need to decompile the launchers apk.
It's been a while since I have done any theming.
It will be either
1. A png to edit in res/drawable folders (not likely)
2. An AARRGGBB string to edit in an xml somewhere in the res folder. (small chance)
3. An inverse hex code (can't remember the proper name) -0x001000 in one of the smali files. (Most likely)
Either way it's not something you want to attempt if your new to android

If you have a 3rd party launcher like nova, you can change the transparency to show your wallpaper when you open the app drawer. That would be am easy way and no root needed

I using trebucket maybe because it's default in my ROM. I try to download any launcher.
Odp: [Q] Menu background
Changing background in settings:
1.Go to system/framework
2.Open framework-res.apk in Winrar
