Titanium Backup from the market will restore apps + data. But there may be problems when changing from 2.3.15 or .320 to .340 when restoring data.

As suggested Titanium is a excellent tool for back ups so isn't Google restore for Market programs.
When or if you restore with Titanium and can restore "old" data & settings which will cause issues. I use it as a safety net also to restore my game scores , levels and favorites . Google does the rest in 5-10 minutes depending on amount of programs you have.
Thanks I will try both titanium and google hopefully no lose, and backup my whole system before I do it.

Great tool, a must have, worth the few bucks as a backup of a backup ,
One time my SD crapped out my online backup through Backup Pro saved my butt.
Titanium pro has dropbox sync which is really nice for your backups just in case you end up needing to reformat your sd card.

After I flashed CM7 (after a full wipe) Titanium won't restore any apps or data. I made sure unknown sources was checked and made sure I had root and superuser running. I went to the online troubleshooting guide and followed the instructions to change the settings within the app also. Updated busybox and used fix permissions in Rom Manager and no luck. It worked fine on the nightly builds and worked great on Mikshift 1.0 and 1.1. I need to be able to restore my Battle.net authenticator on my phone for Warcraft but I need to be able to restore the data also or it won't work. Any ideas or insight on how to fix this issue or do a manual restore of the app and data would be great. I have the stock Rom and Mikshifts Roms backed up but I'd like to run CM7. Titanium works fine on the other roms and restores the apps and data like normal.

Are you running the Pro version of Ti Backup? If so, I read that it still has issues with CM7. Specifically, the batch one-click restore of apps+data isn't working. I read there is a setting somewhere to change it to a manual one-by-one app restore as a temporary workaround.
Titanium Backup>Menu>Prefrences>(Under Troubleshooting)App Processing Mode>Interactive Mode.
Try that and it should work...
I wondered if that was the problem, still not sure but nothings worked so far.

Only restores the app, I need the data so the app is sync'ed to Battle.nets servers like the original install or I can't log onto WOW with this rom running on my phone. A fresh install prompts you to sync all over again and the authenticator is useless if you haven't removed the old authenticator. I could removed the authenticator and reinstall it on the CM rom and then make another backup so I could use it across all the roms I already have saved (I like to jump around) but that's a lot of work.

If you made the backup with each app's data (it should, be default), it should be restored with data by default. I don't know why yours isn't doing that :/

The only only thing it'll do is restore in interactive mode which uses the stock android installer....so it only uses the apk file and doesn't pull any data with it. I've never has issues with titanium before on any device that couldn't easily be fixed. Still stumped lol. It does show a different version of busybox installed than all my other working versions show, and after using the busybox app from the market it still shows the old version. I've tried fresh installs of titanium and the CM7 rom and no luck. Guess I'll hold off and try to contact the developer or wait for updates. Shouldn't be long.

this is only an issue for the battle.net that puts a new serial with a new install. the Classic installer DOES restore data.
Once you have your battle.net restored the first time and it doesnt work, go back to Ti Backup, click restore and then choose Data only.
Should solve your problem. Please don't misinform others that Ti Backup doesn't work. It does, I promise, I use it often. It might appear that is only installing app, but it installs all data too (My angry birds better follow me!)
We had this issue and ran through a bunch of ways, and foudn that the method described above does work.

I asked for help and explained my problem, I stated it didn't work for me. My post wasn't labeled "Titanium Backup Broken for CM7!!!!" I tried your method and IT WILL NOT RESTORE DATA ON MY DEVICE on my CM7 rom period. Will you please try it one more time? Cosine83 had the exact same problem and it was fixed following the advice Riggs already gave you.
Go into Titanium preferences and change Apps Processing Mode to Interactive. Then restore battle.net via Titanium. After you've restored it again select it in Titanium and hit Restore. When it asks you if you want app+data or data only choose data only.

Sometimes TB just won't restore anything in CM7 if the backup was made in Sense. But backups made in CM7 work fine in Sense. Kind of weird. Had to manually restore data without TB, jesusice.

I've tried it lol I will try again. Quick question though, what version of busybox is showing in TB for you guys in your CM7 installs? Mine starts out with 1.16.2 and when I download busybox it rolls back to 1.16.0. It will not accept the new 1.18.? versions of busybox. I wondered if that was causing it.

Are you sure you're using Interactive (Classic Android installer) for all of this. Before you mentioned that there was a circle that was spinning and not stopping.
If you haven't restarted since that, you have to go and kill the Ti Backup process before trying any of this. We'll get your problem solved don't worry.
I got it. I swear the only thing I did was swap an old 2gig sd card into the phone and made a new backup from my Mikshift rom then a fresh install of CM7. I installed an old version (couple weeks old) of Titanium from a backup I made with Astro. And it worked right off the bat. Still had to go over every app and install it and then the data but I can live with that. Sorry if I got fussy earlier, I'm just not used to getting stumped like that lol. Thanks guys for all the help but I think its just my janky phone being a PITA. Its been kinda buggy since I got it.

You don't even need to do that second step.
While set to "Interactive mode", pick restore app + data. Once the plain-jane Android installer is done, CLICK DONE. Next, Titanium Backup will automatically restore that app's data, just like you told it to.
Unless this issue is specific to the "battle.net" app, this process has worked for me every time, with every app I've tried.

I suppose Ti is best, but I haven't seen a ics friendly one available on the open seas
Nandroid? I only have 1 one my phone and thats 2.3.3 stock.
They take long to make, then they just sit there wasting space. Its not like you can just go back to them lime nothing, because by that time they'll be outdated.

Titanium is definitely ics friendly. If you have pro (or on free.. idk), set up filters with your must have apps. When you clear data ans flash a new rom, it will verify your TB account and restore settings, including filters. Just toggle the filter and do a batch restore. I was in the same boat you were til I started doing this.
And yes, TB also has a feature to restore apps or data, extracting from a nandroid backup.
•°NS4G • ICS°•
Or you could use es file explorer. Just go to the app manager button on the central screen, by pressing it it shows up all ur apps. Choose which ones you want and back them up. After flashing just restore using file explorer in the same manner...
The apps can also be found on the sdcard under backups/apps.
Astrofile manager does exactly the same job.. your pick.

Thats if the custom rom that has a file explorer preloaded. If not has to download also from market
Another annoying thing Google doesn't add to OS besides a restart option is a built in file explorer

Wrong. Even the free one lets you create a flashable zip.
Moreover, you could make it build as a regular update.zip or even make it install as a system app or an user app.

Noob question...flashed phone for first time yesterday and performed a backup using titanium free. When I flash a new rom don't you usually have to wipe data first? Would this not wipe the backup from your phone?
Thanks in advance!
It stores a copy in a folder called TitaniumBackup. If you wipe the SD card (or storage for us) that is different.
It is a hassle having to reinstall an app like Chase that requires a confirmation text. TB (Pro for me) makes restoring login info, etc a snap. Worth the $.

Noob replying to a noob (so pardon me, if i stumble):
When flashing a new ROM, you wipe - system, dalvik cache, data and boot ( perhaps not reqd.) Wiping SD card not required when installing new ROMs, unless it's the first time, and you're putting CWR on a Nexus S... However, some developers do recommending a full SD Card wipe as well. I assume you copy the Titanium backup folders to your PC, and copy it back before restoring.. Haven't tried that yet..
---------- Post added at 11:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:49 PM ----------
Probably will have to buy Pro, since it's getting to be a pain to restore my apps, with the permissions for each one...
Somehow, TiBackup doesn't seem to restore my homescreen settings, though I remember reading somewhere that it should do that as well..
Also, learnt the hardway not to try restoring Call logs and Messages when moving from a GB ROM to an ICS ROM... Boot loops with 2 ICS roms (Nexusbeam and Brainmaster's )
So, what all can you restore using TiB with your eyes closed?
I am still new to this phone, but with the Evo we had a zip file that wiped the system, data, cache, etc instead of remembering which ones to wipe. Maybe there is something like that for the Nexus?
I only restore apps, so I am not much help outside of that. With TB Pro all you have to do is click batch and restore all the apps with data automatically while you sit there and wait. I generally restore user apps only, maybe someone else can chime in with advice on restoring settings?
There is also an option to save backups on your drop box account, but I don't.
I am a flashaholic, one of the reasons I bought a used NS4G was because I was bored with the Evo. Titanium Backup (Pro) makes it fast and easy to restore apps and data when flashing new ROMs.

Yes but I suggest to just restore apps not app/data. Since it came from a different device N10 may not like the data stored in those apps and you'll more then likely run into problems.

Restoring game data or downloaded app settings data is fine with Titanium Backup from one device to another.
You do not want to restore any system app data/settings. I've done it for years moving from old phone to new phone or old tablet to new tablet.

How can I do this? I moved the two backup files onto my new device but I'm not sure how to get them to restore in TBU so I can restore them. I tried importing them but that fails. I can now see the app in my list of downloads (with a line through it) but when I try to restore it doesn't work. It appears as if it works but the app is not on my device.
Do I need to first install the app from Play and then restore over that? I'm missing a step here.

I've not tried doing any of this yet, but one problem would be the device I. D. has changed between the new device & old one. I would think that the app (especially a paid one) would first have to be installed via Play Store to the new device. Then maybe "data only" restored? When I change roms, my device ID always changes also, and before any paid apps can be re-installed I have to allow TiBu to restore the old ID first.

[Q] Moving from "old" nexus 4 to "new" nexus 4 via Nandroid backup?
I just got my warranty replacement nexus 4 (Google support is amazing!), and want to transfer stuff from my "old" nexus 4 to my "new" nexus 4. Is it possible to do it via NANDROID backup? Is there any information that depends on the actual hardware information (maybe things like google login is in some way connected to the serial number of the phone)?
Thanks for advices.
You can do it that way but I would prefer starting fresh with only restoring app data..
Back up your current apps with carbon (recommend just doing app data), and copy the carbon folder and everything else on the sd card you need to your computer. Sign into your new phone and let the apps download. Copy the carbon folder and everything else you need onto your new device. Restore all the apps data.

DONT restore whole nandroid !!!
seriously you could do some damage AFAIK (at least that was the case on my HTC desire or G1 as i recall some similiar thread on xda)
feel free to restore Carbon / Titanium / Mybackup applications and their data but not the WHOLE nandroid !!!
of course i could be wrong and restoring nandroid could be 100% safe.
but as i said i do recall some guy messing things up by exactly doin that, just cant remember which phone was that.
As others have said, using Titanium or a similar backup app is probably the safest option. One thing you could try is doing a full backup but then doing an 'advanced restore' in recovery and only restoring the /data partition. I'm not entirely sure whether this will work but it was fine on my old HD2. Still, I personally see Titanium as being the best solution.
Thanks everybody for the advice, yea I have Titanium licence and I feel I bought carbon as well (I like supporting good developers), so I'll try it that way.
@dzumagos: thanks for warning, I was going to test it if it works, but after reading your post - I think I'll just stick with Titanium or Carbon.
I used a nandroid to my replacement and it worked like a charmed. Titanium backup sucks and always puts my phone not a boot loop.
on an older phone, htc evo 4g I had 2 phones, the nandroid would not restore on the second phone, the device id or something was different.

This is an opinion, so don't state it as a fact. I reckon I've used Titanium well over 30 times to backup/restore (I was constantly changing ROMs on my HD2) and it has never failed me. As long as you don't mess with system settings and are sensible with what you restore you should never have a bootloop when using Titanium.
