Farewell to Nexus One - Nexus One General

This is my original post about how my N1 died:
My Nexus One died, help me for possible resurrection
Turns out, there is an electrical component inside my N1 which is broken and it took way too much additional cost to get that replaced.
So, I created this thread as my farewell and last post. It has been a wonderful day since I bought my N1 until the day it died, thanks to this forum as I learnt so much about Android. :crying:
My next phone will be his youngest brother, Galaxy Nexus.
Can't wait until the end of the month so I can get some money from my salary to buy Galaxy Nexus.

Have fun with your new Nexus!
My Nexus One still rocks after > 2 years of usage.
Though the power and volume buttons are not so sensitive now.

I've received the famous seven vibrations in mine and already have my GN on hands.

LOVE!!!!!!

So...I've had my Nexus S 4G for 2 weeks now, and I have to say, the first few days I was having trouble justifying the off contract price of the phone, especially when my Epic was perfectly fine.....
Fast forward to the first week, I was really liking how well it fit in my pocket, not to mention the battery life stock, and the GPS lock in seconds...awesome.
I also decided to root and try CM7, and I've been running it for a week so far, and I'll say it's changed my mind, and I'm definitely keeping this phone now!
And the ONLY thing I missed from my epic was the camera button, and today fooling around with my Nexus, I found that in CM7 you can assign the volume buttons to take pictures, EFFIN AWESOME!
So, I'm in love!
That is all,
Chris

So did the Sprint employees look at you funny when you bought it off contract for full retail?
I've always wondered what they think when enthusiasts come in and lay down half a grand on a phone... It's an expensive hobby.
I also came from the Epic... it's hard to tell they have the same hardware inside.
I don't see myself ever buying a non nexus device again..(here is hoping Sprint continues to play a role in the Nexus devices!!) Android is at it's best when it's running as Google intended. Not to mention the updates and development..
Anyways. Welcome glad you like it.

I have bought 3 phones off contract now and it is expensive hobbie but then again smoking is expensive too ( I used to smoke a pack a day/ the was like 150$ at month ) so I don't regret it

The sprint stores always seemed surprised. Best buy and the T-Mobile stores never blinked an eye. I've purchased 6 phones at full retail and only got an odd response once (from a Sprint employee).
Having gone from the Nexus One to this phone (and I'll buy the next Nexus phone as well) I hope it comes to Sprint. Otherwise I'll have to jump carriers again.

Galaxy Nexus Goodbye Thread!

Well guys, this may be it. I'm probably going to buy a G-Nex tonight, if not, sometime this week. I've had a great experience here. My first android phone was the DINC and it will be remembered....as my new MP3 player... Sad yet great day! Thanks to all the Devs! Hope to see some of you over at the G-Nex LTE forums!!!
Also, everyone else feel free to use this as a home for your goodbyes!
Same here! I loved my Inc, got it on launch day shipped.
Also same here - I'm thinking of passing it on to my son, who is too young for a phone but loves to game on it. Anyone know of a ROM that is specifically designed to turn it into a sort of aPod?
How would you be able to get one tonight? It releases tomorrow. I'm getting one too probably tomorrow.

There isn't a ROM for that, but there is a WiFi only script in the Dev. section, let me go find it for ya.

Goodbye DINC forums, I've been such a fan for so long. Thank you so much to all the Devs who made the DINC so awesome to have that I kept it way past my upgradability timeframe. I'm off to Galaxy Nexus land but I'll still be around since I now have 3 DINCs I have no idea what I'm going to do with.
I got it! Best phone ever.

Picked up my Nexus last night too. Thanks for all the help, guys hope to see some of you over in the Galaxy Nexus forums.
Got one as well! Hopefully some of our great devs migrate over with us!
Ah DInc, you were a great phone, and because of that I've met a ton of great people in the community. My DInc will be my glorified MP3 player for my car.
I've learned a lot here, since it was my first Android device. I'll miss it here, but you can find me in the Galaxy Nexus / HTC Flyer / Xoom forums.
I'll stop back from time to time, see how things are going!
Mr Skyraider, Jermaine, McD, 'Stang, Newtoroot, and all the devs and others, thanks for doing what you do. See you on the Nexus forums or in future endeavors!

Not good enough
I went into Verizon yesterday to look at the Galaxy Nexus and I just wasn't impressed enough to spend the money. Oh well, maybe the next big phone release will be too irresistible. The whole game playing with the release date changing so much just left a bad taste in my mouth too.
I too, am joining the Galaxy Nexus crowd! It's been a great year and half everyone, hope to see all of you around GN forums!

Goodbye Galaxy Nexus
Well,
After 26 days of owning not one, but 3 Galaxy Nexus phones, I have returned mine as the problems I had with the call quality/signal strength and the phone constantly muting itself during calls, have made me not want it anymore. Yes it was a beautiful device, had great speed, an awesome screen, and a lot of other things, but it didn't live up to what a phone is meant to be, a PHONE!. I know that there are software updates coming out to all of the folks with this phone and I hope that you get your issues resolved by it, but I simply couldn't justify keeping it for what I paid. So now back to an old phone for me until something works out!
Former Inc owner with a Nexus now. Unlocking and rooting the phone was easy. Haven't had a chance to flash anything on it yet but the roms look great. I dunno making the switch was easy for me.

same for me,digging my rezound
I have a rezound, an OG Droid and just picked upa Dinc for the hellovit from a cousin...I cant tell you how impressed I am at the speed and feel of the dinc. I had a tbolt too for a while and the dinc feeps way faster and battery life is magnificent with an evo 2000mah battery in it. May activate the dinc one day just for $h1ts and giggles....

How is the Rezound? I'm not up for an upgrade till April, but I'm between the Rezound and GNex... I'm leaning for for the gnex due to the problems they've had rooting the Rezound

Well, it's been a good run!

My HD2 has finally failed. A quick death (a week ago working fine; now the dreaded "screen is not responding" issue.)
Just a quick good bye to my HD2 kin.
From learning to theme on WM (making cabs!) to learning android (decompiling!) it was all done here.
Off to something new. Maybe the HTC One...we'll see.
(and if you have tmobile US and have a suggestion, I am all ears...)
Cheers to all and thanks.

So true. Wish it would keep working.
I still have my good ol' hd2, only one volume button works, bottom buttons are finnicky, and I had to sacrifice the radio antenna coax to use it for a wifi coax, usb port is broken out of the phone, but I still take it out of my drawer of dead phones and play around with it sometimes. RIP HD2, best smartphone ever made

Hi James, sorry to hear that news buddy,I recently passed on my HD2 to my wife and after very little use by her (tbh she barely uses it as a phone, more like an move player) she had broken the head phone socket,i.e the jack won't slide in. As you can see from my sig I've gone to a galaxy note as my daily driver, it's been a great move, but if you were considering the note, get the international version unless you really need the 4g lte of the us phone.all the best to you ..Marc

:crying::crying::crying::crying: I cant tell you how upset I am after loosing my HD2 today...
they say a person's anger is his greatest victim and I learned that lesson
Smashed my HD2 on the floor in anger...now I only have bits and pieces of it left. Was my first phone I bought with my first paycheck...more than the price was the emotional value of the phone...nothing can bring it back.
Take a lesson from my experience and never let your anger lead you. :crying::crying:

Well... R.I.P my Shamu....

The time has come... my nexus 6 gave up... it's not wanting to register the press from the power button any more... as hard and as much as I press the button, it doesn't work... double tap to wake isn't working anymore. It's lived a good life this was my favorite phone and my gateway drug to being a flashaholic. But goodbye all on Shamu thread, now I am temporarily using the phone of the devil (iPhone) because it was an extra phone we had at the house... but my next phone will be the OnePlus 3T:good: so I will see you there! I never thought I'd still be using my Nexus 6 that I got on RELEASE DAY.
As long as nothing crazy happens I'm going to hold out, but I'm pretty sure this is the last phone season that I sit out.
This has been an amazing phone.
Are you going to sale you're nexus 6? The reason im asking is because I have a nexus 6 got it it first came out and is the only phone that I will use. I would like to have you're nexus 6 if the price us right to us for parts.
