Atrix 2 got ICS Leak - Atrix 4G General

The guys at the Atrix 2 forum have found their leak too. Seems like Moto is really working on the updates. I hope we are next!

OMG! O_O
Sorry, nothing constructive to add. Just excitement

I kinda get why everyone is upset about not getting ICS already. Atrix came out in February 2011 and every phone that came out after that got ICS first.

Why everyone is so desperated for the update? Its says Q3. It may happen in july, August or September. When the phone was released, it was gingerbread upgradeable not ics upgradeable

Indeed. This is a Froyo phone, no matter.the specs. Im grateful that Moto is going to give us official ICS. With ICS, we are going to get the new drivers that are going to work well on JB and maybe in the next Android release.

When the atrix was released gingerbread was already out, in all honesty, it should have come with gingerbread.

Im totally positive that they will help for JB, and judging from Android's past behavior with updates, im about 75% sure that they will also be good for Lime Pie (if thats the name for the next release of Android. These drivers are going to be good for Android 4.x.x, they will stop working for sure on Android 5.0. Thats going to be the end for the Atrix, at least with drivers. Thats just my guess tough.

[Edit]
Upon further review you may be right. I certainly hope Key Lime Pie is Android 4.2 with driver compatibility with ICS/JB.

I have to agree with some of the others. My next upgrade is in February. Even I had an upgrade now I wouldn't use it yet. My Atrix has be great and there isn't any phone at the moment that really jumps out at me and says get me. The Atrix HD came close for me (want to stick with Moto because I love their hardware and software is finally starting to catch up). The only things that bother me with the Atrix HD is that because it is very similar to the Razr I'm worried about the battery life. Also, there is no Webtop. Webtop 3.0 was looking good and doesn't tax the cpu like the current version since essentially it is running in tablet mode. I'm kind of holding out to see if Moto does with the Atrix HD what they did with the Razr. The Atrix HD Maxx maybe. I would hope that they bring Webtop 3.0 to it and bring back the fingerprint scanner (fingerprint scanner not a deal breaker). Sorry got a bit off topic.
Hope we will see an OG Atrix leak soon.

Some people only want what they don't have. Don't have ICS therefore they want it.

it is going to happen the nexus one can run it. Our phone is much more powerful that the the nexus S is very similar. They pulled back froyo. All signs point to us getting it but it will most likely take 2 months for binaries to be released and a build to be compiled. And I don't want to hear the nah sayers going on and on that you can't trust samsung blah blah blah... Even noob said we are getting it and I know he is on this inside track.

We will probably get it around the time that 3.0 comes out or 3.1 usually how it works. 2.3 comes out now..sprint releases 2.2 to epics... at least we get updates faster than most US carriers do. Look at evo. Sprint plz OTA 2.2 already.

All in all google is going to greater lengths to help push out the updates faster. Its one of the biggest gripes with android. Look to the gingerbread update to change things. After gingerbread android os will be much more uniform.

I expect things to change greatly once 3.0 comes out..this is when release cycles for android will slow down thus giving manufacturers more leeway..
Agreed. I think they are planning on phazing out UI overlays as well when 3.0 comes out. No more motoblur, sense, tw, etc. For the tech geek we like it because we port things over from other platforms. But the Ios boobs they just want something shiny and homoginized, and that's probably the demographing android wants to really take on

Also, the Samsung Stratusphere that will soon be released on Verizon is somewhat identical to our Epic's so...best case scenerio: it will eventually get ICS and we can port it over or use some of their source to build from. Worst case scenerio: we can borrow some of their devs so they can help us out with whatever we need help with

Not impossible, but not likely. The epic touch came out, so thatll be their flagship phone . We'd have better luck with cm8
The 18 month promise only applies to future phones.
I doubt our phone will ever get Ice Cream officially. Hacked and/or through CM possibly.

I'll be very surprised if they release ICS for the Epic. Its been 9 months and they can't put together a solid GB build that is close to bug-free. At that rate, I don't see them supporting this phone into the end of 2012. GB will probably be the last official unless there are maintenance fixes. Its a shame this phone never got the proper support it deserved.

Not a good enough reason. If you notice the dfferent versions of GB they've went through you'll understand that for every GB version 2.3, 2.3.2, 2.3.3, and 2.3.4; Samsung took a month to two months of testing and improving. GB been in the works since april/may starting with 2.3 and now we're at 2.3.4. And from the looks of it they're in the last month of testing and improving GB
Even though 2.3.7 is out apparently lol.

Icecream sandwich isn't out yet. Therefore we don't have gingerbread. The general rule of thumb with these phones has been always being one release behind.

Amen Bro ! Thats why I love this site so much. It doesn't really matter what T-Mobile does so its kind of a pointless conversation. I would't really even take the KIES update or OTA update from T-Mobile anyways. I will wait untill someone here gets a good stable JB Release. I am reluctant to change because my ICS rom is so smooth and stable but I know within a few months it will be worth it. It's like a slap in the face to the slow and bloated T-Mo. Rom.

I wouldn't do a kies update either. My hope is for Samsung to release source so that the devs here have more to work with. That was what dogged the vibrant. They eventually released Froyo for it, but nothing further. The GB/ICS/JB releases for it were all ported from either the i9000 or the Nexus S, and had to be tweaked since there was no actual source to work with for the vibrant itself. That's why the GPS was so spotty on it on any version of android after Froyo. I'm glad that my insurance replacement for my busted Vibrant was the Hercules, which is still in the window of time (was it 18 months?) that they pledged to support upgrades to android. Whether we actually see it is another story. At least the devs here really kick some butt on the ROMs they release.
Just got JB on my tf300 2 days ago
Asus updates waaaay quicker than Samsung! Maybe later on I could get an Asus Phone.

There's already a Jelly Bean discussion thread that has been hidden away at the top of this forum
