Hi, I have the international version of the GS3, and I see that we have different forums for each carrier, together with an "original" version for each one as well. Could someone explain which one should I look at and what this original one means?
thanks
Emerson
The following applies to the Original Android Development section:
"This is meant for the newest roms ie: aosp, cm, aokp source builds. Kernels from source also. If you are porting a rom, it belongs in the normal development section, not here. Stock, I repeat stock roms; ones from Samsung themselves as in new versions; can go here.
Also for this section. Roms an kernels that bring forth something revolutionary that other roms do not have."

There is a separate forum for the international Galaxy S III.

Since we have a thread where the latest Radio ROMs are available,
would not be a thread about all shipped roms good too
and could gather there?

For this to work you'd need the approval of each rom chef. Plus you'd update thread with each new release?
Sent from a little black thing with flashy lights....oooh its a phone!!!
Hm,thought maybe a dev or mod can make this possible.
Because saw this at few other device sections.
Approval from ROM chef?
I mean collecting all/or most original shipped ROMs (RUU.exe)

Think he means all OEM ROMs, like all of these Stock Z ROMs that're being posted, and any/all g2 AOSP Stock ROMs, straight from the manufacturers.
Jep,right.
I know about "shipped rom" site, but only some ROMs there
Knock your socks off if you wanna dig through all this threads to collect them into a thread you create.
I'm not familiar with Desire rom or else i would
Or post it in the pinned radios roms etc thread and i'll find a way to get it into post 2 with you as the poster
Why is there TWO developemnt threads. Which is the one to use. Very confusing.
because this makes it easier to find which kind of development your searching for as original mean AOSP,GM9 , KERNELS, miui and other original stuffs and not only zipedited roms like touchwiz roms where the rom maker just added stuff they liked without buildning from scratch
It was done to separate real development threads from photoshop and winzip roms.
Read this: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/introducing-original-development-forums-for-more-devices/
And deal with it.
I don't like it, in my opinion. Real dev threads were naturally on the top of the development forums, its not like you had to go digging. Now its just multiple clicks to check on what ROMs are available and adds more forums to the 120341230123 amount of forums on XDA.
wanna know the difference with some funny screenshots? here you go

wrong logic mate!! both developers/cookers contribute to the community just in a different way...
Why checkrom evohd v3 is in original android dev section? It's samsung based rom!
There is only one original and that is Cyanogenmod (they build from scratch). The rest are samsung or CM9 derivates. Correct me if i am wrong

You're mostly right, but it's difficult where to draw the line. AFAIK AOKP for instance, also uses the AOSP source code, but incorporates many (if not all) CM9 features. So, is it based on CM9 or AOSP? You see what I mean?
I think it's safe to say that the original developers build their stuff from source (either pure AOSP or CM9 as a base), whereas most other developers use winzip (or extract APK's, but not using the source code). That's why I can understand why Checkrom is in the original section (using a self-made OTA tool). But it's mostly subjective and difficult to judge what goes where...
It is only confusing when it seems that certain roms should be in the opposite section and vice versa.

AOKp on our sgs3 is dead
It would be nice if they were named . AOSP based Development, Samsung based development. The mix is all wrong at the moment.

Why is this thread in a development section?
Should be in general

Moved to General, there is a portal post here about the issue.
Keep the discussion on topic and civilized and this thread will stay open.
Running make doesn't make (heh) your work original.
So if I went and grabbed the CM9 repo and built it my subsequent ROM wouldn't be original. If I'd made lots of changes to the source code then built it, it would be original.
How is it you lot struggle with what the word "original" means, I don't get it.
As for whichever idiot said "IT'S TOO MUNNY CLICKZ", what? It's one extra click you numpty.
CheckROM should be in Original. Why? Apart from being the first to materialize Kitchen on ROMS (Kudos to Leomar), the team do also have its own Kernel which is the DarkKnight.
I searched around a bit and couldn't really find an answer. I see an Original Nexus 7 Dev forum and a Nexus 7 Dev forum. Will all the roms work on any Nexus 7? Why 2 different forums?
If it's anything like the Note 2 forum, the original development is reserved for ROMs that are, well, original, whereas the Nexus development is ports, and builds based off of stock. They should all work, just read read read the thread before flashing.

Hmmm thanks for the responses but it still seems kinda vague and redundant. Both forums have CM ROMs and AOKP ROMs. Both forums have ROMs based off of the stock ROM. Maybe they should just join the two forums.

Original development= coding done to source by op developer.
Development = sources of those many original works forked and cherry picked into a single Rom of choice by op.
Or... if in a non nexus section, any work based on oem firmware.
I was curious is there were any non-touchwiz(non-samsung based) roms in existence, aside from CM?
I understand the MIUI is also TW based. Is there anything else? AOKP Kang does not appear to have a ROM for I9500. Am I missing any project?

What the difference between the original development thread and the regular development thread?
Please read the stickies in the threads.
As We All Know Samsung Has Released Many Variants For Different For Different Countries But There Is Only Two International Variants
G900F And G900H But There Is Only One Android Development For Variants And It Is So Cumbersome To Search For Kernels, Roms Bla..Bla...Bla So if There Will Be A Separate Thread For G900H Or Other Variants It Would Be Great. So Moderators Please Make Separate Thread For Other Variants You Does With S4 And Note 3.
Thanks In Advance
hrithikgupt.
Owners Of Other Variants Can Also Request Separate Thread For There Device,Please Help Me By Posting In This Thread Thanks.
Lol no.
There's no need. There are only two kernels and zero roms for the G900H.
If there was such a need, then the forums would be separate (like the Note 3 forums)

I think dont have much topics for exynos version
Sent from my SM-G900M using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
That would be nice, but it seems we are out of luck since there aren't' many active developments for the G900H

in my opinion still it's necessary to have separate the G900H and G900F. the exynos version is almost new, that's why there are not much development for that model. there will be new rom for this model soon. so it's better to separate them.
Yes There Is Requirements Of Seprate Thread Because When Development Of G900H Will Start It Will Be Cumbersome To Sort Out Roms And Kernel That That It May Not Made Anytime.
Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk
Let's wait until that happens, shall we? right now there's not much compelling evidence that there will be development for Exynos variant.
Plus the demanding attitude is a real turn off. First it was "why there aren't any custom kernels?" then now it is "why don't we have our own threads/forums for our non-existant development?". It would be very sad to have a whole forum just for two threads and maybe more if we add the custom recoveries.
It takes very little time to move threads to another forum, if there was a necessity then a new forum would be created and a mod can move them there.
