Original Nexus vs. Nexus? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I searched around a bit and couldn't really find an answer. I see an Original Nexus 7 Dev forum and a Nexus 7 Dev forum. Will all the roms work on any Nexus 7? Why 2 different forums?

If it's anything like the Note 2 forum, the original development is reserved for ROMs that are, well, original, whereas the Nexus development is ports, and builds based off of stock. They should all work, just read read read the thread before flashing.

Hmmm thanks for the responses but it still seems kinda vague and redundant. Both forums have CM ROMs and AOKP ROMs. Both forums have ROMs based off of the stock ROM. Maybe they should just join the two forums.

Original development= coding done to source by op developer.
Development = sources of those many original works forked and cherry picked into a single Rom of choice by op.
Or... if in a non nexus section, any work based on oem firmware.

Which Android Development forum to use?

Hi, I have the international version of the GS3, and I see that we have different forums for each carrier, together with an "original" version for each one as well. Could someone explain which one should I look at and what this original one means?
thanks
Emerson
The following applies to the Original Android Development section:
"This is meant for the newest roms ie: aosp, cm, aokp source builds. Kernels from source also. If you are porting a rom, it belongs in the normal development section, not here. Stock, I repeat stock roms; ones from Samsung themselves as in new versions; can go here.
Also for this section. Roms an kernels that bring forth something revolutionary that other roms do not have."

There is a separate forum for the international Galaxy S III.

leaked firmware

what leaked Rom should i go for aokp jb aosp aokp jb milestone 1 out of them what is the best Rom to go for and if there is any other Rom that look like nexus jb and is better Ron let me know sorry for my bad English
You need to read some more.... none of those are leaked firmwares.... Also asking which one you should go with is my allowed. Test them out for yourself. And everyone else who reads this thread. Don't give him answers to which is the 'best'. There isn't a best ROM.

All the Roms are good because someone has taken time and alot of effort to make them, No Such Thing as The Best Rom
Everyone has different preferences so the choice is entirely up to you.
Common sense & research will give you the answer you need, and remember without the dev's there would be no Rom's
:good:
Use the search function and read about all the ROM available and their current state to find what you want.
I'll be kind to get you started, check out this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943391 and read the first few posts (see if you like all the features the ROM has). It's a mix of AOKP, AOSP (CM10) and ParanoidAndroid settings to have per app dpi, follow the steps to flash it if you like what you see.
Note: There are lots of polished ROMs out there but I'm using it and I like it, so it all goes down to your preferences in the end
Wasn't this locked?

1st: DO NEVER POST A QUESTION ON A DEV SECTION.
2nd: The difference is android development is roms or kernels or mods that is modified from a base (most of them are either CM10, AOKP,PA modified roms) where's a the original is unique development that only one person or a team have made (for example a kernel based from stock google with HIS OWN MODIFICATIONS)
3rd: It will work no problem.
Note: This is as far as I know. If i'm mistaken, please tell me what is the good thing then.

Which ROM to run on Nexus 4

I got my Nexus 4 yesterday and I've been using an S3 for a month or so running CM 10.1
Should I flash CM 10.1 on my Nexus 4, or will there be a new version that will soon be released pertaining to 4.2.2?
How stable is CM on the Nexus 4? I had a few issues with it on the S3. Will it be as reliable as stock?

The CM ROM for the N4 is stable, I've been using it for a while and haven't had any problems.
I think the latest nightly has the 4.2.2 updates in it already.
Which ROM to use is kind of personal though and depends on what you want, take a look at the ROMs in the threads and you will see quite a few choices, and then there are even a lot of different kernels too so there are plenty of choices.
Rasbean Jelly or Xenon HD. Both are stable as can be.

I personally love SlimBean. Right now I'm using my Slim-Star ROM (PM me for details and download link) which is based off of SlimBean.

In these kind of threads a lot of ROMs always are mentioned. I think you can better take a look around the forum and decide for yourself.

I found the best ROM for me by installing the popular ones for a few days each then picking the one I liked the most.
I'm using PA 3+ (ParanoidAndroid), It's CM 10 based, this rom has Hybrid UI (Table UI, Stock UI, etc) and have a lot of colors improvements and the best feature is the PIE control that is really awesome.
You can check PA 3+ here and you can check the development forum for all the other roms available.
Good Luck! =)
I'll probably just go with CM since its what I'm used to. Don't have time right now to try a bunch of different things.
My phone currently isn't rooted. Can someone link a good guide on how to root and install CM?
No
NEXUS 4...Make em say uhhh..nah nah nah

If you want to do the process yourself here is the guide, if not here is a toolkit.
And here is CM 10.1 with instructions.
Good Luck and Enjoy! =)
Cm10.1 4.2.2 no doubt

I don't like CM10. I find stock smooth, and I think when RasbeanJelly is updated to 4.2.2 base, you should use that.

[Q] What are the differences in development threads?

I know this must be a question which has been asked a few times but, what exactly are the 2 different development threads for? From my experience in these forums I know "Android Development" to be roms and kernels based off of stock. But i see Paranoid Android roms in that section as well :S
So what exactly are the real differences. And what are the differences between CM and AOSP? CM was made from AOSP right? :S
If you know the question has been asked before then why not just search?
Cm is made from aosp.
