So , I just received an update an hour ago and successfully installed it. I was already on ICS before that, and I'd like to know what this update is about. Are there any fixes? do know where I can get a hold of their change log?
Thanks

There is a topic about the update in which Dr. Ketan says the following:
UPDATE what is new
- POPup PLAY watch movies when you mailing…. (Galaxy SIII)
- Restart button is green.
- Some icons changed.
- Faster.
- Signature unlock.

HiYa from Scotland!!
It's early days, but I'm sure guys will be into 4.0.4 and find out exactly what's good and what isn't. Just one thing, don't factory re-set until we see positive news about the eMMc brick bug that affects the SGN running ICS
My note is not hot after upgraded to 4.0.4 and it is faster, the pattern lock screen changed. Wake lock still testing on it. (Need to test out if this extends the battery)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
My galaxy note is running perfectly now, that means faster, and I dont' have to do all those tricks to get a deep sleep.
However, what I am about is this feature that I read somewhere. Too bad I was in a hurry that time, and didn't get a chance to save the link , but what it mentioned was that this "premium" version gave the capability where you can directly write into the s-note app, without the need to open the app. I am imagining that if you you have it on your main screen, you can directly write to it already, unlike before when it needed to open the app before you can do something.
Was these all true? or did I assume wrong?

Yes, u must be referring to the quick S Note, but this is available on 4.0.3 already.
S Memo Quick Note>>>

S Memo doesn't open after ICS 4.0.4 Update on GT-N7000
Hi Folks,
I updated my GT-N7000 to ICS 4.0.4 update (87Mb, India) through OTA, and after that the S Memo doesn't open at all. The Application does 'open' but gives a black screen before displaying a message, 'Unfortunately, S Memo couldn't open' and gives me an option to cancel or wait.
Its been a few days since the update and i tried emptying cache, clearing application data and also wiping partition cache but none of it worked.
Please provide a solution for this issue as S Memo is like a canvas for me.
Thanks
does anyone know if its safe to root from here directly and flash from it directly? or do i still need a aosp before flashing new roms

Hi,
I don't know if someone else found this problem. I made a video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RS9j4uiTDaE. It's also in FullHD.
And wrote a post in my blog in my native language, spanish: http://retreteinformatico.blogspot.com/2012/01/touchwiz-40-y-problemas-con-la.html
The video description is english. I'll also explain the problem here:
Simply put, TouchWiz does not save the icons in the place where I leave them. At first I organized all of them in two screens: one with folders and the other with most frequently used icons. After doing a power on-off cycle the icons are all scattered without alphabetical order in three screens instead of two. The folders maintain their ordering and screen. An icon (AllShare) is put between two folders and the other icons are divided in two screens, disordered, not alphabetical.
In the video you'll see first what I found after the icon position screwing. Then I get three or four apps out of their folder (Google Talk, Gmail, Maps, Market) and put them with the rest of the icons and the AllShare app is put with the rest, out of the screen with the folders. Then I power off the phone and turn it on again to find that GTalk, Maps, Market and AllShare are out of their place.
After that, I put the icons more or less where I want to put them (in two screens) and I do again a power cycle to show how did TouchWiz screw my icon organization.
I'm using Android 2.3.4 XWIK4 with baseband XXKI1.
If someone is able to reproduce the problem just tell it. Maybe touchwizh has problems if you put in folders the Samsung apps (Hubs and more), I don't know, but it's a big problem.
Folder/Icon rearrangement is a known problem with TouchWiz since day 1 when SGS2 got released.
Best way to get around is to use AppSorter and sort your App Drawer everytime you create a folder.
Posting problems about 2.3.4 when everyone else is on 2.3.6 = VERY SERIOUS BUSINESS!
Update your phone and test it and give feedback!
Hmmm, I didn't know. How comes that Samsung hasn't fixed this in 8 monts?
This is ludicrous.

Love the name of your blog: informatic toilet (retrete informatico) ahahah
Anyway: They suck on fixing bugs.. if we users and devs cant fix'em we are screwed lol
Also, why any reviewer spoted this problem? Add to this the Fujitsu camera module problem and you get the idea that QA on Samsung is really poor. Just remember the GPS problem on Samsung Galaxy S1.

I read your first post about upgrading to 2.3.6. Well, if I just use the default Samsung support, I'm stuck to 2.3.4, as my phone is Austrian version and Samsung didn't release nothing newer than 2.3.4 for those phones.
So Samsung sucks big as a company and client support.
Of course if I start to root the phone and installing custom ROMs the problem would disappear, but flashing your phone and breaking your warranty is not something the user should do for something that's supposed to work from the beginning. Different thing is if the user wants extra functionality, but this is not the case.
So, all in all, I'll wait until ICS gets released and after that if it doesn't convince me, I'll root and who know if I flash a custom ROM.
I had that trouble before where one app ended up going to the next page and kept going back there. I think simply restoring the order, going to TwLauncher in the application list and then force stopping should make it remember the order you gave it once you go back.

If I force stop TwLauncher the apps are again "out of control" :-/
I'll try to clear the cache although I'm reluctant because I'll need to recreate all folders again
I have partially solved the problem by clearing the cache of TouchWiz launcher.
Now the SIM service app keeps going back to the same place out of its folder, but I refuse to clear again the cache and organize all my apps. Maybe it's because the SIM service app is something variable. If I kill touchwiz process that app appears inside it's folder (once the cache corruption is solved), but if I turn off the phone and turn on again, the SIM app appears out of the folder.
This is crap.
Well, know what? I've installed some applications at one time, all from Samsung Apps, and after rebooting the phone all my folders are empty and the apps inside them are all spread across 6 screens instead the 2 screens I managed to sort. The apps and folders have lost the position I assigned to them.
Now I have a bunch of icons in random order and I don't want to organize again 6x8 = 48 icons plus the home screens which would turn to default state after clearing the cache of the touchwiz manager.
It's very annoying and unusable. I want to throw the phone through the window.
What I can't understand is how this bug has been happening since launch date and Samsung hasn't been able to solve it. My only hope is the ICS update and I don't have much confidence on it. Probably I'll have to flash a custom ROM and then try to get some Samsung software on it.
The free games offer is very good
PS: Well, maybe it has some explanation->Samsung's poor software development quality assurance. Camera's firmware also suffer from it.

With all due respect, and not aiming to sound rood to you, with that mentality (it should work fine out of the box and I don't care if somewhere else there's a newer version...) you shouldn't be posting on XDA because people we'll obviously tell you to upgrade to the latest version, whether it's from a different operator/country (legit) or simply a leak.
You can't expect people here to act like the only way to use the phone is by following what Samsung/your operator is dictating you. We all know and have long ago agreed that operators and manufacturers are lazy when it comes to QA, and that's why a place like XDA exists

The camera firmware bug affects to all people, doesn't matter if you have stock Android or custom ROM. So we're all in the same bag. And this is Galaxy S II General forum, so I post this here because norms allow it.
Anyways, thanks for your reading.
Actually clearing the cache helped! Ever since I updated to 2.3.6 I have had this problem but after clearing the cache it has been resolved. But initially after the update the folders did remember for a couple of days after which the problem started for me. But for now clearing the cache worked well.
Hello, did u guys already tried Menu>Save in app drawer after modifying/rearranging apps/folder?

Why is everybody so amazed of the Popup Player?
Just download Super Video from the PlayStore and you get a Popup Player with more features and widgets
Has anyone tried the signature unlock feature? Is it as much of a gimmick as the face unlock feature?
Is that all?
Doesnt look it worth the trouble of NOT having Criskelo's and Hardcore's magic anymore

To be honest, I'm surprised Samsung included pop up play for the Note!

There is also a new 'ticker' feature for your lock screen, you can get feeds from facebook, news or stocks..check that out, there may also be some new multi window apps, can't remember seeing youtube there before.

oh is there sounds good i will have to check it out.
i cant see youtube on mine and im still on 4.1.1
its a shame that you cant have all your apps in multi window without rooting your device and that, pretty annoying tbh.
i think i read you can modify the appone by one but thats long specially if u have to update the app etc n have lots of apps on your device
This is update for those who DIDN'T have 4.1.2 before?
Or is this update an update ON TOP of 4.1.2?
This is the official update for the UK to 4.1.2 as we seem to have been waiting for a long time. Cannot comment on whether it is any different to other countries 4.1.2 but nice to see I can now run standard Android Twitter client as a multi-window app.
Could anyone upload this firmware? I can't download it from kies as im not on official firmware
Might be on sammobile.com...
Not on Sammobile at the moment.
Dont remember seeing lecture notes & papyrus as multi window apps prior to the update today, but they are in the list now for sure.
New apps added with multi-window on my Note are:- Astro File Manager, ChatOn, Chrome, Facebook, Gmail, Google Maps, MX Player, Google Talk, Twitter and YouTube. I know I had Papyrus in 4.1.1 and I think I may have had MX Player but not sure on that one.
Multi-window seems a little difficult to make work sometimes - the multi-window button appears in the bottom right corner on some of these and doesn't always work, seeming to activate whatever is under the button. Also can't see the button anywhere on Papyrus - how does it work on here - this would be really useful for me?
At last youtube and snotes on stock multiwindow!!
and being able too edit which apps and in what order they appear on the multi window bar, this tablet gets better and better

Hi guys,
I've used ZOE ROM v7.0 for quite some time now, happily, but after a while, it 'broke': MX Player stopped playing videos, home button isn't recogized anymore (but still working properly), some settings were reset, hold-power-button menu resetted back to 3 items (screenshot+reboot+shutdown), google accounts get's randomly deleted on reboot ever since, etc. I don't know why ( @LeoPosas U NO Y? ).
So, since I want to buy the Google Nexus 5, but release date isn't given away yet, and I need a usable phone tough, I have 2 3 options:
update ZOE to v7.7, or...
update to a premade Android 4.x ROM that also is small and bleeding fast.
grab a random 4.x ROM, get the list of all customizations from @LeoPosas, and apply them all manually
I'm too lazy ass to figure it out myself, 'cuz I'm sure someone has already figured out the same damn thing, and I'm not going to reïnvent the wheel.
So why did my ROM broke, and which one to update to? Thx

Hi.
I don't know if I'm in the right place because I'm in canada and have the 900w8 (with Wind/Freedom) but anyway, just bought my Note 3 recently and I see no Mobile Data shortcut on the Notification panel and it seems this was a common problem after some update and I couldn't find any fixes for this. Also, the phone has Android version 5, which I know isn't the latest version but looks like there will be no updates for us.
So, any way I can get the Data shortcut, or maybe the android 6 version? My phone is stock everything.
Thanks.

Best I can tell you is to flash with Odin stock 5.0, but other than that, I do not know how you could fix it. Or just root it and try a custom ROM if that is something so important to you.
Thanks again for the reply and the suggestions, man. Yeah I don't know why this is happening with the Note 3s but like I said this was a common problem after some update. I've never rooted or flashed any phone and I don't know if I want to do this. So, looks like I have to live with this inconvenience. It also looks like I won't be able to swipe down to access shortcuts unless I unlock the screen. On my Moto E (Android 6) I'm able to do that without having to unlock the screen. That's another inconvenience.

Is that the case? I am not on stock anymore, but I think I remember it was possible if I just had the lockscreen to "swipe".
But then again, it could be a difference between Android 5 and 6
Flashing is an intimidating task and requires a lot of research but not as much as you may think.
Anyway, I'm not going to grind on that suggestion. Best I can tell you now is, enjoy your Note 3 experience
