A2sd for AOKP b40 discussion - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Xylo as well as mods have requested a separate thread for the discussion of a2sd for AOKP since it is not related particularly to the Rom. I saw many people asking the same questions as I have been wondering myself. So I decided to open a thread so we can share our experiences and also get the information in one place. I am wanting to know how to do this as well and as I gather info I will post it here and all others are welcome to contribute as well. Please let's respect the dev and not post in his thread

this works absolutly perfect for me:

greetz ice

I just used App2SD of Android assistant app just now & it moved the whole 26mb of Temple Run to SD running in AOKP B40 but i'm not sure about the rest of the apps if it can do the same since I just flashed it last night leaving me with just 255mb of space
====================================================
now using Link2SD more versatile!

Sry bad forum, please delete..

Yeah for me its working flawless. I just left the cache on nand, with cache on sd-ext, the android market has fc's.
I changed to this script from amarullz rc01, it was a bit buggy in combination with aopk b40, got a lot of stucks and sometimes reboots, which one was followed by another reboot, with the message that a new sim was recognized.
my settings are:
apps / enable
dalvik /disable
swap /enable
cache /disable
But it's only running for a few hours. I will reply in a few days with more information about bugs or no bugs

so after some days of work with the mount2sd script i have to say everything work absolutly perfect. I found a solution how to apply cache on sd-ext. You have to enable "/m2sd dl-cache" . if i did understand everything right, then will that only move the downloaded app cache onto sd-ext partition. I changed some settings. So now my settings are:
m2sd dalvik enable
m2sd dl-cache enable
m2sd apps
m2sd swap
i think thats it. The only thing is, if u install many apps at one time or one big e.g any big game . U have to reboot the phone that the script can move all on ext partition. Just in case that u will run out of internal memory. After reboot all things are moved and u got the "normal" hd2 internal capacity. (Damn EU hd2 version^^ )

Use wipe data/cache (factory reset ) option in CWM . Make sure you install a rom after that
Just do wipe data from cwm recovery and flash the new rom. If im not wrong you only have to flash ext4 patch for an ext4 rom but not the other way around. Tbh i didnt find any major difference between ext3 and ext4.
Thanks Guys i thought as much but wanted to make sure. No i never noticed any major differences between them but i want to flash Honeysense 4.0 when it's uploaded and it's ext3. Gotta love Honeysense!!! Big ups to Samuel!!!!! Just a few more posts then i can post on the dev area's of the forum. Silly rule!
Haha me too. Got what i think is a bug in tb fusion rom so trying to get my posts up so i can post it in the dev forum. Might give honeysense a go actually while the bug gets fixed.
Honeysense is quite good
but im waiting for the EXT4 version now.. please come out tonight
Yeah the ext4 version should be cool the new rosie is excellent and mattes new swype keyboard he is developing looks to be his best work yet!
Sent from my DHD on Honeysense through the XDA App! Take it easy!
Honeysense HD EXT 4 come out already
A question from me, so if coming from ext 4 you just do a full wipe in CWM (system, data, cache and then factory reset) then install the ext 3 ROM.
But what if your on ext 3 and want to try a ext 4 ROM what is the procedure ?

If u want to go to ext4 rom, u run first full wipe ext4 1.5 and then the rom.U will find full wipe zip in every ext4 rom in addons.

Is different ways to partition the SD Card but what are the differences exactly and what are the pros or cons for our phone I have no idea, at least not yet

This is not true! This is not concern SD card.
If you use EXT 4 in your phone, for example using rom ARHD 5.1.11 which is build on EXT 4 , your device will work much better, and SD card stay untouch.
So does the ext4 format speed up the usage or not? AND is it noticeable or not?
Because in nearly every update for roms they write speed improvements, but I don't really notice them.

I think the speed improvements are quite minimal but noticeable, after formating everything to ext4, i noticed a smoother handling.
So why not trying out and test a little bit? It works, dont worry The newest LordMOD UE Kernel for example has many ext4 patches inclusive.
Sry for my bad english =)
Forgot to say: I use CM #108 with LordMOD UE 4.5.1 Kernel and newest Radio, works like a charm

Mike's ICS ROM

Before I say anything, I know this is probably in the wrong place, but it wouldnt let me post in the development forums because of my low post count, I also know this ROM is in a pre-alpha stage and will have many broken features and bugs, this is not what I am asking about.
I just want to know if anyone knows how big the ROM is, I want to try it out to see what it could be like, the download is 167MB, but is that how big the installed rom is? I have resized partitions in my flash memory, therefore if its bigger than 150MB I will need to resize again.
Also (I know basic question) will I still beable to boot to CWM to restore a nandroid backup of Swiftdroid? I know that atleast Wifi and GSM dont work, as long as the info on Mike's web page is up to date, this alone will mean I will need to roll back after I have had a look around, so a nandroid backup will be the best way.
I only ask the last question because I have only used swiftdroid so I need to make sure.
the download contain the recovery version and fastboot version in the one zip the system is about 140MB
Thanks, my system partition is just big enough, do you have any sugestions on a reasonable size for my system partition? Mainly for when more is working and I upgrade perminantly 10MB isnt enough for any updates imo.

I dont get any rebooting on my phone, and barely any force closes except things confirmed not to work.
If you have resized system and data partitions, I changed my system partition to 170MB because there is alot to come to the rom and it could get alot bigger, I can always lower it if needed.

how do you partition the system to 180MB? I also have the same problem of restarting .. however there are problems with the keyboard and I found the official ICS only by the number of posts I am unable to post it on the official post .. so if anyone wants to take this job I can ask in PM the link (because of the number of posts I'm not insert link) (PS: this keyboard would solve many problems; D)

If you haven't already done that, update your TB, the last version works on ICS.
I've been really enjoying this build. Thanks alot for the whole team!
UI runs very smooth and basicly no log at all.
Almost everything works better compared to the orginal 2.3.3 stock rom I used before.
Few things I noticed, the battery life seems to be somewhat worse.
Also a question about the multitasking in ICS. I cant find a way to open the thumbnails? Long pressing home doesnt seem to work and since theres no software based keys (which I think is a good thing) I'm not sure what to do.
Tab P1000 and I'm using the latest kerned (30.1) with bt fix and rom.

Hi all, this thread is a good idea, it mostly works on the galaxy s 2 cm9 forum but their are still idiots posting in the development area. Codeworx (the developer on s2 cm9 thread) has really bought into it and tells people to post in the discussion thread if they post noob stuff in the dev thread. If the devs here (cdesai, humberOS etc) buy into this discussion thread then maybe more people will use it
Anyways, i tried changing lcd density to 120 to check out more tablet apps on the market but when I do the keyboard zooms and I can only see half of it, so I can't type properly... Any ideas?

I know that I used the honeycomb alpha at 120 and liked it that small. But my question isn't about the best density to have, it's about the keyboard at 120 and if anyone knows how to fix it or has any suggestions.

MiUi v4 Sound Fc and low storage Discussion

I want to start this thread to help the user who have sound FC and low storage in MiUi v4 beta 5 and 6 build http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439363
First of all I want to thank the great master and the great dev (SMOKIN) who brought us MiUi challange into our HD2 leo .. I'm almost sure that this build (Beta 6 latest) is the stable MiUi that ever used..
Thanks for your great contribution and hard effort for bringing us such a stable build .. Here I want to ask the reputed user of MiUi v4 to donate whatever amount u have for the dev...
Please note : HERE I OPENED THIS THREAD AS WE ALL KNOW THAT WE TRIED DIFFERENT PARTITION SIZE BUT STILL IT GIVES LOW STORAGE AND FC. THE PARTITION I WAS TRYING IS 220mb, 180mb, 150mb, 250mb etc AND MORE BUT NO LUCK.. Please Read the thread properly.. I'm not good in English.. but I'm sure in this way it will help you
Okie let us start with a detailed explanation from the scratch (beginning)
First of all u need to have MAGLDR ...
When rebooting press end (red) button to enter MAGLDR setting.
Before doin this you need to set the SD card partition size... make it ext3 or ext4 but I prefer ext3 bcos dev Tkirton as mentioned that some rom doesnt support ext4... To partition your SD card. I guess all u know it .. if donno lemme know
Step 1. Go to MAGLDR and click down to get Ad Recovery option which is in the number 8( correct me if I'm wrong)
Step 2. After getting into recovery u need to do is first full wipe data dalvik cache, cache partition... also format System from MOUNT AND STORAGE
Step 3. Now install the Rom MIUI V4 LEO BETA 6.Zip ... (for installing tip - Go to install zip from SD card - choose zip- now select the zip which you want to install )
Step 4. Now after install completed.. please note don't boot or reboot the phone.. bcoz sound FC will happen in this case... just go to step 5
Step 5. Now you have to do is that... http://darktremor.info/files/a2sd/dtapps2sd-2.7.5.2-1-signed.zip download this a2sd from the link.. now flash it same as the step 3 bracket
Step 6. Hah.. you are done now.... now go to option in the recovery ... go to ADVANCED- Fix permission - now wait till its done
Step 7. Now reboot your phone... wait for 5 minutes.. The phone will reboot 3 or 4 times to initialize the a2sd command..
Step 8. When the phone is booted.. you can see there will be no more fc or low storage problem...
Step 9. Nothing more just enjoy
If you have any doubt in this ... please don't mind to write comment here...
If you like my detailed explanation.. it thanks ... you know THANK Button is to thank rather than commenting thanks.

A2SD script

Hey HD2 android users
I am a user who has the constant trouble of low internal memory.
I like and use the NexusHD2 v2.5 by tytung. There is no a2sd script with the rom and the a2sd scripts suggested by tytung cause too many problems(performance lag, issues with app launching, slowing down. etc.)
So the past few days i came upon an a2sd script which worked wonders for me.
No longer does the rom slow down
Here is the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124
I use the INT2EXT+ script.
Instructions are given.
If u experience low sound.
Fix permissions.
I am NOT a developer. This is NOT my work
Just thought of sharing this with the AWESOME community
Remember to give the developer a thanks
And hope it works for you
Good Luck :good:
Thank you.
Although I am happy with Amarullz Data2ext, your words provoked me :>
"performance lag, slowing down ... etc" -
I might actually give it a shot.

Or from the ROM itself using the app "ROM Manager"
Great!
Nice job!
This is a versatile tool for Android-handsets with low internal memory.
Now, I can install 100+ apps on my 100MB-free-internal memory phone (Huawei IDEOS X3).
More space, more apps, now worries.
A2SD scripts and GUI utilizes the SD-card EXT partition.
Currently running on 1024MB EXT partition, with 256MB reserved for Swap (Huawei U8510 also has low RAM).
All sincere appreciation goes to DarkTremor. :good:
