Hey Guys,
Just got the OTA through this morning, few changes, like brightness control under notification bar, zippier. So far, thats all I can notice.
New firmware reads;
AP: I9300XXBLFB
CP: I9300XXLFB
CSC: I9300OXABLFB
Anyone notice anything else?
yeh i just downloaded the update, i've only noticed the brightness control in the notification bar
Might just be me, but im sure the attachment button has moved to the left side of the text entry box in the stock messaging app... im sure it was below the send button previously.
I just hope the exchange issue is solved with this update.
What is the build date for this ROM?

exchange email is a dog.
Sometimes all mail just vanishes and you need to set it up all over again.
Or it just stops syncing.
Shut down page (long hold on power) has changed options inc sound modes.
closed - there is a firmware thread.

For some reason this very rarely updates itself!
Even if i click on it and go to full screen mode and update it,It doesn't show the updated info on my home screen. Is there a bug in the software or is there another reason for this?
Gaz
I found it updates more often after the 2.73 update was applied. Also - for the weather to work you have to have an open internet connection. Also - it will not bother to update unless you have it on the current screen.

Ok mate thanks. Do i have to manually press it then for it to update or should it do it every hour or so on its own?

I had similar issue, do you use Advanced Task Manager or something similar to kill running apps?
I found by adding an exclusion for clock/clock widget it kept my alarms working and the weather updated as well.

I should just update by itself. If it's out of date because the weather has changed or your location has changed it should update after about 5 seconds of arriving on the panel that its on.

Ok thanks mate.
I've just changed to the small weather widget thing and taken off the clock one so i'll see how it go's.
It was just that it was still saying it was dark today.....at about midday
so something wasn't right.
I'll monitor this one then and decide weather to keep it on or not!
Thanks

Hello, apologies if this has been answered, search is not working (returning a message - search is busy try again in 5 minutes)
I'm receiving the notifications for the OTA update but I don't want the update.
There's only 2 options when I receive the update notification - Next, to install, or postpone (for a max period of 1 day).
Pressing the home key gets me back to the home screen - however, I have a notification icon hanging in my status bar now which "clear all" will not remove. The icon looks like to data arrows, one blue one red, facing different directions with a little check mark inside.
Rebooting the phone launches the update notification window again prompting me to continue or postpone - no option for "no thanks, and thanks but do not ask again".
I was under the assumption that I would not be seeing any notifications at all for an OTA update as I am rooted and ROM'd.
Is there anyway to get rid of this update available notification in my status bar?
Also, is there a way to disable the phone from automatically checking for available updates?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Wondering the same thing myself-- searching the bionix thread yielded no results. I assume we're seeing the OTA notification because bionix 1.4 has the JFD base.
Same problem
I got rid of it on my phone by going to data/fota and deleting both delta files then going to software update and letting it try to update (it cant nothing there) but...my wifes phone is being more of a pain. i tried another method of copying the "done" status file into fota and it didnt work. now the first method listed above wont work on hers either lmao...she's mad

Yep, that is probably the case. I ended up getting rid of it by updating to bionix 1.7.
Thanks for the responses.

Other than "upgrade" is there an answer? Sticking with 1.4 for now since I don't want the AOSP messenger, which replaceed the TW one to fix MMS issues.

Sorry, nothing that I know of, aside from what was suggested above.
For what it's worth I'm not digging the new messaging application either, but I can live with it.

I actually got the update pushed to my phone while using bionix 1.2 but chose not to upgrade as I was concerned about lack of compatibility. I flashed bionix 1.7 and the update icon is still there, but under Settings it says no firmware when checking the update.

Hi,
I'm not sure how to go about removing the notification after you've already received it, but if you don't ever want to receive notifications of OTA updates, delete the following from /system/app
wssyncmldm.apk
wssyncmlnps.apk
And delete any corresponding .odex file if you still have one. Then reboot, and goto settings/applications/manage applications and uninstall the weird com.sec.****** files (you should have two.)
reboot, clear cache & dalvik-cache
cheers, =)
Thanks Jocelyn!
Lost or removed features:
- Automatic brightness
- Green Led notification for unread SMS
Worsened features:
- GPS settings
- GPS popup warning each time GPS is enabled
New bugs:
- Low resolution contact pictures
Replaced functionalities:
- Dedicated SMS backup to SD card, superseded by Backup&Restore application, which is unable to restore old backup format.
I would like to collect and discuss all the features removed or lost in the 2.1 update, as well as the new bugs, annoyances, and the features that have somehow worsened.
Please post you list, I will update accordingly the opening post.
This should also be the place where to discuss these issues or post workarounds.
For me a big problem is GPS. The additional setting is gone, and now every time you activate GPS via the widget, you get the confirmation popup
But even worst, the confirmation popup appears even if an application enables GPS in background!
I read auto bright is still there, seems it is on the widget now
Lost Features :
No more Green Led notification when you receive a sms

No, it's a three state: minimum bright; settings bright; maximum bright

Supposedly works just fine if the screen is off.
Feature Worsened:
The signal-to-noise ratio on these forums is far far too low.

Just done a test. With the screen off, I sent me an SMS. I got the new message sound, and then the green led remained off.
You can use BLINK for your LED thing.
I been using it but not sure if you can use it for SMS...

Weird. I've found my phone not blinking for other notifications too, on 1.6.
Have you tried another SMS app?

But it just worked on 1.6.... so definitely wither a new bug or a removed feature!

its one less thing to worry about .
I had a total freeze on stock browser last night couldnt close it down properley had to restart. got used to that though from nokia 5800/x6. thought id seen the last of it.
Luckily it has not happened since so ill give it the benefit of the doubt this time.
worsened: The exchange native support is removed from Android 2.1 and they still got Moxier in there
I am going to use my root to remove all default Google apps so I can install the cyanogenmod versions... see if i can't get exchange back in the mail app and remove bloat.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
The new sms is really anoying. There r no auto bookmark to the newest message like before

Example: For me, I see what I think is a mis-alignment of toggles when I navigate Settings --> Google --> Security. Other toggles seem OK though. For example, Settings --> Display. I have not rooted the device.

yes indeed, not all of the toggles are misaligned, just some of google related app toggles. i found temporary fix though, change your screen resolution to 1080p, text and display zoom to normal, then reboot your phone. after reboot, restore your display settings and voila. everything goes back to normal.
Hi,
Anyone experienced a problem with push notifications on Oreo? I've updated and now some apps are not giving me notifications.
Hangouts and Wordfued are the two I have experienced so far.
If you open the apps up and then go back to the home screen the notifications work. If you close them fro the app switcher screen they stop providing notifications.
Thanks
Andrew

Yes got tge same thing. Ebay, gumtree etc.
I'm dealing with this as well with Tumblr. :/
..and BBM.
More severe problem with whatsapp while the screen is off...
I found a way to get my tumblr notifications to work even after I've closed the app to stop it running in the background. It's not ideal, but until they release an official fix... Meh. Hopefully this works for you guys, too?
Settings
Apps & Notifications
Apps
Settings (The cog icon at the bottom)
Special Access
Ignore Battery Optimisation
Find your app and switch to Allow
And... done!
Again, I hope this works for you too.
It's strange because I still get twitter notifications despite not having to go through this for that app. Hmmn.
Does anyone know how to change the default notification sound for Twitter? It used to be in the settings under push notifications- it would let you select the tone, now it isn't there. I can't find the option in phone settings either- I have 8.0.0.369 (C432).

hi .you solve problem with notifications?

There is a number of guides online, none of which I've got to work. I think the bottom line is, you can't any more.

Over time all the apps that were not working have started working fine. Not sure if that is down to it knowing which apps to keep open or software updates or something else.
Apologies I can't help more.
