Hello, apologies if this has been answered, search is not working (returning a message - search is busy try again in 5 minutes)
I'm receiving the notifications for the OTA update but I don't want the update.
There's only 2 options when I receive the update notification - Next, to install, or postpone (for a max period of 1 day).
Pressing the home key gets me back to the home screen - however, I have a notification icon hanging in my status bar now which "clear all" will not remove. The icon looks like to data arrows, one blue one red, facing different directions with a little check mark inside.
Rebooting the phone launches the update notification window again prompting me to continue or postpone - no option for "no thanks, and thanks but do not ask again".
I was under the assumption that I would not be seeing any notifications at all for an OTA update as I am rooted and ROM'd.
Is there anyway to get rid of this update available notification in my status bar?
Also, is there a way to disable the phone from automatically checking for available updates?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Wondering the same thing myself-- searching the bionix thread yielded no results. I assume we're seeing the OTA notification because bionix 1.4 has the JFD base.
Same problem
I got rid of it on my phone by going to data/fota and deleting both delta files then going to software update and letting it try to update (it cant nothing there) but...my wifes phone is being more of a pain. i tried another method of copying the "done" status file into fota and it didnt work. now the first method listed above wont work on hers either lmao...she's mad

Yep, that is probably the case. I ended up getting rid of it by updating to bionix 1.7.
Thanks for the responses.

Other than "upgrade" is there an answer? Sticking with 1.4 for now since I don't want the AOSP messenger, which replaceed the TW one to fix MMS issues.

Sorry, nothing that I know of, aside from what was suggested above.
For what it's worth I'm not digging the new messaging application either, but I can live with it.

I actually got the update pushed to my phone while using bionix 1.2 but chose not to upgrade as I was concerned about lack of compatibility. I flashed bionix 1.7 and the update icon is still there, but under Settings it says no firmware when checking the update.

Hi,
I'm not sure how to go about removing the notification after you've already received it, but if you don't ever want to receive notifications of OTA updates, delete the following from /system/app
wssyncmldm.apk
wssyncmlnps.apk
And delete any corresponding .odex file if you still have one. Then reboot, and goto settings/applications/manage applications and uninstall the weird com.sec.****** files (you should have two.)
reboot, clear cache & dalvik-cache
cheers, =)
Thanks Jocelyn!

I just restored N7 to factory rom 4.1.2 from 4.2 since lots of apps got crash under 4.2 including xbmc.
but the annoying thing is update notification always pops up.
Is there any way to disable update notification?
I'm looking too. It seems there is a dmservice that needs to be disabled, but I can't find it. Maybe if I change the fingerprint to match 4.2...
Please keep me informed. I don't wanna update just yet either.
I nearly clicked yes when it popped up while I was browsing.
Never mind I managed to do it.
On the update notification in the tool bar. Long click. It gives a box app info. Click that it takes you to Google services framework info. Just under the title there is a tick box for notifications. Untick it and read the message. If you accept, no more update notifications.

Might not be the answer I seem to have gotten rid of the notification but I have had the update flash on the screen since. I was messing with Google services at the time though. I'll keep you posted.
Just to confirm still getting the update notification flashing up in the middle of the screen. Don't get it in the notification bar though.
Anyone know how to stop this?
Same experience here, was able to get rid of the banner but not the popup via Google Services Framework.
I found the download in /cache, so I deleted it. Waiting to see if i still get the popup notification.
Edit: No luck with this... still getting the popup.
Just woke up this AM and I noticed an ongoing notification about the software update, figuring I'd ignore it and deal with it later I locked the phone, slept in for another 30 minutes, then unlocked my phone and it popped up and said install now or install later, clicking on install later asks me for a time that I want to update, with a "start automatically" checkbox which I left unchecked, I set it for 8pm which is 10 hours from now, in that time I need to disable OTA updates and notifications, I already have several root app delete apps, please tell me what to do.
I would like to know to

By the way while Im here, What Method did you use to Root your Note 3 with 4.3? Do you know were I can download the files? Thanks
To disable the notifications when the prompt shows up in.your notification bar, hold the notification for extra menu. Click app info.
Then uncheck show notification.

Here and here to disable OTA.
Hello all
I seem to have a spot of bother, I had two notifications on my device.
I Long Pressed the notification until the screen changes, Giving you a option to Snooze or press the little "i" button.
When you press Snooze, how the hell do you get your notification back?
I use Rotation to force all into Landscape.
I done the Snooze on the apps notification, and i cannot get it to re-appear, I use the notification as a quick toggle to change from Force to Auto
I also done it on ShareKM
and i cannot get neither of them Back.
Even when i go to:
Settings / Sound & Notification / App Notifications
WHen i configure to allow Heads up etc, Still nothing.
Not even after a reboot.
Its obviously not a Snooze button, its more of a Here hide this notification FOREVER!!!
Anyway has anyone got a little more experience with how this works?
I dont want to have to re-flash for the sake of 2 notifications lol

Nope never found a fix. I eventually just re flashed the ROM because I disabled SMS notifications and didn't have a choice. Now I'm being very careful around that button.

Bummer, guess that will be me as well
unsnoozing notifications
I suppose this is too late, but perhaps it can help someone else. I found the option to remove the notification snooze (or filter) under privacy.
Go to settings, privacy, and then filter notifications. You'll need to delete the app in the list. I had to reboot for my changes to take effect.
galaxy s5 non rooted, was on lollipop via kies. got an update ota this morning, around 260mb, thought maybe it was 5.0.1 or something like that fixing a few bugs, installed it now the ring volume stuck on silent, as well as system, notifications, but media volume is working ok? i have rebooted a few times no joy. .... lrx21t.g900fxxu1boa3. any ideas what to do?

Do you have a little star icon on the notifications bar at the top?
Use 2 fingers to slide the top notifications bar down, and change Priority/None to All
t'was it

So I have turned off automatic updates in developer options and I am still seeing am update notification. I would rather not suppress all notifications from Google Play Services. Is there any other way to deal with this?

Stock ROM? If yes, why would you not want to update? If you are stock, rooted and maybe a kernel, there are ways to update quickly and not lose those. If a custom ROM, you may also find help in the ROM specific sub-forum.
I no longer trust Google to do the right thing with these updates. The latest fiasco where they are trying to force the half baked Google assistant down my throat is an example.
I am stock rooted with Elementalx and do my updates once every couple of months manually through flashfire. I don't want the notifications hanging around my status bar for months at a time, and I don't want to completely silence all notifications from Google Play Services.
Finally, prior to the latest update that forced GA on me, thesr notifications were never present. I suspect that Google changed something with the February update. One more reason to wait a while before committing to an update.

I don't blame you on wanting to manually update on your own schedule vs. OTA. I've always updated using full images. At first manually with fastboot, then later with FF. Is your bootloader locked? Thing is I never get update notifications *ever*. I'm stock, rooted, EX Kernel and of course my bootloader will always be unlocked. Maybe that is the difference?
On the other subject, I'm pretty sure GA is here to stay. It's integrated into those two key Google components and get updated on the fly all the time, independent of security updates. Why not just turn off GA in settings and use GN with voice deactivated? It should never bother you there. I use Nova, so the only way I ever see GA it is if I intentionally launch it.
I thought I saw a bunch of old posts about deleting YadaYada.apk from /system/app or priv-app which will remove update notifications. Check to see if you have that apk.

Yeah, That is for the Beta Test nag screen which is annoying too but OP is looking to get rid of the OTA update notification.

Bootloader unloacked, rooted, ElementalX. I used to never get these notifications until I flashed N4F26O a few days ago. This is when it all started.

When you deactivate GA it does NOT relinquish the long press of the home button to its previous functionality. Instead it pops up an annoying message saying "GA is deactivated, do you want to reactivate". If you answer "Yes" GA comes back with a vengeance. If you say "no" then it simply does nothing, and next time you long press the home button the same stupid dialog is back.

Exactly. As stated above this all started after I flashed N4F26O. "Auto updates" are disabled in the developer menu.
Long press the actual notification and you should have the option to block it.

OTA: Since you have manually toggled the auto updates to "off" have you tried wiping cache/dalvik? In the meantime, why not flash N4F26T and give yourself a breather for a month. It's just a security update.
GA: You're just gonna have to let your OCD go and not long-press the home button, dude. Don't tell me you used GN On Tap several times a day and want it back? C'mon. How about re-assigning the long press button? A launcher like Nova may be a solution. Reassign home button long-press used to be in Labs but I don't see it now. You can do a million things with home button short-press. Nova really is the best launcher ever.

True, but he didn't want to block all Google Play Services notifications. I don't ever get OTA notifications so I may be wrong.

Never used GN. I am old school, all I need is the original search app. It is very nice to launch it from anywhere, just by holding long press

I am running Nova, but the reassignment there only works when Nova is active. The home long press works from anywhere. I think there are other apps out there to allow this, GravityBox on Xposed worked well but Xposed seems to be dead.

This blocks ALL notifications from Google Play Services. Don't want that. On occasion GPS asks that I re-login or update, those notifications will be gone too if I block as you suggest. Xposed used to have a really nice module where you could only block specific notifications, but with Xposed seemingly dead for Nougat this is no longer an option.

On my phone that only blocked the notification for OTA updates as far as I know. I still get notifications from Google Play.
