I tried various times this method written below
but always got error while installing harspl after jumpspl
plz explain
JumpSPL & HardSPL Instructions:
1.Transfer the extracted files (JumpSPL.exe & Pharos_JumpSPL.nb) to your device and execute.
2.Use 0x10000000 as Jump Address.
3.After getting the Open File Dialog, press [Camera] & [Power] like you are going to enter Boot Loader, then tab on the Pharos_JumpSPL.nb file (Pharos_JumpSPL.nb).
You will get the grey background screen, you can flash any ROM to your device at this point.
In some case, you may need to unplug and then plug the USB cable again.
4.If you wanted to permanently unlock your device, why not, simply flash it with the HardSPL once and you are done.
After HardSPL, you will notice your SPL version change when boot;
From SPL 1.11.0001
To SPL 1.11Mobiz

you need to flash the original RUU for your country.
Here is a link to the Wiki Herald with official RUU's for you to use: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Herald_Upgrades
Find your RUU, hook your phone up via usb to your computer in "guest" mode on activesync*, get into bootloader by pressing and holding camera button and sticking your stylus into the reset hole. run the exe of the RUU from your PC, follow the prompts, and flash the RUU
*if a profile is found, click delete device profile from file menu in activesync
I get the colorful RUU screen as well. Mine says:
IPL 4.10.0002
SPL 4.70.YANG
When I plug it into the USB active sync wont connect. I don't know how to do anything. Please Help.

I wait some minutes but dont continue.i am desperate
u canot execute enterbootloader.exe. U need 2 enter bootloader manually - hold Camera button and then press reset hole. after U'll see tricolored(or 4) boot scr(with SPL 2.OliNex). now release camera. then use Polaris_CustomRUU.exe by udK (*.nbh must be in same folder)
stuck on bootloader
well as i understand i must put the .nbh file of the rom to the hard-spl folder.and after i must run Polaris_CustomRUU.exe by udK while in bootloader.where i can find this exe?i dont see it in hard spl folder neither in rom folder
magical button on the top ("SEARCH").
U must have either 1. nbh in folder with hardspl - dont forget to delete or rename any nbh in that folder before copying (there must be only one nbh file)
OR
2. in folder with Polaris_customruu.exe by udK
stuck on bootloader
hi again.thanx for your help m8s.it works now.finally i installed my first rom.and my mob is running gr8 again
Another question.every time i need to install a rom i must use hard-spl or Polaris_CustomRUU.exe only?
Thanx
Nope. U can flash how U want. But before flashing better to check on btloader scr if u still see olinex. if not, hard-spl again....
hi guys, a question....
My Polaris is NOBran: until now i'm going on with the original rom but i must do an hard reset and i thought to put a cooked rom based on WM6.1
I did it on tytn but with polaris is the first time.
I'm going to put first HardSpl but when i run my bootloader screen i read:
POLA100
SPL-1.25.0000
CPLD-2
can i run the "Polaris_CustomRUU.exe" in this condition?
EDIT: I DID IT!
Hi All,
I have tried searching for the answer to this question and cannot find it, though I am sure I wont be the first to have had this problem.
I am trying to flash a new rom on my touch HD, have tried two different ones - duttys and black pearl. I have managed to get the upsl to work in the bootloader but i cannot get a rom to boot from the SD card. I have followed the instructions on the pages with the roms (same in each) and all i see is a screen flash up after running uspl saying "no image file" then it goes back to the bootloader screen.
In order to get out of bootloader I have to remove my battery which i assume is normal and then it goes back to the normal spl.
I am pulling my hair out on this one - and I dont have much to pull on!
I didnt think it would be so hard with all of the instructions about!
What want you do?
What stage has you done?
I wanted to load duttys rom using upsl but unfortunately I couldnt get it to work so I used the program that comes with the rom to load it in without using bootloader.
I had to load on Olinex to make it work
I had a similar thing the other day when I was having a blonde moment. Renamed the image file BLACIMG.nbh, instead of just BLACIMG......so the actual file name when I looked in to it was actually sitting as BLACIMG.nbh.nbh
Once I'd deleted the .nbh extension out of the file name I renamed it worked.

Did you remove storage card before entering Bootloader screen? Put storage card in after Bootloader is up and before opening USPL.
USPL HowTo
Sorry to ask again.
I had the same problems.
As I couldn't do with USPL (just did not find reasonable step-by-step instructions), I used OliNex HardSPL which worked fine.
But now with new ROM updates, I face significant problems with display color and radio not working.
So, I actually definitely need and would like to ask somebody to take the time to post ...
step-by-step instructions on how to use USPL
PLEASE !
USPL HowTo
Obviously, I just missed out one point and needed to change another.
But for those in the same situation:
Probably only works on Windows XP, didn't work on my Vista PC.
(1) Download the latest USPL (currently 2.5)
(2) extract anywhere on your computer
(3) Go to ActiveSync properties and disable "Allow USB Connections" option
(4) Turn off your device (long press "Power" key or remove/replace battery)
(5) then enter SPL bootloader mode (tri-color)
- Blackstone: when device turned off by pressing and holding "VolDown" key plus "Soft Reset" simultaneously
- did NOT work for me: by pressing and holding "Power" and "VolDown" keys simultaneously.
(6) Connect USB cable and make sure "USB" label appeared in the white portion of the screen on your device.
(7) start / run "cmd" (DOS console) on your desktop PC
(8) Execute blac_uspl.exe in DOS window
current status and any error messages USPL encounters will be displayed in the console window.
(9) If everything goes well, your device will restart and SPL version label should read "1.15.USPL" indicating that USPL was loaded successfully.
You ever read through the USPL thread?

10. How to use it?
Download the latest USPL attached to the second post of this thread and extract anywhere on your computer.
Go to ActiveSync properties and disable "Allow USB Connections" option. Turn off your device (long press "Power" key or remove/replace battery), then enter SPL bootloader mode (tri-color) by pressing and holding "Power" and "VolDown" keys simultaneously.
Connect USB cable and make sure "USB" label appeared in the white portion of the screen on your device.
Execute blac_uspl.exe; current status and any error messages USPL encounters will be displayed in the console window.
If everything goes well, your device will restart and SPL version label should read "1.14.USPL" indicating that USPL was loaded successfully.
If SPL version does not include "USPL" or if the screen is black, soft reset and try again. If "USB" label disappeared and did not reappear, reinsert USB cable.
You can then start RUU update to flash RUU_signed.nbh. Once RUU update is completed, device will restart using regular flashed SPL.
If you want to flash from SD card instead, make sure your SD card is not inserted when you enter the bootloader originally.
SPL will try to install it and would fail if blacimg.nbh is not signed by HTC. Insert the card after "USB" label comes up in SPL but before running USPL.
You can run "blac_uspl.exe ?" to get command line parameter help. Only 1 parameter is accepted and that is the name of an SPL file you want to load. You can load an MFG SPL or HSPL. USPL automatically takes care of allowing unsigned/cooked ROM flashing with any SPL you use.

Should be just clear, isn't it? Have used it a few times, without any problems ...
No, it probably wasn't clear enough.
At least it didn't work for me.
see the changes I applied above (plus minor additions)
remove the memroy card!
the first time i tried the upgrade, it failed... because my memory card was inside the phone. worse, the mem card contains the rom upgrade file.
pls remove the memory card first.. then run the ruu update.
after which, it will state that rom is 1.15.
then can insert memory card (only if u see the USB word on your phone)
then can re-run program.. and update firmware..
I have experienced this problem where no image file was found when flashing from UPSL. I think this is some kind of random **** that happens. I have flashed countless ROM with this method and sometimes this **** just happens without any reason.
hi, how come my tri-color bootloader only shown "Serial" in the white portion of the screen? Is there something wrong with my HTC HD phone? I try to reflash the ROM thru this way since ActiveSync cannot detect my HD. My HD phone only shown battery charging whenever I plugged in the mini-USB cable into the computer.
Anyone can enlighten my issues? Thank you in advance!
I met the same issue, and I solved it by re-formatting the card using FAT32.
MOD EDIT
I'm closing this thread as dummies guide, USPL & HSPL threads already exist.
If your having still having difficulties post your query into relevant thread. I'd suggest you start with dummies flashing guide thread.

Hi, i was going to upgrade to ArtemisV9 from Artemis v8. Had some stability problems with v8 so I thought making task 28 with MTTY. When I tried to flash artemis from the bootloader after that , the bar stayed at 0% so I had to cancel. Have tried flashing both via USB and from the storage card, but the progress bar never goes past 0%. When I start the phone it is stuck with the picture with hTc. Please help
task 28 or 29?
as far as i know task 29 also removes the radio. try flashing a radio rom first and after flash the rom.

Thanks, but i have tried to flash the radio again but i will not work. I meant task 29. When I try to flash radio/rom the black screen with hTc and progresbar appears but i will not start. When I start the telephone the wihite screen with green hTc stucks, if I press vol down and reset the bootloader starts. Active sync can´t connect with the telephone, is this necesarry if you flash from bootloader?
it's neccessary full stop! there's your issue. This is how I flash the HD2:
1. Task29 & radio
2. Boot into bootloader
3. flash ROM once it says 'USB'
4. boot first time
5. hard reset
6. set phone up
All works fine

I renamed the radio to LEOIMG.nbh and put it on my storage card, tried mtty again and then tried to enter bootloader, a white screen with Loading appears but gets stuck. I tried to renamed artemis to LEOIMG.nbh with the same result. If I tries to flash with USB, the black screen with progressbar appears and gets stuck at 0%. I have tried to flash stock rom with same result both with the exe file and I tried to extreact the nbh file and placed it on the storage card. Any suggestions how to get my phone to work.
Please
No one that have any suggestions? Is it possible that I have crashed the phone and that its not possibly to get any rom to work? I have Hspl so the warranty is gone.
with phone in bootloader mode.
what spl does it show exactly?
when you connect the usb cable, the word serial changes to usb, correct?
is your phone provider locked, and if so do you have the correct provider stock rom available?
do you have file extensions visible on your pc? (it isn't unknown for people to rename the nbh to "leoimg.nbh.nbh" by mistake.)
when it sticks on the white screen are there any numbers at the bottom of the screen?

Thank you, Im realy desperate.
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
Yes when Iconnect the serial changes to usb.
No it´s not provider locked
No, the filename is LEOIMG.nbh (if I take away .nbh it only says file and nothing happens from bootloader)
Now I renamed Artemis v9 to LEOIMG.nbh started the bootloader. A White screen with blue text Loading ... nothing more
ok, so you have spl 2.08.0000 which isn't hspl so the cooked roms don't work. . . and spl 2.08 won't let itself be downgraded by stock rom flash so they won't work.
connect to usb in bootloader
run hspl2
choose 2.08.hspl NOT 2.08.0000 in the list.
return to bootloader mode
should now say spl 2.08.hspl
flash your rom over usb
if it doesn't boot check radio

Thank you for taking time. You realy saved my day. Now I feel like a complete idiot. Thanks again.
no worries. you can sit back and breathe again now.
USPL does not make any permanent changes to your device. It operates from volatile memory (RAM) and once the device is power-cycled, no traces of USPL remain there. As long as there's a valid SPL flashed and starting up, you can run USPL to help you solve many other troubles.
Therefore USPL itself is safe and can NOT damage your device. You CAN... USPL is not foolproof; inrepairable damage can be caused through incorrect use of USPL, so be cautious.
Unless you know what you are doing, NEVER:
- flash an unsigned/cooked ROM/SPL/Radio/Splash/etc... that wasn't tested by someone else;
- issue SPL commands known to be dangerous or if their purpose is unclear or unknown;
- upgrade/downgrade SPL using USPL.
Again, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
USPL is highly experimental. It is alpha software, and it will remain such forever. This is version 2.x of USPL for HTC Blackstone (HTC Touch HD) only. Please don't try it with any other devices! It will not cause damage, but it won't work either.
SPL comes as a single Windows executable - blac_uspl.exe. blac_uspl.exe is a console application developed and primarily tested on Windows XP. As of version 2.2 USPL should work in Windows Vista as long as RUU does; if you are still having problems with USPL under Windows Vista, consider downgrading HTC Sync drivers as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723. Sorry Linux lovers, no version for you You may be able to run it from Wine, but I didn't try.
By default Blackstone USPL loads SPL 1.14 (or SPL 1.15 starting from version 2.4) patched to allow flashing of unsigned/cooked .nbh files. You can specify a different SPL (for example HardSPL or MFG SPL) to be loaded instead via command line.
New:
cRaCKwHoRe developed a GUI for USPL for those not familiar with command line, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508361 It makes USPL a better experience, check it out!
11. Limitations
USPL relies heavily on multiple bugs specific to certain SPL versions, so it will only work on devices running **SUPPORTED** SPL versions.
The following Blackstone SPL versions are currently supported by the latest USPL version:
SPL 1.13
SPL 1.14
SPL 1.15 (TELSTRA)
SPL 1.19
SPL 1.54
If you run it on a device with unsupported SPL, an appropriate error message will be displayed and USPL will not run.
If you have a device with unsupported SPL version and you want to add support for it, please PM me to discuss.
blac_uspl.exe may not work in Windows Vista, unless HTC Sync drivers are downgraded. The ultimate solution to this problem is to use WinUSB instead of HTC Sync, this enhancement is not planned at this time though.
