Odd. AT&T wasn't supposed to be getting the dropbox bonus.

i think it's cuz he's using a Rogers-based ROM. now, i wonder WHAT in the Rogers ROM triggers dropbox to give the space? hmm..

Now flash a T-Mo based rom and get another 48GB, lol.

I don't think its just the ROM I think you also need to be connected to the specific network when you log into dropbox. I am with Telus and when I first setup my phone my data wasn't working so I was using WiFi and I did not get my dropbox space. When I got my data working and signed onto dropbox with my data I got an email right away that the space had been added to my account.

that could make sense, but it appears that the OP is on AT&T here in the states.

Funny since I got it but on stock. Weird!

Is the build pro as far as I understand since people have gotten it on HTC devices (you can always had bought unlock gs3 and that one has it) so when flash a rom it changed the build pro too most likely (are you having any problems with us market?) I also got mine as soon as activated, tmobile tho Idk what I'm going to use it for lol

correct

actually, after some research i think it may be APK related, as in the APK that came with the SGS3 (where it was enabled) enabled it on the site. a lot of other non-SGS3 users are doing this by taking the SGS3 APK and installing it on their phone and they get the space. mixed results on keeping it though.

now the question is, was the dropbox already pre-installed on the ROM you had?
p.s. i like your avatar.

I got mine on stock though, not rooted or on a ROM. This is the only S3 I have used.

That sounds entirely possible. I didn't get the space so I'm on the lookout for the int. S3 drop box apk. Shouldn't be too hard to find

Yea i'm not sure, it was an update rom from a AT&T version to the Rogers version, and then i Tb'ed back all my apps on top of that. Oh well, to be honest I wont even use 1gb of space so if i loose it i wont be sad.
Thanks on the avatar, I used to have an 01GSR

I think the Rogers might have had the SGS3 dropbox apk included. im just glad to get it since AT&T deprived us of what every other SGS3 owner was getting free
i had a '99 GSR with bolt-ons and ITR cams / tuned around 170 WHP... it got stolen several years ago so I got an '04 WRX and added the usuals + a VF39, brembos and a nice tune to 290 WHP / 274 ft-lbs =D

I just got it as well I am on AT&T.

I was freaked out by the android is upgrading dialog that came up after the app switch (which makes dropbox a system app) to get the 48GB on AT&T. everything seems ok now anyway.

i had almost 80 gig's before i got my GS3. Then when i signed in on my new phone it cut me down to 30 gig's. not sure what happened but i want what i had back! HAHA not like i would ever use it all.

Hulu on Vibrant (Froyo)

It's been a while since I've seen a definitive thread on Hulu and galaxy s.
Here's a good thread from the fascinate with clockworkmod zip and a .apk install. Works just fine on the Vibrant, sometimes you have to close the background process of the hulu app.
Hulu streams quite smoothly on the vibrant too!

What he means is data throttle. All the wonderful sim-lock carriers in the US is capped at 5gb of data. If you exceed 5gb, then you'll be throttled slower than dialup. Technically its unlimited, but throttled.

What I don't get is it is in Hulu's best interests to have Huly playing (their free version) on any and every mobile device out there. Its the market foot print for their advertising. Their marketing dept needs to go back to school!

Oh yeah I forgot about that... that is pretty dumb. 5GB in one month is a lot of usage though. I've never even come close to that, but that's not to say I wouldn't with Hulu. Giving it a try though.

It's the networks (crying about DRM) who are holding it up, not Hulu.
Hulu did announce last month official support for Android is coming soon.
Hulu's marketing team understands that just fine. The people who don't are the old school content companies that own it(Comcast/NBC, Disney/ABC, News Corp, etc.). They still think that by locking down their content, it will force people to keep paying out the arse for it, rather than just pushing more people away.
Wait so is hulu free for vibrant?

Thier up-coming free android app will be (i assume) for their Hulu+ line up. Which is their paid $7.99/mo service. I will also assume that Hule has no desire to reslease their free website for the Android browser to watch shows, because they see Google TV as a competitor not a platform. Yet, I built my windows box hooked to my hi-def TV and can watch streaming Hulu content all day long through my windows box (i cut my cable about a year ago). Microsoft is not pay Hulu one nickle, but Google TV (android) is seen as a competitor!
To answer you question, NO - Hulu is not free on your android device, unless you can find a hack to watch it.

Mastercard ONLY
I would REALLY like to use it and in fact was looking forward to doing just that until I found out you can only use Mastercard with the stupid thing? I mean wtf, I don't want to have to use my MC to purchase crap, who does this, unless you're trying to get cash back or freq-flier miles? The pre-paid card from what I understand is bogus too? Why would I go to the trouble of funding a " virtual" credit card with money from my Mastercard so I can use my phone at McD's?
Now, if there was a way I could somehow fund all my purchases with my debt card? THATS what I was hoping to be able to do? I would think there'd be a way to do that but out of all I've read so far, nothing sounds promising? Does somebody know of a way around the Mastercard limitation?

and was really disapointed in the Loyalty card selection as well.. no grocery stores or drug stores or any other useful ones.
Yea I would have thought this would have really expanded fast, not at the snails-pace that it seems. I mean wallet has been around for a long time, at least a lot of my e-purchases are recognised as "wallet" transactions

I used mine at McDonalds today, they were like "whoa, wtf? That's awesome!" They had never seen it before. Pretty simple though, once your card is setup, you wait till the point where you would swipe your card, tap the phone to the NFC reader, it'll prompt you for your pin, and then you tap it to the reader one more time, and voila!

I'm in no rush, though, as there's still so very few places to use it (even in NYC), and I'm not about to putz around getting a rooted version working and risk getting it banned for life or whatever. This crap "should just work", but it doesn't.
(and I even have the damn citibank MC card that everyone complains you need to use, and I still don't care. (It was also lame that Citibank renamed their diamond preferred MC to the boring "ThankYou Points" Mastercard a few months back)

It's only a "flop" because the banks and carriers have all decided to create their own competing systems, not Google's fault they think we'll pay extra for NFC payments

FM Radio in the Note 4

T-mobile is locking down the FM radio tuner in our Note 4.
It is built in to all models but the carriers choose to restrict the chip. It's very popular in other countries and they refuse to explain why they won't let consumers access the feature and pretend like it doesn't exist for our phones.
The Sprint version can use the Nextradio App to use the FM tuner because Sprint has a deal with the app makers for an ad revenue cut.
T-mobile pretends to be the UNcarrier and I switched to them from Verizon for that reason but it seems that they're just as bad as Verizon with painfully slow updates and locked down features.
There is already a campaign to contact the carriers and convince them to unlock the feature http://freeradioonmyphone.org/.
Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? I would threaten to switch to Sprint but that's an empty threat because everyone knows their service is hot garbage.
Would be great if there was a softmod solution for root users but I don't think this is possible....
I would also like to see this feature active on my n4.

I tweeted
@JohnLegere @Tmobile John why can't we have FM radio. Tmobile claims Music Freedom but Sprint wins this round.
Maybe everyone who wants this feature should do the same.
Although it sounds like a great idea, I'm wondering if they would have to resubmit for FCC certification to enable it. If that's the case, it's NOT going to happen.
I dont think radio is locked, it probably doesn't exist in Tmo Note 4. Sprint version most likely using different modem which has fm capability.

I have no idea if maybe the Tmobile, AT&T, and Verizon versions don't have it but I really don't think this is the case although it is possible that it is physically disabled.
As far as FCC re-certification I wouldn't be surprised if the FCC was willing to give a pass...

I miss this feature that once graced my old HTC devices.
If you are truly unhappy with T-Mobile then switch. No one is stopping you. The whole thing about updates being slow is taken out of context because, for one, you act as if everyone has Lollipop already which is untrue. And two, I can count many other times where T-Mobile was in fact first to the punch and some times where they actually skipped an update because a newer one quickly came out. Going from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 and skipping 4.4.3 for example. Do not completely discredit the carrier because of one minor misstep or because some feature we really don't know why isn't on our phones. There's plenty of online radio apps out there and iheart radio has many local stations.

It was okay at first, but the fact that you needed headphones plugged in (i guess to act as an antenna?) ruined it for me.

People in poor signal areas might not be able to use iheart. For example my coverage in my local park is bad, or was last year anyway, waiting for nice weather to go back, and if I enjoyed FM radio then having the ability to use my phone to do so would be nice without having to hope I have a data signal.

If loading your phone up with some MP3s somehow isn't good enough then for less than $10, and in some cases $5, you can get a portable FM radio that is smaller than your phone if you absolutely feel you need it.

I'm not about to give kudos to a carrier for updating a phone. Especially not a phone that hasn't even been out a year. Add to the fact that Samsung does all the heavy lifting as far as developing their updates. I will fault a carrier for disabling features built into my phone for the sole purpose of pushing some other agenda. Knowing the reason is moot if the reason has nothing to do with lowering the quality of the product.

I guess my question is why does someone need to justify to anyone why they would want this feature? Further more an MP3 isn't exactly a replacement for news and talk shows.
IF it's built into the phone its kind of shady to disable it.

Who says you need a fanny pack? Less than $6 AND has a Micro SD slot... What more could you want?

Again, no one knows why exactly it is not on our phones and that Sprint is the only one. Furthermore it is NOT a feature that is on be default, it must be 'Activated'... Until recently no one even knew that the phone had it. Also, most news and talk shows are on AM radio.
Yay the "there is no view but mine" part of XDA has come out...*clap clap clap*
I don't care one way or the other about the FM radio, I just think you demanding people do things your way as it must be the "right" way is arrogant.

I'm not demanding anything. I'm simply stating that there is an alternative... And the fact that this alternative is so cheap and simple begs the question why it's even an issue at all. If not activating an FM radio in your phone is enough to make you consider another carrier then why get that phone in the first place knowing that it wasn't there to begin with? You guys are basically complaining simply because you can and the fact that I can bother you so much by solving your issue with a simple answer proves how dumbfounded the issue really is.
My question still stands why should anyone have to justify their preference to want to use the FM feature on the phone if it has it? I see this right in line with disabling different NFC payment options, or how Apple wouldn't allow the Kindle app to purchase books just to make it more difficult and thus push users to their ecosystem.
I pay for my device. It will be paid in full in two months, its mine. Whether or not I will use a portion of it should be no concern of T-Mobile. I don't use the UV sensor, it's still there.
Saying T-Mobile is just as bad as Verizon with slow updates and locked down services is just crazy. When's the last time you bought a non Nexus device on Verizon that had an unlocked bootloader? Now when's the last time you bought a device on T-Mobile that had a locked bootloader? Don't think I really need to say much more.
This is the main reason why people buy the international version, these US carriers always disable stuff on their phones, Sprint AT&T Verizon all disable download Booster from their note 4 and s5 I didn't get an international version of this phone but I definitely see why somebody would
Fact: The Note 4 HAS an FM radio reciever. http://shop.sprint.com/mysprint/shop/phone_details.jsp?ensembleId=SPHG900BKS&flow=AAL&isDeeplinked=true&INTNAV=GalaxyS5LP:ShopNow:041114
Fact: T-mobile has chosen not to activate the software to communicate with the FM chipset.
Fact: International Models do not have it activated either. Meaning Samsung does NOT, by default, use the software.
Hope: The Lollipop update that is finally now in T-Mobile's hands might have it.
Hope: If Not, maybe it will be possible in AOSP roms i.e. CyanogenMod.

K9 3G in da house!

Just got this in over lunch. On charge now and will insert SIM before heading back to the office. It looks and feels solid, heavier than my A10 (to be expected since it's all resin) and lighter than my Polar V800. I'll be taking it through more objective analysis tonight, but for now I'll be getting a feel for it on my wrist in the latter half of the work day.

On it - as soon as I get it back home tonight (west coast time).
Totally aside, this is a really nice slick-and-quick device. I don't have a SIM that will fit it (yet) but will pick one up this afternoon before heading home.
I think is the same watch than K8 mini and D5 but with another body and 2 buttons... What would you say?

Dunno. I've not been paying that much attention. I'll look and see - but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they were substantially similar. I bought this one because it supported the US bands, and when I slapped a T-mobile SIM in it I received two messages right out of the gate (confirming the SIM change from the carrier). So I'm pretty impressed so far.

I just realized that my current laptop doesn't have any Android tools set up on it. I'm going to say hello to a friend that just flew in from overseas - and if I'm still wound up (probably so) I'll do the tooling work and see about getting what you need tonight. Otherwise I'll be early tomorrow (again, west coast time).
I buy it. But i can't download the companion app. The page is not found
have you the same problem?
Yep, exactly the same internals - memory, cpu etc etc.
With any luck you could share the stock readback from this watch before you root it?
You can use SP Tools to pull the backup from the watch.
Once we have the scatter file you may even be able to use the custom recovery from our watches
If the launcher is the same or similar - you will be able to use all the watch faces from the thread created for the D5, K8, K18, X1 and K8 Mini

Yes. The URLs for the internal (non Google Play) app store seem to be dead, too. I can't believe that it's *that* new of a watch that the related URLs aren't active yet. Either way I suppose we'll know once folks are back from the CNY holiday.

The companion app link bounces back and forth between working and not. I attached my copy of the apk.
Outstanding! Thanks! I guess I had bad luck hitting the URL when it was up. It's nice at minimum to have a means to uninstall apps on the device.

K9 firmware (SPTools)
To flash TWRP instead of stock, rename recovery.img to recovery.img.bak, then rename TWRPrevocery.img to recovery.img and flash.
I updated my other post with the latest version of the companion app. The newer version allows for notifications from every app on your phone.

Does this ROM have the same visuals/features/apps of the K8/K8 mini or it has something different?

Added some new faces
Change the app icons and notification drawer background
Different device name in build.prop
Newer build date
The newer build date means nothing really as the ODM would make a new build just to add the changes above. So D5/Mini firmware.
Nice to see a new addition to the family
