Third party Q like device. - Nexus Q Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So do you think third parties like Asus and Samsung will make there own devices like the Q running the same OS and with the same feature for like 200 to 250 dollars less then the Q?
I figure that was more Googles plan with this device as well as to get it out to the software devs, then for it to be a high end consumer device.

I am in the processes if doing this.

Different Android Markets

Question:
Why do I see apps like SiriusXM and Sonos in the Market from my phone, but not the Market from my XOOM. I must be missing something really basic. Is there a process to move apps from an android phone device to an android Tablet device.
Please educate me!

It has to do with the devices Finger Print. Certain apps are designed for specific phones/devices and the developers can limit what devices can get it.
Gotta love it. Thx!

Nexus 4 port?

Anyone know if there is one?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I don't know if there is one, but it would be nice if there was a port.

there is only the x86 based sdk which you can download and start develop from sailfishos.org . good luck.
I am more of a electronic person than a software/programmer I know a bit but not enough. I can look into though.

AW: Nexus 4 port?
There are no ports or images for any devices. There's only one image for the Nokia N950 that you can build yourself from meet source in theory. But afaik you can't get the Jolla UI. You could try to build mer with nemo mobile for a nexus device. That sounds doable to me.

NEXUS 4 is great idea

Jolla is a group consisting of mostly ex-Nokia employees. Considering that, if their culture is anything like Nokia, they are more worried about selling hardware. MeeGo/Maemo was open sourced out of their control. I will be interested to see if we ever see their proprietary UI open sourced. The good news is that as was pointed out, all Sailfish apps will be able to run on MeeGo/Maemo derivatives like Mer.
MAYBE only MAYBE i will port it for GT-i9000 and someone can port it for nexus ... Only MAYBE when i got no exams and so on .. Dont make any hopes it is only mabe

Jolla acctually demostrated a Nexus 7 with Sailfish ported during the conference in China, doesn't function 100% well. But you can at least see the possiblity.

They are hardware guys without hardware. I don't think they have ANY hardware partners yet. I have only seen it running on old Nokia hardware, which I guess says something for its speed.
They love showing off that ambiance thing, but you can do the same effect with CSS and JavaScript on a web page, so I question if what they are showing is not just a trick, or if it is REALLY the OS, because the SDK has NONE of the interface they keep showing off.

So their own device doesn't count?
Wanted to post new youtube videos, but as I don't have 10 posts I can't. Open youtube and search for: Jolla Launches First Sailfish OS Smartphone - Hands-On Demo
You can preorder the device already: jolla.com

Double tap to unlock idea is worthless in my opinion. But I'd love to see that OS in Nexus devices.

You can get double tap to unlock with the PGM app. Though that's for specific devices. Trust me, double tap to unlock is awesome!

App Developer Request

Hi all! I'm looking for an app developer who would be interested in either teaching me to make or potentially splitting profits on a music app managing tool for Android. Something that runs as an app itself and offers an additional level of features to any/all supported music apps on a given device.
I currently have a personal interest and goal for the app, and it may evolve and develop from there.
Please respond to this thread if you are interested in this possibility, and provide examples of your work if possible.

Trying to Decide

I'm trying to decide between getting the Pebble, i'm Watch, Agent, or Kreyos Meteor. Which of these do you personally like the best?
Wait for the samsung gear? Should be announced September 4th.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Kreyeos Meteor smart watch looks like the best option right now.
They're all good for certain purposes. I personally backed the Kreyos because it was waterproof and has a speaker + mic.
What's the key decision criteria one should be looking for when evaluating these watches?

Your needs/wants, and whether the watch fulfills them.
I guess what I'd want in a watch...

A few features I'd like to see:
- A virtual security tether to let me know when I'm walking away or forgetting a phone / tablet and to bypass lockscreens
- reminders and basics that I don't even need to open my phone for
- profile management to advise my of locations and what my wifi devices are doing (what Android profiles they are on)
- health and fitness.... not so much but ok I get that this would be the best device to record my movement or how much I'm stuffing my face at meals...

Sailfish on BlackBerry 10/QNX devices

Probably it is not feasible due BlackBerry security, but otherwise it would be amazing to have an updated sailfish os where it will be soon an outdated QNX/bb10 os.
Being sailfish and QNX unix flavours I suppose the hardware and drivers should be quite compatible. And a huge amount of users and devices could be a target for sailfish.
Am I right?
:good:
Yeah , I wonder that sailfish ui is something like BlackBerry 10 os .
Second, it is impossible to run sailfish on BlackBerry 10 devices.
Your dream is .........worst.

Everything is impossible until it became possible
I can only find two reason, too hard to hack, few technical people interested.

About hacking BlackBerry 10 are you kidding, there is no source code etc. For BlackBerry 10 device ,I am also using BlackBerry 10 , it is best for security, only disadvantage of this os is that lack of app development, so it run android app ,which is a cone of this os.
Sent from my Moto G 2014 using XDA-Developers mobile app
The problem of relying on the android runtime is those apps, which are using google maps/services not seemless in bb10, requiring patching and this type of things
