After I take a picture and try to send it via messaging, it says "Picture too large. Compressing..." then "Unable to attach. File not supported". Rooted stock rom.
Any suggestions?
use another messaging program something like handcent
Me too
I have the same problem. Verizon GSIII, not rooted. If I take a photo at a low resolution, like 1280x720, the photo will attach as expected. 8MP photos, however, will not attach. I get the same "File too large. Compressing..." followed by "Unable to attach. File not supported" messages. This happens whether I try to attach something from the gallery or choose to attach a new photo from within the "Messaging" app, if my camera was previously set to take 8MP photos.

I've loaded some photos onto specific contacts so they show up in the TouchFlo People tab as speed dial links. The photos look crap when they're shown in the flickable list. I've tried all resolutions (from large to small). One photo looks fine (no idea why) but others look like really heavily compressed jpegs.
Photo slides in the Photos tab look just as bad. The original ones loaded onto the machine looked fine but whatever resolution I try for my own images they look heavily compressed and pixellated. They're all jpegs, just like the originals.
Can anybody help please?
Just recently got the HD Touch myself coming off of the Pro Dual and yea, had the same "issue". Basically had to re-do my photos for contacts; ended up doing 500x500 saved as pngs...
Hope that helps!
Thanks for that. I'll try making some pngs and see if it helps.
Well png images for the People tab has certainly improved things. Thank you for that tip. They also look great in the Photos tab. I guess TouchFlo doesn't know how to optimise png images.
But what about the 'Photos' tab? My albums are full of jpegs and I don't want to have to reproduce them as pngs just for the bloody TouchFlo screen. Why do the original photos look so much better?
There are people in this forum complaining about the sharpness of the TouchFlo background image, but am I the only one whinging about these album pics? Grrr...
Try using photo album, then choose the photo and assign to contact.
i used the people tab and from there added the people and then choose menu --> change picture. looks a lot better and no resizing pictures needed.

I've tried all ways and the png method is the only thing that made a difference.
I had the same prob....You need to add the photo from the people tab using the menu button, they look fine if you do it this way.
I found the way that gave the best quality by far was to add them via the Favourite People tab as a 256 x 256 JPG. A bit of a pain in the arse to do but at least you only have to do it once.

calvin55 is right - I had the same problem and then moved good pictures into "My Pictures" folder and then from the photo album used the "assign to contact" option.
Big improvement !
OK, I've taken a photo of the screen to show you what I mean about the poor quality images in the Photo tab. Hopefully it's clear what's wrong with the preview image...
I confirm that the album method works fine and fix this problem.
Create thumbnails of your choice and move them all to My Pictures folder.
Then open Album, choose an image, and 'Save To Contact'. works great.
Can I remind all people to read the tips & tricks part of the wiki
It already has the solution to your problem amongst other tips/tweaks you may all like
Hi Res Contact Photos
Assign contact photos on your SD card directly to specific contacts for hi-res thumbnails. If you assign contact photos in Outlook and then sync, the contact photos on your phone will be low-res.
All contact photos should be saved to My Pictures folder on your Storage card
Normally, People will go to
>>menu>>change picture>>name.jpeg
But that will give u low resolution.
Try using this method, it eliminates the trouble to resize or change format.
>>file explorer>>[open pic file]>>menu>>save to contact>>select a contact
and this will solve your problem

hi,
don't know if it;s me BUT I can't view photos I've copied to my docs/my pictures or directly from storage card through programs/file explorer; I get 'not from a trusted source' type messages. The photos in the camera icon in main menu are fine and viewable but surely we can view photos from file explorer?!
This is such a great phone - I can't think this problem is with the phone.,,. derr, thanks in advance for help!
Can you provide more details? What program and which version of the program are you having problem viewing the pictures? Were the pictures that you try to view taken with the HD camera?
Hello all, I'll try to describe this as best as possible...
When i go to Twitter tab for example, then click to update status, then upload picture..
It brings me to the "My Pictures" folder and says "No Photos or Videos found". Not a problem, since they're all on my Storage card.
However, it seems like the soft-keys are missing that would normally let me go up a level or see all of my albums, meaning im stuck in this folder and cannot upload any pictures.
The same happens when trying to add a photo in MMS; it will show my photos I took with the phone camera, but the left and right soft keys with options to pick from a different album are missing.
I have:
Album v3.2.20132625.0 (Looking for a new version which has FB tab too...)
Folder View v1.0.19173424.0
HTCMessaging_Client_1_8_20183325_00
Manila_Photo_TEST_2_5_20182114_0
Manila Twitter v2.5.20161326.0
Picture_Enhancement_1_50_20161232_00
The package responsible for that is Media_Tool_kit_1_2_XXXXXX
Make sure HTCPhotoPicker.exe.0409.mui is included or if you use another language HTCPhotoPicker.exe.04XX.mui ...
I received a like new device from ATT, that one was dead on arrival. I then requested a new one, and this one can not receive/send pictures correctly. Persay I download an image and wish to attach it in an MMS through the default messaging, it prompts me with the error of "Unsupported Media Type - Select different media". This is for everything from JPEG, JPG, PNG, and videos too. This only affects downloaded images, I can send images I took with my phone's camera. If someone sends me an image too, I receive what seems to be the stock error image. I can yet save these images, and the image is there in my gallery's thumbnail, but it is still the error image on the larger version, or when I click on it.
Could someone assist me with this problem? I truly don't want to send off another S4 to ATT. I reformatted the phone, and reformatted my SD card too.

I've been having this issue too. Even after the KitKat update. I've found that if I open the image, "edit" it by just cropping to the same size (or really close) and then save it, it will send without issue. Pain in the butt, but at least it will send.
Same Issue
Same issue here, and same "solution" as above... anyone got a fix for this?? The "solution" works for pics... but still can't send MMS video without completely re-encoding with another app
Does anyone else see issues with some of the images taken with the Nexus 6P camera show up in the Photos app as a gray thumbnail, and when opening you get a message saying "couldn't load image"? I have taken about 50 photos so far, and at least 3 images were corrupted.
I haven't tried offloading the images and looking at them on another device (or even with a file manager app), yet.

return it. you seem to have corrupted memory.
I am trying to replicate the issue and get another corrupted photo, but haven't had any "luck" yet.
