So I'm confused how the matr1x kernel works. I used Franco kernel for about one month and used his app to adjust settings. However with matr1x kernel are the best settings already set? If not, is there a way to adjust these settings?

I'll try to answer your questions. Yes, the best settings for the kernel are probably already set. To change them, you can use any CPU control app. Some ROMs even have a section in Settings for that.

yesterday i brought new nexus 4 after trading my galaxy s3
i rooted my nexus installed recovery
flashed franko kernel
and installed paranoid rom
now the phone heats up too much even on normal whatsapp chatting
i tried to underclock it from setcpu but still heating is there
later i thought may b my phone doesnt handle paranoid or franco kernal
then i flashed modaco rom
but unfortunately swipe to wake doesnt work
i have still not tested the heating problem
can anyone guide me on setcpu setting or which rom / kernal to try
i am more interested in swipe to wake function
I have similar issues with a lot of Franco releases, some apps like fun run make the phone super hot. I use Motleys kernel, overall way snappier, and battery life is just as good. It's in android original development. As far as rom I use cm10 kang one by trailblazers that's built from linaro tool chain with bionic commits, it is faster than stock cm10 for sure. Try it, both kernel and ROM are built on linaro, good combo.

I know that it did, a lot of odd issues have been happening, so he took it out I'm pretty sure it is back in though. If not, I know matrix kernel has it.

Hello everyone,
I am searching for an app, that allows me to switch off CPU cores of my Nexus and do decide how much min core and how much max cores will work. I can't find such settings in SetCPU.
Does anybody know such an app?
Use trickstermod.

You will need trickster mod, aswell as a custom kernel with a configuarable hotplug system or eco mode.
I would recommend Franco Kernel Updater app along with franco kernel itself.
You can tweak how many cores come online when you touch the screen , max and min frequencies , screen color adjustments (Recommended values from obsanity is amazing!) , everything you would ever think of to tweak in a kernel manually , is scripted in this app.
It's highly recommended , you wouldn't be disappointed with it.

Thank you guys! I will give franco kernel a try, with the corresponding app. Because I want to try undervolting as well.
The nightly r183 seems to be the latest for 4.3 (I am running the Stock ROM). Does it have any discovered bugs?
If you want to make your device for example 2 cores on only franco kernel won't work you will need a kernel like: neo, matr1x or faux and use trickster mod (or for faux you can use faux enhancement project) apps and go in hotplug settings

Just came to the nexus 5 from my nexus s , before their used to be something called NSTOOLS for nexus s kernel stuff so i was wondering whats an equivalent tool i can use (preferablly for free =))
Currently running franco kernel r 19
trickster mod.
but if you like the kernel you use, you should support them and buy their app as it guarantees 100% success with the kernel tweak app whereas a universal app like trickster will not absolutely work with that kernel.
None, usually content with default settings...
I use the trickster app! It works great
Kcontrol is pretty nice. I also did like trickster mod when I used it on the s3 and s4

Gnex was all trickster all day.
Now I like kcontrol. Allows you set set governor / frequencies per core. So you could overclock core0+1 and underclock core2+3. And make 0+1 ondemand and 2+3 interactive.
I mean if you wanted to. I leave settings stock.I just like having the option. Plus show-p is a wonderful developer and I get better battery life than stock Google kernel on his without any performance loss.

I built my own. Everything seemed to be matched up to certain kernels so I made SKU Kernel to work in pretty much every situation. So far, it has.

I have Franco and trickster. This is mainly due to the fact that I would trickster more but use Franco's kernel and would like to support him

Hi I've just tried cm11 but it's so slow on my phone .can anyone recommend a great kernel.
Also I've had bad color problems.Even multiple wipes did not solve it.It's on now but I'm looking for a good kernel as I'm not happy with the stock.Thx.

You can try a different ROM that includes adjustable colour settings.
The Nexus Experience ROMs are quite nice.
