Updating Samsung Focus Flash i677 to Tango with Windowbreak! - Focus General

I have followed the next steps to update my Focus Flash i677 to get Tango and preserve the Windowbreak state:
First that all my Focus Flash had the 7712 Mango version already installed and I used this easy tutorial to get Windowbreak:
http://windowsphonehacker.com/artic...ck_your_samsung_wp7_with_windowbreak-12-23-11
Remember that If you use the above method with higher versions of Mango or Tango this will not work.
Then I used a manual method via Cab Sender to get 8107 update, until here you still have the Windowbreak condition.
http://www.wpcentral.com/force-updating-your-windows-phone-os-build-8107-tutorial
Afther that I used the same method to update from 8107 until 8773 with the Cabs that you can found here in the second post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
You must update to 8112 and then to 8773.
It´s recommended that you put your phone in to airplane mode and switch off the internet connection on your computer during the process, Cab Sender need an internet connection to start the process, but you can switch off that connection after the process start.
To remain the Windowbreak in Tango follow the next tutorial:
http://windowsphonehacker.com/artic...date_be_forewarned_possible_solution-06-28-12
It worked perfect to me with no issues until now!
Update:
I had some issues with an application then I dicided perform a hard reset to my phone, my surprise was that the Windowbreak had disappeared, then I tried to carry out the process again but now was not possible, because now Im in Tango 8773 and the diagnosis version is high 1109 and the method doesn´t work with that version, the only way to perform Windowbreak again it´s downgrading the OS and the only method that I found was with a Brazilian firmware: I677_OPEN_ZTOKL1_FIRMWARE_SAMSUNG that debrand your phone with no carrier logos and applications and let your device in mango 7720, but again it´s not possible use the Windowbreak method because the firmware version it´s KL1 and we need KK4 for that and there is not another firmware available that we can use, so my recommendation it´s to remain in Mango if you like Windowbreak.
The advantages with the brazilian firmaware it´s that you have call block options, 3g toogle, change the the 4G icon in bar nottification to 3g+, no carrier logos and apps and if you decided aupdate to Tango via Cab Sender again you can do it, but remember without possibilities of Windowbreak for now

thx
great, works for me...

Anybody having this problem also do you know if the Radio software version and Radio hardware version is the same as the at&t firmware.

MMS finally working on Omnia7

It's been a while and patiently waiting for Samsung or MS to provide a solution to address this issue but still no luck. After doing some research, connecting the dots and thinking a way around to make this work. I finally was able to.
So I just want to share to the rest of my fellow Omnia7 users who are frustrated with getting the MMS to work 'coz despite the Network profile tool working with some, there are still some like me who couldn't.
Here are the steps I did to finally make it work.
1. If you are on Nodo already, unlocked and still no mms. Just install the SamsungTools from lyriquidperfection found here tick on Set 'Run ADC' Flag and reboot the phone. You don't need to run the Network Profile any more just check if your carrier is the one listed in the mms setting by going to the Diagnosis menu (##634#) then keying in *#9920#
2. If you are on Nodo already, locked and no mms. Unfortunately, you would have to flash to the previous rom before Nodo if you can't successfully make Chevron work. I used this version I8700_XEN_I8700XENJK1 found in this thread. Unlock your phone using Chevron and then installing the SamsungTools. After you have mms working, you can upgrade to NoDo. There's a possibility that you may lose the unlock state, mine still remained unlocked. But you're mms settings will be retained.
I don't know if there's an easier way to get MMS working but this worked for me.

I did this route, but not for MMS, i had a problem on my Omnia 7 display from tweaking registry. I had to flash to this ROM I8700_XEN_I8700XENJK1 but i really wanted my original branded T-mobile UK rom . Now my phone is dev unlocked and on Nodo, but today i see a branded t-mobile ROM on the main samsung omnia 7 page, so i will flash to Samsung-Omnia-7-Firmware-XXJJ6-ALL-PROVIDERS even if it goes back to firmware 7.0 7004 ..then update to nodo after. Im having one or two issues with XEN_I8700XENJK1 ROM on my Omnia 7 thats why i am flashing again. oh well more loss of apps, settings and tension lol
thanks for the good tips, i will check it out for MMS issues.

Guide: Passing Dev. Unlock from Nodo to Mango for AT&T Focus

I only post this here for those interested who may not pay attention to the general Win Phone 7 section. It is a link to the steps I took to get from dev unlocked nodo 7390 to mango 7166 keeping my dev. unlock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15386126&postcount=3
Good luck and enjoy mango responsibly!
I don't know if anyone post this but I had the same problem with the internet and th MMS they where not working. There IS NO NEED TO RESET OR TO CALL AT&T FOR UNLOCK CODE.....
SIMPLY HAVE INSTALLED SAMSUNG TOOLS (BY GAZZ) FROM NODO WHEN YOU DO THE UPGRADE.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=924497&page=9
AFTER YOU MODIFY THE UNLOCK WITH *#9908# SIMPLY GO TO THE SAMSUNG TOOLS AND CHECK ALL THE BOXES AND APPLY IT WILL REBOOT AND VUALAAAAAA YOUR FOCUS NOW HAVE INTERNET AND MMS AGAIN.....
RUNNING MANGO FROM MY FOCUS
I follow your instruction, however my phone is re-locked after install mango
nodo: unlocked
pre-mango: unlocked
mango: locked
I tried to go back nodo, then did the whole process 3 time, but no luck. I also tried to update mango by a different way, got mango but also re-locked my phone.
----------------
NVM, deleted the diagnosis app, then dial ##634# again, everything works

[Q] Updating Omnia 7 to Mango

Hi,
I got a problem updating my Omnia 7.
It is a german T-Mobile branded with 16GB. At first I could not upgrade it, because I could not get into download mode (wrong boot-firmware). I got myself a Jig-Device and solved that. After that I was shown an update by Zune. So i updated to 7004 then to 7008 then to 73something, but after that updating to 7720 did not work. I got Errorcode 8000FFFF. Which told me that I might be forced to sync my data back to my mobiel (no problem, no data on it).
After that I formated the telefone to default settings but I was still not able to upgrade to Mango.
Then I debranded the phone using a firmware from the developer forum. After that I wasx back at 7004 and upgraded the phone again (I restarted the phone after each successfull flash). But still I was stuck with 8000FFFF.
Then I went back to german T-Mobile branding und tried a third time going to mango - still not working.
Problem is: A colleague of me went with her HD7 straigt to Mango, and even one of our directors did a successful update on his omnia 7 (and he is defenitly not a techie).
What am I doing wrong?
Is there a firmware available which updates me directly to Mango?
Is my phone faulty?
Regards and thank you for your help!

Guide to get LG Quantum works on Rogers Canada Network including MMS

After spending long nights of investigations, I here present the solution for those LG Quantum users like who want to get onto Rogers Canada Network.
So far I have done 2 LG Quantums and all works fine for both data and MMS.
Here are the steps:
1. Download the attached LGC900KB_100927_MP.zip and extract it somewhere. You will get LGC900KB_100927_MP.dll.
2. Goto nasirahmed's post regarding LG Quantum's original firmware thread. (Great job, nasirahmed!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935605
Download the LG C900K Australia version firmware and of course "LGDP2 V36 UMTS Setup" tool.
3. Follow the steps in nasirahmed's instructions to flash the LGC900K firmware. When you are asked for "DLL Selection", pick the one you have just extracted.
4. If everything goes well, you should have the C900K firmware pre-nodo version.
5. Start Zune and let it upgrade your firmware all the way to Mango. Be patient, it's a long process (about 1 hour).
6. Now you should have C900K mango on your phone, go to dialer and dial ##634# to install the MFG tool.
7. Disconnect USB and connect Wifi. Goto MarketPlace and download LG's Network Setup(In the LG App Store section).
8. Start the Network Setup tool it'll say something like "setttings changed, has to reboot". Let it reboot.
9. Then start MFG tool, password "277634#*#", "Engineering" -> "Other Options" -> Pick Registry editor.
Change the following key to 0.
LM_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\LGE\DYNPROV\XMLList
Key = "RGS_CA_302_720"
Type = DWORD
10. Exit the MFG tool. Then run Network Setup again, it will reboot again.
11. Now you should have the Roger's Profile everything set up including the MMS.
12. Enjoy!
p.s.
The reason why it has to be C900K:
Only the C900K has the required the application lge_dynprovapp.exe to do dynamic provisioning. The Bell and AT&T ones doesn't include the file in \windows.
The reason for my DLL:
The original DLL for C900B or C900 or C900K will not let you do cross model flash. My version will let you flash across C900-C900B-C900K.
thanks, I'm thinking this might also be useful in the future if the at&t or the telstra versions get the tethering update but bell doesn't.
Thanks a lot for this! Flashing between C900/B/K with provided .DLL and LGDP2 V36 UMTS Setup tool works smootly!
Unfortunately flashing to different firmware didn't fix my issue. C900 is not accepting SIM, but repeatedly prompt for PUK code. I'm almost ready give my money for Octopus or similar tool, after trying unlock codes and flashing with different firmwares...
This worked great for me once I figured out the nuances to Nasirahmed's instructions but there are a couple of areas that I got stuck on.
Here are Nasirahmed's instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935605 with some notes in red so you don't waste time uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and software like I did trying to get this to work:
1. Download LGDP2 V36 UMTS Setup and extract, go to LGDP2_31_INCLUDE_LGDP1_Setup folder and install the exe (use serial number). Now copy all the files from DOWNLOAD folder and paste on C:\DOWNLOAD (overwrite if needed).
2. Install LG United Modem Driver, connect the phone to PC through USB cable and let the drivers to be installed. USB 1.1 is recommended. (note: phone has to be in Emergency Download mode at this point to get the drivers to install.. power off phone, then press Volume Down, Camera, and Power Button at the same time to get in Emergency Download mode.)
3. You'll need firmware in DZ format and the correct DLL for your model.
(note: Unplug phone from USB)
4. Open LGDP2_V36_UMTS from C:\DOWNLOAD, select UMTS in Division and click OK.
5. Select port (check Device Manager for LG USBModem Port number), you can set a range from easy select or select manually. Select DLL and select firmware in Downlaod Configuration. Click OK. (note: You need your phone plugged into USB in Emergecy Download mode to find the port number in Device Manager... otherwise, just click ALL under easy select. Also, don't worry about the "Can't find Monitor Port!" warning )
6. Click START in main window and connect the phone to USB cable in Emergency download mode(VOL+CAM+PWR). (note: Make sure phone is not plugged into USB before you click start, then plug it back in AFTER after you click start. The update will then start automatically and is finished after the phone reboots into Windows.)

As far as i remember, most of the indian provider's profiles are already in the stock rom. You just need MFG app to set the correct one.

chinabull, using the 900k firmware, what radio and firmware version do you end up with after all the mango and post mango updates?
LG setup tool??
I have an unlocked quantum and have followed along with no problems untill I need to get the LG network setup tool. I can't find it or access it anywhere. I tried marketplace after i did the firmware update to the australia rom. I found a place to get the tool .xap file but cant get it onto the phone. Anyone can help?
Oh and I'm in Canada trying to get the quantum on Rogers.
did you folks on the flashed telstra ROM get the wifi tethering update notice too?
edit, flashed the ROM myself, yes, you do get the tethering update.
Does this flashing to Australian ROM solves the problem of Caller ID on rogers network for LG quantum?
Caller ID is more important for me than the MMS, i only want to do this if it fixes caller id.
Thanks

Might be a reasonable way to get the wifi tethering update. I just got a reply back from LG Canada saying:
"Unfortunately we have been told that the phone will not support tethering and this cannot be added through an update."
I guess LG Canada figures the quantum can't get wifi tethering?

Would also like to know this. Does the Telstra ROM fix the caller ID issue on the Fido/Rogers network?
I personally don't use this specific phone regularly.
I did it purely because I promised my friends to help them to fix the MMS issue.
Just talked to them and they did mentioned about the caller id sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.
If you are talking about similar issue, then probably no.

Hi can you make a DLL that will allow us to flash the Optimus 7 rom to our quantum. They both share the same hardware spec.

I'd be really wary of doing this, there are some differences 1) capactive vs physical windows button, 2) hardware keyboard.
I agree. If you want to flash different variant of firmware on your optimus 7, i can probably help.

Hi bobzero, chinabull, and other Canadian Quantum users. I guess we all got the phone on Bell firesale. I unlocked it and moved to Speakout (Rogers) network now, but since I can't update all APN settings maps are not working. I'm not sure if you have similar problem. They load over home wireless but not when I'm using Speakout data.
My understanding is that here mentioned procedure would solve MMS issue so I was wondering would this help with maps issue too?
Issue is that I can't change all APN proxy values. I unlocked and moved one Android phone to Speakout recenty but since I had control over all APN settings maps are working great.
If this update doesn't help with maps is there any other way to update APN settings?
Edit: To clarify, when I open MFG I don't have any xml file to chose from under network configurations.
Thanks
CHINABULL, with the Telstra ROM, do you happen to know if text messages are received with the wrong time stamp as they are with the bell ROM ? thank you

hi Chinabull,
Just a question out of curiosity, is there a chance to flash a Optimus 7 Jil Sanders ROM to our Quantum.?
Can you make a DLL for the same ?
Yes, just confirmed the Time stamp issue is still there. But it seems it doesn't affect threading.

Q regarding 8107

I'm rocking my focus, which hasn't been unlocked since mango 7720. I used chevron unlock to get nodo and played around with some tones in the registry. So the only changes I made to get nodo was change the registry carrier from ATT to blank. Had to use the Hungary and disconnect trick for nodo, but have gotten every update since. (cheated for mango too, but that, obviously was impatience)
So my question is, is it worth it to download this one, as I see a lot of people are having data and other issues with it...

ATT Focus
I have no confidence in ATT so I upgraded first to 7740, then 8107 using the cab sender method. Everything works fine. Still Chevron WP7 token and interop unlocked, and all of my registry edits are intact. The upgrade went easily, was recognized by Zune, and the backup was also recognized. Hope this helps. No data issues or any other issues. Most issues people have using the cab sender method had to do with misunderstanding what language packs needed to be installed.
That's what I did. Changed ATT-US to Rog-CA, and upraded to 7740. Then changed back to ATT and used the CabSender method to get to 8107. All is working fine.
