Who else is waiting for the 64gb version? - Galaxy S III General

Hope it doesn't take 4 months.

I was but didn't want to wait that long so I caved and got the 32GB version.

I didn't want to wait, so I got a 32GB and a 64GB sd card.

Does it still have the 1.97gb of system storage like the GS2/Note?

I'm going to pick up the 32gb version in a couple of weeks and I already have a 64gb sd card in my gs2 filled with over 20 gigs of music plus pics etc.. the thing is for the gs2 it had to be formatted as fat so you lost the speed of the exfat file system now the gs3 supports it which is nice but I'm not looking forward to copying everything off the card reformatting it as exfat then copying it all back over. lol

I caved and got the 32gb. But pre-ordered a class 10 SanDisk Ultra 64gb micro SD. That should do me fine tbh. £45 isn't that much either to be fair.

[Q] 32GB Cards...possible or possible soon?

Hi Everyone,
I have read the extensive thread on compatible SD cards, but just wanted to open another thread asking if there are any known 32GB cards working with this phone or if you guys have heard of any officially certified 32GB cards coming soon. I am DESPERATE to have more storage on my phone, but will not buy a card unless I know it is working for sure and want to go for the 32 as soon as possible. Thanks!
Well I can only speak on my personal experience but I've been using a Kingston Class4 32GB card since November 8th and have never had any issues. And I'm sitting at around 12GB of usage (music, videos, etc).
I'm not saying this is gauranteed to work - just relaying what my personal experience has been.
Use at your own risk...
My Kingston 32GB C4 card lagged really bad once I got over 10GB. There are so many conflicting reports like this. Using any card is a bit of a gamble at this stage.

Kingston Class 4 - Working Great Here
I also have had a 32GB Kingston Class 4 card in my Focus and have been using it since November 8th. I have had no problems at all.
Total Storage 37.07 GB
Available Storage 22.20 GB
So I am using 15GB of my storage for music and such and have had no problems whatsoever.

I'd be curious to see what happens when you get over 16GB. It seems like 8GB cards are okay; maybe there's something that freaks out when you use more external storage than internal.
I also would be interested in what happens once you fill it past 16GB. Would one of you be willing to give it a shot for us? Thanks for the replies everyone!
I have a 16GB Scandisc card of clas 2, I put that in and reastarted the phone. Nothing happened.....is that how you know if it is working or not???
Thanks
i would like to try this one but the price is a little too steep right now and it wouldn't be good if it didn't work.... paid less for the focus itself. http://lexar.com/products/lexar-high-speed-microsdhc-card-performance-kit?category=90

Go to Settings -> About and it will tell you how much storage you have. If it still says 8GB, then you still need to format the phone.

I recieved that card from Amazon early this week but so far all I've done is benchmark it. The card is pretty impressive with sequential and random read-rates but its write speeds are about the same as the Sandisk Class 2 I currently have in my Focus. Right now I'm waffling on wether to go through the process of swapping the cards and reinstalling everything or waiting until the NoDo update comes out. If I do make the swap I'll probably post on the working sd cards thread

[Q] Galaxy S4 64GB MicroSDXC Showing Up As 32GB

So I just purchased a 64GB MicroSDXC card and put it in my Galaxy S4. It read the card perfectly as a 64GB card out of the box at first. However, I formatted the card through the phone and then it said it was only 32GB. I've tried reformatting again and again on my phone, Windows 7 PC, and Macbook Pro. However, I can't get it to register as a 64GB card again. I've read various posts on this forum and tried all the different formatting utilities, but am still struggling. I'm almost to the point where I'm just going to say that 32GB is enough and deal with not having the full 64GB. Any help would be appreciated. Any idea why this is?

Download this FAT32 Formatter and remove the 64GB card from your phone.
Plug the 64GB sdcard into your computer with an adapter or card reader: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/FAT32format-Download-79375.html
Then format the 64GB card and put it back in your phone and the 64GB sdcard will work fine
and will have approximately 60gb free space on it.
Do NOT format the card using your phone.
If it still shows 32GB after doing the above, you need to return the card and exchange it for one which works properly
Good luck!
I tried that and it's still showing up as 32GB. When I first put it in the phone, it shows some up as 59GB, which means it was detecting the whole card. I've tried formatting as FAT32 and exFAT in both my Mac and Pc. I also browsed forums for awhile and still can't get an answer.

Then the sdcard is defective, hopefully you can still return it and either exchange it or get a refund.
Good luck!
So the card ended up being a fake. I purchased it on eBay and paid a little bit more money for one that said Kingston OEM, but that's not what I received. I contacted the seller and have not heard anything yet, so I made a case with eBay to help take care of it. Long story short, am I better off just buying one in the store or can I get a pretty legitimate, working 64GB microSDXC card for my GS4 online for less than $50?
You should go on to amazon? They have SD cards on there for good prices and reputable Sellers

128GB Sandisk microsdxc works in the p6800

Hello,
I am pleased to report that the Sandisk microSDXC 128gb card does work in the p6800, stock JB MD3. The card must be formatted to FAT32. The card is shipped formatted to exFAT.
Enjoy!

I purchased it from Amazon when they were offering the card (pre-release) for $119USD, so less than $1USD per GB. Not too bad. The write performance is OK nothing great. But, the card can store my entire .mp4 music collection with no card swapping!
Given the discounted price, I'm happy.

No, but my Samsung Galaxy 5 player did take awhile to recognize the card. Perhaps it was because the card has over 17,000 files!
great news :good:, I will also try
Samsung EVO 64gb
I want to share my experience with you.
Long time waiting and trying this thing 64gb to work with my Gtab 7.7 without succes until today.
I received this Samsung EVO 64gb UHS-I from Amazon.fr and right from the box it did work with device. Yes happy to see that and more happy to get all my stuff from the 32gb on it readable and writable.
One remark, my Gtab is actually running under Kitkat Rom 4.4.4 of Carbon release 12 Sept. 2014.
Wait and see how long this will last....

Moto X Pure: 16gb or 32gb?

Hi guys, just wondering if most users here buy the 16gb version or 32gb?
I currently have an M7 (yes, it's ancient lol) and looking to get this Moto X Pure, but wondering if I should get the 32gb version or 16gb. I am thinking 16gb since it has a microSD slot so i can add a 64gb or 128gb card for additional storage.
Will a 16gb hinder the device's performance? I probably won't have too many games or apps. Mainly the google apps, facebook, twitter, etc.
Thanks
32 . don't let $50 stand in your way.
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
thanks, is there a reason to go up to 32gb?
would apps and rom require that much to run smoothly?
I would also reccomend 32gb . Internal storage loads faster than SD card in my experience .
64gb.
64. No question. The more internal space, the better.
Bangin' on my unlocked/rooted

I never filled my 16 gig n5 up and I still l decided on the 32 gig. Future proofing and whatnot especially with Google doubling the size that apks from the play store can be.
16gb. Top-of-the-line 64gb cards often go on sale for around $30, and once android M is out, the difference between internal and a fast external SD card will be minimal. Twice the storage and cheaper than going 32gb internal now

That is my thinking. Android M is just around the corner by the time I get this phone in hands.
64GB MicroSD card with write speed around ~80MB/sec can be had for around $30. Or the 128GB can be had for around $50-$60.
So why pay $50 for an additional 16GB? Unless there's something about the extra 16GB internal that directly correlates to a phone's performance.

Agreed, I'm shopping out cards now and plenty of good options below $50 for plenty of additional storage. I back up often and don't have the need to have to carry large amts of data on device myself. The 16gb was an acceptable and more affordable option for me.
Hi
Hi,
I went with a 32gb with a 64gb sd card!!
Some apps need to be on internal memory to run.
Everything else goes to sd card.
Ken
I also switched from an M7 (love the phone, but it is getting dated) and went with 32 gigs. No particular reason other than a little future-proofing as mentioned. I never really did fill up my 16gb M7 though.

Same here. My M7 with 16gb internal, and 32GB external, still have about 28GB left. Only ROM and apps on the internal, and pretty much everything else is on the external SD.
I went with 32GB internal and an 128GB microSDXC card. I was bumping the 16GB limit with nandroid backups on my old phone, and 32GB gives me plenty of room for apps and backups. The 128GB takes care of my music and videos. Thought hard about 64GB, but $50 for the 64GB or the 128GB external card, the later won in a landslide.
Pls tell me actual storage space in 16 gb & 32gb version of moto x style/pure...
64gb. I believe 64gb leave 53gb open or thereabouts.
I got the 16 gig and bought a 64 gig SD card for $17. After all the nexus phones w/o SD card option I'm extremely happy with it now. Will only get better with 6.0

I ran out of space so quickly with my 16GB N5 that I refused to have that issue again, I chose 64 on the X and will supplement that with a 128 SD, I enjoy podcasts, cache from Play Music and transfer pictures from my sony rx camera to edit and share. Its also nice not to worry about space, ever.
I went with 16gb internal and a 128gb sd card. My tablet has 64gb internal and also has a 128gb card so I'm all set.
The 32gb was in-stock on amazon, and it would have been another 2 weeks though motomaker, so i bought the 32 white, chp, white and love it.
I probably would have done black, red, black. but now that i have mine i see lots of people with the black red combo.
the white back looks great with the white front, way better than my 2013 dev unit with the black front and white back.

hi, i buyed 64 memory card 10class with no logo brand name, and pasting files from pc it taking long 32gb time 11hours, wtf i wanna buy SAND DISK 32GB Ultra, so faster speed than this bull****??????????????????? im pissed of when it taking to long copied files.
1. Self-censoring is not sufficient to avoid an infraction from moderators. I highly suggest editing your post and removing all the curse words within it.
2. Buying a no-name MicroSD card is the source of all your problems. I bet that card was really inexpensive, right? That's because the card manufacturer lied to you and told you the card was Class 10 when it really is Class 2 or Class 4. These cards are far slower than a true Class 10 card, but are far less expensive as well.
3. It's good to see you've learned the lesson here, which is to only buy brand name MicroSD cards. Sandisk is a good choice.
