I have 128Gb SDXC microSD card and it work fine with my S4 (exFAT formatted). I have successfully tested some 64Gb cards too.

Make sure get faster card. im using 64GB with u1 class sandisk.

hi, i buyed 64 memory card 10class with no logo brand name, and pasting files from pc it taking long 32gb time 11hours, wtf i wanna buy SAND DISK 32GB Ultra, so faster speed than this bull****??????????????????? im pissed of when it taking to long copied files.

1. Self-censoring is not sufficient to avoid an infraction from moderators. I highly suggest editing your post and removing all the curse words within it.
2. Buying a no-name MicroSD card is the source of all your problems. I bet that card was really inexpensive, right? That's because the card manufacturer lied to you and told you the card was Class 10 when it really is Class 2 or Class 4. These cards are far slower than a true Class 10 card, but are far less expensive as well.
3. It's good to see you've learned the lesson here, which is to only buy brand name MicroSD cards. Sandisk is a good choice.

32gb card problem !!

I need to use w7. Class4 32gb card is available. How can I use this card in w7, or can I use without any problem which I use with rum. I tried the reset at startup which puts rum always opens by chance, but after seeing this at a time card but gets stuck constantly scratching his rum. Is there a solution or stable rom 32gb class 4 card, which runs with the idea here?
I did my English is not good sorry for that translation google translate
you can try every rom
but its not the rom but your card that is laggy
not every card is good for wp7 so your have to change your card
I'm sorry English is not very good .. Do you have a rom that will support my card now, but I find it needed? previously or currently using a 32gb card and wonder if you have friends among you?

nothing to do with the size, 32GB is the maximum our hardware is capable of taking, buying a 32GB card for our device in the HOPE that it works seems a bit mental to me, yours doesnt work by the sound of it, but that is not because of the size, some of us believe its to do with random access speeds, class 2 or 4 is usually a good bet but by no means will they give you a 100% chance of it working.
Both my Sandisk 32gb cards have worked fine for me... 1 is class 2 with part number ending in A11M, the other is class 4 ending in P36A. Sandisk is a good brand and are pretty consistent in their cards, but even so, there's no 100% certainty that getting the same card will have the same exact performance... but I believe Sandisk gives you the best chance of working well.
I have also tried with my Kingston class 4 32gb card, but that card didn't work too well... was laggy, and kept resetting and not reading the card after reset.
What brand of SD card are you using?
integral micro sd hc 32gb class 4

[Q] SD or SDHC

Looking to get myself a 32gb card.
Just wondering if the play uses SD or SDHC memory cards, or ok with either?
it uses microsd and microsdhc
regular sd card wont do
Yeah, obviously I know it's micro.
Just wasn't sure about the sdhc.
Cheers
It's ok with both sd and sdhc but I think it's not compatible with sdxc (if you'd ever like to get to 2TB maybe it can come in an update, My htc wizard got sdhc support with an unofficial driver update).
A 32 gig card will work just fine with the Play.

I heard there's problems with class 10 32 gig micros on android phones. Is this true?
i'm curious about this, some applications wont work with a class 2 speed sd.
sd or sdhc would do. you should be more worried about the speed. as for now you should think of either getting a class 6 16gb or class 4 32gb (if you could find one).

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220547&Tpk=32gb micro sd
I have class 10 32gb, works fine on xperia play.
The only problem android has, is you cant format 32gb cards on your phone. But most, if not all cards come pre-formatted anyway. Otherwise you have to connect the card with an adapter to your pc to format it.
*edit
You can format 32gb cards on your phone, but it wont format properly and you will have issues. I did with my old phone, it couldnt scan the card properly and it would reboot while trying to scan.

read most of the reviews: crashes and corrupts the files, some even only last within 24 hours i'll stick with the class 4 32gb for now
even with the sandisk 32gb class 2 cards, i already replaced 2 of them when they crapped out on me

haven't read anything about this. and the reviews for a kingston 32gb class 4 on the net has been great so far. but if this will be the case i might just go for a 16gb class 6
Ok, so I got a 32gb card, moved all of my stuff off my 16gb (about 14 gig) to my pc. Took about 20 minutes.
Put my 32 gig in, formatted it & transferred everything over.
Took about 3 hours & when I put it in my play it's saying there's 28 gig left & hardly anything I set to transfer has actually gone to the card ! ?
Do a full format and not a quick format.
Ive seen a class 10 32gb micro sd card for 50 quid, but im worried that its too cheap and might not last long.

Memory cards are very reliable IF you bought the original ones and not those unbranded fake cards.
I've never had issues with ALL my memory cards, from the SmartMedia, SD, MS stick and Compact Flash cards used in my Palm and Sony Clie PDAs, my DSLR and micro 4/3 digital cameras, PSPs and DSL and all the way to the microSD cards used in my smartphones and tablets. I purchased them all from local reputable shops and never bought any from online stores. Can't remember the exact figures but I probably had a total of 30 to 40 cards here in my house.
The problem I see is those cards that are found on online shops that are unbranded (anything not Sandisk, Kingston, Lexar, Panasonic etc are all semi-fakes). Just imagine that Sandisk the world's largest NAND Flash memory maker has yet to come out with a 32GB Class 10 microSD as of now and you can already find some smaller unknown companies selling them at very cheap prices since many months back?
Sometimes if a deal is too good to be true, IT IS too good to be true! Of course if you still proceed to get them due to their ridiculously cheap prices, the risk is all yours. For me, I just buy the originals at original prices and not regret it later, my data is much more important to me than saving tens of bucks.
For some reason, there are quite a lot of fake Kingston cards on the market so beware.
Various issues with the fake/unbranded cards are:
1. Reliability
2. On a 32GB card, you may actually get only 4 or 8GB storage, some tricks were added in these fake cards such that once you copied beyond the 4 or 8GB capacity, it automatically loops back internally to overwrite the oldest copied data.
3. Some 32GB Class 10 cards only had Class 2 speeds.
Another advice is that for smartphone usage, you may be better off getting Class 2 or 4 cards rather than higher class cards. This is because although the class 6 or 10 cards can have sequential readings and writings at their stated class speeds, in terms of random access of data on the card they may actually be slower than Class 2 and 4 cards. In other words, you'll get more lags using higher Class cards.
Here's a test I did with a Patriot LX Series Class 10 32GB Micro SDHC

You sir are correct! My Patriot 32gb micro class 10 lags alot When playing the FPSE the game lags too much but with the micro sd card that came with the Xperia play runs perfect I'm gonna return the card and just get a Sandisk 32gb class 2 from newegg.

After doing a test of manually copying content to the card I believe I have fallen foul to buying a cheapo card covered by your point 2.
I've bought quite a few cheapo cards back from my old K750i & PSP days but this is the 1st one I've been stung with.

Micro SDHC Cards Listing - Like a Boss :D

So in response to my previous thread on the DVP and if it would work for me I'd like to thank everyone for their insightful thoughts options and most of all answers.
Now my next question, Micro SDHC card choices. And again, answers are the preferred responses but thoughts and options would be fantastic.
I am going to add to and edit together a list of Micro SDHC Cards on here for people to reference for the future.
Firstly, I already own this card but have yet to try it with a DVP. Anyone here with experience or can at least validate the technical specifications as having a chance at working, let me know.
Transcend 32GB Class 4 Micro SDHC Card via Amazon
Thanks again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Sandisk 32GB Class 2 Micro SDHC Card via Amazon ** Note this card has been listed on other forms as working despite its Class 2 Status with speeds closer to that of a class 4 card**
2. Lexar 32GB Class 10 Micro SDHC Card via Amazon **Verified working by InvisibleKnight**
3. Amazon Basics 16GB Class 10 Micro SDHC Card via Amazon **Note this is a class 10 card, but according to the first reviewers benchmarks it does 20mb/s copy speed which is twice as good as class 10 speeds. Should work well with a windows phone, theoretically speaking**
4. Sandisk 32GB Class 4 Micro SDHC Card via Amazon (originally manufactured as Class 2 but later reclassed as class 4) **Used by a ZDnet write to upgrade his personal DVP. Has never reported any issues i know of UPDATE - Purchased this card for myself, works like a charm, no probs so far (knock on wood)**
I bought a 32Gb Lexar Class 10 Micro SDHC, and not only it works, my dvp seems to run quite faster than before.
You can find about the card itself here

Can anyone try this one? It would be great to have 64GB of storage...

How's your class 10 card holding up?
Micro SDXC has a completely different specification From Micro SDHC. Remember when Micro SDHC came out, older devices that were made to use jus Micro SD wouldnt read them, same issues with the DVP and those SDXC cards.

Oh well, we'll wait for the next phone with physical portrait keyboard and SDXC compatibility
Wish we can get a little more feedback on this.
Does anyone know if we can go back to the old card if the new one doesn't work out? Is it just a matter of popping the old one back in the sd slot?
I know what u mean. Msoft said tha tthe Windows Phones would be the next generation Zune Players, but coming from a Zune80, a phone shipping with 8 - 16 gbs of storage is pathetic. I have 60 gbs of music, what am i supposed to do with a 8 gb DVP?
Thank goodness the DVP is somewhat easy to upgrade to 32gigs. At the very least msoft should give u the ability to stick two Micro sdhc cards in a phone, mux it together and create a 64gb pool of storage.
tried lexar 16GB class 10?
I got a SanDisk 16 class 4, its been doing fine then it got stuck at whatsapp then the phone goes into a loop of restart and cut off.
The only way to fix it was to recover the phone.
so I need a new card for my phone, I see that the lexar 32Gb class 10 is good for this phone but don't want to go up to 32GB, has anyone tried the 16GB version? Would it come out with the same results ?

Heard there were two patches, one is a renaming of a class 2 to class 4 and another is the newer where its different class 4.
I guess I got the bad batch.....
I recently got a DVP. It shipped with a 16GB Sandisk class 4, which worked fine for a few days until my 32GB Sandisk class 4 arrived, which also has no problems at all.
Watch out for fake Sandisk cards, apparently they are out there.
Yeah it should work just fine that 16gb class 10. A little fyi, i bought that 32 gb sandisk (no 4) Working fine so far.
Once the speed is class 4 and over and there are no bad memory areas on the card u'll be fine no matter the size.

[Q] Bad SD card or normal S4 performance?

So given the smaller HD space of the S4 I bought an Kingston 8 GB microSDHC Class 4 memory card for the phone.
Whenever I need to access anything on the card though I've been getting errors. Viewing pics in the gallery app is slow and causes the gallery app to freeze. I'm now trying to copy all of the pictures off the SD card onto the main HD space on the phone to stop this but I can't seem to get it to transfer more than a few files before I get an error copying it.
Did I buy a crap SD card or is this just normal with the S4?
No crap SD card I've found that Samsung phones work best with Samsung cards ! I used to use sandisk and had to switch too many stupid errors and stuff but long story short get a Samsung class 10 and you'll be happy

I would try formatting the card and if still causes problems, get a new one. Sandisk is fine but if you bought it off eBay or for super cheap it could be knockoff. You don't need class 10 unless you are doing lots of writes and want speed - refilling entire card with movies or music.
I would say false class ten loads faster and is more efficient in storage and also more reliable I used to use class 4 and say I'm not wasting money blah blah but to be honest its worth the extra money! Especially if the op said his gallery is loading slow perfect example of a class ten shinning moment there! He didn't have a sandisk and he said he had a Kingston .... Worse IMO. Sandisk will tell you that 32 GB ultra class tens don't work well with some androids as I have been in contact with them many times since my gs3 and note 2 days ! Op I honestly recommend you to get a class ten Samsung micro SD and you'll be happy but your money and your phone just my three cents worth
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I bought the card from Amazon, and not from a 3rd party retailer using Amazon; directly from Amazon LLC so it's as legit as it gets on that front. It's entirely possible that the class 4 is slowing it down I just didn't want to rule out the possibility that it might be the OS doing something funky I'm unaware of.
But that said I found out the reason I was getting errors copying the files was because the files were corrupted so I'm leaning more towards crappy card at this point. I'll try formatting the card and see what happens. If it comes down to it I'll just get a larger Class 10, maybe get a samsung card after tyshemi recommendation.
I've used same Samsung class 10 SD card with two phones no problem. Even dirty swapped from one phone to the other no formatting no problems.

Class ratings apply to write speed. It has nothing to do with reliability. Reads are faster then writes and so to distinguish performance class ratings were established in regards to writes and you pay more for faster write speed. Sandisk cards have a. 5 year warranty. Try formatting an using the card again and if still having issues try to return it.
For more factual info on SD cards check out Wikipedia.

But more facts dont tell you that the market on ebay and amazon are flooded with bad sd cards and that sandisk return process is very slow and us anal phone users need things now trust me ive been through it five times with them when the note 2 came out! Needless to say samsung cards work better with samsung devices and samsung supports them as well

Odds are it's a bad sdcard.
I've been using the same 64GB sandisk card class 10 card for 8 months ( Galaxy S3 and S4). I have over 30GB of music on it and growing. not to mention I regularly write 1GB plus files to the card and delete them (custom roms). No issues at all.
I've been using SanDisk Ultra 64GB MicroSD Class 10 on my S4 (GT-I9500), but read-write speeds are much slower than accessing from computer (using sdcard adapter). What is the cause of this? Thank you.

Questions like these will just invoke peoples opinions and everybody has one. Nobody will be able to tell you what is "best". They all work good and the same. Samsung make cards just fine. So does PNY, Lexar, Kingston,Transcend, etc. Me personally, I stay with the major brands. You should be fine if you do so.Sounds like you just might have a bad card.Take it back and exchange it for something else.

I am a fan of Sandisk cards. Used a 64GB micro in this phone and then moved onto a PNY card which is what currently is in my Note now. There is another thread somewhere in here, maybe Accessories, that has a great deal on MicroSD cards from Best Buy and Amazon. I would start to look this week at getting a card cause you probably can get one for a steal being that this is Black Thursday/Friday.

Basically, I'm trying to decide between a Samsung 64gb Pro sdxc class 10 or a Sandisk Extreme sdxc class 10, which is like $25 more. Am I wasting my money going the more expensive route? Will my phone even show the difference?
I was having problems with my 16 and 32G samsung cards in my note 2, when i got my note 3 i went with a 64G sandisk (had an amazon gift card to use up) and have nothing but good things to say. I tried my 32G samsung in the note 3 as well and it was hit or miss kinda like your describing
It's hit or miss. My 32 gb sandisk class 10 just stopped working last night, lost everything on the card. Im probably going with a samsung card next. There are many reports of samsung devices ruining memory cards, especially sandisk brand.

I have a Sandisk 64gb card. It did crap out on me but they replaced it and so far so good. I've never had a problem with Micro Center cards but as of right now the biggest they have is 32gb. That's my backup in case my 64gb Sandisk craps out again.
