Cm9 where are you!? - Vega General

I have read everywhere that cm9 has been done for the Vega but even on cyanogen webby its still cm7 on downloads page. Has anyone downloaded the cm9 source? If so is it in it to compile ourselves?

Not aware of CM9 for Vega, but VegaCream is a viable port of ICS for the Vega which works well. Still some ongoing development on it too.

I had pretty much assumed that post had been dropped in the Vega forum in error, as there hadn't been any nightlies prior to there suddenly being the RC1 announcement. It seems to be a generic post that has gone into a lot of the device forums.
If someone can point me to any CM9 download for the Vega, I stand corrected.

Thought it might help!
It's absolutely hopeless to port ICS SDK because it only supports ARMv7 and above. The ICS sources might as well be hopeless because the HTC Wildfire lacks the support of GPU and it has a very slow processer.
Update for all - Wildfire Ice Cream Sandwich
Sorry for cross posting ... i was reading up on the same question, can wildfire work for ICS? Well good news ... someone has already started - unofficially. Its still being worked upon but seems there is hope.
Check the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1355189
Officially Ice Cream Sandwich will never be on Wildfire. Its simply not viable for business. No wonder HTC didnt upgrade to Gingerbread.

That's a bad port, but the CyanogenMod maintainer for the Wildfire, Arco, has been working on a proper ICS build, there's videos if it running with sound, so very soon we'll be seeing ICS on our devices if Arco manages to get it done!

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
yes it will be slow on the Wildfire. It was never meant to support ICS. Especially since there is no GPU and low end processor + RAM. However, the devs are working on alternatives to reduce the dependence on GPU.
Fingers Crossed and hoping for the best.

If u got CM7 already there should be a CM9 also for u - but beware it may not run propper wihtout good hardware - even the wildfire is quite low for it (and i also read about needed hardware acceleration - others tell it hasn't much higher requirements then gingerbread - so we have to w8)
I don't know what u mean with soon - but till a fully working version will be out 2 month will pass properly. (with luck a bit more early...)
CM8 was reserved for Honeycomb - but since SourceCode never got released it will never be there so u wont miss someting.
For releases for galaxy mini keep track of the related forum:

First what for phone do you have now
Second are you going develop cm9 for wildfire?
I've got the Galaxy W.
Regarding CM9 for Wildfire, I'll have to see if there will be some software gl hacks added to it. I imagine doing that and make it work decently will be a huge task, so they might not find it worthwhile. Otherwise there probably won't be any point in developing for the Wildfire, as the user experience would just be to bad from the slow UI.
Wildfire history is done... thank you for all arco... I think I'm going to buy a nexus s... the price dropped a lot and the community around that phone is amazly strong... what do you think?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk
Wildfire does anything it can at the moment. I am not asking more to be honest.
If I want more, I buy a newer phone. So, if cm9 works with wildfire it is good. if it doesn't, I don't give a flying feck.
getting gingerbread is good enough for me. I don't thinkICS would run smooth, bit it would be nice to see it.

Someone got ICS on another Tegra2 device

Some developer got Ice Cream Sandwich running on the Hannspree Hannspad, a device I've never heard of before but looking it up, it has tegra 2. From my understanding the lack of Tegra 2 support was the major roadblock for the Atrix, so perhaps this could help?

Correction: check Turl's github, he created a new branch for ICS a while back. I can't elaborate on this any further since I'm not fluent in any type of code, but it's pretty clear from the keywords in his history that work is being done on 4.0.

i just read on Engadget that Motorola Defy is getting ICS ASOP, and that phone is way underpower than Atrix, so my guess is Atrix should definitely get update soon (not from Motorola, of course, rather from our beloved dev team)

Tegra2 ICS
Well, I for one would like to know where I can sync the tegra2 drivers from..
Good news from the LG camp. They are updating their Optimus 2X to ICS so even if Motorola doesn't update the Atrix, the drivers for Tegra will be available through the LG's ROM.
Let's hope we get the chance of having ICS on this fantastic ROM.
Cheers
Only thing holding up development is the lack of dev's. Nothing else. The few we have that work together did great with CM7, so maybe they can too get ICS going for us.

Only roms so far are cm7 and cm9. Yeah it sucks this phone doesn't really have any dev support. CM10 is also being worked on by a user here. Right now CM7 is the most stable rom and there aren't really any problems with it. CM9 CAN be used as a daily driver, but video recording doesnt work, and it often freezes and reboots.
