Defy now has MIUI

Yea, so now the Defy has CM7 and MIUI. Again, using 2nd init to run the ROMs. They pretty much have the two best ROMs IMO. If they can do this for the Defy, do you think that once Kholk has his bootloader bypass method all figured out we could also get CM7 and MIUI ported to the Atrix?

Thats pretty much the whole point of the bypass. To get custom roms like CM7 and MIUI running.

Sounds like you should buy a Defy.

Yea, we all know that. But do you think it'l be ported? It takes developers with a lot of time, Korean developers did all the ports for the Defy. I'm not sure if we have Korean developers...lol I'm sure someone will port one or the other, but it could be a while. It takes a ton of work matching CM7 or MIUI to our phones.

Well afaik, if atrix gets officially supported by cm7. Miui will support it

I can't wait for devs to start pouring in here. Hopefully our device will have as much development as much as the Samsung and HTC devices.

Getting an atrix to play with and have a couple questions.
is there an Miui?
How many custom roms are there?
What are people looking for in custom roms?

1) MIUI in progress, look in the dev forum, should be a thread there
2) there are a lot of custom roms based on the stock GB firmware and the CM7 firmware(all with various tweaks). I really don't know how much though.. 10? refer to #1.
3) personally I need something lean and fast... I could care less about fingerprint and webtop.

If I got the the right rdannar, he is a talented dev from the x10 forum a while back. I hope you consider producing a Rom or two. What we need is if possible a very light blur Rom built for speed and fully functional. Or you can team up with the miui or cm team for webtop ideas. Glad your considering helping us with the ATRIX. Welcome.

Ninja, Darkside, Aura, CM7 (All the roms based on CM7 as well) are either de-blurred or have 2 different versions, one with blur or very minimal blur. What exactly are you looking for?
1. MIUI is currently in Alpha 2, no details on the Beta release yet, but here's the thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383721
2. Quite a few ROM's for the Atrix.
-Darkside ROM (Nottach)
-Alien ROM (Kenneth from Briefmobile, not being updated)
-Aura (Diviance, not being updated anymore I believe)
-CM7 (Atrix Dev Team, working on CM9 now)
-Ninja (Sam Cripp)
-GingerMod (Evogp)
-RedPill and RedPill CM7 Hybrid (Dorian from Atrix Forums Website)
There's more but that's some of them, most of them rather that I know are still on the 1-2 page.
3. Mainly, when I look to flash a ROM, I would like it to be stable, smooth, fast, minimal blur or none at all.

I was okay on x10. I am more of a cook or porter with some Dev skills. I puta lot of roms out for x10. the good old days. then did some ROM for the Motorola bravo, lg thrill, galaxy s2, and soon this I hope.
I know people ask this all time, but was asking for other reasons then noobs do. Thanks for the info everyone. I could search but liked the feedback of users.

bench with fauxs old 1.4.5 kernal
with no undervolt and.maxed.min and max

I use neutrino (hopefully I spelled that correctly). Also welcome to the Atrix side glad to have you. There is a KANG CM9 in progress but the OP on that thread doesn't seem to have much more to say.
The Atrix Dev Team are great guys I think they would be happy if you could help them.

Hope you like the atrix! Coming from the x10 I sure do!
I can tell you what i'm looking for in custom roms though. ICS! We have a port but it's really an alpha, much like the x10 one.

See? ... Another proof that the Atrix 4G is still very alive and kicking!!!
(in reference to another post where pessimistic AT&T employees are saying that the Atrix 4G has reached it's end of life.)

Thanks for all feedback.. I should have it today. The first thing I usually do is deblur and slim down a rom to get used to its files... Then theme and framework.. Then who knows? I have a Gs2 that I do roms (waiting for ics and new computer to do more) for so this will be a toy...

CM9 Neutrino or CM10 Neutrino?

Title is self-explanatory.
In my experience, I found that CM9 was much more stable than CM10 - despite both having the same 'Nvidia libs' issue. CM10 also had the issue where mobile data doesn't work.
There are also other niggles, such as flash not being compatible with JB.
However, CM10 is in its very early days, so this could be an unfair comparison. Which leads me to think that maybe CM10 could be better for the long term - as development on CM9 is likely to slow down. I get the impression that CM10 could reach CM9 stability soon and personally, 'project butter' sure seems interesting to me...
What do you think?

Def CM10, even if it's on early stage, that's the way to go, CM9 leads to CM10, and i've read many people saying CM10 is far much smoother than CM9.
(But i can't tell, i'm stuck with CM7 because of you :good
I just hope Motorola will give us ICS in time...

CM10 would probably be the better way to go, but not until the proper drivers are available. CM7 may be "outdated" (which IMHO is horse****), but it's incredibly stable and reliable, which CM9 and CM10 are not (despite the commendable hard work by joker, turl, epinter and others, who are doing their absolute best with what they have to work with).

i say cm10.. it just feels like those drivers are right around the corner and that being the case cm10 stability is there too. so may as well start now?

I've voted for CM10. But I'd rather say that for now there is no sense to start developing CM10 or CM9 Neutrino for the lack of libs sources and appropriate kernel version. We already have tons of CM9 and CM10 unofficial mods that don't work in a propper way - problems with camera, UIs, hardware accelaration, etc. So I'd like to advice you to what for official ICS firmware or official version from Cyanogenmod (if it will be) and then start developing and modding in order to work out a stable completely functioning and suitable for everyday use mod unless you able to develop its yourself without official ICS.

We all know their reputation better than anybody else.

i say cm10 skip cm9. you have a good stable cm7 to hold me over till cm10 no need for baby steps up to latest if its in the works.

While I think it'd be great to see both, I think CM9 would be taking away time that could be spent on improving CM10.

Not all of us are as pessimistic as you are, thankfully. Until we get definitive proof that this is the case, I'll ignore the Chicken Littles and remain hopeful, if that's okay with you.

Of cause CM10. And I think jokersax 's should be the base. All other roms based on it. It is most close (or pure) CM.

Like the others have said, it truly is up to you and that's not being vague, you see people can choose a rom, but then tweak that rom to suit their own preference.
But having said that, the reason why I like using MokeeOS is because of all the roms that I have tried (not many <10), I have found it to be insanely quick to startup and use the camera which is important to me.

No such thing as the best rom. But, I'll throw Th3Bill's CodenameAndroid 3.3.x ports as well as his AOKP ports.

What's the best flavoured icecream? (Not being rude, but roms are kinda personal..)

Epsilon Project Final V5 + Webtop 2.3.6

I have tried Many of the ROMs available on this site.I like many different things about each ROM.My favorite is to start with ATT 236.141 debloat it,change the kernel,add my stuff. Everything works on it.If your worried about benchmarks it will score as high as others with blur,webtop,and all docks.

stock blur rooted, unlocked, and debloated
after the ICS drivers, who knows? could be any of the roms, but I will probably pick one that still supports webtop.

I think ROM choice depends on the needs of

Distinct feature of atrix is webtop
So if you want to use webtop or any webtop mods like ubuntop gentop etc you will need blur based rom
I would suggest Nottachtrix ROM
then there are CM7 based ROMs where fingerprint scanner works but you will have to sacrifice webtop
Eg. Mrom/ neutrino Rom
I currently run and would suggest you Mrom but again that is my preference you might like something else
Then there are roms like mokee/joyos/miui
Their major plus point is they all look beautiful and miui/mokee have many beautiful themes
So if you want to have a good looking phone go for them
Hope this helps you understand why people suggest you to try different ROMs and choose on your own..some people can live without webtop some cannot so its upto you to choose what exactly you want

After using CM9 and CM10, going back to any gingerbread based rom is painful. If you can live with the shortcomings (lack of drivers) of CM9/10, they are by far better experiences than CM7 or Stock.

Epinter's CM10 works best for me, u should try it

General random reboot question

The device that I rooted and installed CM 10.1 on has the bad emmc chip and bad LCD. Sadly.
I pur codefirex on it at first but it would reboot like every five minutes. When CM 10.1 came out I jumped on it and it definitely had less, but they still happen.
My question is, is it because of the emmc chip that these reboots happen? Or is it just a general issue with this device? Because some people have issues like me, others have no reboots at all...
I'm trying to find a rom that has as less reboots as possible. Also, could a different recovery affect it?
I prefer AOSP roms, but if the sense roms don't have this issue I can manage with that.
Any helpful responses are much appreciated. Thank you!

I also have bad chip and screen and have no reboots.
On all of awesomes ics I would also get reboots except dark unicorn v4.1
Also what cm10.1 Rom u using cuz I don't believe we have a "cm10.1" Rom

Albinoman has a cm10.1 and 10.1.2 I think.
Also its not because of your phone. More likely because of the kernel. You usually have to do something to make it reboot,
try and re-create the problem, then take a logcat or the other thing (last_proc or something) and sent it over to the kernel developer

Lol basically every single 3.0 kernel is evervolvs.
I know for sure albino man modifies his kernels to add governs and stuff.

lol fair enough. turns out i was on the march 31st build of cm 10.1, and after that there were many kernel changes/updates, so hopefully that fixes it. thanks for the help!
