Get the trial here and the software only costs approx $25. Give it a go and purchase if you like. I thought others may be interested in this so I did a little research. ;-)
Enjoy!
Edit: I tried installing the trial onto my SD card and also the main device memory. Both times the software locked up my device. Didn't work well for me. If you have better luck please let us know. Install at your own risk. I'm hoping it didn't make the device unstable. I'll post an update if I notice any adverse affects.

Don't remember the version but I'm going to hard reset my device and reinstall it to see how it goes. I was also having a problem with PHM and I think the issues stemmed from another program that I previously installed/uninstalled which made my device unstable.
hello you may think this a stupid question but i have tried to find the awnser, and its is probably 'no' but i want to know. can anyone help

two pennies is better than nothing
forgot to mention I know that it's possible from the storage card vantage because for a short while I ran opera portable from my phone that way ....so when I was at work I could use my own browser and minimize my footprint and control my information....worked like a charm...I wonder if it's possible to perhaps put a U3 type program on the phone where one could do more and have it boot on connect........that would be a nice app.... in theory you can put the suite they offer for free at http://portableapps.com haven't tried that but it should work
Hi Guys,
Just got my new HD2 and wow, what a phone. I just retired a 3GS after about 12 month and wanted back to WM which I really missed. That said, the iPhone gave me some bad habbits that I need to break.
First thing I did was flash the HSPL ready for flashing some new roms but before I do that, I wanted to get used the WM again. My last was 6.5 on a kaiser so this is similar but different.
Anyway, couple of things. First is the Facebook app. On my iphone, when someone had posted XYX Name Likes the Group "WM 4 Me", the "WM 4 Me" portion was linked. I dont see that in the WM app. Am I missing something or is it that you cant just jump to that group? Any tips here.
Next thing is if anyone can recomend a good program to remote erase all data if I loose it or if there is anything out there to enrypt my sd card to make it useless without a password?
Last, is there a way to get the HD2 into landscape mode? I assumed it would be automatic but... Thats what I get for assuming.
Thanks in advance guys.

stock rom isnt landscapeable, some cooked roms are, but its never been released like that, it was a test rom that leaked with the landscaped tabs and the chefs cooked them in.
I'm running the stock ROM and it's correct there's no native landscape rotation built in, but I've been using the cab attached below, and it works great for putting sense and even WM apps (like file explorer!) into landscape when you physically rotate the phone. Just put the cab on your SD card, run it (install to phone), then soft-reset.
Hey thanks guys. Just installed the cab and bingo. Dont know why they didnt send it from the factory that way?
Sam, going to se if I can get hold of that remotetracker and give it a shot.
So far, happy with the stock rom so I might just tweak it a little bit. Would still like to figure this Facebook app out. Is it an actual app or a mobile webpage I'm looking at? Also need to find a new gps since my old favorite site (gpsunderground)seems to have shut down.
Thanks again.

Cheers mate. If you have any must haves, let me know. I'm searching for footprints and I should be done.
I have had my HD2 for about a year now and are going to hard reset it for the 3rd time. I am not very fund of Manila, and have been using the SPB Mobile Shell until now (love the flexability). However now that I am resetting it once more, what is the must have installations for music, video and performance, and most important, which OS to go for? Should I try to gingerbread it and go Android, or is there Win7 possibilities?
Any advice appreciated!
WinMo7 is possible but I would go for Energy 6.5.5 29xxx builds, they have non sence builds with android style homescreen so may have something of interest.
I find sense with CHT mod hard to beat myself & well setup wm6.5.5 is hard to beat in all round professional use.
For video coreplayer, music (i use HTC sence player) but pocket player is very good.
If serious on Android I would recommend try a native device for a while to see if you really like it !

Thanks for the reply. The reason for thinking of converting to android was basically due to apps and such, but is really not a must. I've seen a few vids on youtube of how to convert to WinMo7 and Android, and it looks pretty straight forward, however if something goes wrong, could you easily go back to the original setup?
Also, I've seen some vids of the energy 6.5.5 setup, and it looks like the standard HTC theme, with some added possibilities for shortcuts etc. However, if this is manly the only reason I am pretty sure I would rather continue to use SPB Mobile Shell.
I too was a WinMo fan for years and only started on Android for fun, didnt expect to migrate. I started of just booting it now and again via SD card from widows untill I realised I was using it more and more till the point where it was automatically booting after windows on startup via bootloader.
Now ive been using Android non-stop for about a year first on my blackstone (HD1) and now on my Leo (HD2).
I honestly think you should just go the Android route on your device and leave WM6.5 behind like the rest of us. You can even use SPB Mobile shell on there if you like (leaked version) that way you still have same experience you had before but with all the apps/games of android.
And yes, to answer your question is extremely easy to go back if you change your mind. To revert everything you simply flash WM6.5 rom back on via tri-color bootloader (hold vol down and press power).
The posts above have given you very good sound advice. The only thing I want to add is before going completely Andriod with a NAND ROM. Try a Andriod SD card build first to see if you really want to go full on Andriod.
@ TheATHEiST, thanks. Thats the sort of advice I was looking for
@ T-Macgnolia, Sounds very vice to try a SD version first. I am currently using a SanDisk 16GB HC card, but I think it is pretty slow compared to the faster ones (judging from the price I paid).
By doing android via SD card, what is the easiest route for installing? Seen so many different guides, hard to know which work best.

If you have the 16GB SD card that comes with the T-Mobile HD2 it works great, this is the card I use for my SD Andriod build. All SD Andriod builds are the same, all you do is download the build, extract the zip file, (most builds create and extract to a folder named Andriod) copy the Andriodine folder to theroot of your SD card, then use the file explorer to open the Andriod folder and touch on CLCAD first to enable the sound in Andriod (it will appear as nothing appended but that is normal), then touch on HARET and you will see a box that says "Booting Leniux" then you will see a black screen with tiny writting at the top left corner of the phone screen then you will see the black screen with HTC in green then the screen will go completely black for a bit (some builds have a custom s reengineering for here so it may be different), last you will see the lock screen for the Andriod and you are booted and ready to go. Remember the first boot can take up to five to ten minutes so be patient but the .pot up time will not be that long after the first time.
Ok, dosent seems like its too diffucult then. The SD card that came with the phone only had 2GB storage capacity so I bought the 16GB straight away. Do I need to do a backup on the SD card? I have alot of photos etc. Also, I probably need a radio update (not that I've managed to understand what the radio is, except it does not play music ^^,)?

Yes I highly recomend making a back up copy of your SD card as the Adriod is going to make several folders and things on your SD card on the first bootup. This way you will know what was on there before you booted Andriod. I also suggest you flash radio version 2.15.50.14 as it is the latest radio version and it works good with Andriod be it SD or NAND. The radio is whaf controls certain aspects like your phone reception, voice quality, and such. Go the the master radio threadcthat is stickied in the HD2 Windows Mobile development forum here on XDA to learn more about it and you can download that radio version to flash there.

Ok, thaks alot for the help. I will give it a try after I backup the SD card. Any particular SD-card Android version you recommend?
edit: I found this list http://android.hd2roms.com/
Besides from knowing I want a SD version I am not sure which I should try. Just go for the one that was updated most recently?

Do you have a active data connection at all? If you have one then the APN is set for your carrier but if you do not then you will have to set up your APN settings. I do appologize as the only APN settings I know is the ones for US T-Mobile.So unless house are a US T-Mobile customer I do not know them. You can probabky Google your carrier or search g their web site and find the APN you need to enter. In Andriod go to Settings/Wireless and Networks/ Wireless connection (I think doing this from memory here) then touch on APN then press the Windows hard Start button and touchon add.

hey guys
What you see:
You see some Bugs that have to be fixed, you think about the way your are using the phone and set a personal priority.
What you don't see:
-Some Bugs are connected to other Bugs. If you start fixing G-Sensor for example, you also fix Lightsensor..
-Some Bugs need much more time to work on than others. If you want battery to be working perfectly, you will have to wait a loooooooooong time for other fixes. On the other hand some minor bugs, maybe headset i.e., could be done very quickly.(didnt look at it, yet)
-I, for example, can not work on one thing all the time, sometimes i have to switch between the issues
-you try to tell the developers what they have to work on. It could be that some of us have other, personally, priorities, that they want to work on. They do it in their free time, where they could satisfy their girlfriends and wifes
This is not meant as warning or something, just think of it
A Voting could be seen as a public-opinion poll.. but not as a directive for the developers

I believe most visitor understand your concern Schlund. They are happy you and other devs are working on it regardless the order. Maybe we can look at the poll as an exhaust of our hopes. And only look at it as a directive when you don't know what to decide yourself. So thanks again and keep on the excellent work!

it's my fault, i suggested the idea to tzacapaca
of course this poll is not a work order for devs, but it gives an idea of what is important to the common photon users, and what is less important.
it helps to put priority to the long list of bugs

i had the same. then i used a HARD reset and it works fine.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to put all the known bugs on:
http://code.google.com/p/photon-android/issues/list
And then the devs can update as they wish, so it means everyone can check what bugs exist easily, and also means we can see what the dev's are working on too.
It might stop the repeaded questions of "Is this not working?" as a Forum is good, but information can be lost easily or become snowed under. Atleast this site keeps it clean and accessable?
If you guys do want all the issues on that site, I'm happy to help put them on there... and if I ever do end up buying a new motherboard for my PC i'd be happy to help dev, I know C, C++, Java... would need help setting everything up ready to dev though.

True, but there is a difference from having it on a forum or in a table for a website, than having it on a project page. The project page allows them to put what progress the bug is in... it kinda brings the best of both, into one place.
The wiki page is good for a quick reference page of what is and isn't working... but it doesn't provide why its not working. The forum explains why its not working, but it is much more bulky and can easily be lost. It also doesn't state the progress of the 'project' unless it is maintained. Project pages tend to maintain themselves with very little input from the dev's...
In my experience(10 years of working in projects like games etc), the project page is always easier to update and use. Just my input anyway...
Feel free to add the issues to the google code page =)
In fact,I have only one sd card can work android.
It is a Transcend 8G(class2) card,my wife buy that card about helf years ago.
That card can work android very fine on my hd mini and my wife's.
But I have another Transcend 8G(class2) card can't run it.
So I think this android program still have some question.

that's true, but i created this buglist page before the photon project page was populated.
it is easier to follow on the project page, at the end all the issues shall be posted there. the problem is i could not find the time yet to re-write all the issues in the bug tracker.
so anybody feel free to copy the bugs from this page and populate the issue list, with as much as details as you can write.
(how to recreate the issue, what you expect, what you get instead, on which version, etc)
feel free to open new issues or bug reports as well, nobody will blame you for that, this is the usage of the page ;-)
at least be sure the issue does not exists yet in the bug listing and that you give enough details to understand it!
http://code.google.com/p/photon-android/issues/list
this way we can follow up what isses are pending and what issues have been fixed, and everybody can contribute to this, you can add your own comments to each separate issue and provide a workaround if there is one (today with the buglist on the forum, only me can edit the page, which is not efficient)
i count on you guys, you're part of the photon team
hi all,
i also wanted to add touch screen problem to the bug list...i know that dev's have already corrected most of the touch screen problem that we all were having in the early release and usually there are no problem with it...but while typing text messages or any thing with keypad it gets messy....when i type fast in WM there is no error in words...but in droid it occurs all the time..
so i used smart keyboard pro..it has an option that enables u to see what area u have touched while typing. The touchscreen calibration is still 10-20 % off from where the buttons are and it can't be corrected with the screen calibration option present in settings as i've tried it so many time.
i know its not a big problem and not a priority, all i wanted is to point it out. Maybe when all the major bugs like battery, 3g, etc will be fixed. Dev's can correct this one too..
THankz and thumbs up for everyone who's working and helping in making hd mini a fully workiing android device
