[Q] Cannot boot P1000L anymore after flashing ClockworkMod Recovery - Galaxy Tab General

I followed the instructions from the tutorial of the wiki of Cyanogenmod:
wiki. cyanogenmod. com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_%28P1000L%29:_Full_Update_Guide
After finishing the flash of the section "Installing the ClockworkMod Recovery" using the heimdall, my P1000L doesn't boot anymore, it just shows the static "GALAXY TAB" and the "SAMSUNG" logo below and never boots, I followed the exact steps of the tutorial, what could be wrong ? How can I recovery ? Any advice would be appreciated, great thanks!

The recovery process is in there...I guess you DID a backup, right? If so just load it again
Also try the advice of wipping the SD, but read carefully

Happened the same to me (but with a p1000), looks like that the CWM linked in the wiki tutorial is old or something like that.
Not sure and waiting someone to confirm it.
Btw, you can restore your gtab following those instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27362243&postcount=10
It's for p1000 but shouldn't change that much with yours.

Any news on this?
I got the exact same problem.
Thanks.

Hi, now you have the clockwork recovery installed, just turn on your tab by pressing the power button while holding the volume up, use any method to get the desired room into the SD card, and follow steps 5 to 10 of the mentioned guide, i recommend installing a rom released by HumberOS, because the ones on get.cm dont work for me at least.

Glad you got it worked out. I feel the same way. With the bootloop issues. But i know the solution is out there and hopefully a quick search will point people in the right direction.
I cannot get this to work, in clockwork recovery 3.0.0.6. i get several cant mount errors, nothing works im stuck without a phone any help would work. I went from a gorilla sense rom to a thunderbolt rom, worked for 5 minutes then shut off and went into bootloops and to where my problem is at now

Help with Clockworkmod Recovery needed!!

Hi guys, I'm new to this. I followed the exact instructions from Cyanogen Wiki on how to install Clockworkmod Recovery on a stock (2.2 Froyo) Vz Fascinate using Heimdall. I got the blue bar in download mode showing that 'recovery.bin' was successfully loaded onto the phone, but then when I try to boot in it (3-button method), I get the blue (3e) Recovery (probably the stock one). So, when I try to flash CM7, I get a "file verification failed" or similar message, probably because stock recovery doesn't allow custom roms. I have no idea what to do next. I've tried flashing clockworkmod again, tried again and again...same thing (I've also tried recovery boot from ADB, same thing, I get the blue (3e) recovery). I'd appreciate any help.

I take it you dont have a windows pc or else you would of tried odin? Also next time if you would, please post your questions in the q&a section. Thx!
Thanks for the reply. I just did it with Odin following your instructions, worked flawlessly. I don't get it why it doesn't work with Heimdall (and why CM folks use Heimdall). One thing though, I didn't remove the battery at all during the process . Thanks bro.

awsome! glad you got it working.
Thanks to you bro ...listen, I know this isn't the thread, but is it still possible to root the VZ Fascinate (now with clockworkmod recovery and CM7 gingerbread), because all I've found are old instructions that don't work anymore...can you please direct me to a method that works? Thanks a lot!
CM7 is pre-rooted.

Unable to boot into recovery using "Acer Recovery" from market/playstore

Hello. After updating my A500 to the official ICS rom, I easily rooted my tablet succesfully by downloading a program found on this website:
http://forum.tegraowners.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=350
Then, I downloaded an app from the market/play store called "Acer Recovery" wich lets you flash CWM recovery (which is built in into the app). The app said it flashed the recovery succesfully. Now, when I press the "boot into recovery" button I get stuck in the Acer logo and on the top left corner it sais in red: Recovery Failed
I would like to flash custom roms. What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks...

Which version of Bootloader are you running? The recovery installer app should tell you when you start it.
Also, which version of Recovery did you try to install?

Thanks for helping me out.
-Bootloader Version: 0.03.12-ICS
I tried installing the two only recoveries avaliable wich are:
-ClockworkMod Recovery rev1.3.4 by thor2002ro
-Stock USA 1.141.07_COM_GEN1 recovery
After flashing any of the two I click on "Reboot into recovery", it reboots but gets stuck in Acer logo and on the top left corner says:
-Recovery verified failed
I have the same problem too and I still couldn't find a way out
Firmware Specs are same as yours
I wonder if there is a simple way out
Anyone can help ?
Thanks
Ramp
Ok, both of you need to go to this thread and read over the info.
The reason why your recovery "might have failed" is probably because you didn't delete a certain file from your rom before you flashed your CWM. That is... "recovery.from.boot.p" in the system folder.
If you don't, every time you reboot your will lose your CWM.
Anyhow, read this thread. Everything you need is there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622425
And if you;re going to install some ICS Customs in the future, I advise you install a patched unlocked bootloader.
EDIT: One more important thing. Before you folks go off flashing and everything, PLEASE... Get your UID number now, and write it down in a safe place (like the box your tablet came in . If you tab gets borked up, it's the only thing that'll save it.
MD
As MD stated be sure to read that thread , once down reading it, re-read it , I would try using that method first ,it helps you learn , but if you want to go to this thread and it will be a whole lot easier :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1675939
I always tell people in here read as much as you can , read through the Android section as well!

Thanks, I did it as well with AfterOta, what a great tool. I am already rooted in ICS and have public recovery working. I'd like to try some custom roms. Is there any other step I have to complete before flashing a new custom rom?
Thanks again for the help

I would advise making sure you have at least Version 3 or higher of the unlocked bootloader. Version 4 is better as you can change the boot image. Also, with version 4 (and higher) you can flash any future bootloaders through CWM.
Also, make a system (nand) recovery backup before you go flashing roms. This way you have something to go back to if the flash doesn't go right.
part of the original problem you had was the recovery you tried to flash was an earlier version which doesnt match ICS , You can get the beta copy of Acer Recovery ,but you'll have to search for it , it also has updated ICS recovery listed

check your external sd card - make sure there is not an "update.zip" on that or your internal "sd card"
the writing you see on yr tab is ok you should be able to just
"reboot" the tab and be all good??
try running the afterOTA again....
PS >>> oh are you trying to flash the unlocked bootloader or rollback to HC??

Thanks for responding:good:, so I've tried using afterOTA again, although not the usb connection. I was trying to put recovery_twrp_2.1.3-ICS.img with apx mode, it restarted and gave PASS screen, but now is only on this screen, asking "update.zip", already put in external SD: Acer_AV041_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1.zip, FLEX-Resurrection_Rev1-Aroma-Public.zip, cwm_hc_ics_root.zip, and nothing.
I have this information:

Because, you still are running a stock rom,. more or less.
The problem happens, because you are re-booting after installing the custom recovery. And the rom you are running, is booting it to stock recovery (it's overwriting your custom recovery) which explains why it's looking for update.zip
What you need to do, is after installing your custom recovery, boot immediately to it Via adb, or shut down and boot using Vol- and PWR. Then install your custom rom.

keep in mind that flashing custom roms and recovery's REQUIRE the unlocked bootloader be flashed FIRST... I'd suggest apxFlash tool to do that....all u need is in civatos bootloader thread, pls read very carefully. do the first 4 steps and then use apxFlash tool to complete the process....if u don't do things exactly as written you'll end up in trouble....
good luck

Well there only 2 options really, I'd say TWRP is more user friendly, so i would recommend that to you, before installing a rom first read the instructions and make sure they haven't first recommend a recovery for that specific rom installation.
Once you have a custom recovery its very simple to switch between them.
Follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469995
It's an old method but is very easy. This will install twrp but an old version.
So before using the method above first download the latest twrp onto your phone, i don't know what version of the g2 you have so if you reply i can try point you to the latest, but if you search for twrp 2.7 for your phone you should find it. You want it in .zip format.
So after saving the file to your phone, go ahead and follow the instructions above, if it says it successful, try booting into recovery again, the same way you managed to format your phone but this time it should boot your recovery, then press install .zip and flash the latest twrp.
Then your ready to go! just follow the instructions for the roms you'd like and flash them.
Best of Luck!
