I posted yesterday on this topic but wanted to give an update.
I downloaded the cyanogenmod for my LG G2. The you tube video I watched as watch?v=tyBc45ScZzw. When I try to reboot into revovery mode all I get a black screen and little Android guy with a red triangle over the top and a exclamation point in it.

Any help as to what I am doing wrong to get into recovery mode? I actually factory defaulted yestersday and tried again and the same thing is happening.
Thanks for the help

Seems you haven't installed a custom recovery yet buddy, if you tried, you've failed.
First root your phone, then install a custom recovery, then try again booting into your recovery.
If your already on stock kk, I don't believe you can install a custom recovery yet, only root it. So you would first have to downgrade back to JB.

Well there only 2 options really, I'd say TWRP is more user friendly, so i would recommend that to you, before installing a rom first read the instructions and make sure they haven't first recommend a recovery for that specific rom installation.
Once you have a custom recovery its very simple to switch between them.
Follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469995
It's an old method but is very easy. This will install twrp but an old version.
So before using the method above first download the latest twrp onto your phone, i don't know what version of the g2 you have so if you reply i can try point you to the latest, but if you search for twrp 2.7 for your phone you should find it. You want it in .zip format.
So after saving the file to your phone, go ahead and follow the instructions above, if it says it successful, try booting into recovery again, the same way you managed to format your phone but this time it should boot your recovery, then press install .zip and flash the latest twrp.
Then your ready to go! just follow the instructions for the roms you'd like and flash them.
Best of Luck!

Hey guys I'm new to android had an iPhone for 6 years. Just got the gs4 two months ago. I rooted the phone took out bloat ware apps using titanium back up. Have a few other rooted apps. Got Interested in ROMs and kernels so did some research looked around on here to how to do it. I downloaded infamouses newest ROM. I have ROM manager and I downloaded cwm recovery through the Rom manager. When I go to back up my current ROM and everything it boots into recovery mode but it isn't cwm recovery. The emblem doesn't come up and I believe its the stock recovery. My question is how can I get the cwm recovery so I can back up my current ROM and then wipe it and install the new one. I'm new so sorry if this is easy or anything I appreciate all the help
Download goo manager and let it install twrp then just flash cwm thru twrp . Or keep twrp and remember to flash loki doki if needed.
Wait!
What firmware is your phone currently on? MDL OR MF3?
If MF3, stop now. Do not flash anything.

Okay I figured out the problems. When I hit reboot and superuser is supposed to grant root permissions an error comes up saying superuser has stopped working then goes into the stock recovery mode. The only thing I found with MDL in it was the baseband version 1337UCUAMDL
Your safe to continue flashing custom recovery on MDL Baseband

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Its so annoying I have tried goo manager and twsp recovery. And they all do the same thing.

Going on the information you have given, if you are doing right and using the correct version for your phone, GooManager and TWRP should be working for you. However, if you go to the development section and look for OUDHS CWM recovery, directions are given in the OP about how to manually install that recovery. Again, directions are in that thread about how to do it. I do hope you are reading all of every post that contains something you are trying to do (in other words, if you use OUDHS, read the entire thread first). Good luck.

Hey thanks for the help. I got twsp recovery through goo manager and worked perfectly. I'm having such a bad experience trying to install this rom. I went into the recovery mode after backing up my current rom and system. I wiped everything out then went into my sd card amd installed the zip that is listed in the infamous page in the developers part. I hit install and then said I'm not rooted and would I like to install superuser. I slide the thing and then went to reboot and now has been stuck saying samsung and custom with an open love under it. Pulled the batter went back into twsp and tried to reboot and still stuck. This is all after I thought I installed the rom already and nothing changed except wiped my phone. Can anyone help

Hello, first time poster. I recently tried rooting my phone using CWM method. I'm running sph-l720 with software version vpaumf9 and android version 4.2.2. I installed CWM (this version SPH-L720 OUDHS Recovery) with odin with success. Then flashed SuperUser v.099. Everything went smooth until I opened up super user and tried to install binaries and it says "Install failed". I'm wondering if I didnt have the wrong beginning firmware and i needed to (but didnt) install that pre-kernel. I'm also wondering if I have to download the original firmware and have to flash to stock in order to "unroot" even though I didnt finish the SuperUser process, or is their a way to delete the super user app and try to install it again using the same CWM i have already on the phone. I hope this isn't confusing. I'm not a complete novice to rooting, but no expert. I rooted my galaxy s2 but went to Iphone for a while, but now I'm back and a little dissapointed with myself at this fail. Any suggestions? Do i have to go to stock first? Was I using the wrong files for my initial firm ware and need the pre kernel? Am I blabbering on? (yes) Thanks in advance.

Grap CF-Autoroot from here
Follow the instructions here:
Boot back to phone. Open up SU and update binaries.
Then
Go to Playstore and download/install GooManager
Open GooManager and then press the 'menu' button (capicitive button next to Home Button) and choose to install recovery (I like TWRP).
Then let it do it's thing.
If you'd like a real easy way to get 'into recovery mode' from the phone I use the Quickboot app
Also make sure that if you are going to flash ANY ROMs you follow the instructions the developer suggests - many suggest specific recoveries be used

thank you! do i need to do anything before i do this? (Like using odin to revert back to stock?)
i ask because i already have CWM installed
I did the auto root, and open SuperSU and it doesnt ask to update binaries...does that mean it is already done. I didnt find the option in the settings.

As long as your on some kind of TW/Stock based ROM you should be Okay.
However if you want to go back to straight (AND ROOTED) stock you can use one of rwhilco12's 'one-click' restores.
The one click downloads as a zip. decompress and then run the one -click. If you've never run a oneclick read here
It will give you a stock ROM, rooted, MF9 Modem, Stock recovedry, and Stock kernel. You'll then have to use GooManger method to get custom recovery.

man thanks so much. so i definitly got super user access. I'm about to do the goo manager. since you suggested the twrp i think i'm going to try that. since i have CWM recovery installed, do u think that will create any issues if I go to install TWRP from goo manager
actually i googled and it seems that goo manager will seamlessly overwrite cwm. sorry for the questions before searching. appreciate the help. i almost didn't come on here, which would of lead me to reverting to stock, doing cwm again, then being upset that i needed twrm for most roms lmao. I owe u one. If u ever need to learn how to make bad decisions, just shoot me a pm. I got u covered.
No it will just replace it.
I actually (and many around here too) prefer TWRP 2.5.0.2.
You can download the zip for that here, boot to recovery you have now (CWM) and then install that. Or use Goo to install lates TWRP and boot to recovery and then install zip and choose the 2.5.02 you downloaded and then save to your sd card
scratch what i posted here. I ended up having to download ROMmanager and update CWM, then used CWM to install the zip you provided me. thanks so much man. Do you have a favorite stable ROM you recommend using TWRP. I value your advice

Glad you got it.
As for ROMs you really have to try them out for yourself. There are some really great TW ROMs ; Sacs, negalite, triforce and others. For CM/AOSP there are a whole bunch to choose from. I mess with just about all of them. But my daily driver has to be one hundred percent working and reliable so for that I'm usually on a stock debloated and modified TW ROM. Take some time to read through the OPs of the devs and just as importantly through the follow up posts to see what works what doesn't ahs how to fix or get what you need.
Good luck

Try this Rom!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327692&page=43
works great!
Greetings,
First I'm sorry if this isn't the right thread for this, I'll gladly delete and change threads if need be.
Second, I just got an LG G2 (Verizon) today. It's great but I want more so I rooted it, confirmed that it's rooted. But that's all I can do. I can't install a recovery app on here to save my life. I tried downloading the VZW recovery img and pushing that with the loki_flash but I got two errors mainly.
Input file is not a valid loki image and Loki aboot does not match device. I'm trying to run either TWRP or CWM, anything really so I can flash a custom ROM on this bad boy.
If the image is not a valid loki image I'm assuming I don't have the right pair of files? (loki/recovery) and if the aboot image doesn't match the device I'm assuming that I don't have the right loki? Are these correct assumptions or am I making an ass out of just me???
My phone is rooted, ROM Manager says I have both TWRP AND CWM on my phone but if I try to boot into recovery via ROM Manager or adb I get a black screen and nothing more.
Does anyone have ANY insight at all into how I can go about the next step?

Follow the install instructions for TWRP 2.6.3.2. Then after you've confirmed you can boot the OS from the recovery, place the 2.6.3.3 on the root of your SD. Reboot into recovery and flash 2.6.3.3. Reboot into recovery again and you'll be good to go.
Version 2.6.3.2 won't flash 4.4 ROMs but 2.6.3.3 will flash 4.2 (I'm assuming), 4.3, and 4.4.
Download FreeGee app from the play store and install TWRP recovery from it. It was the only way I could install it on my LG G2.

I downloaded any version of TWRP I could, there were only 2, one img of each version and one zip. I used the loki from the zip that came with it as well but still no go.

I used RussGJohnson solution and it worked in a matter of seconds. Now I'm stuck though. I wiped everything and can boot into TWRP but I have no ability to sideload anything. I have all the latest LG drivers, even the lastest android sdk drivers, nothing is working. If I boot up normally the LG logo comes up and just sits there.
I can boot into recovery using the whole volume down + power button combo but then when I go to sideload my computer isn't seeing the device. I'm on a Win 8 machine using the stock cable. I've tried both USB 2 and 3 ports
It's done
Using RussGJohnson's suggestion worked great.
The issue I had with being unable to sideload a ROM wasn't resolved but I just used my Mac to do it instead. That worked just fine. Win8 couldn't recognize the device while in recovery. Go figure.
free gee very fast
Use Flashify u n00b.

Installed TWRP
Without thinking (doink) tried to install the latest OTA.
OTA failed.
Now I cannot reboot into TWRP.
Installed ClockwordMOD and installed its own custom recovery. Still won't boot into any custom recovery.
Phone works fine other than that.
How can I get back into custom reccovery?
Note: When I turn phone off and try to reboot into custom recovery it takes me to the "reset" screen.. and then IT RESETS the phone.
When I try to boot into recovery from Clockwork or TWRP app it gives me the android robot with the open tummy and red triangle.

The OTA update installed the KitKat bootloader, which hasn't been hacked for custom recovery yet.

Oh. Not sure if AutoRec works if you are still on 4.2.2. Sorry bout that.
If it doesn't work, you can always just manually flash the complete firmware using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476. Surest way to get back from failed flashes. You can flash the full 4.2.2 or 4.4.2 KDZ and then start over again. That method wipes everything though.

I installed the latest TWRP recovery.
No matter which rom I try to flash to the system, the same thing happens.
I see that the Aroma installer is strarting and than it just resets for no reason, no install made.
The only sulotion I have found so far is to install a 5.0 stock rom via Odin.
I want to install a custom rom 6.0.1.
Does anyone know what the hell?

I tried to do the same but ended up bricking my phone. So then I try to unbrick/unroot my phone by flashing the stock rom but I can't do that either cause now it says "Volume Size is too big 4620288<4718599. Need help!!!! ASAP!
Hey guys, I had the same problem at first and it freaked me out too.
Try installing the older 2.8.7.0 version for TWRP through the app, instead of the latest or any other after v3 for that matter. Apparently I've read from other forums that it's due to lack of Aroma Installer Support.
Hope this helps
Confirm the phone's model # by booting into download mode befor flashing TWRP or a stock ROM from sammobile.com.

I flashed the stock rom packege with odin.
saved my phone after brick.
so you are saying that by downgrading the TWRP recovery i can use aroma insatller based roms again?
cause i also tried to install reserection remix rom (I think this has no aroma in it), i got a massage that said that i cannot install it as well.
refuses to let me change into anything but stock rom.
rooting did not help at all.

To be honest I don't really know about Cyanogen Mod, however this was just my personal experience with Aroma Installer. I've tried DarkWolf_FW and Aryamod ROMs which are both S7 Edge Port ROMs, and they both use Aroma Installer.
- Also! Take the opportunity to make a Nandroid backup just in case the installation goes bad, then you can restore to where you are right now. Honestly downgrading just worked for me so please don't make me liable if anything goes to pot, at least you will have a full device backup to the exact point in your system which I have found extremely useful when trying different ROMs and Kernels.

don't worry man
1. I always backup the whole phone before ANY change.
2. your suggestion sound interesting, cause i tried the same rom's you did but no install was made.
3. i'll maybe try a different recovery... maybe CWM.

Hey, just randomly thinking, did you reset all your System, Data and Cache and Dalvik Cache files before you tried to install the ROMs? Sorry, this might not make a difference, but I don't think I have any more advice to give (I'm kinda new to this too ).
Hope CWM recovery goes well, let me know how it goes

don't worry man
1. I always backup the whole phone before ANY change.

Doing a complete backup before anything is always the safest bet.
From my experience, TWRP 3+ is fine for CM and AOSP based ROMs.
TWRP 2.8.7-0 is the one you should use to flash ROMs using AROMA Installer.
If you read the OP (opening post) on any ROM forum, it will usually include installation instructions and generally states which TWRP version should be used.
Good Luck.

You just need download mode to flash it.

I presume when you say it doesn't turn on you mean it doesn't boot into the Android environment. Have you tried unplugging the battery and pressing the Volume Up + Home + Power Button? Yes... I was surprised you don't have to be an octopus too..
Then restore the Nandroid backup from before.
You can also flash TWRP through Odin without root, have a look at the TWRP website for more info.

all you need is to flush new stock rom via Odin.
Search the web (like I did) to find a stock rom with 4 .tar files in it.
There should be instructions on how to install but usually all needs to be done is this:
1. load odin 3.*
2. enter the phone in download mode.
3. After you see the line 'add' in odin, load the .tar files to the correct place each (not hard they are tagged by same name)
4. Flush and pray.
5. After a successful install the phone will reboot, this will take a while so don't get streesed.
after about 10-15 min the phone will load again.
Root one more time via odin and try to install again.
