I updated my Thinkpad Tablet to ICS and can't seem to find NFC or the Face Unlock setting. Am i missing something?
Face unlock is only for phones atm on ICS. NFC requires physical hardware to enable and TPT lacks nfc chip/reader/writer.

How to disable touchscreen on the Vega/Mobii device?
The reason why I ask is becuase touchscreen on my tablet was broken and doesn't work correctly.
(Sorry for my poor english )
If you disabled the touch screen, you wouldn't be able to use the tablet, so there is no way for you to disable it. If it doesn't work properly, just return it.

Wrong. It works with mouse.

Are you sure? You tried it?
If its broken and you cant return it I would open ir up and pull the connection for the digitiser that would disable the touchscreen. You could also try to fix it that way you can get replacements there was a discussion on modaco about replacing screens and digitizers not long ago.

Point taken. Still, it is obviously not designed to work that way. I have read that people are not seeing mice's pointers in their Vegas.
And believe me, I've tried all the ROMs and there is none which allows you to deactivate the touchscreen. Another thing is that you follow our colleague's suggestion and disable it hardware-wise.

I'm not sure about the right connector there, so prefer to do this by software.

Yeah, not any mouse will work with this tablet.
Generic 7 inch tablet
I know this is an old thread but it seemed like an appropriate one to use. I have a similar problem in that the digitiser is broken on a cheap Chinese 7 inch tablet running ice cream sandwich. It works with mouse fine so I tried disconnecting the touch screen. Unfortunately, pulling the connector leaves all the capacitive inputs floating which means thousands of random perceived touches all over the screen at once. I have the device in USB debugging mode so can see the touches everywhere. I've plugged the touch panel back in and managed to pinch the top right hand corner of the display enough to make it semi usable while I use the mouse and navigate through the menus etc. but this is no real fix. I'm keen to pull the touch panel off altogether and was wondering if there is a way to disable touch using USB debugging. I know little about ADB and SDK but am happy to follow my nose. I saw a post on another forum that showed a way to do it through a command line but don't know if the commands are device specific or not...
All the info I have on the device can be found here:
ebay.com/itm/7-Android-4-0-3-tablet-PC-MID-capacitive-screen-BOXCHIP-A13-1-5GHZ-4GB-WIFI-/380529621971?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item5899553bd3
The link was provided by the person who gave the tablet to me. (After he had broken it)
Any help on this thread or advice on where to find the answer on this forum or indeed where I should create a new thread if suitable would be greatly appreciated.
Well, for anyone with this problem, I managed a way of disable the touchscreen in a JXD S5800, but I think it could work in any other device, just always make a backup after testing anything.

is the shell method still working these days?

If you have root / su you can:
Code:
rm -rf /dev/input/event0
You need to check wich event[0-X] is the right one. On my phone it is event0.
Hi friends,
I've been thinking about if could be possible add nfc to our european models.
I tried to find chinese al10 rear case as repair piece so we might be able to convect to our phones (I dont know is our phone just dont have thr nfc label or also dont have nfc controller).
It might be possible to add other phones "labels" in this phone.
Other point is software, it might not have the drivers we could need ot we would need to flash the chinese rom...
So many wonders, my knowledge is so limited, but for me, thinking in payments, is the only thing I see to have my perfect phone.
Warm regards,
Nothing new?
I was thinking about the same thing for a few days but couldn't find anything, no help from others?
Does anybody know where the nfc antenna is actually located in the chinese version?
Thanks
I am chinese, I have a chinese version with nfc.
It almost useless because honor 7 nfc is on screen side .....
That's meam you put the some nfc tag on your phone , you can not touch you screen....
Nfc under the screen.... And in eu no nfc.... But but WHY!? ?
Because the Europeans are very, very, fussy and didn’t tolerate that! -->

IMHO, I just focus about payments capabilities, juat because of that i would like to add nfc.
I havent use that function yet in any phone, but android MM enables figerprint api, and so our phone fingerprint sensor is located in the backside, it could make sense if the nfc is located on the screen so at the time you approach the phone, you can scab your fingerprint
Maybe someone that knows how thar kind of payments works can bring feedback.
Regards

@chestermax ...where specifically on the screenside is the NFC antenna located? upper-left, lower-right, middle? Or having any references available to documentation where it's NFC location is drawn up?

Attached is a picture of NFC location. As is it obvious also from picture the NFC could be used only from front (screen) side of the phone. The back of the phone is metal and any antenna from that side is blocked. Therefore all other antennas (gsm, lte, gps, wifi) are placed on the top and bottom of device, where plastic edges replace the metal cover.
I bought these NFC tags from amazon http://www.amazon.in/LINQS-NTAG216-Stickers-Waterproof-Compatible/dp/B01DUG1FX6. My OP5 doesn't seem to detect them. I used trigger and NFC tools app from the playstore but none of them worked. Any suggestions?
Are you matching the tags to the correct spot on the phone? Try holding then up to the camera lense.

try asking in Q&A forum
Maybe you did this already but maybe you may have missed it. My phone came with NFC turned off. Check on wireless and network settings where it says more and check if NFC is on.

I almost completely forgot that the nfc antenna lies above the lens.

Yes. Because nfc only works through glass.
This post belongs in the question and answers thread.
You'll obviously get more feedback there.
Hi!
Since I`ve had it with HTC FP scanner, I`m willing to pay/donate/whatever 25€ for feature, that effectivley makes FP "DEAD" when in pocket (like gestures or edge sense).
FP has to be totally dead, it cannot wake the screen and it must not unlock the phone when correct finger is approached IF proximity sensor is blocked (in pocket or covered with finger).
Problematic screenshot: https://dl.xda-developers.com/4/2/3....png?key=TE1t1Ck2PtXFwA8Ih4py2Q&ts=1502032478
It can be:
* app
* kernel option
* you tell me
It has to be available to all, users and developers to use it as they wish in their roms or kernels.
Since we have many great devs that work their asses off for us, I`m willing to pay for this feature and hope that it can be done in a way, that we can all use it.
BTW, if someone else is willing to chip in, be my guest, I will add you to the list
Thanks!
I hope too that this gets some solution.
As far as I've dug into this whole topic, the sensor connections are now a big portion managed by nanohub firmware applications that are not part of the kernel code anymore.
Google replaced sensorhub with nanohub. It looks like it became very hard to get proper sensor states or hooks since this.
Same applies here as it seems to me. The proximity results are not channeled through CPU running kernel code.
I'm still looking at this, but even in the nanohub driver this didn't appear as processed data, looks like the different conditions are connected outside the kernel code.
While squeeze driver and touchscreen are also working correctly when pocket mode is detected, but this happens without the old ways kernel was doing a few years back.
I've checked the staging/nanohub and proximity drivers so far on kernel side, for a pointer.
You can disable "tap fingerprint scanner to wake phone" in settings. I was having a problem with it doing all kinds of stuff in my pocket till I disabled that. And I can still use fingerprint scanner to wake phone as long as I use the finger that I have scanned. Only that print will wake phone or screen.

Yes I know.
I`m using this right now.
But it still reacts on wrong finger or clothes, see screenshot, wakelocks are still there.
How??
What kind of clothes are you wearing that it triggers the FP scanner?
Or are you all day walking with your hands I in the pockets... Go work.. [emoji23] [emoji6]

I really don`t know why HTC devs made it like this so that you can unlock phone in pocket, it really doesn`t make any sense.

Hey everyone,
I seem to have a problem with my NFC It's not working AT ALL. I tried it with multiple NFC products such as my speaker and using android pay methods. None of them worked at all. If my NFC is fried and needs replacing and would I have take the phone apart just to get to the NFC to replace it?
I really don't know what's wrong with it. The phone says its connected and ready to go but it STILL doesn't work? Anyone got any suggestions. Sorry to be a a pain.
I use the NFC on my N6P for golfing. I had trouble finding the "sweet spot" and the mfg of the tags I use referenced a Reddit discussion. Apparently, the sweet spot is up near the camera bulge because the NFC won't work through the metal back of the case. You might give that a try.
