ICS: Can it run?

What do you guys think? can it run on the G2/DZ?
i think it might be able to. looking at the code, it might be able to run some things. plus, the galaxy nexus has only a 5mp camera. the G2 has a 5mp camera as well, so it could be capable of some ICS camera features, maybe all of it. i am keeping my fingers cross that ICS can work on this phone!

If it can run on both Nexus S and Nexus One, i don't see why not on G2?

Where did you get this info?

there was a basic honeycomb port a while back, and thats before we had a real source for honeycomb. Now that we'll have the ICS source, we should be able to run it. It'll just take time to get developers (and google) to have a working release.

Its already been shown running on the Nexus S.
If it can run on the Nexus S, it will definitely run on here. I'm ready for it.

honestly from looking at it id be willing to run just stock rooted ICS, without any sort of special ROM on top, it looks fantastic and if it happens ill at least make it one of my boots in boot manager, looks to be top notch and im so excited for devs to get it working on the G2! they have all of my support!

of course it can run on our visions and it will...........soon!!!!

Stock would just be fine with me! My guess is anything above stock, like a sense version of ICS, it will take up too much memory and perhaps slow the phone down.
I hope whoever (cyanogen? ) can get it running. That would be a great thing! I want my G2 to last one more year with the latest software. After that, the next nexus is what I will be aiming for

There were browser comparisons during the presentation that showed Nexus S with 2.3 and 4.0, compared to Galaxy Nexus on 4.0

its confirmed that nexus s is going to get it. also, according to Cohen and Engadget who asked him, any 2.3 device can run it (theoretically).

OK, I knew about the Nexus S, but Hawon also said it can run on the Nexus One. I was wondering where he heard that.

Unfortunately, we're all going to have to wait until sometime after the source code is released and the CM team can get it working. As far as an official update, I don't think so unless HTC itself posts an update.

I think you may be confusing the source code with the SDK. The SDK for ICS is out now, but the source code is not.

Well, SDK ports always blow but it will be fun to tinker with. That's the point of it though

Oh crud...I thought the sdk was what is used to the build the rom. Looks like, based on what everyone said, it will take awhile before we see a ics rom out

Also agree, except I never check general and wouldn't have known. This is definitely very good news. It's nice seeing my purchase decision affirmed by continued support, upgrades, etc.

Yeah it made my week too. I am really upset with Verizon, but that's not new, about the whole world having the Galaxy Nexus but not here. So, ICS on my Galaxy tab heals my wounds.

So hopefully in a couple of weeks we may see ICS on our tabs it will be great

flash is still going to be around bro. they have just stopped supporting mobile devices. we still have what is left behind and that will last us a lifetime.

Adobe announced that they have one more build release to add support for 4.0, but that will be it (aside from standard bug and security fixes I suppose).

Who knows if this will change in the future, but if any Android release in the future breaks this compatibility that might be it for Flash on mobile devices altogether.

too many devs will make up for them leaving. dont worry about that. we will always have flash on our devices.

Please show me where Steve stated that it is a CyanogenMod build. All he has said is that ICS is coming. Not CM9.

It's actually a huge detail. I for one will be happy just to see ICS, but ICS will pale in comparison to CM9.

Why wouldn't it be a cm build? The only reason we don't have one right now was because of the source not being released for honeycomb and cm doesn't downgrade devices. Shoot, cyanogen now works for Samsung, so they'd have a business incentive to get ics on the gt10.1 fast (albiet unofficially) considering it's their flagship tablet.

Congratulatons! This will definetely help to build full-working ICS build for the Atrix. This kernel is 2.6.39, the same as the ICS leaked rom for the Atrix. Now we have kernel sources from LG and proprietaries for a kernel with the same version from the leak. I hope the developers can easily put them together

Why? "That ROM" got around more than two weeks ago and no improvement have been made from it to another ROMs, in fact "that ROM" have been worse that those ported.
Now the kernel is a good thrust, but... What about drivers (camera, fingerprinter, webtop)? AFAIK, LG Optimus 2X doesn't have that hardware which will continue relegated.

it was just my idea. as i know SGY is the successor of Gt-s5301. (correct me if i'm wrong)
gt-s5301 is already has ICS update.
i think with the help of the our geniuses here. they can make ICS running on our SGY's

Thats because they are a big company and mean business. Once they have sold their product they are least bothered unless our could cause a potential cause to their image or sales. N not only samsung, other OEMs do the same.

That makes no sense the galaxy exhibit came out in may 2013 with 4.1.2 i based my source of oliverg96 for s3 mini changed a few blobs and then 4.2.2 booted I just don't get why our device isnt getting 4.4 . How come the ace II gets it . The galaxy exhibit t599v is a canada version of exhibit called ace IIe so its weird they would leave these phone off the list we have 3 variants of the exhibit.I dont believe anything that is not from sammobile. It says that it may Samsung galaxy s 3 mini MAY get the update, it's not sure. I read somewhere that s3 mini will get an update that will contain s4 features. This was about 6 months ago. I can't understand why iPhone got ios 7 immediately and we will have to wait years!

The iPhones aren't so different as the android smartphones There are just about 10 devices which get the update. On android we have some more devices.
PS: I saw an article in German that says, KitKat comes out in october. It says nestle said it on facebook.

STE doesn't exists anymore. So there's no producer support for our board anymore. Samsung would have to make whole, realy whole, from the beggining. Maybe I can help you with that, which commits are you referring to? I'm no specialist either but maybe we can find them on the internet.
