If you're a Galaxy S3 Mini user and really want to get Kitkat on your phone then your in luck! I saw an article about Samsung updated their Linux Kernel which is optimized for low memory or low spec phones!
READ THE ARTICLE HERE:

Omg, if that is true is such a great news! Finger crossed guys!

That makes no sense the galaxy exhibit came out in may 2013 with 4.1.2 i based my source of oliverg96 for s3 mini changed a few blobs and then 4.2.2 booted I just don't get why our device isnt getting 4.4 . How come the ace II gets it . The galaxy exhibit t599v is a canada version of exhibit called ace IIe so its weird they would leave these phone off the list we have 3 variants of the exhibit.I dont believe anything that is not from sammobile. This is my phone

It says that it may Samsung galaxy s 3 mini MAY get the update, it's not sure. I read somewhere that s3 mini will get an update that will contain s4 features. This was about 6 months ago. I can't understand why iPhone got ios 7 immediately and we will have to wait years!

STE doesn't exists anymore. So there's no producer support for our board anymore. Samsung would have to make whole, realy whole, from the beggining. They don't have any reason to spend money to develop for "cheap" devices. So sorry guys, don't get excited. I don't think so it'll happen. Similar news was published about 4.2.2. Did we received official 4.2? Nope

Yes.
Galaxy S, in the eyes on Samsung, has fulfilled his purpose.
But in XDA eyes, it still has a lot to offer!
If you are too afraid to flash an ICS rom on it, you should probably do yourself a favor and throw it to the trash can and buy an iPhone, that gives you plenty of features to afraid (and rich) people.

The value pack is available for the SGS, and is a really cool firmware - possibly the best firmware until now from Samsung.
This is for the international version. Possibly a similar package for other regions and operators.
Since that ROM was leaked, no other leak for the i9000 for long time. I don't expect any other ROM for the SGS from Samsung.
There are some developers here working on the ICS for the SGS. At this point, the only think we're asking from Samsung is to release the source to support the continued development.
it is leaked for SGS only i think not SGS + as i m SGS+ user i didn't find that so it is new for me.there are also less roms for SGS+ and till now there is no ICS rom (unofficial) for SGS+ so for me its bad experience with samsung

And you can ask anyone devs here in xda are wayyy more talented than manufacturer's... meaning custom roms performs wayyy better than stock roms... and you will be updated as soon as any change in aosp code happens go ahead and void your warranty xD.. there's always methods to go back to stock

Trust me when I tell you, I know. I am running ICS on my Samsung Epic device, which only supports GB. LOL.
No matter how good our developers are, they still need Samsung to do their part. FOR EXAMPLE... Take a picture with your 10.1 using ANY ICS ROM that our developers have put together. Plus, to be completely honest, we shouldn't have to count on our NON-PAID, VOLUNTEER devs to make the software everything that it SHOULD HAVE BEEN when released from Samsuck.

I am in the same boat as you. I should of learned with the Captivate how they do things in regards to updates but I didnt. The only way I will still buy a Samsung product is if they are making the next nexus phone or tablet. That way factory images will be provided and then I can just flash the updates myself and not have to wait for them to update it for me.

Well, that's a new one. I thought most people here bought the i9500 because it was the only one sold in their countries, but I guess some actually willingly expose themselves to the utter torture of owning an exynos device, knowing the low dev support it has and will continue to have.
Porting something from a Qcomm device to exynos won't be easy, if possible at all. You'll have to wait until CM publishes a nightly for the i9500........whenever that happens....

Yes this is really annoying to be forced to buy the model that Samsung decides to sell in each country. But geeks can always buy the version they want...if they really want ! Most of us have friends in another countries or know people who travel a lot. However, in this case, we cannot benefit from plans nor warranties...

I agree
http://www.android.com/kitkat/
It is said wide range of devices will be getting it... Sooo what do you think? Maybe after all those news about our device ending on 4.2. and lately new unconfirmed info about getting 4.3, we'll see 4.4 on our s3 mini...
I'm interested how much KitKat had to pay Google for this name of Android

Or other way around... They say they dropped Key Lime Pie name cause not many people know its taste... But KitKat is worldwide famous chocolate and there you go
Trademark issues? Not to worry, as Google got Nestle's blessing to use the "Kit Kat" trademark (albeit without the space), but with a twist. John Lagerling, director of Android global partnerships, explained to the BBC that "this is not a money-changing-hands kind of deal," but instead, they wanted do something "fun and unexpected."

We not yet get official 4.2 update and you guys expect 4.4 running on our device? Keep dreaming...
noe4516: even S3 will not receive 4.2 but directly 4.3, maybe directly 4.4 if there is no problem with drivers.
I still have faith.

to kickback people's expectation and rumors that the next Android version was Key Lime Pie?
you know, the name "KitKat" is a very big thing, because in the past, we called it "Key Lime Pie". a major kickback
I think 4.1.2 is as far as we can get with this device. Sorry...

This phone is currently running 4.2.2
I keep reading that people claim the Samsung S3 mini does not run 4.2 officially. But I just got one yesterday from AT&T.

Android version:
4.2.2
Baseband version:
G730AUCUAMH4

Yes, I am confused about the difference between the GT-I8190 and the SM-G730A. Does anybody know what the difference is, I don't understand the model number difference, the hardware all seems to be the same. My phone is the blue one, not the white, does the color have anything to do with it (that wouldn't make sense to me).
If you look at my post (post #16) you'll see in the build version it says the kernel was released Aug 21st.
Difference is in CPU.
While I8190 has ST-Ericsson CPU, SM-G730A has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon. And bigger battery.
And this is why we probably dont get 4.2 or 4.3, because ST-E does not longer exist. So no new drivers for our CPU. Maybe, just maybe Samsung will make those drivers themselves, but that depends if ST-E gave them everything before they closed.

So, did I get lucky by buying the SM-G730A, what you are telling me is that my processor and battery life (as well as support) are better than the I8190? I was confused when I kept seeing everybody calling their S3 mini the I8190 because that's pretty different to my model number, I would have guessed they would have made the model numbers much closer to easily recognize the similarity.
