I really can't think of a better way of replying to "will be on galaxy s jelly bean port for the great phone"...should I say "am on galaxy s ice cream sandwich port for the great phone look forward jelly bean port". I'm really sorry for straying off topic.

Cheap thread . Sources are out middle of July, Jelly's faster and spicked with more features than ICS. Shouldn't be hard for our devs to update, but it'll take several weeks till the sources are out.

Well in all seriousness, this "project butter" featured in 4.1 is looking very appealing to me. If this Jelly Bean OS all goes well, I might not have to buy a new phone for maybe another year?

it incorporates smooth UI feature pioneered by developers here on xda.also something about CPU and gpu working together and not fighting for resources.
nexus 7 tablet is reasonably future proofed I think btw.except for maybe the ram.

4 Nvidia cores are as good as 1 Intel core. If they release their mobile CPU, this will be a bomb.

i have read that google will provide JB lite due to ics is to heavy for mid end and old phone like our sgs. if it true and we are lucky maybe we get official rom for android 4.1 from samsung. they still provide us GB update untill now because they say that sgs cant support ics. but dont expect much...

Yet another proof that upgradind sgs to ics wouldnt be impossible because of specs, but major economic waste-why upgrading 2yr old phone to latest android when there are already 2 newer device versions out....there are lots of work with porting such a thing, they would waste lots of money because sgs ist best seller for looooong time now

Wait for the time to come. Its the only one we can do now. Maybe i'll buy one of the next sony android. But this lovely walkman will be my first android and i'd like to keep it anyway....
Sung to you by a walkman.....
Thats the spirit!!! I am personally not going to waste money on a new phone just because it has a better android. This one is good for me for now and I love it more than others I had before. And afterall we will port it one day (I mean you not me XD- but who knows .. I started to learn now more about developing).
My W8 is my first android phone, and it won't be my last. I'm not selling it. IMO xda is the final word on what android version we can have on our phones. But if the devs in xda say it's impossible to port X android version to our w8/x8 then that's when i'll change phones.
But i ain't parting with my w8, locked bootloader and all.

From GS3 to Galaxy Nexus back to Gs3

So I sold my GS3 for a Galaxy Nexus because I wanted to experience Jelly Bean. Well after a week I'm back and heres why.
1. Screen bigger and better
2. Camera much better
3.phone felt much snappier(although I wasn't on Jellybean)
4.volume much louder and crisp
5.GSM Nexus had no LTE and below standard HSpa+ never over 6 mbps
So if your in to specs I say the Gs3 is the place for you.
Also if buying the Nexus off craigslist make sure it's able to receive the update the one I bought was on the wrong radio and was told it would not which Is why I sold it too.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Well, not to be bashful or anything, but I figured going with the GSIII was a given. Jelly Bean may be great, but it's not going to do anything to get the GNex up to GSIII standards. And no worries, GSIII will get it's fill of Jelly Bean goodness soon enough.
I had the galaxy nexus, I want on JB, I have no regrets switching.

No it won't. Official ics only just now rolled out for some sgs2 phones. The SDK was released in October of last year.
You might get some carrier leaks (buggy asz shiz) or cm10 (less buggy) but that will probably be many months.

Very little time = many months?
If you mean like a month or so, where do you come up with that bs?
The numbers speak clearly - look up froyo to gb, or gb to ics timeline.

Look up the change log and structure between those earlier android versions then go look at jelly bean compared to ics. Believe it or not the change isn't a complete overhaul, they meant for it to be that way.
Ps. there is already a beta jellybean on the international version, and we got cm9 and aokp within the first few weeks of the phone being out, the s3 is a whole nother beast compared to the s2

I really wasn't interested, if you haven't guessed yet.
I was making a point about JB not being easily ported compared to ics or gb.
Im no dev but the majority of ICS porting applies to JB. Under the hood they are very similar. Google Now, the new voice software, and the triple buffering (kernel level stuff) are the major differences. Google now is an APK and the voice isn't requiring a lot of work either I'm sure.
If we don't have a fairly strong jb aosp in a month I would be surprised.

I think it's pretty obvious that the jump from GB to ICS is what took so long. imagine trying to get all your current apps and data and customization to work with a new OS with zero hiccups and nothing lost. ICS is so completely different from GB, I'm not surprised it took so long. The jump to JB from ICS isn't nearly as large, as some people have pointed out. I'm banking on us getting it early Q4.

CM 10 doesn't require a bunch of new drivers or official blobs from Samsung so it should be rewrite of code and implementing the apps and such. If the SGS III got AOSP ICS in weeks I'd say cm 10 might be weeks away from the point source was released. I'm not positive cause I'm not on a computer, but I think Steve Kondik (Cyanogen) has the SGS III for T-Mobile. I'm no where near a PC (just my phone til Monday)... if he is on the device as the main team member, we are looking at great nightlys and then some.

2) When ICS is released for the Atrix the ICS drivers will be used for JB
3) Stop raging and just be patient... I paid 300€ for a phone that kicks many more expansive phones, with a badass dock. I'm waiting for the ICS update, but you can fully enjoy it with a stock/Blur ROM.

Look at my signature. This ROM has all the features my Nexus 7 has. I can do everythingJB has to offer except camcorder and there is a work around for that. I'm not a huge fan of the fingerprint sensor or webtop and I do not film with my phone.
Once you try JB it is very hard to go back to any previous Android OS. So, even if ICS gets officially released, I will not go back to any ICS based ROMs. I really hope whatever the devs can scavenge out of this official firmware can be used to make JB based ROMs even better.

Not necessarily.
Today I installed CM10 because I had to do some testing. I did a nandroid backup of my current setup (CM7.2-based) and I did a restore as soon as I was done testing. Don't get me wrong, everything worked fine, I think it was just a too big of a leap for me and I didn't feel comfortable on it as I do on a GB ROM. So yeah, just like everybody else I'm also waiting and hoping there will be an official ICS release, but I definitely won't be the first one to jump to it.
Sorry for off-topic.

Android 4.2 Key Lime Pie Information

Hello,
Seems like Google's busy again huh?
Notable new features:
-Google Now enhanced
-Google Play enhanced
-Stock Video Player updated
-Project Road Runner to increase your battery life 3 folds
-and more!
Hopefully these improvements do not require any help from Samsung? Gawd if a new hwcomposer is needed etc then we will be out of luck since Samsung probably will ditch us after 4.1...
Let's hear your thoughts.

I find it hard to believe that road runner will be implemented to every device that gets the update. Nexus devices most certainly (they get everything) but I think the development to bring that to every device that's able to receive KLP will be too great and time consuming.

It is very possible it could be ported but if it is and there's no official release from Samsung for the i9100 its going to be very hard for the devs to pull apart the sources from another device, (say the i9300) and try to merge it together for ours. Most likely miss alot of key features. Like with JB devs cannot manage to get butter working, and their only hope is when JB is officially released, but even then there's rumours going around that the s3 won't even have a properly working project butter.

You're right. I hope project road runner isn't affected by our exynos...

I posted about.key lime pie last month. and my thread was closed.. yes until we have a rom based key lime we r not supposed discuss abt it here..
The LG Optimus Nexus will be a monster of a phone with that quad core Krait. There really isn't much reason to buy any other phone for the foreseeable future, unless you want a 13MP camera which the Xperia T ably provides.

I don't think the majority of flash addicted people on xda will worry to much about the camera quality, but more about the power, support and development that all nexus phones bring.

Precisely my point. If the LG is the only Nexus device released this time round (rumors point to 4 other devices by other brands), I can see XDAers gobbling up the LG Optimus Nexus.
The choice is much easier this time around, unlike the Galaxy Nexus which wasn't that much better spec wise than its contemporaries.

If project roadrunner is all about the efficiency of the usage of the soc, then it might not work on exynos devices too.

There's rumors of it as well, but personally at this current point in time I feel that the rumors for the LG Optimus Nexus are more "concrete",if that's the word for it.
Androidauthority has a write up on it:
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-nexus-2-plus-gt-i9260-here-what-we-know-118932/
The specs don't look encouraging. It seems to be only a slight upgrade over the old i9250, and is packing a dual-core A9 CPU.
Now, I realize that not everyone goes for specs, but I'm a specs guy and the Optimus Nexus is the most exciting phone for me in quite a while. :fingers-crossed:

AFAIK, nobody knows how exactly it's supposed to work right? Maybe it's a rework of the software internals? If I have to guess, maybe it's a radical rewrite of the Dalvik VM to make it much more efficient, or aggressive optimization of Android OS itself.
There will be multiple nexus phones. Don't you guys read the latest news? The nexus program will see huge changes.
