I called ATT this am and got the correct LTE plan and verified I have the new LTE sim that came with the S3. I live in the bay area and get LTE on my iPad in 90 percent of the time. I only get LTE on the S3 about 20 percent of the same places. I did some comparisons with the iPad 3 and the S3 stinks at acquiring or keeping an LTE connection. At work and home I had no problems staying connected to LTE but out and about it was only connected to 4G most of the time. When I have LTE on the S3 it is as fast as the iPad. I have rebooted the device etc and it does not make much difference.
I am at my friends place now where my iPad always has 2 bars LTE. The S3 will not connect to LTE just 4 bars 4G.
I have yet to NOT see LTE on my device.
San Antonio, Tx.
Yea I'm getting anywhere from 20-40Mbps over here in Dallas, but unfortunately there seems to be issues with it flip flopping between LTE and HSPA+ because my battery drains fast while on the mobile network.
Cell Standy is at 72% :/
I agree. I'm not sure what the non-lte symbol even looks like. I have only run speedtest once, but I was getting 24 mbs downstream. It just depends on your location.
Im in Berkeley and saw 28Mbps today consistantly on sgs3. maybe yours is busted.

Nice. In Poland LTE working fast only in bigger cities.

The best I ever got with verizon LTE with 5 bars right next to a tower is 33mbs DL and 15UL. Yet with 3/5 bars you get 38/14. And I bet it never just drops too. oh why verizon WHY. With 3/5 bars on verizon I avg 8-15mbsDL and 2.5-11mbsUL, with the best being 24/15.
There are times were my H+ S2 can flat out beet my droid RAZR in youtube video loading and keeping it a flowing.
P.S I had no idea Poland had LTE. It's it any good?
NICE. That's a tad bit faster than my FiOs too.
I'm in Hawaii and we always get things last. LOL.

For the few seconds I had data on with my prepaid plan few minutes after I landed, it was pretty fast, then I had no money eft on my account to call lol.
I didn't check speeds, but it was pretty damn fast. But I was in the capitol at the airport, so it will always be faster lol. But even 3G is pretty fast back in Poland. America is way behind on mobile data.
@OP , Im in Harford, best I ever got was 8Dwn 1Up on HSPA+, wife has LG Nitro HD LTE, will have to give it a try. Was told by a Best Buy Mobile Rep we should be getting LTE any week now. 2 ATT customer service reps on the phone coulnd find a date, but said all LTE markets should be done in the next 2 months.
--in the meantime Im throttled to Edge speed for going over 3GB, I know theres an APN switch for 4G SIM Users, but I'll have to wait.
---GT-P6200 by the way. Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus (from Malaysia) HSPA+ and voce calling on Honecomb 3.2
awesome!! Faster than my dsl :/
wow! I wish I had these speeds!
faster than my H+ S2, My Droid razr on 4GLTE and my TWC ISP. I would have to add them all up to get what you get. LOL

Japan started using 3G in 1998, whereas the US started it in 2002. Also, check this out too: http://en.teknoblog.com/communicati...cell-3g-is-faster-than-4g-networks-in-us.html

I agree, and even though they say Turkcell has one of the fastest networks available worldwide, and Steve Wozniak's thoughts about the network, I can't really say that its that fast because I used the same network for 4 years. Maybe it was the phones I used, who knows?
Hi,
how about the ping? is the ping always constant 40-50? or also sometimes 100+ or 20?
thx
For those that had LTE prior to jumping ship to the Nexus 4 are you missing it? I mean I currently have the Iphone 5 through AT&T with LTE coverage and I must say it does feel nice be quickly stream video instantly life for example Youtube videos don't buffer at all for me. I think that is the only negative thing for me in regards to switching over but I would like to hear from anyone else as to if its LTE really a game changer or have or have' got used to live with out LTE anymore.

Well from what I have heard LTE works with Nexus 4 on AT&T but someone can correct me on that as I'm up here in Canada. I have noticed a big diff in streaming and what not but my speeds on 3G were manageable compared to what I hear ATT 3G is like?
Plus those with their Nexus 4 on T-Mobile's HSPA+42 are getting close, or even higher than LTE speeds so they're not entirely unsatisfied. I personally don't have LTE, but those are just my 2ยข

What I have read so far that LTE is only available if you live in an area that has AWS band 4 for AT&T which in my case I don't live in such area so no the nexus 4 might have an LTE chip but is half baked so this is why I posed the question as to those who would be leaving LTE behind for the nexus 4 are you satisfied with drop in data speed?
Phoenix, Raleigh, San Juan, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Chicago, Charlotte. Also Athens, GA and College Station, TX.
This doesn't mean that AT&T's Band 4 LTE network is actually live in these markets.
LTE tariffs in the UK are a joke. Loads of money for tiny data caps. I am on unlimited data 3g and I regularly top 20mb down. Happy as Larry.

As I'm on wifi 99% of the time I rarely use LTE on my Rezound. Only thing I did notice is that when Verzion updated the towers in my area for LTE I finally got decent reception in my house.
I had a Thunderbolt when Verizon's LTE network went live so I was one of the few that got to experience the 50mbps speeds before the network was as big/full as it is now.. And really T-Mobile HSPA+42 in Chicago isn't the worst thing in the world. Hell I was getting by on AT&T GoPhone speeds for a while.. It really isn't a huge deal. Also AT&T band 4 LTE is only confirmed live in like, Oklahoma.

Are you in an area where T-Mobile has already activated LTE and using the HTC One ?
Please post speed test results here. With T-Mobiles lte network being new and being built to LTE Advanced instead of regular LTE I'm sure a lot of people want to know what speeds are going to be getting when LTE comes to them.
Thank You
I would like to know that too. Also, did any of the notorious tmo weak areas fill in with better signal strength with lte? We have the Swiss Cheese of Carriers in a lot of areas.

Woke up this AM to see that the letters "LTE" appeared under my 4G connection status. I immediately ran speedtest.net and found
17.3down and 7.8up. This is ~ 3 x what I was seeing on HSPA. I worked in our downtown location today and the LTE letters haven't been here at the time of this posting. So yes it appears they are testing LTE geographically on their towers here. Keep it coming!

I don't think LTE has rolled out in Chicago yet. Not sure when it's coming. I get between 5-15mbps depending on where I am in the city.
Just bought a new Galaxy 4 and i'm only getting 3g in my house. As of yesterday with my 3D HTC, I was still getting 4g.......anyone know the answer to why i'm getting worse signals??
The evo 3D only did the slow old 4G called wimax the new S4 uses LTE a new type of 4G that is 5 to 10 times faster than the old 4G it is slowly rolling out so be patient you can only use the new 4G on the S4.

Ha.. not the first salesman to lie, probably won't be the last.
I am in Tampa as well and when the phone is in cdma /lte mode, I get the 4g icon quite often. The problem is that date is very slow or non existent while on 4g. So I keep it on cdma only now.

Thanks for the reply from someone in Tampa....do you know when we are getting full LTE coverage? the salesman told me I could at least still get the 4g winmax coverage. Also, I head the phone doesn't have the icon for LTE so there is not way of knowing if we are in LTE....is that correct?
I have the galaxy s4, so I do not connect to the old wimax 4g. When my phone is showing a 4g connection, its LTE. However, Like i said, it's not fully implemented, at least that is my guess. Because date speeds are VERY slow or nonexistent even when show full bars with a 4g icon. I have seen the 4g icon in many places around tampa, but, 3g is faster so I leave the LTE mode off. As for when LTE is scheduled to be fully on, I don't know. I've been getting the same answer for a long time. "by the end of the year", is what they told me most of last year.
The GS4 does not have a wimax radio, so you can not pick up a wimax signal, only LTE. If it displays 4g, then you are getting an LTE signal.
You can use sensorly app on your phone to get a map of LTE in your area thats done by users.

I got a Nexus 4 after trading away my Blackberry Z10 which I have been using for the past year or so and I rooted it yesterday and flashed a couple of LTE-capable radio zips. Unfortunately, the best modem only shows 2 bars out of 4 when on 4G LTE when I am indoors and at most only 3 out of 4 bars when I am outside.
I did a speedtest outdoors and I am only getting 10-15 mbps at most which is not significantly different from what I got with just HSPA+. I used to own a Motorola Atrix HD LTE and I got speeds of over 20 mbps on that phone before it got stolen (similarly with my Blackberry z10).
Does anyone know if this is normal for the device? Or is it just my network is bad?
Thanks.

The bars are not mobile data. That's your voice side. The E, 3g, H, H+ etc is your mobile data.
LTE on these things is only band 4 and is not officially sanctioned. If your carrier doesn't use band 4 for LTE, you'll never see it.
Are you a T-Mobile customer?
i constantly get 62mbps download speeds in my area, lte. your data speed is influenced by how busy the network is, and how far from the tower you are on. oh, and btw, i get hspa+ speed around 40-41mbps download. just because your h/h+ speeds are similar to your lte, it means nothing. it means thats the results of how busy your network is and how far from you the tower is. there are places that i get higher h+ speeds than lte. but your lte upload speed will almost always be much more than h+.

Just curiosity but which lte hybrid modem are everyone using? I cant figure which one 'are the best' like you said OP. Simms22 is absolutly right. Lte connection and speed depends on your local area. There are some people out there who hasnt lte connection at all (like me)
I use the older 33/84 hybrid radio
