[Q] Marketplace keeps saying my software is outdated - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

I'm having troubles with the Marketplace on my WP7.
I installed the HD2 Updatable XBmod Yuki v2.1 rom on my HTC HD2 and installed some new updates with Zune. I currently have OS version 7.0.7392.0.
At first my phone asked for an activation key when I tried to install a new application. I called Microsoft and filled in the activation key they gave me.
Now when I try to install a new application following messages pops up:
"You need to update your phone using the Zune software on your computer. Some Zune and Marketplace experiences may be limited until you have updated."
When I connect to Zune and check for updates it says that my device is up to date.
I've read tons of threads and forums about installing application without the marketplace (e.g. Developer Unlock, ...) but that's not what I want. I just want to be able to downloads apps from the Marketplace.
Is there anyone who has experienced the same problem and who was able to fix it ?
thnx

7392??? current version for yuki rom is 8107 with 8773 coming soon from ms. you need to update wp7. the apps on marketplace probably needs current wp7 to even install. update your wp7 via zune or through the manual update cabs provided by yuki. read both yuki threads.

[Q] 7720, Zune upgrade, Windows Live ID

I've followed the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17205291
and stopped at the step 14. Thus I've just flashed my HTC HD2 from WM6.5 to WP7, upgraded via Zune to 7.10.7712.60.
Questions:
(1) I want to keep ability to upgrade my HD2/WP7 through Zune in future (no manual pushing of cab-files).
Would I be able to do that if I now did the optional steps 15.-16. and apply cab-files to upgrade to HD2-7720 (WP7 Mango)?
(2) For the moment I cannot activate my Windows Live ID. My device is currently identified as HTC HD2 (Settings -> About) and I cannot apply chevronwp7.exe to modify model name (it works for 7004/7008 only).
Can I call to Microsoft to obtain activation code? Or should I first change model name somehow?
(3) I want to develop apps for WP7 and guess it's better to jailbreak the device.
Can I do that with 7712/7720 (e.g., with WP7 Update Cab Sender or Application Deployment included in MS Windows Phone Developer Tools)? Or the only way is to re-flash WP7 from the beginning: to 7004 (or 7008), crack with chevronwp7.exe, change model name, upgrade again to 7712/7720?
Thanks,
Michael

2. this no matter... in registry is HD7 info and you can activate Live services without problem... you only give Name and phone number to microsoft... nothing else
3. ROM is already jailbreaked... dont forged to do hard reset when done upgrade to 7720...
@dxdy
Thanks for the clarification.
Regarding 3.
If it's jailbroken, does it mean I can install apps directly without Windows Marketplace? How? What else can I do (e.g., access file system etc.)?
yes, use Tom XAP Installer

[Q] How to get the latest Mango official release

So it's out, but only for some users.
Im currently with NODO and doest want to mess with the back to the future procedure.
Zune tells me my phone is up to date.
I have tried the disconnect trick - no success.
Anyone here managed to get it to work?
I'm in the same position, same phone set up and rom, just tried the Zune trick about 30 times and no joy. Am UK based on Virgin. The suspense is killing me
Me too
I've tried the trick with both with WIFI, and Cellular stick several times.
I'm from Israel on Orange.
Do you think carriers have something to do with that?
same here US T-Mobile
The "back to future" process has been simplified making it less risky if i may put. I wasn't too sure of myself either whether i could get it done. But then after several reviews found it simple and got it running.

What exactly do you mean by simplified? I installed Back to the Future V 2.0 and connected to Zune and let it update to 7392. I didn't want to mess around with all that other stuff. It was too confusing and I decided to just wait for the official release. So, since I just have 7392, which I installed via Zune, over the foundation of Back to the Future ROM, I assume that I will be able to update to Mango via Zune too...am I right here?
Goy it!
I was missing 2 things:
1. Device provisioning cab
2. patiance at the 6th step (Restarting) it takes alot of time
I don't know if this is a help to your problem but try to change your location to the US in zune profile. I did this and got no problem updating the rom through Zune.

Yes you are right but since I didn't opt for that I can say much about that.
This is what i did to get to 7720 RTM Yuki-Xbmod
since you are on 7392 i believe you know the beginning.
What you need:
Yuki native v2 (7004)
7004-7720 (one shot)
wp7 update cab sender.zip(wp7 cabsenderwinxpfix.zip -if you're using win xp-read further on this in the thread)
Device provisioning.cab
You must have zune
All in first post of Yuki-Xbmod "Back to Future"
Steps:
1.Install Yuki native v2 (7004)
2.Follow on screen instructions and set time zone, date and time.
NB:make sure it corresponds to that on the PC
3.leave the phone on don't power off, connect USB from PC to phone-
**Time to install 7720**
4.At PC, enter wp7 update cab sender folder
5.Go to "if needed install this tool" folder
6.Install setup - update wp(x64 for 64bits windows or x86 for 32bits windows)
NB:You can verify this at the Device manager on the PC
7.Copy device provisioning.cab to wp7-update-cab sender folder. Important,please don't extract this(device provisioning cab)
8.Run wp7 update cab sender.bat
9.Then on the PC keyboard, type s-(s)end cabs to device
10.After finished installing close wp7 update cab sender
11.Delete device provisioning.cab (ie. the one you copied into wp7 update cab sender)
12.Open wp7 7004-7720-patch.zip
13.Copy all the cab files to wp7 update cab sender folder
14.Run wp7 update cab.sender.bat again
15.As usual type s-(s)end cabs to device
NB:I believe it depends on you SD Card it should take about 1hr to 2hrs. In my case 1hr.
16.After installation reset your phone (ie. Go to about) it's important.
17. YOU ARE DONE. YOU NOW HAVE RTM 7720 YUKI-XBMOD
You can now proceed to do the official thing if you like.

First It's stated in the Back to Future threads that others have same issues. I think I even saw a post with tweeter link stating you can't get it done with 7392.
Second,I'll advise you start with stock Rom.Safety First. Try and get the SD card unlocked and formatted and follow the earlier guide and I bet you'll in no time have Yuki-Xboxmod RTM 7720.
And my SD Card was in phone from beginning to end. No problem at all.

Error 800B010A - You can try this
Heya,
I tried to update our beloved HD2 today...well I got the dammit 800B010A error all the time (approx. 15 times). I tried the USB update thingy but no success.
If there are still people out there who are struggling with the error:
After checking for USB drivers you can try to:
1. Take out your SIM card!
2. Increase the "reserved space/storage"! (I'm on german zune, so I don`t know the correct wording). You find this when you are in Zune (on Desktop PC) under Device - Settings.
At least the update directly worked for me after increasing the space from 5% to 15%.
Take care.

1. Download WP7 Update Cab Sender
2. Download DEV_UNLOCK.cab
3. Extract WP7 Update Cab Sender, goto “if needed install this tool”, install Setup-UpdateWP-x86 or Setup-UpdateWP-x64.
4. Copy DEV_UNLOCK.Cab into “WP7-Update-Cab-Sender” folder.
5. Launch WP7 Update Cab Sender.bat and choose S to send this package to device.
6. Let the HD2 reboot.
7. Your HD2 is now unlocked and you can sideload any apps in xap format into your HD2 Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.
8. Enjoy.

What do you mean with "you can sideload any apps in xap format into your HD2 Windows Phone 7.5 Mango"? Suppose I have a xap, how could upload it to my phone and install it? Via Update cab sender method?
Thanks

No, to install any xap, there are several ways I use the Phone application deployment in the Windows SDK 7.1, but in order to install any xap, you must first unlock the terminal, otherwise it will not allow you to install anything.
To unlock it you must follow the procedures that I described above and use the WP7 Cab sender.
I have some concerns about this.
The ROM should already be dev_unlocked.
Some people have experienced problems, especially with installing Xaps using Toms where the error comes up "either your phone is unlocked or zune isn't running", and because zune is running they assume they have become unlocked.
XBmod said that if the phone becomes locked, send dev_unlock_remove.cab, then send dev_unlock.cab. Which should work whether the phone is locked or not.
There are many reasons why Tom xap installer may not work, no Net framework 4, no SDK, zune still synching, not run as admin etc. and as you say, other xap installers are available.
I wonder how many people using this method to unlock will get the "no applicable package" error after sending the unlock.cab, meaning it is already unlocked.
I appreciate the input here, but isn't this already known?
This has been mentioned several times already in different topics.
Or am I missing something here?

You may well be right, and zune upgrading to mango does remove the dev_unlock cab. But how did you know it was locked? Did you hard reset after the upgrade to activate the unlock?

simple, I tried to run "touchExplorer" or "Registry Editor" and in both cases appeared to be a post where I was told that Microsoft had withdrawn the application .... also trying to deploiare xap I was told it was not possible.

Do a hard reset and try again.
Sometimes I get also this message "either your phone is unlocked or zune isn't running" when I try to install xaps via Toms Xap Installer. But this doesnt mean your device is locked again. Just try it again or often the app has been installed but you get this error message. So you just have to ignore it.

how to
since it took some time for me to find out how to side load apps in WP7.5, I'll explain it to other noobs:
You need to install Zune, the .NET 4.0 Framework and Windows Phone SDK 7.1. Then install Phone7Market (you can find it here). It comes with the Phone7Market itself, from which you can download your .xap files and with the Phone7Deployer. Connect your HD2 via Zune, create a desktop shortcut for the Phone7Deployer, get your xap file you want to deploy (i.e. from the Phone7Market) and drag&drop it on your desktop shortcut. It won't harm to check the two boxes (remove drm and the other one). A few seconds later, you should find your app/game on your device.
btw, this is FREE, so you don't need to pay 9 bucks for chevron.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I can't help you with that since I don't have this error. The only two things that come to my mind: You need Windows Vista or 7 for the SDK and you should try a hard reset on your device (backup your data before of course).

[Q] Zune doesn't detect HD2(WP 7.5)

It seems (by doing several searches here in XDA) that there's a fair amount of ppl. having this issue. And I can't seem to find solid responses about this yet.
Status:
- Pdaimatejam ROM Tango 7.10. (No issues other than Zune and WPDM sync)
- Device Manager shows no issues with the driver. (Device recognized under Portable Devices as HTC HD7 T9292) ...although mine is an HD2.
- Installed WPDM but is asking me or the SDK 7.1 (which I am currently downloading)...
- Touchexperience downloaded but I have no way of running it as can't sync the device with neither WMDC nor WPDM. - also, not sure if this has anything to do with this issue. (I read in one thread that it might help)
- Have ALL windows updates. YES I have made several resets. Connect/disconnect etc. I DO have a windows Live ID.
- I have reinstalled Zune a couple of times already.
how can I get zune to detect my device?
How do I sync this device then?
Thanks a bunch.

you're running wp7...the pc will see as a hd7
you may have a live id, but do you have an activation code to authorize the wp7 phone installation?
don't know what you mean by all windows updates...what updates for pda'a rom? it'a all self contained flash.
have you tried rebooting the pc after zune installation?
you need to have zune running in order to use wpdm
and by resets, did you do hard resets either from setttings..reset or the hardware reset (vol up/down simultaneous during phone boot)
sometimes phone recognition by zune can be slow sometimes.
got the activation code. I am able now (after installing Visual Studio) of using WPDM to transfer files to the device. The Zune issue persists.
I did hardware resets, installed all from scratch (HSPL3, MAGLDR, RADIO) and finally ROM Pdaimatejam Tango 7.10.877.
