Better thinking next time you gonna go install apps, I dont install just "everything" that looks cool to try
And one other thing....don't use CAPS in your titles, we all can see your topics even without CAPS on, and just use a normal font in your posts, it look likes **** those big red fonts

So I've been scouring the forums for a while now, I truly have, and all I end up with is more questions and confusion.
I have a vario 2.
It has some annoying issues, like the x not actually closing, msn seems to refuse to stay ended, just loads itself back up all the time, windows media player always stops responding when trying to close etc. From what I've read, fairly common things. Oh and not being able to set custom sms tones.
Now I finally managed to work out that I needed some extra programs, like shell something or other? which I downloaded to the phone, not a pocketpc application was the response.
So I read, use activesync. But hey....Windows Vista doesn't have active sync. Which btw also keeps loading itself up on the bleeding phone.
Something I came accross tonight too, is that when hooked up as a usb modem it apparently doesn't charge as fast as it uses, cause it went flat on me tonight mid surf.
There's a ton of stuff that is meant to be do-able on the phone but I just can't figure out how to do it.
WM6 seems a likely move, but so many different pro's and con's, some people having issues etc, I wonder is 5 safer? Not that I would know how to install wm6 anyway.
Upgrading windows messenger, the live beta seems to have vanished, and any links I've downloaded it from don't work.
Please guys! help! Plain english cause the phone having about a million names doesn't help and the abbreviations I havna't worked out yet are just more nails in my already well sealed coffin

the x button was NOT designed to actually close the program, the idea is the system frees up memory when it is needed, its only recently that the x-button app (that ACTUALLY closes programs) has come about.
secondly assigning custom SMS tones only works if you have them in .wav format and save them in the windows directory.
VISTA can be configured to work with the RUUs we use on here (Rom Update Utilities), and the WMDC (windows mobile device centre) is the vista equivalent of Activesync. Activesync loads all the time on the device but it uses hardly any memory so leave it alone
WM6 may be the way to go for you because you can assign mp3s to alert tones (and not just ring tones as in WM5) however by reading your post it doesnt seem you are quite there yet (reading-wise) to upgrade confidently, your comments on sms tones and activesync show that you havent read enough as these points have been addressed MANY times.
feel free to use my WM6 upgrade guides however do read through the various threads if you have ANY questions you feel have not been answered. As always read the wiki

You can't do it, go away.
You need a 3rd party program, like xxx (which I found didn't do what I needed)
You can only use .wav
Its do-able, but you need wm6

I followed your guide to Vista, followed by flashing HardSPL to the letter, I honestly have done (yeah i'm impatient and like to get in the at the deep end)
It doesn't appear to be working however.
Bootloader originaly says:

I load up HardSPL and follow your instuctions, however as soon as I hit yes on my device to run the program, it instantly restarts into the Bootloader but this time it says:
HERM300
IPL-SSPL by Des
HERM300
SPL-1.09.ds
After hardspl then times out trying verify the information I do a soft restart to get it all working again.
Now if I put it back into the Bootloader, its back to its original settings?
Any ideas?

your using vista correct? make sure you use the Vista guide and load the driver from a post about upgrading with vista!!! also make sure you uncheck allow USB connections in the Vista WMDC sync setting and before you do any flashing put your phone manually into bootloader. I know vista flashing is a pain at first but you will learn the biggest key is to make sure you uncheck the box in WMDC sync settings and put your phone in bootload before trying to flash

Yup using Vista, and did follow the guide.
Although the guide indicates re-enabling the usb sync and leaving the phone in normal running before trying to updated HardSPL

hi y'all, developers like me, who upgraded from WM2/WM3 to WM5/WM6, i know they surely miss the Bluetooth Manager, which is in WM2 & WM3, it's always been a full-fledged tool for everything, like creating BT Headset connection, BT Dial up network, BT File Transfer shortcut etc. It also tells you the speed of all active incoming & outgoing bluetooth connections. While in WM5/WM6, there are only few basic features of switching off/on bluetooth and changing its visibility.

Well, first of all , this has it's own thread . Just search for boradcomm / vidcomm bluetooth stack , and you will stumble upon it .
As far as I know , the forum paid $ 100 for a developer who ported this from the IPAQ operating system.
I installed it once ,on a previous WM6 edition , and it worked ( but see below ) , but i'm unable to get it to work with the more recent editions .
It does work , but there are several drawbacks .
1) Bluetooth light doesn't work any more .
2) Runs out of memory from time to time .
3) Not very well integrated into the OS .
etc , etc .
But never mind me , give it a try and post the results . ( PM me too ! ! ! )

hi mates, as requested by u, i m postin' some screenshots of this application. In the meanwhile, i discover'd one more function. When u turn the bluetooth on, and go to the traditional file explorer(the default one), if u right-click on any file, it will give u an option to send via bluetooth, the best part, there will be a drop-down menu, for the paired bluetooth devices, so that u don't need to make a search again.
And i agree with Dakshithaw, i myself mention'd that i got this app. listed in the FTP of this site, felt like posting a link. Bcuz a novice user wouldn't serarch for BROADCOM STACK, would try for bluetooth manager or something like this. Bluetooth light workin perfectly fine here, however it runs out of memory and fails to start sometimes(1 in 10 for me), so i reboot and work it out. It's well integrated in the OS, This bluetooth manager opens automatically when u click on the icon of bluetooth . It's actually worth using it, bcuz of its utilities, interface etc. Adieu..

Hi mate, initially, when i wuz postin' this application, i actually tried to upload it, in this thread itself. But it didn't work, it prompts "upload failed" i zipped it as well, but that didn't help either. So i gave up, and uploaded it to Rapidshare.
Just now, after seeing your reply, i tried to upload it again, no go. In fact, i discovered that i am unable to upload any file above 2MB. So, i have sent an e-mail to the webmaster, awaiting his reply..
You can either wait, or PM me your e-mail address, i ll mail it to you. The Rapidshare link is workin' fine, i tested it again.

Caused major problems with my bluetooth radio - in fact messed it up pretty bad... TomTom stopped working, uninstalled this and TT started working again...but BT radio seems irreparably damaged I can't pair up with my car anymore...plus I've lost all sound! Oh man, I'm having to do a hard-reset now...
I tried this on Hermes with WM6. I had it maybe couple of days installed and i didn`t use any bluetooth accessories with it. Today i tried to unistall this program and it caused a hard reset! After unistalling device reboots and after splash screen there was only white screen. Several soft resets or removing battery didn`t help. Hard reset solved this...

Sorry for the trouble, mates. In fact, i never felt like uninstalling it, nor do i have GPS, so didn't know the consequences. However, after readin' ur posts, i uninstalled it and faced it. The sounds went off, even mp3 files were comin' corrupt. Had to do a hard reset to resolve. But i ll have to install it back, b'cuz it works, as an utility for me. However, i ll just put a warning msg to take a prior backup.

Hey bro, i tried uploading it, didn't work. As i mentioned in the thread, i am unable to upload any file of more than 2 MB. I sent an email to the webmaster twice, no reply from them, THAT'S REALLY STRANGE.

this software is not work on pda2k(BA) and this messege displaied when we turn on the bluetooth: (BTTrayCE)
the bluetooth radio failed to run On due to insufficient driver memory avialable. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn On the bluetooth radio.
can u solve this problem.

Even i do get this msg sometimes, this happens when there are too many applications running in the background, already. Either close the idle applications, or do a Soft-reset. Try to run it after a soft reset, it would work.

Right i need a hand from one of you clever folks.
Basically the whole ability to view/send/edit any form of messaging has disappeared, every single link in all of my panels or apps where im usually able to enter the messaging application are dead...i mean there there but when i click them nothing happens....
even when i go in through the start menu etc i wont work...
now i know i can hard reset and start again but id rather not ....just got my setup how i like it.... so if possible need a soloution.
was wondering is there a sms.exe or a messaging cab or something that i can reload from the directory? if so where is it cos i cant find anything like tht when i look via file explorerr....i guess im hoping i can just reinstal the cab and it will all be fine.

right this is really freakin me out now!! i put my sim in another fone and i cant access the text messages from that either! so it must be a settin or something that i have done on my x1 thats messed it up....ive had a look in all the settings i can find for sms (of which i couldnt find many) and cant seem to fix it....someone please help i have no idea wot to do!

So maybe your SIM is broken?
Have you tried another SIM card in the xperia?
Hm...but messages aren't stored on the SIM card anymore -they are all in the phone's memory.
I would suggest trying another SIM card.
If this does not help and noone else has an answer, a hardreset would be the best way.

Well I had a similar issue...I would often have to restart the phone in order to get the messaging icons working. The problem was the message delivery report...i just disabled this with xperia tweak. Although it sounds as though your issue could perhaps be a little more complex.
Ok. Ive been haveing a problem accessing marketplace. It seems this was caused by the new update that I Cannot install yet. This would not bother me accept I have to Unlock it every time i wish to use or sideload an app. as soon as i unplug from my pc. Its locked agin. Rendering all the apps useless.
I have been useing registry editor. Wich is working on the files it can find to edit. However it is not allowing me to add keys. ( to attempt and stop the relock )
I have uptaind a serial key from microsoft. ( could this be the problem, should use the registry edit to bypass this? )
Market place now gives an error that "cant get this info rite now check back in a little while" this has been displayed everytime i try to install from market place for three days.
Has anyone else been haveing these issues ? Ive been useing WP7 on my HD2 for two months with no relock or marketplace problems. Other than the charging problem ( wich i understand is a magloadr issue ) this phone has worked flawlessly Until the day it started showing the update.

Ok. so I have got Chevron to work and my phone Has not yet relocked. First i erased the entrys in my host file.. then activated expression and all silverlight programs. Restart pc and phone and It WORKED!! I hope this helps
Keep trying it did not work rite away! It may or may not work for you all but atleast one more type of fix is found for now.
If you can BEFORE you install zune do all your unlocking wit WPconnect. then if it locks when Zune Updates atleast you have an HD7? If someone dose this please post feedbck!

Well I have just put fresh radio, rom, os on the phone back to scratch. Now Chevron.exe will not connect to my phone.
Now im wondering if there is a Regestry editor that i can use from my PC to manually unlock it? long enough that I can sideload touchxexplore, and hopefully add some keys .

I've had different problems. I've been having issues with my xbox live & hotmail. My Facebook was also unsynced & my tile for MoTweets disappeared, then reappeared. Now I've got all that working & my xbox live avatar won't show up, in the games section or the live tile. Don't know what the issue is, but hope it doesn't get worse!

I was verry distraught. It says microsoft has patched the security loop hole with a patch so chevron will no longer work as it exploits this bug. I tryed anyway with no luck.

I'm in the same boat right now, can't get chevron to even see my phone...
I am not sure if this is why it started to work. I did this while my phone was connected with WPconnect and zune was running, Phone at this point was locked.

I was redirected to set up a free account. When i was done i got a key entered it, restarted my WP7 and PC ran Chevron and it worked. It is still unlocked , No matter how manny times i plug it in.
I also Modded the host file and erased the line on WP7. search for how to do this.
And i Belive i was mistaken about activating silver light. I looked back and these are web tools that i had downloaded nothing to do with the phone.
