New Icon Please tell me what it is

On my XDA 11 to the left of the signal strenght icon i oftern see a icon that looks like the handset symbile when the phone is making a call it has a circle above it with a cross in it.
you cant click on it, (ell you can but nothing happens) its only there for a fe seconds every now and then.
the book with the xda 11 shows this icon on a few pictures at the beging of the book, but under the icon descriptions the icon is not listed.
anyone got any ideas

Mine sort of worked then it stops, but the little magic icon seems to pop up when it feels like it, the phone dose not have to ring, unless someone is trying to ring but the phone dose not actially ring.
think i also need to uninstall it

why would ANYone want to uninstall it?
did i forget to mention its a PICTURE caller id??
it will only work well if/when u assign pictures to each caller!
otherwise, u'll just get the same incomming call box.

i have the same problem, i have added a few pictures and it sort of works once or twice, and thats it..........

Well, in my case it didn't installed Arabic support, all you have to do is just disagree with EULA agreement and it will skip all installation of Arabic support.

i will download and try it, i will let you know how it goes

Yes i can confirm that it works fine on my I-mate, the only problem is that you will have arabic insalled with it if you don't already have it. but the Called ID Works fine

Hmm I'll have to wait until O2 come up with a fix then, as I can't understand a word of arabic.
Then again it does work perfectly on my machine excepting that it swamps the nofity queue.

caller i.d sometimes doesn't show ?

Hi all, I've got a strange problem that I haven't found posted here before, sometimes, not always, when one of my contacts calls me the phone will display the number instead of the persons name.
Has anyone seen this before ? am I doing something daft ? and / or is there a way round this.

showing that odd icon shortly
if you recieve a call while it's shut down then it dont display

If you have a problem and it doesn;t load, then go to /Windows folder find IA_Caller_exe make a shortcut to it and place it either in the Start menu folder, or the Star up folder (if itsn;t already there)...
When you see your problem hit the Start menou shortcut and it is once again reloaded...
It is not a solution, but still an answer to your problem...

Its very annoying, never used to have this problem on my original xda II, just this replacement, seems to have a few bits and pieces different software wise

i think it have something to do with the 32process thing on all the devices maybe the new rom have more processses and so have to close stuff down more often

I got the same issue when I installed the Microsoft Voice Command 1.5. It announce the name but I did not see the name displayed during the incoming call. I disable the name announcement features from MS Voice Command and now everything is fine.

My Caller id is always show when someone calling me..
but all times the Answer Call and Ignore ..are on the photo!! it is really annoing me.
When i do a preview in photo contact it shows all perfect..but then.. :?
What version are you using guys?
My os Win2k3Se 2.20

The software checks the SIM card every time u do a soft reset or even HARD-RESET to yr fone.. So if that SIM aint yrs(the one specified in the program itself), it sends an SMS to another specified number(maybe to yr Dad' #) from the thief' SIM card, presuming that any thief after stealing, wld through away yr SIM and put his own in yr device and doesnt know the secret about this software..
The software also doesnt let the thief know that its been installed or running or an sms is been sent to yr number.. So u can keep him unnoticed until u track him down and shoot!
NOTE:
The DEMO version attached below will not send an sms but instead it shows up a message box sayin if its yr SIM or changed one..
SMS feature will be available in the full version only..

The software would have sent the sms as soon as the SIM is changed and even before the device becomes usable and so before flashing, u got the punk' Number..
But a normal thief, wldn do such stuff!

It is a more complicated process and basically works with owner information.. it fails if the thief doesnt change that..
Mine works by SIM card.. as soon as the new SIM is inserted, it recognizes and sends the messages..

this app needs more love. its a great idea. most pikeys that find or steal a phone like this wouldnt know the first thing on how to flash it!. might be a good idea to include the following data in the SMS
current cell site associated with it or the area code for the current area.
maybe any other data that you can gleam from the sim card

This software, to make the security level higher, has the SIM info written in the program itself.. itz no point askin for trial cz itz gonna work as i say.. If anyone wants to buy, i first give a small program that will read the info from SIM & msg me thru SMS..then i rite the same to the program & give u.. so that ting works only wit yr SIM & none else cld try using it! After making it sure that the software works as i said, u can pay me then! but still i don kno any way to get yr money to me here.. The only option is thru mail, if u have any oter better option, temme...!

Speaking for myself only; I don't like trying a Sim ripper which send who knows what info to an unknown person. Guess the program could extract a lot more from my sim or magician (eg imei) than I would like to be send over the internet.
Like your id, but at the moment no thanks, unless I can bind my (ascii)data self into the program.
Guess it will be written into the rom to survive a hard-reset & I don't want my device locked by anything, got I hate sim-locks. So there must be a bypass or de-install as well.
Another prob i can think off, what about dual-sim owners?
Again I like the idea, but am paranoid in this field.

Yr too carefull abt yr device i gezz.. Tats gud! anyway this software survives Hard-reset as told, but not needed to be surely put in ROM.. The exe file is kept in a folder 2577 in yr internal storage renamed as Autorun.exe and so it gets executed.. The main advantage is that it doesn require any installation necessarily, jus the exe file can be executed just after hard reset.. The folder' attribute is set to be hidden and so wont show up normally.. But if the thief' aware of this, he can delete that file wit yr SIM in it and then do a hard reset..For this reason, ROM incorporation wld be usefull.. But i don think a thief wld do all such stuff as his first concentration would be to change the SIM and once changed, itz finished!
But still, y i din try incorporating the file in ROM cz, if the thief cld find the facility of autorun in folder 2577, he wld very well know abt flashing ROMs and so its no point.. But in real life, a thief normally wont have such knowledge and thats wer my software helps..
Awrite, to those who r really worried and don trust my software to get the only required info, Im letting out the secret, itz jus the phone number that was used to check the sim.. So gemme yr number thru private message to me.. The point of making a software to gemme the detail is to avoid the country code error as some SIM contains those while the oters dont.. Mine din have so u gemme without country code..

I installed your program and executed it. It didn't seem to do anything on my universal, but now I can't uninstall it. How do I get rid of whatever it did or didn't do? Is it supposed to send you an sms? I don't think it did so as my prepaid sim card does not show any less money than was on it before.

Today morning i checked by changing some SIM cards and some din have their number in it.. Bad network providers, they don even put their number in SIM cards.. So for these cases, im gonna change the coding in my software to send an sms if the number is not present also..So right now this software should work only to those having their SIM cards with their own number in it provided by the operator..
Oltp, i got yr number and wld do the demo for you today evening and post it here.. and before, install my check software and press the read sim button and if it says read succesfull, then yr SIM has number and the software would work.. U dont have to press the second button saying send request as u wer scared to send any information though it reads nothing oter than yr sim number..
chetccox, there should be two buttons in tat check software.. first one gets enabled wen u type sumthin in the name textbox and on pressing the read sim button, second one would get enabled and saying Read succesfull.. if u got this message read successfull, then yr sim has yr number and the software has detected it.so on pressing the send request button, the number would be sent to me, im not sure y it din send the sms..Maybe yr number doesn allow international sms or so... Anyway il do the demo for you too today evening and post here..
For others, im gonna change the check software, instead of sending me the sms, it would directly display the number on yr screen.. Its jus to make sure that yr SIM has yr number and the software is capable of detecting it and so the Theft Alert software would work fine..

I think this software _could_ be interesting to quite a few of us, provided you get it running without us having to send you any personal details - that's the things we are trying to keep to ourselves in the first place.
But please, please write your messages in real english, not some made up stuff. Trying to figure out what you mean by guessing how you pronounce words in your local lingo, makes my head hurt :-(
Anyway, together with PDAKill, this could be an essential piece of software for security aware users, so keep up the good work.

why dun u jus make a program that stays in the rom and would only sms to a desired number the number the thief is using whenever there is a sim change. then this way the thief cannot run away wit ur device. u can jus keep harrassing him or get the police involved as well. even better if it can make use the telco towers.

Tats de same error i gt wen using it wit my fren' SIM.. So letz try this idea.. The sim phonebuk has a place for own numbers.. can v write our numbers to it and access it to check? or even most of us wont use the SIM phonebook, so v cld write it down an entry in it and access.. Can v..?
By the way, oltp, i used to program with Visual Basic .net 2003.. Wot abt u..?

PDAKill wld be of no use.. Cz, wen yr fone been stolen, the first thing the thief wld do is to throw away yr SIM and wer wld yr msg go to Kill yr fone..?

i have been using the xda mini s and my mate started to give me some software to place on it, i installed the Wisbar advanced on there and i really like this piece of software. the only problem is and i dnt understand how, is that when i send a txt message, it resends the same txt message again to the same person, it had sent 5 to the same person. i turned it off and it doesnt seem to do it anymore, is it the software of teh phone, and does anyone know of any of software similar to this.
Also music which i store on my sd card i can save them as my ringtone, but when i put wisbar on, i dnt have the option. i can install something which allows me to do so but is there anyway i can change this too

I can't seem to quite figure out my phone.. I mean I have never dealt with a phone this hard! I hope someone would kindly help cause I've browsed through soooo many threads on the forum and can't quite find the answers.
Qn 1) So I downloaded the Pocket CM.cab and have my htc today screen but I was trying to set up "Favorites" and all my contacts were gone other than my MyFaves contacts... Where did all my other contacts go (they are in my sim card previously). Is there a way I could transfer my contacts from my sim to the phone for something more permanent?
Qn 2) I understand there's a ROM thing to free up some space, I can't seem to find a guide that explains how this all work.. I downloaded a zip with all the .bat files in it and had ran the .cab file.. where do I run the .bats on? My comp or the phone?
Qn3) I know, I have many questions.. The weather Icon on my Today Screen, I can only find Arlington VA, is there any way I could get a more accurate weather forecast somewhere near my city?
Qn4) I had downloaded the Total Commander and hoping to tweak some of the stuff but could someone kindly direct me to a guide?

1. Most ROMs have SIM contacts hidden. It's a registry key. I'm at work right now so can't look it up for you, sorry.
2. A ROM with REFORMAT your phone and add a CUSTOM made firmware. Think of it as installing our version of windows over your windows. You will loose all your files that you do not back up. Flashing it can be tricky at first... There are a few walkthroughs around about it, though.

They're still there. They're just hidden. It's a registry edit.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Phone]
"ShowSIM"=dword:00000001 ->0 to disable, 1 to enable.
