Custom Development for the TF300t PLEASE !! - Transformer TF300T General

I want to start this thread to encourage Android Custom Rom Devs so we all can enjoy and benefit from their work.
We have seen incredible work built for other similar devices (eg: Asus Transformer TF101, Transformer Prime TF201,, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, and others). I don't want to mention any particular team or Dev, but we all know extraordinary people out there. Please jump on the TF300 bandwagon..we need you.
Cheers

Actually, my vote goes for a custom stock ROM for those of us who like the stability and features of asus roms.

Makelegs builds of cm9 and aokp are great AOSP and what you guys have afasthat. You also seem to have an AOKP build up
I'm willing to try and put something together as I have a tad of experience with the TF101, but I don't have a tf300 to test with and I'd rather not accidentally brick a bunch of people with a bad release.

+1 to this also
TEAM EOS.. where are you guys??

you know the TF300's stock rom is like 99% aosp right? the only thing i have noticed is the status bar has the toggles built in, the status bar locking thing, and some different icons for the back, home, multitask. and the addition of asus' "bloat" apps.
but as someone already said, there are some CM9 and AOKP builds available already. they may not be official builds, but that is only because the AOKP team doesn't have a tf300 to work with.

Gotta have some patience bro We do have talented devs for this tablet already. Don't forget its only been out a month or 2 and its gonna take time for people to make the jump to this tablet. Give it time this community will grow

You are somehow correct my friend but... encouraging does not mean lack of patience.
There is quite a bit of development done for a very similar device ( TF201 )... actually a couple of CM9 roms are branched from TF201 development.
There are other gadgets out there launched on the same date the TF300 was and there are custom kernels as well as AOSP and AOKP roms.. so, yes,... lets be patient but let them know we are waiting.
Cheers.

True. This awesome device needs more attention. I'm teaching my self coding so I hope some day have a custom build out there.
I got this tablet 48 hours ago and already running this custom rom with Apex Launcher. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750861
I saw you wondering in that thread as well.
And I do have to say that you don't enjoy the amazing Android experience until you start flashing.

On a serious note I do think it will be ported to our device.
OK take me for a blizzard. I just finished dinner.

Because ICS will be optimized for both tablets and phones, I think we'll begin to see a lot more tablet support from Cyanogenmod.
Speaking of which, I'm looking at buying an a500, and I was trying to find out if there is either a beta, or an unofficial CM port, but when I searched this forum for cyanogenmod I got 0 hits. Is search broken, or am I missing something? From what I've read, the bootloader lock was cracked, so why is no one on the whole a500 forum talking about CM?
I am not 100 % sure but I think cm is still on 2.3.whatever whereas we are on 3.x.x

I think that we may see an official update through Acer depending on the requirements Google has for the hardware part of ICS.
I also believe that CM will most likely stay exclusive to phones. Although ICS will support both phones and tablets, I don't see CM moving away from making custom Roms for phones.
However, I do hope that the CM team will be willing to try something new seeing as the ICS code should be very similar for both Tablets and Phones.
I guess we will just have to wait and see.

CyanogenMod 9!

It's official! CyanogenMod 9 is coming to the eeePad Transformer!
CM 9 Progress Update
We’ve been hard at work on CM9 since Google released Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) into the wild last month, and things are slowly starting to come together. Google did a great job with ICS and added some really awesome features which in some cases replace or deprecate functionality that we had in CM7, so we are reevaluating all of our customizations. A number of devices are already up and running with CM9, and the focus is currently on getting as many devices ready as we can. The first devices (besides the Nexus S, which you can already get from Koush’s section on ROM Manager) that we’ll have ready will mostly likely be devices based on OMAP4, MSM8660/7X30, and Exynos. We also have some Tegra2 tablets in the pipeline such as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Asus Transformer. Our goal is to provide continued support to all CM7 devices back to the QSD8250 series of devices such as the Nexus One. I don’t want to make any promises at this time, but that is the plan. And sorry Droid1 owners, we’re dropping support for you. Time to upgrade
There are a number of challenges that we are up against. Google has made some pretty major changes to the Android framework that break compatibility with older proprietary camera and graphics drivers in order to achieve some pretty insane performance, but I am confident that the team will be able to overcome these issues like we have in the past.
For those of you who like to build CM from source yourself, you probably know that the spin-up time when starting a CM7 build is absurdly long due to the high number of devices in our repository. Koush and Arcee have put together a solution to this problem that adds new devices on-demand to your local repository, saving on both bandwidth and the long startup time. Some other great enhancements are coming too, like a completely overhauled music app, a new file manager, and a new launcher based on stock 4.0.
If you have a Nexus S, you can check out the code and build for yourself today. More devices are on the way, and I’ll send out these status updates as we make more progress

Exactly what I was thinking. I love Prime and the work roach has been doing, but when I can get CM on the tablet, I will go running.
what's the advantage of CM vs Prime rom ?
Its Vanilla ICS. Most stable best battery life and best performance.
You have to try it to actually realize the differance. Which is like day and night

It'll be interesting to see what the difference is. CM is usually better than stock firmware sure so being as lean and cut-back as possible while still adding in extremely useful features.
Asus have done a great job of keeping their firmware bloat-free though, so it may not be too different, performance-wise. The biggest advantage will probably come from extended support. Asus probably won't upgrade the TF101 past 4.0 - having CM pretty much ensures that it will get every version of Android in the future so long as somebody is interested in getting it running.

A lot of the "bloat" Asus has added is incredibly useful. Polaris Office is really nice, and unavailable if Asus didn't include it. Same with Supernote, which is pretty good for free. Splashtop, again, expensive software included for free.
The **** I hate is them bundling things like Netflix... it's freely available on the market, and only available in select regions, why on earth would you bundle that?

[PLEDGE] Give CyanogenMod / TeamHacksung a Galaxy S3!

Hello everyone. The time has come. Today Samsung announced their new flagship device GT i9300 A.K.A. Galaxy S3. Now, if you are a big fan of pure AOSP and his aftermarket distributions like I am you certainly already know that ICS based CyanogenMod 9 is out there and running and its pure fresh blazing awesomeness. That said, I decided to start this pledge to gather money to give Teamhacksung members codeworkx and xplodwild the next Samsung Galaxy S3 so they can develop for it and port CM9. As you probably know, Teamhacksung is the official CM mantainer for Samsung devices.
Im daily in touch with Teamhacksung members and they are already aware and fully support this pledge.
We running for two devices here. The ammount already includes Pledgie taxes. The donnations are going straight to xplodwild’s paypal account.
We count on you that, like me, is certainly going to buy this new beast called Galaxy S3 and want to see it sporting CM9 and future Google AOSP releases.
CM9 on Galaxy S3 for the WIN!!!!

Now devs have what is needed to start the wild porting workx. Stay tuned! I will reach you with more news when I have them.
going to donate! this is definitely needed!
As soon as xplodwild at teamhacksung received the galaxy note, we received the cm9 official build instantly.
and we raised funds in just 24 hours where we could get them the galaxy note, love the community spirit. lets do it!

I'm not entirely sure I will want to put a vanilla or CM on this phone right away... the stock Touchwiz ROM seems to have a lot of nice features.. Unless these can be incorporated into a ROM that is based on CM9 or what-have-you I think I will try running a stock Touchwiz ROM with root access.. I have never used Touchwiz but even if I had I couldn't definitively say I won't like this because it's new to everyone.

Awesome.
---
To each their own.
Thanks for being so sarcastic. I guess things went a bit too fast.
Actually, while the Galaxy S3 will have many great features, they're all software-based. And after looking deeply, there's nothing that prevents us from adding these nice features to an AOSP ROM, for instance CyanogenMod 9.
Hence why, Galaxy S3, once running CyanogenMod 9, will profit from a community effort started recently to bring manufacturers' features to all CM9-enabled devices. This can include actions triggered by motion, and other features so-called "natural".
You can find out more details at http://opendesign.blamesamsung.org/. Details on specific features, as well as the ability for everyone to request this kind of features, will be available on May 10th.
I can only thank once more people that will help Team Hacksung and CyanogenMod getting a Galaxy S III, to help all CyanogenMod 9 devices.

So true, this was an inspired moment We will give you more details soon. I'm pretty sure you will all like it. But we will need more peeps to help. And to answer CoNsPiRiSiZe, touchwiz always deceived us. I don't see why it would change now. A proverb says : "You don't have to taste **** to know it taste like ****".

7.7 support dead with Nexus 7 3G arrival, why only roms based on CM and nothing else?

Not sure if I am alone on this and I am sure I will probably get a lot of heat. Our 7.7 has been out close to a year now (correct me if I am wrong) and I am a bit sad that there isn't much development on this tab. I keep an eye on the development section and so far all there is is the following: custom rom based on ICS, straight CM9, straight CM10, Nexus 7 based on CM10, Paranoid based on CM10 and one other one and guess what based on CM10. So that's 2 based on ICS and 4 based on JB but 5 of them are CM builds. To some people 6 custom roms seem to be a good thing but in reality there are only 2. I don't count all the different flavors of CM as an individual rom because it's the basic rom and devs just put their own spin on it. Now I am not putting down any of the CM team and I know CM is a very popular rom but why isn't anyone else coming up a JB rom that is NOT based on CM. I have tried 3 different versions of the CM flavor ROMS and there are many issues. Now I have addressed those issues in their respective threads and have been told many times before that this is just how CM has built and either I use it or not, that's all good and no problem, but not happy about it at the same time.
I would just like for someone to come out with a JB rom that is NOT based on any CM build as too keep all functions working PROPERLY. Maybe the lack of development is because there aren't many 7.7 units available in the USA (I am not counting the Verizon model as the majority are all imports) and their current price is a big drawback. Now that the Nexus 7 will be released with 3G and will probably be more affordable than our 7.7 I predict that development will surely die out and people will jump straight to the Nexus 7 with 3G and us current owners will be left on the dark unless and official JB update is released (I doubt it).
This is my rant and my opinion please respect it, once again I am not here to disrespect anyone and applaud your support for this device even if there isn't much.

Atrix stable ICs Jellybean port plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
This request has been made on both the ICS and the JB versions. The answer remains the same. Until the 2.6.39.4 kernel is finished being dev'd, all roms are as stable as they can get. There are 3 kernels on the table for the more advanced android versions. 1. The ICS leak kernel. 2. The Galaxy R kernel. 3. The Xoom kernel. The ICS leak kernel is what you see the most of. Galaxy R kernel is more well known than the Xoom kernel dev. Galaxy R kernel dev may be observed in android dev under the ICS/JB kernel thread. The Xoom kernel is a quiet project that is mentioned in either the cm 9 or cm 10 rom that poped up a few days ago. The thread mentions "that kernel" in the thread title, and the user has toyota in their s/n.

I think it was a request for stable ICS or JB port, like somehow requesting it is going to make it happen faster because in the months (14?) since ICS was released, developers have been standing idly by waiting for this one specific request to build a stable ICS or JB ROM.
As for why there wasn't some kind of massive burn, it's kinda like poking a bee hive when all the bees have moved on to a new nest. Oh well, anything to keep this section of the forums alive I guess.
I think the OP was hoping for a good flaming. Trolls gonna troll.
are any of the ICS/JB roms for the Atrix ready for daily usage yet?

Because some people are stuck with the device and want to at least have the chance to try ICS or JB themselves, especially since ICS was officially released over a year ago. For some people the basic functionality of ICS or JB is worth losing camera/ camcorder, and hardware acceleration, or at least until they find they need those for something. For me it was fun to try, and a bit depressing to have to revert back to GB, but the loss of camera/camcorder functionality was too much and the things I wanted ICS for in the first place just didn't work.
